Dmitri was the last in line as the boys made their way out of the school parking lot. He hadn't felt like pushing past everyone, so he had taken his time. Once they had spread out enough, however, he began running faster. He stared out at the sidewalk in front of him as he ran. His breath came in steady, quick inhales and outhales as he concentrated.

Juliet hummed as she walked over the uneven cement pathway, humming as she went. She pulled her arms from her jacket's pockets and took a hair tie from her wrist and worked at putting her hair up into a pony tail. Walking did make her a little misty.
Her music drowned down all the noises around her. It was as though the melody to her own life was playing, like nothing else mattered.

Dmitri's feet pounded the cement as he ran. His eyes focused downward, he almost didn't realize that he wasn't alone. He glanced up after a bit and noticed someone in front of him. It took him a moment, but he soon realized that it was Juliet. He smiled and debated whether or not he should call for her or just run up behind her.
After a moment, he sped up. It didn't take too long for him to catch up with her and he came up next to her, slowing down to match her pace. "Hello there," he greeted, a friendly smile on his face.

Juliet's body tensed as he appeared at her side. She ripped her earbuds out and muttered a faint "frick" as she jumped. She stopped in her place, her heart racing.
"What the hell?" she gasped, running her hand through her bangs. It took her a moment to catch her breath and to recognize who it was that had scared her. "W-what are you doing here?"

His smile faltered for a moment. "Oh, I'm sorry," he apologized. "I didn't mean to frighten you." He smiled, somewhat awkward smile.
"I, er, I come here. I mean, I run track. Ve vere doing a free run after school today and I came zhis vay. And...I saw you so I decided to come say hello."

"Ah, I see." A smile stretched across her lips as she straightened her clothes. "Nah, you aren't on track. You're just a creeper who likes to stalk hot girls like me." She chuckled slightly before patting his shoulder. "I'm kidding," she said with a smile before walking once more, "Though, if you keep bugging me I might not be able to tolerate you. Anyway, so track? That's cool. You like to run... Aren't you a tad short to run track? I mean... short legs and what not?"

"Eh...ehehe," Dmitri laughed slightly at her comment. He wasn't entirely sure how to take it, but she was just joking so it didn't matter, right?
And again, his smile faltered. "Eh, Vell...no?" he replied, glancing down at his feet. "Vell...then again...yes. Kind of...I'm zhe shortest guy on zhe team but...I really vanted to prove zhat I could run. Fast. Even zhough I'm short." He gave a slight smile. "I may be zhe shortest, but I'm not the slowest."

"Keep telling yourself that shorty," she said mockingly before smiling again, "Joking... again."
She shoved her hands into her pockets and walked on, turning her ipod off and placing it too in one of her pockets.
"So you like to run then? I'm probably slowing you down huh?"

"More or less, yes," Dmitri replied, looking up at the sky. "I'm supposed to be running but I think I cant stand for a leettle break. I ran zhis morning before school anyvay so eet's not like I haven't had a good run already today."
He glanced over at her and smiled before looking down at his feet again. He couldn't help but smile looking at her. It felt odd...to him. "это странно..." he muttered, mostly to himself.

"You're very dedicated... aren't you?" she said with a smile, an odd sweetness gracing her expression. A small sigh escaped her lips as walked. It was one of those things your body did when it had tensed all up and needed a huge release of stress. She blamed it on him scaring her.
"Not many people have that kind of devotion."
.: Later, Juliet: Gawd dang it boy! STOP BEING DEVOTED! you're annoying me! D8< :.

Dmitri smiled again, a feeling of warmth flowing through him at the compliment. "Why sank you. I suppose I am. Or maybe I just like running. I don't know." He shrugged and glanced at her.
"Do you alvays valk home from school?" he asked, curiously.
Dmitri: IT'S A GOOD THING, DAMMIT! BE HAPPY!

Juliet shrugged slightly. "Um... not all the time. But most of the time I suppose. I do dance... and the dance studio I practice at is up here. Actually, it's right here."
A smile spread across her lips once more as she slowed to a stop before the building's entrance.
"My my, you make a walk seem short. I suppose I'll see you tomorrow then."

Dmitri looked up, somewhat sadly, at the building. "Ah, vell I suppose I should get going anyway....if the coach catches me, he'll find some way of punishing me. He's found out that laps don't vork since I rather enjoy them." He smiled and gave a slight bow.
"I bid you farewell. Have fun at your dance class."

"And you with your running," she said with a smile before waving and dipping into the building.
The day passed quickly and though she was busy practicing her dance moves she couldn't help but find that her thoughts kept shifting to the odd russian boy. A smile pricked at her lips as she spun to the music. Such an odd day.
The class let out and after a few moment with her teacher she was out once again upon the cement pathways, the night sky wrapping around her. The moon hung high and cast shafts of blue light down and offered a sense of stillness to the world.
She made her way home and entered the always empty house. It was nothing new. Her parents were rarely home. A sigh sat upon her chest as she locked the door behind her and made her way up the stairs to her bed. She fell a it with a thump, her face pressed against the blankets.
She chuckled as she pushed herself up and booted her laptop. Her web browser opened and she found herself typing in "Learning Russian" into the search engine. Apparently a teaching software would be at her home within the week.

Dmitri went on running, as usual, through the town. He made it back to school and then ran all the way home. He was rather tired by the time he returned home, but it no longer bothered him. He threw his things on the counter in the kitchen and went immediately to the bathroom where he showered up. He knew his mother and sister would be home any minute. He didn't want a running glomp from his sister to end in his sweaty grossness.
When he was done and left the bathroom, toweling his wet hair, sure enough, they were home.
"Dmiiitriiii!" squealed a small voice as a little girl, around seven, ran up and hugged him. "How was schooool?" she asked, smiling up at him.
"School vas vonderful," he replied, his fairly thick accent contrasting strongly to her lack of one. "How about you?"
"Gooooood. 'cept bobby drew on my paper today. I dunno what it was, but it didn't look very nice. So I threw my mug at his head."
