They had continued playing down the river and for Dhati, it was like being at home with his siblings. He had what he now thought of a new sister more then a cousin. He would be spending alot of time with her so when he skidded to a stop he wouldn't have been surprised if it confused his cousin, however he had got a sscent of another dog while playing. He stopped as he saw her on the otherside of the river.
"Haiji!! Look!" He ran over to her and looked back at the other female. "Haiji, look its another dog!" He was pratically whispering, he was so happy to see another dog, the pack could start now, if she would agree.

For most of the morning the pair of juveniles continued to play and run alongside the river, their excitement and energy not seeming to wan much at all. Well, it was true that wild dogs could chase their prey for hours, before taking down the completely exhausted animal.
However, when Dhati slowed and came up to Haiji before stopping, the female looked at him cinfused. "Huh? You're not tired are you?" But then after he explained she sniffed and turned her head. Yes! There was a scent in the air after all and it's owner could be seen wandering on the other side of the water.
"Hey! Uh, I mean, hello!" Haiji called. This was her first chance to make an impression as a future alpha on another potentional pack member, and she was just a little nervous. Especially when the other dog just looked at them and continued walking without a word.
"What's the hurry?" Haiji called out to her, standing with one forepaw lifted uncertainly. "I haven't seen any wild dogs at all lately, well except Dhati here. Would you like to stop and talk for a bit?"

Ujuzi, on any other day, would have continued walking like the antisocial thing that she was.
But, today, today she would take the road less traveled. For once in her life she followed what her intuition said instead of her brain, though the voice in the back of her head was barely audible after so long.
She silently slowed to a hault again and looked back over her shoulder at the two young ones. They looked like quite the pair traveling alone.
"I suppose that it wouldn't hurt. What do you wish to talk about?"

Dhati decided being that his cousin was the alpha of the pack they were recreating that she should rightly do the talking. He just looked over the femme a couple of times before back at Haiji. Her choice to do the talking, that sounded like a good idea!

Haiji lolled her tongue out for a moment, pleased to see that this new wild dog had decided to stay for a bit after all. But she quickly pulled it back into her mouth when she was asked exactly what it was she wanted to talk about. Who are you? Want to join our pack? They weren't exactly the best things to say straight out like that. Especially not when their pack consisted of just two juveniles.
"No no, wouldn't hurt at all." She began. "Well I'm Haiji, and this my cousin Dhati." She nodded over to the male, who looked as though he wasn't going to say anything. Haiji licked her muzzle slightly. "We're on the lookout you see, for other wild dogs. Like I said, haven't seen any in months... shame since I do like some company. Good for protection.. bringing in bigger kills. And just to stop you getting lonely, don't you think?"
Haiji paused and looked around, wondering if there was any other pack with this older wild dog or if she was a lone dog too. "So you.. on your own?" She asked innocently.

"Aa. It's nice meeting you, Haiji, Dhati." Came the neutral reply, she didn't seem to think anything of Haiji's question, had no reason to. She simply darted her tongue out over the front of her nose, responding calmly. "I am, actually."

Dhati listened to the girls talk, he rarely said anything, he had learnt from his father that watching others is a good way to learn about them and he definatly needed to learn aout his cousin and maybe this new female. He just nodded his head ocaasionally and had a contnous smile on his maw. This was good fun, he was happy watching and if Haiji recruited this femme, he wanted to drag the next dog in with them!

The response from the rogue was pleasant enough and Haiji looked to her cousin to see if he had any doubts. He was the one who had said having rogues make up your pack was dangerous. But he was smiling and nodding and not a single hackle was raised against this female. Haiji could only assumed he apporved of her. Now came the tricky bit of convincing her...
"Ah, a pity that. I've been on my own for a while now too. Only recently met Dhati. We're thinking of traveling together. Along with any other dogs that want to come along..." She grinned. "..and join in the spoils." Sitting down, she looked up the river at the way they were headed and then back at the older wild dog. "Better this way I figure. Like I said, more protection and the chance at bigger prey. I don't suppose.. you'd like to join us?"

Ujuzi nodded her head forward in reply to Haiji's explanation. Made sense. She'd heard of many a young creature abandoned or forced from their homes, for sometimes the stupidest reasons. Impulse spoke up again, telling her to go along, what else did she have to loose? Well... as long as she didn't have to come across her old pack again... Besides, she could always leave again if she decided it wasn't for her, right?
"Join in the spoils? Are we some type of band of pirates?"
Juzi joked lightly, the tone of her voice sounding completely scincere in it's question, but it was indeed sarcasm. The next part, however, was not.
"Alright, I see no harm in it."

Dhati smiled and let out a small laugh. "You could say something like that!" He smiled and looked to his cousin, well that was one dog, just need a few more adn then the pack would be remade and everything could maybe be how it was suppose to be. This would be exciting!

Haiji gave a short bark of laughter at the other dog's comment. Even Dhati found it amusing. "Heh, just taking opportunities as they come. Nothing wrong with that?" She grinned. Opportunities came at unreliable times though. Sometimes you had to make your own opportunities. But that was all part of being a pack. Doing what it took to stay together and stay alive.
However the juvenile picked up an important word in the other's comment. 'We'... that included herself right? And her next words comfirm her agreement to come along. Haiji could have given a jump for joy, but refrained it to a happy tail-wagging instead. "That's great! You'll see how good it is. I say with the three of us we could take down zebra. Probably.."
She grinned again and looked over across the river to Ujuzi before standing up and taking a few steps in the direction they were headed (upstream). "So, if we're going to be wandering together for a while I guess it'd be good to know what to call you. What's your name?"

(( Don't know if people fancy it, but after the next round or two of posts would you guys like to do a little time-jump? Say later that evening when they're getting ready to rest and can perhaps chat and learn some more about each other? Then I might pm Zo-Zo and Lady and see if they'd like to join in. Or do you think it's too soon? sweatdrop I don't want do anything in a 'godmod' sense (such as changing the time and scene) unless of you are happy for me to do so. ))

(( Yep yep, sure thing. 3nodding I agree learning about each other might be fun. Even if you don't want to describe their past or your character is just secretive like that, it'll still give the others some insight into their personality.
Just trying to work out the current time, although they can meet up with any others in a couple of 'days'. But Haiji and Dhati met up in the early morning right? Then they wandered up the river for a bit and met Ujuzi at around noon? Does that sound about right? ))

((Whatever you guys decide is fine with me, ^^;; I'm just sorry it's taking me so long between posts, xD;; 2 jobs kicking my butt.
Congrats on the recent growth, btw, DDB! <3))
Ujuzi didn't comment that she had tried pack life before, been born into it. There was no reason to bring this up, and she didn't see a reason to correct them for the time being. Let them think what they would, it would give her a better understanding on how they normally worked. She didn't mind letting them assume things for now, after all.
Well. First things first, if they were to be traveling together now, she supposed getting on the other side of the river would be a good start.
"You can call me Ujuzi, Haiji."
She cast a brief look to Dhati to let him know that he could too.
