"Hey." Kincaid looked back up at her, "Parents should never find disappointment in their children." He shook his head, "Guess so though."

"Oh? Well, one is better than none." Replied Kincaid as he finished the tea and pushed it aside, "Now I finally think I know what to demonstrate for you using flowers." He cast a grin over his shoulder before heading back into the other room. Several bangs and a soft mutter or two were heard as the foxtaur rummaged around for the right things.

Mersi finished her own tea in a swift gulp, looking blankly into the empty cup. "Well, he doesn't seem to mind it much."
She stretched her torso when Kincaid stood, watching where he went and trying to see into the room. Flowers. What did she need help with anyway? "Hey, using a flower on yourself tonight? Want to bare your thoughts too?" She felt rather exposed now that the tea was gone and she had told part of her story.

"That's good." Kincaid grinned as he came back with a bundle of dried flowers and herbs. The foxtaur paused in the doorway with vague interest on his face. His thoughts? Hmm.

"I'm using it on both of us." He finally replied with a gentle grin. Though truthfully Kincaid realized that he had a slight advantage of control since it was a natural ability of his that he was going to demonstrate.

"My thoughts about you or just thoughts?" He finally asked while twisting stems and petals together with ease. His golden eyes peeked over to Mersi before returning to his work. "I usually prefer listening. Especially since you have an intriguing story."

Mersi was starting to tense up again. Strange place, strange situation, strange taur. Her story? Intriguing? Why he thought her double-personality was interesting, she had no idea. What was he doing with those flowers now?
"Well, I was referring to you talking about yourself." She wasn't sure if she wanted to know what this male thought of her right now. "You've found out about me, but what do I know about you?"

"Myself?" Kincaid looked over at Mersi with a small smile, "I'm just your average half-breed. I guess." He replied lightly, "My father is your average gentleman foxtaur while my mother is always busy being a healer. My older brother almost always faints at the sight of dead fish while my older sister, Reisa, is always on the move as a healer in training. My younger sister scares me at times, she's the one black sheep. Though I know that she's not all that bad."

"I myself, just kinda hang through everything." Kincaid dripped oil onto the bundle. "I guess you'd call me the go with the flow type? Though really I just do what I believe would benefit me and others." There was a gleam of amusement in his gaze as he looked back at Mersi, "Shall I tell you my favorite colors and such now?"

Kincaid grinned as he added in just a few more touches. "Now." He held the end of the slender bundle over the flickering flames and smiled warmly as it caught hold and a faint smoke started to flow through the room. "Some clove and lavender will be the first to burn." Mostly lavender for peace and calm. Relaxing perfect for any stress or just for a casual conversation.

Mersi listened quietly. Average father, busy but average mother, quirky but not abnormal siblings. And one "go with the flow" type. That wasn't what she had in mind, and his amused comment just made her cross her arms stubbornly. "You mean you don't think you have anything interesting about yourself to tell me about?"
She furrowed her brow in confusion. Burning the flowers? But then the scent of initial burning cleared, revealing a subtle, pleasant scent in its wake. She leaned forward slightly. "Why does it smell nice when it's being burned?"

"Interesting?" Kincaid grinned and stretched lazily. The aroma was pretty pleasant by now, very relaxing to the fox. "I guess I might - but then again I really don't know what you might find interesting." He replied with light humor. His tail flicked lazily behind him as he twisted more stems of different things together.

"Cuz it can." Kincaid replied jokingly though quickly he shook his head, "Sincerely though...we can still smell a faint hint of smoke - but the flowers' pure essences, natural scent are powerful enough to overtake the smokey smell and blend it with their own. How exactly I don't really know." The foxtaur smiled, "A gift from above - I guess I could say."

Mersi watched the tendrils of smoke from the burning plant twirl delicately in the air to dissipate into a mysteriously relaxing scent. "Oh." She said softly, thinking about how strongly some flowers would scent her home. Is this what burning them brought out?
She cocked her head slightly to look at Kincaid. "Well, it's about time you found out. Tell me something about yourself, and I'll tell you if I think it's interesting."

Kincaid blinked at Mersi before shrugging. "Okay then." His gaze burned at her before watching the curling smoke of the incense thoughtfully. "I like experimenting with flowers - well you already know that."

"Hmm." He rubbed his shoulder, "Jeez, this is hard. Something interesting...well I'm the neutral one in my family. One would burn a baby rabbit while the other would walk out into the freezing cold to save it. I'm in between kinda. I can cook, does that make me odd for a male?"

"Not like you probably cared to hear that bit." Kincaid laughed softly and shook his head, "You know, Mersi...I've always listened to others and never really tell stories myself. How about this, once I learned that my mother is a magic using healer I started experiments on what I can do and not do. If anything went wrong, Willow would be there. If not her then Reisa would be, only those two know about my experiments - now you too of course. But since my early teen life I've been working at things. Several pretty dangerous poisons don't even effect me now."

Her gaze sliding between Kincaid and the dancing smoke, Mersi remained an open listener. Flowers? Yeah, that was rather obvious. Neutral? How was that interesting? She thought she herself might be labeled more neutral than any extreme. She smirked when he brought up cooking. "Being able to prepare your own food is an important part of living and survival. I think it's commendable that you took the time to learn instead of depending on your parents to feed you."
His last idea kept her interest on him and away from the smoke. Poison immunity? "You mean, by exposing yourself to poison, it doesn't hurt you anymore? ...Can you actually do magic now?"

"Yeah, yeah." Kincaid shook his head, "But some days I wonder if it was worth the torment my older sister gave me." The young foxtaur poked the smoking bundle and smiled at the memories. Though he would never admit to enjoying his family's attention.

"Well yes and no." Kincaid looked up at Mersi, his gaze thoughtful. "I only exposed myself in small quantities over the years so my body became immune to it. Still sometimes I nearly killed myself and once my sister had to drag my frozen body from the foot of the steps so my mother could save me in time. Magic? Pfft. I'm no cattaur ya know."

Mersi cocked her head slightly. "Torment?" She asked, leaving it up to Kincaid on elaborating if he wanted to. He was smiling though...
"Immunity." She said softly to herself. She wondered if she could apply that somewhere in her life. Her eyes narrowed slightly. His testing poisons and nearly killing himself... She compared that to her hunting bigger and larger game to test her own skills as a hunter. "See? You found something interesting about yourself." She said with a small smile.

"Family torment." Kincaid whispered, his golden gaze melting into a playful seriousness. That was all he would give her unless she forced it out of him, but Kincaid found no real interest in his sister's actions against him...unless of course he felt the need to amuse her with some humor. But at his expense? Not today.

"Yeah, I guess so." Kincaid chuckled. "Being half-way suicidal is definitely interesting." He stretched again before looking around. "This aroma is relaxing - but there's also aromas for energy and such as well."

Mersi nodded silently. She'd had two brothers. She knew about family torment. She had both received and given it.
"Well, when you put it that way..." She objected with a slight pout. She hadn't been thinking suicidal. More along the lines of, well, words far more complimentary.
Glancing at the burning plants, she sighed softly. "Well, I suppose I should believe you. The scent is rather... relaxing." Though, relaxing was one thing. An energizing scent? She picked another chunk of bread and nibbled it lightly as she considered the possibility.

"It's a rather dark thought right?" Kincaid shook his head before looking up at her with an amused gaze, "But no worry. I never tried to kill myself on purpose before - I just knew it was dangerous."

"Suppose? Why I hope you do believe me." Kincaid reached for more plants and twisted them together, "There's so many different varieties to create aromas with. The possibilities are rather scary actually." He commented softly with a faint frown. Some taurs should never be allowed to know the effects of scents for fear of what they would try to do with it. The male sighed at the thought before grinning.

Something told him that even if someone tried the stronger, more dangerous scents against Mersi then she would find the willpower to throttle them for trying. He especially knew better.
