Phone Call II

Narra : Good morning, dear son.

Ranjit : Morning...wait, how do you know it's me ?

Narra : *chuckle* You know, I've got this telephone telling me who's calling.

Ranjit : Oh yes, I remember. I've got good news !

Narra : Go on, tell me.

Ranjit : I'm pregnant !

Narra : ... Ranjit, even if you're part of a Nokke, men can't get pregnant. I thought I'd told you so when you were a teenager and had your first experiences and...

Ranjit : No, no, I mean WE are pregnant !

Narra : Who's we ?

Ranjit : Andraste and I ! *stupid grin on the other side of the phone*

Narra : Oh my dear waterfalls....I thought she hates you by now ?

Ranjit : Nah...not really...err...yes, probably still. But she didn't before and then she got pregnant and now I'll be a father.

Narra : That's wonderful, my dear. You know that Nokke pregnancies are a tad bit different, right ?

Ranjit : What ?! No, I didn't know.

Narra : Well, first of all they don't last nine months, but probably just...one or two *cough*

Ranjit : ONE OR TWO ?!

Narra : It depends. The babies grow much quicker, because we Nokke aren't able to get pregnant so easily and often and so...well you know, we need this to survive.

Ranjit : *shock*

Narra : Don't worry, she'll be able to deal with this. You should probably just inform her.

Ranjit : I doubt she'll talk to me.

Narra : Everything will be alright, Ranjit. Pregnant women need men to yell at, don't worry. I need to look after my stew now. Talk to you soon.

Ranjit : Yes, see you...Mom.

Spirits Arising

"Do you really think a baby will do harm to Jacosa ?" Holly, one of the four spirits, whispered as the others just nodded silently. It had been Light's idea to come here and check out the mother. 'You never know, it may be a monster. Don't trust the humans !' The other spirits had agreed and so they had gathered inside Andraste's bedroom and peered at the sleeping and snoring woman.

Luckily Andraste usually slept very well and didn't care about any noises, beside Jacosa was up and about to run to the toilet at night. This night was very quiet though and so her gentle breathing was the only mentionable sound beside the whisper of the spirits.

"Let's go and take a look. I'll push my hand inside her belly and will make it glow, so all of you will see if it may harm the otter." Holly was pretty sure that this wasn't a good idea, but if Light had an idea usually at least Ribbon agreed to it.

The grey cat slowly moved towards the bed and tried to figure out were the belly was located. He knew he was the master of the spirits, the only one who could help in this case and so he extended his hand carefully towards the human flesh. It seemed like his hand faded into Andraste's body and suddenly he felt a shiver down his spine as the belly started to glow.

Andraste mumbled and just felt a tickle, but didn't wake up.

The other spirits stared with interest at a small shadow inside the belly, which moved slightly. Was this the baby ? Pretty small. As Light's hand got closer towards the shadow it winced as in pain and suddenly wasn't so dark anymore. Ribbon was the first one to say something. "Be careful, don't hurt it ! Let me show you !"

The fox like creature quickly floated towards the other spirit and his hand sank into the flesh as well, which caused the light to become red. "The baby will be ugly, if you two touch it like this." Snow commented and also touched the belly, whereas Holly had no choice but tried to get the spirits out of the body.

This caused Andraste to wake up and all the spirits flew away into a corner quickly. "What the ******** is going on here...?" Andraste glared and first thought a nightmare haunted her as she felt movement inside her belly. Quickly she lay down again and tried to breath carefully. She didn't want the baby to die because of nightmares.

Her eyes trailed towards the corner but no one was there. Strange.
Andraste sighed and closed her eyes again, which caused her to get back into dreamland quickly.

Big Brother

The next morning arose and after some time in the bath Andraste was busy in the kitchen making some coffee. Jacosa toddled inside and climbed onto one of the chairs silently. When he had managed to sit down he grinned broadly. "Morning Mommy !" The otter smiled and looked very cute in his pyjama as he put his paws onto the table and waited for his cereals.

Andraste was glad the she had managed to make him eat something beside fish in the morning, because she really hated the smell of the fish. "Morning Jac." She replied and sat down with a mug of coffee and smiled slightly. Her eyes rested on the strange fish pendant around Jacosa's neck for while before she shoved the bowl full of cereals towards him. The otter smiled and started to eat very carefully, because he still remembered the day he had made a mess.

The mother sighed. How could he be such a morning person ? And afternoon, evening, night person too ? She shook her head and sipped some coffee. "Jacosa ?" The mother started and caused the otter to look up from his meal. Some milk was dripping down his muzzle and he grinned. "Ya ?" Andraste was about to blurt out that a fishbaby-something was on it's way, but she better forgot about it quickly.

"I'm sure you want to wear your new clothes today." She smiled friendly and the toddler nodded quickly. "An' pocket, course !" Andraste sighed and nodded. If she really wanted to keep that baby she needed to talk with Jacosa and make an arrangement in the clinic pretty soon. Just very very probably she had to talk to Ranjit as well.

"What would you think about...a baby, Jacosa ?" Andraste tried to look away into the steaming liquid in front of her, although it was just a toddler she was talking to. The otter pondered for a moment, but smiled. "Like 'Keela ?" The meercat was the only baby he had met for a long time and Andraste nodded slightly. "Yes, same size, but different. More like I look like...and Ranjit looks like." It was a strange thought, but Jacosa shouldN't mind. "I like that." The otter grinned and Andraste was almost too relieved to notice that he had used I instead of me. She blinked and then smiled without commenting on it. "Well, Mommy is probably pregnant. There's a baby in my tummy." She tried to explain and just noticed that the otter started to stare at her belly suspiciously.

"We all have baby in tummy ?" His eyes were a bit scared, but Andraste just laughed and shook her head. "No, Jacosa. Only women and right now, only me."

"Can we call it Keela ? Jacosa asked and continued to eat the cereals. "We don't even know if it's a boy yet." Andraste answered and moved to put the mug into the dishwasher. "Why not ?"

"Because it could be a girl as well." Andraste muttered and shook her head. "Don't think about Jacosa, I need to see the doctor first anyway."
The otter nodded and was lifted up quickly and carried into the bedroom. "Now let's see what's so special about your new clothes." Andraste grinned and pulled out the shirt she liked best.

A Visit at the Clinic

Andraste didn't feel comfortable at all as she sat alone in the doctor's room and stared at her belly. Right now it didn't look special yet, but those sticks usually didn't lie. Still there was the possibility of nothing inside...but it hadn't moved once, hadn't it ?

She had been told that Mrs. Sayuri Nitta was her doctor now, but actually she wasn't there when Andraste arrived out of nothing and so a nurse was supposed to deal with her today. It wasn't something special anyway, because it wasn't even sure that she was pregnant yet.

As the nurse entered Andraste still sat on the chair and stared at her belly with interest. She needed to tell Ranjit, if it was true. In fact she was scared of having to deal with this alone, because she had no clue what kind of baby was in her stomach.

"Good Afternoon, Mrs. CaerbHall. How are you doing ?" She offered her a hand and Andraste shook it slightly. "Don't know..." Was everything she said as the nurse told her to lie down. "You took a pregnancy test and it was positive ?"

Andraste nodded and pulled up her shirt. She felt very awkward out of sudden. "We will find out if it's true in a minute." The nurse smiled and started to put some gel onto the woman's body. It was quite cold and Andraste frowned at first. As the small machine was pushed across her belly the cold was gone though and the mother just concentrated on the wobbly and slimey feeling. The nurse was staring at a monitor, which didn't enable Andraste to look at it. "So ?"

She was tough in other situations, but this one caused her to bite her lower lip hardly. "Congratulations !" The nurse announced and Andraste sighed out of relief. "There's no baby, right ?" She didn't know if she was supposed to be happy or sad about it. The moment didn't last long anyway.

"No, of course there's a baby ! It looks healthy too. You have to be pregnant for quite a while though, it's already pretty big." The nurse smiled broadly and Andraste just glared at her for a moment. "Since Christmas." She muttered and stared at the belly suspiciously. It was a fishbaby, a ******** fishbaby.

"I'll arrange a folder for you and you should check in regularly now." The nurse continued as she turned the monitor around to make Andraste see the monitor. At first the woman refused to look at it, but as she managed to do so she was shocked. There was a baby...a real one. It had a head and a belly and...it was beautiful. Although it had been made by a fishguy, it still was inside of her.

"Can...have...picture ?" Andraste's mouth started to pronounce and the nurse smiled. "Sure." A button was pushed and a small picture was printed. "Thanks." The woman simply blinked and still stared at the ultrasound picture in awe. She quickly wiped the slimey stuff off her belly and got up. "See you soon." The nurse smiled and Andraste just nodded silently. This was a baby...indeed it was.

Phone Call III

Ranjit : "Hello. Ranjit I'sam here. Who am I talking to ?"

Andraste : "..."

Ranjit : "...Hello ?"

Andraste : "Stop saying Hello. Talking to you isn't easy, you know ?"

Ranjit : "Andraste ! I was already worried about you and me and everything, you know."

Andraste : "I can imagine. Ranjit, I need to tell you something."

Ranjit : "Yes ?"

Andraste : "I am pregnant. It's healthy and...well, you know."

Ranjit : "Congratulations ! Who's the father ?"

Andraste : "YOU DAMN WELL KNOW WHO'S THE FATHER !"

Ranjit : *chuckle* "Oh darling that's awesome. You don't know how happy I am. Did you see the doctor already ? What does Jacosa say ?"

Andraste : "Don't you darling me." *growl* "Yes, I did. The baby is healthy as I said, but a bit big already. Jacosa says he wants a brother like a meercat. Before you ask : I want you to move in with me."

Ranjit : "You...wait...meercat..WHAT ?!"

Andraste : "I don't know anything about fishbabies and I need help when I get fat and Jacosa is around. Don't think wrong about it though, we're not darling/couple kind of thing, alright ?"

Ranjit : "Alright..erm, Andraste there's still something you need to know."

Andraste : "... ?"

Ranjit : "I talked to my mother and actually there's something special about Nokke babies. The pregnancy only lasts one month or so...?"

Andraste : "...I don't know if that's good or bad."

Ranjit : "Well, I'll come over tomorrow. We can talk."

Andraste : "Nah, I'll come to work tomorrow, I can't stand home anylonger. You can come tomorrow afternoon and get your stuff in here."

Taking Pictures

The woman groaned as she entered the well-known building. She likes it here, she didn't want to stop working for a while, but as it seemed her condition wasn't very fine. Andraste sighed and moved into the elevator to get into her section of all the offices and levels.

As she got out of the elevator she smiled slightly. No strange arrangement of curious people...phew. Slowly she moved through the level and walked towards her office, which she had shared with Lisa. "Hey Lisa, it's me." She started as she entered the room and was shocked as Ranjit was there as well.

"Hey." He smiled and it really seemed like it was a pleasure for him to see her. His eyes trailed towards her belly and Andraste frowned slightly.

"You can already see that a baby is inside !" Lisa screamed happily and the woman winced as her colleague drew closer and hugged her tightly. "I'm so happy for you both, it's awesome." Andraste nodded totally not aware of the whole situation. "Let's take a picture !" Lisa demanded and before the other one was able to say anything, Ranjit had put one hand on her shoulder and Lisa took a photo. "Awesome, let's print it out right away."

Whereas Lisa moved towards her computer to print the picture Ranjit stared at Andraste with awe. He didn't dare to touch her in any other way, but he was well prepared for the baby. Full of joy he had bought a teddy bear and a rattle, which was stuck in his pocket now.

"Andraste, may I...?" The blue-skinned one started while Andraste was about to leave the room. "I need to ask for maternity holidays now...I'll be back later and you can come with me then." She simply stated and vanished as quickly as possible.

Finally Home

After picking up Jacosa from the daycare center Andraste and Ranjit drove home. On the whole way to the flat they hadn't dared to talk about the pregnancy and the man concentrated on the otter, who seemed very pleased to see him.

"Otta grew. You see !" He shouted as they entered the living room and Andraste opened her blazer. Phew, her belly didn't really seem to like the blouse. "She's in the bathroom, Jac." The mother smiled before she moved into her sleeping room to get changed.

Jacosa proudly presented his pet and demanded Ranjit to stroke Otta's fur 'vewwy gently'. He was pleased that the man was back again, because it always had been fun with him and he couldn't understand why Mommy was so angry with the blue one.

"What do you think about getting a sibling, Jacosa ?" The otter looked into Ranjit's face and tried to understand what a sibling was. It sounded gross, very strange and he didn't know if he wanted such a thing. The grown-up noticed that the toddler didn't seem to understand and kneeled down. "I'm talking about a brother or a sister, Jacosa." He smiled and suddenly the otter's face lightened up. "I like this."

Ranjit wasn't so sure if the otter would still like the fact when the baby actually appeared. "I heard that you have learned how to write." The otter nodded and the man opened one of the bags he had carried with him. A blue book was taken out of it and he handed it to Jacosa. The toddler beamed at him happily and opened it. But - oh no - all the pages were BLANK !

Jacosa was startled, but Ranjit grinned. "It's a diary. You can write down what you think or you can simply paint in it." The otter wasn't quite sure if he understood the purpose yet, but he really liked the shinies on the cover. "Thankoo." He toddled out of the bathroom and almost bumped into Andraste.

The woman was dressed in black pants and a long pullover in grey, which stated 'Do not open before Christmas'. She pointed at her belly and snorted. "That's great, ne ? It was a present from the GMFC. That's the clinic I go to." Andraste added a bit more shyly, but was quickly interrupted by Jacosa. "Lookit, this is die a rie." The otter explained and pointed at the book. "Nice Jacosa, we can try to write in it later."

"Help ?" Instead of asking his mother the otter had turned towards Ranjit, which caused Andraste to become incredibly jealous. "I will help you, Jac !" She demanded before the man was able to answer and picked up the otter to carry him towards the couch. "Ranjit will stay with us now for...quite a time." The woman tried to explain, whereas Jacosa just nodded and looked at his book.

"He will understand, don't worry." Ranjit mentioned and sat down beside them. It almost felt like family to be together like this. "I bought some stuff for the baby. It's in the bedroom now." He explained to Andraste, who was still very uncomfortable with him being in her flat. Of course she had offered him to stay in her bed, but Ranjit had told her that he would sleep on the couch. This was much better, why did it worry her so much ?

Jacosa looked up from the book and smiled. "We call him Keela, Randy." Andraste couldn't help but giggle. The otter had just made up a wonderful nickname.

Meeting a Rainbow

Lenachan358

It was time for another check-in at the clinic again, but this time Andraste had decided to take Jacosa with her. Still, he was only a toddler and he loved destroying things when he was alone. He would have called it making experiences, but the woman wasn't fond of coffee powder all over her shoes to see if they became brown.

Her belly already showed the signs of pregnancy as she opened the door and entered the clinic. "We get baby now ?" The other inhaled the air and wrinkled his nose slightly. Strange place, he had never been here before. Where was the fun and where were the toys ?

XBear
Luckily for Tourmaline, it was quite a warm day for January, and that meant Slush was willing to let his daughter out of the house, with his accompaniment of course.

"Is Tayn going to stay with us Mum?" She asked curiously, peering up at Slush, who was trying hard not to frown.

"We'll see..." He trailed off, noticing someone enter into the clinic ahead of them, squawking abruptly with a grin, "People! C'mon Skittles~." Slush chortled, half bounding and half dragging his daughter to the clinic.

Tourmaline simply rolled her eyes and went with him. Truth be told, she was curious about the furry thing that had entered in with the 'normal' looking woman.

The Skullmonkey in lead pushed the door open and grinned brightly, eyes brimming in excitement, "Hello there!" His daughter just watched, evaluating the pair before waving in greeting.

Lenachan358
Andraste was just about to sit down, because she wasn't fond of standing as two strangers entered. Her eyes examined the new ones before she spoke. "Greetings." With a thud she took a seat and sighed out of relief. Perhaps she should stop wearing high heels when being pregnant ?

Jacosa had turned around as he heard the door and had managed thereby to almost trip over his own feet. His tail wiggled in anticipation. There was a girl, a very colourful girl. She was taller than the otter, but in fact he didn't seem to mind. He just knew other animals, so he wondered what she was. Probably a parrot ? "Heyo ! I am Cosa. Introduction was always a nice start, hopefully she would like to play. The other big one could play with Mommy.

XBear
Tourmaline peered at the furry little animal, and was quickly reminded of Sanura, "I'm Tourmaline." She sent a glance to Slush before meandering closer to the smaller child.

Slush all but bounded over to the new lady once he was sure his daughter would be fine. Plopping down on a nearby seat, he gave her a bright smile, "I'm Slush~ When are you due?"

Lenachan358

Jacosa was startled, because that was probably the longest name he had ever heard. "...lin ?" The last part was everything he had been able to memorize and now he felt a bit awkward. This feeling didn't last long though and quickly a grin spread on his face again. "You get baby too ?" Probably everyone was here for getting siblings, it just seemed logical to the otter.

Andraste smiled slightly and looked at her belly. "Andraste. I don't really know, but I fear it will be quite soon. The baby is...a bit special." She sighed and didn't really know how to explain it. "The father's race is a bit quick regarding pregnancy."

XBear
Tourmaline blinked at the little otter, shaking her head slightly, "Try Sandia, it's my middle name." The next question made her eyes go wide, and she immediately made a face and shook her head, "No... This is my doctor."

"Really? We had an egg," he gave her a sage nod, as if having a baby come from an egg was an every day occurance. "But what race? We're Skullmonkeys, my husband and I."

Hopefully she wasn't a homophobe.

Lenachan358
Jacosa cocked his head to one side and you could almost see the gears in his head turning as he tried to pronounce the name as perfect as possible. "Sand-ia." Phew, done. It almost sounded like the other one had said it, right ?
A smile was conjured onto his lips and the otter started to giggle as he noticed the girl's face regarding his question. "I don' have doc. My Mommy gets baby. Wanna play ?" He quickly pointed towards Andraste and then looked back at the girl. She had so pretty clothes. "You look cool."

An egg ? Andraste frowned as she thought about having an egg coming out of her. It was then she realized that a birth was probably something painful and hoped that it would work out right.
"Oh that's interesting. I can't really imagine it, but it's interesting." She grinned a bit and looked at Tourmaline, estimating how old she might be. "Skullmonkeys...I think I read about them in the newspaper. People thought they were gone for a while, right ? Suddenly new members of the race appeared."
Andraste was too busy with herself to think about two husbands. If people were able to have fishbabies it was just as normal that two men could receive an egg. Nothing was able to shock her anymore, at least she hoped so.
"Oh yes, he's a Nokke."

XBear
"Uh, sure... And thanks," she beamed at his compliment, absently swinging her torso from side to side so that her skirt would sway a bit. Reaching up to tuck a stray lock of hair behind her ear, she smiled lightly, "What do you want to do?"

Slush's face visibly darkened at the mention of it being in the paper, "Our creator abandoned us..." He trailed off, pushing his loathing for QS away in favor of the subject change. "What's a Nokke?" That was something he had never heard of before.

Lenachan358
Dark eyes watched the movement of the skirt and he wondered why his clothes always had to be so dark. Colours were much happier. "Sandia, can you read ? He tried to make the sentence as perfect as possible so the older child wouldn't think he was too small. "I have book. Or we play hid and seek."

"Oh..." Although she wasn't good at being polite, Andraste noticed that this fact seemed to hurt the man and stopped talking about it. "They're fishpeople...basically. Blue skin and such. Ranjit says it doesn't have to do with fish, because they have legs, but I don't really believe it." The woman shrugged and tried to remember what she had been told. "They have pointy ears and...can sing songs that make people sleepy ? Don't really know, because I never really talked much about it."

XBear
"Yes," she replied with another smile, "What book?" As long as it wasn't something to do with swimming she'd be fine. She'd had enough dreams of drowning and didn't want to provoke another one if she could help it.

"Fish... People? How do they breath out of water if they're fish?" Slush was honestly curious. This was new to him, and he was quite curious to know more about them. "What are you then?"

The question wasn't meant to be rude, but she obviously didn't have blue skin so she couldn't be a fish person right?

Lenachan358
Jacosa quickly moved towards the pocked which Andraste had carried and pulled out a fairy tale book. "Is called : S-N-O-wwwwite." The otter tried to read the heading and handed it to the taller girl. "Is new, got it from Mommy." Since reading appeared to be the only hobby which was able to keep Jacosa silent for some time, Andraste had decided to buy him a few more books.

"Well, I just call them fish." Andraste scratched her head a bit embarassed and sighed. "In fact they are mythical somethings, who lived close to rivers and seas and lured people. They can breath below water and they can breath on land. Ranjit it half-human though, is mother is a complete Nokke. That's why he's not as blue as she is." The young woman wondered why she had never informed herself a bit more. It would definately be a good thing to know about her baby.
Listening to the second question she raised an eyebrow and huffed slightly. "I am human."

XBear
"Okay," she said, nodding and taking the book from him before making her way over to the fire. It was a little chilly by the door and she didn't want to take any chances. Sitting down, she opened the book, only beginning to read when Jacosa sat down with her.

"Humans are hard to come by these days it seems," Slush murmur to himself mostly, shaking his head before smiling lightly. "My mother's a vampire; I'm adopted obviously, and we have quite a few different species living with us... Jivvins, a Fa'e, and a few others. It's crazy in that house."

Lenachan358
Jacosa squealed in delight and just wanted to hug Tourmaline as she went towards the fire. His tail started to wiggle and quickly he followed her. As the girl sat down the otter tried to imitate her as best as he could and sat down as well. His eyes glanced at the book, whereas his paws were busily straightening his pullover, which stated 'Troublemaker' in bold yellow letters. "Ready."

"That's true. When I received Jacosa, I didn't even know that you could buy diapers with holes for tails." Andraste looked towards the otter who had managed to make someone read to him again. "He is a Fourth Wall baby. All of them are animals, but they talk and act like humans. First I wasn't fond of having a baby, but as it looks like I'm stuck with two now." Although the words weren't nice, you could sense that Andraste still liked her children. "Wow sounds like a lot of trouble. Your mother has to be a great person if she's able to deal with so many people. I already freak out when Jacosa decides to eat soap."

XBear
Chuckling softly, she glanced up at the otter boy before she began to read, showing him pictures ever so often. Like her 'mother,' Tourma was quite animate during the story.

Slush nearly choked at the 'great woman' comment, coughing to try and cover it up, "Well... She's sure different, and definately not conventional." He tried not to be too blatant. "Erm... Don't ever trespass on our property though... Or I'm afraid you'll become a meal."

Sadly, it was the truth. X had a tendency to eat trespassers as a midnight snack.

Lenachan358
Jacosa just stared in awe and was totally captured by the story. The dwarfs were actually the best part, nobody was interested in princesses ! Sandia was the best story teller ever, besides Jade, Jacosa decided and smiled broadly. His paw softly tugged her scarf and before she was able to say anything he embraced her friendly. Or at least he tried.

Andraste's eyes widened. "Er...sure." Although she seemed a bit irritated at first she didn't seem to be afraid. "I would make a great deal though, bite one, swallow two." She poked her belly, which didn't seem to react to the touch. "I'll make sure to stay away from your house...do you know if it's normal that the baby is so quiet ? I always thought that they tended to kick."

XBear
When she finished, she shut the book, and before she could do anything she was pulled into a hug. At first, she was cautious to return it due to her strength, but eventually did carefully as to not crush the otter boy. "I guess that means you liked it?"

"Or just make sure you come during the day and to the front door," Slush shrugged, giving her a half smile, "Well she's a vampire, so you'd be... Yeah." Reaching up, he nervously pushed his hair from his face. Maybe he shouldn't have mentioned that?

Lenachan358

Jacosa nodded and got back into his former position. "Sandia ! Sooo awewesome. Nice." He didn't really know how to express his feelings and so he simply smiled and nodded once again. The otter's thought trailed back to his first impression of Sandia and looked at her clothes. "What are you ?"

Andraste shrugged. "I work as bodyguard, I have dealt with several people." She wondered if she had said something wrong because Slush appeared to be quite nervous. "How is it like to have a child of your own ? I mean...Jacosa is adopted and an otter, it's probably different when having a baby of yourself...right ?"

XBear

She grinned, flushing somewhat, "I'm a Skullmonkey." Handing him back his book, Tourma absently smoothed out her skirt. "What about you?"

"Yeah, but X is..." Slush trailed off, shrugging, "Different. Let's just leave it at that." He sighed, mustering a smile at the new subject, "It's amazing. Especially since we're both men..." Drifting off, Slush's face filled with pride and emotion as he watched his daughter.

Lenachan358

Jacosa nodded and tried to push the word into his memory. He wanted to know as much as possible about his friends and didn't want to make her said when saying that she was a parrot. " I am an otter." He stated quickly and watched her hands as they moved across her skirt. "You want to be my friend ?" Jacosa really liked Tourmaline and probably they could meet more often, when he was able to read better as well.

Andraste looked towards the children and smiled. Jacosa had grown a bit throughout the last weeks and she still hoped that he wouldn't grow into a child soon. She liked him so small. There was much more control. "I can imagine. I didn't know before that it's possible to do this in such a clinic. But it's awesome." It really had to be difficult for all the species on Gaia to become babies, if they wanted one. Such clinics were really useful, the mother decided.

XBear

Tourma made a mental note to remember this, and nodded, "I'd like that." The otter boy didn't seem to be too much of a threat, and he didn't get her clothing dirty. Another plus.

The Skullmonkey was about to answer when he jolted out of his seat with a strange look of surprise on his face. He immediately dove his hand into his front pocket, pulling out a cell phone and relaxing somewhat. It had been on vibrate.

"Hi Sharkie~," he crooned, motioning over to his daughter that they were about to go, "Yeah, dinner sounds great... I think Tayn's still at home."

They talked a bit more before Slush chirped an 'I love you' before hanging up and stuffing the phone back into his pants. "I'm sorry, but my husband just got out of work early... And I haven't gotten laid in quite a few days."

He offered her a sage nod before heading out, "Bye~."

"I've got to go. It was nice to meet you~." Tourma was quick to stand up at the phone call. Daddy was coming home early! Positively beaming, she gave the otterboy a pat on the head before standing up and running to the door, clunking loudly on the wood floor. Almost like the dull thud of metal against wood.

Soon they were both out of sight and heading home.

Andraste nodded and blushed hardly as she heard about the sex comment. "Er...sure...sure..." She muttered as suddenly a nurse entered and motioned towards the woman. "Mrs. CaerbHall, it's your turn."

"Come on, Jacosa." The woman mumbled as she got the paw of the happy otter. He had a new friend, awesome !
As he turned around he saw another woman and felt bad as they went away. The otter definately wanted to play a bit more...

Andraste didn't notice the incoming person so and moved into the next room to get an ultrasound.

A bit of..family

Dear Memory,

Everything changed since I wrote last time. Andraste isn't angry anymore...well, at least not that much. I have moved in with her and Jacosa and she's not going to work until the baby is born : OUR BABY ! It's awesome when you come home and there's somebody waiting for you.

I still freak out when I just think about this fact. Jacosa seems to be happy that his mother is at home now and is an enjoyable little one. Andraste has drastic mood swings and loves to hit me once and to kiss me just five seconds later. I really don't get it, but I expect it to be because of the pregnancy.

It's an exciting change and I've got something in mind, which would help us change even more...We will see.

Ranjit

The Name of the Game

Jacosa squealed out of happiness as he was tickled by two blue hands and rolled around on the floor. Andraste was eating some chocolate cake and looked at a book, her feet were comfortably lying on the couch table. "What do you think about Afon ?" She asked and Ranjit stopped to play with the otter to look at her.

"What are you talking about ?" Andraste growled and waved with the book she was holding which was obviously a book about baby names. "OH !" Ranjit called out and quickly moved to sit down beside her.

The otter was quite confused and pouted as he noticed that the man didn't want to play with him anymore. "What does it mean ?" Ranjit asked instead as Jacosa got onto his feet and toddled towards his parents. "River." Andraste smiled slightly and looked at the otter, who was crawling on the couch to sit down between them. "Keela." He demanded and winced as he noticed Andraste's glare. "We will NOT call him Akilah." She growled and the otter fled onto Ranjit's lap who smiled quite serene.

"Come on Jacosa, we make a nice list of names. You can help." The man said as he grabbed a piece of paper and a biro. Jacosa wasn't fond of the idea, but after all if someone needed his help he'd never refuse.

Quickly the man scribbled 'Boy' and 'Girl' on the paper and showed it to the otter. Jacosa frowned and tried to read. "B. Bo. Boyyy. Stupid name." Ranjit laughed and shook his head. "No, it just means here will go the boy's names and here the ones for a girl."

The otter's face lightened up and nodded. Now he understood.

Andraste sighed. "Can we go on now ?" The men agreed and so they were busily looking for names. In the end they had a neat list of baby names.

Andraste was looking out of the kitchen window and inhaled the steam of the tea, which she had poured into a mug just a few minutes before. She hummed a lullaby as she touched her belly and listened to her heartbeat. The morning was the only time of the day when she allowed herself to be in peaceful unity with her baby.

She sipped some tea and almost spilled it across her sweater as she heard someone enter the kitchen. The woman still wasn't used to people inside her apartment besides Jacosa. "Morning." Ranjit yawned and stretched his body as he watched Andraste for a moment.

A grin decorated his lips as she turned around. Her belly had grown quite a lot within the month and in his eyes she was more beautiful than ever. He especially liked her when she was wearing comfortable clothes and he'd really liked to embrace her, but he restrained himself from doing so. Ranjit knew quite well that she wasn't so fond of this.

"Why are you looking like that ?" The woman asked a bit nervously and returned to gaze out of the window. "I just remembered how the baby got inside there." He grinned and just moved out of the way in the right moment, because otherwise a spoon would have hit him.

Andraste growled slightly and stroked across her belly. "Get dressed, Ranjit. Theses shorts are horrible." The man looked down and shrugged. "Comfortable though." She rolled her eyes and shook her head.

"You're not looking very sexy this time..." Andraste almost laughed as she narrowed her eyes. "Not this time, but sometimes ?" He teased and stepped closer towards her. "..." Gladly he wasn't able to see her blush. Andraste would never dare to tell him how much she loved him in plain white shirts. She wouldn't even to admit that she liked his looks anyway.

The more astonished she was when he placed his hands on her stomach and rested his chin on her shoulders. "I still can't believe." He whispered and Andraste smiled slightly.

"Go take a shower now." She still growled, but much friendlier.

Nice Timing

"Ranjit, could you get me some chocolate cake out of the fridge ?" Andraste yawned as she put her magazine about weaponry aside and looked at the man, who was reading the newspaper.

"In a minute." He added and continued to look at all the advertisements and posts.

The woman growled and pouted as he paid more attention to the paper than to her and a frown was slowly showing on her forehead. "You forget that I'm pregnant, DARLING !" She didn't even think about moving a bit, she had to stay at home, it was his fault, so he could walk for her.

He didn't though and just mumbled a "uh huh".

"I crave for cake." Andraste muttered and quickly grabbed the pillow to throw it at Ranjit. Just as she threw it he lowered the paper and the cushion hit his face right away. The pregnant woman couldn't help but giggle.

Ranjit wiped the pillow away and raised an eyebrow. "You could walk yourself, you know ? It's probably healthy for the baby."

"It's a fish baby and it's swimming around inside of me. Don't ya tell me what to do. Now get me some cake." Andraste knew he wouldn't go, which made her angry somehow. But it made her sad even more.

"You dooon't wanna go for meee." She started to whine which caused the man to sigh and get up. "Alright, don't complain if you're fat afterwards." He muttered, but the pregnant one heard it very well.

"YOU THINK I'M FAT ?!" Ranjit winced as he heard her scream and quickly evaded into the kitchen. "Come back !" Andraste growled quite loudly and got up with some difficulties to follow the man, who was getting the piece of cake out of the the fridge. "I don't like how you talk to me." She stated and Ranjit wondered if every pregnant woman had such mood swings. He doubted it pretty much.

"What were you looking at anyway ?" Andraste's eyes darted towards the newspaper and she seemed pretty disappointed. "For a bigger apartment." He simply shrugged and was about to take a fork out of the cupboard as he heard nothing but silence as a response.

"Why do you want to move ?" She said in a tone which sounded very hurt. A hand had been put on her stomach and her eyes were watery. Oh dear, what had he done now ? "It's not as you think..." Ranjit tried to explain, but Andraste just started to cry heavily and ran out of the room hiding below a blanket in the living room.

Of course the Nokke followed. "I was looking for an apartment for all of us." He started, but a loud sob was disturbing his explaination. "That's what you're saying NOW !" She cried out loudly below the blanket and seemed to have huddled up into a tiny ball of pregnancy.

"You know Jacosa is growing and needs his own room, just as the baby will." He continued as he sat down on the couch and tried to stroke her back. "I don't know anything !" Andraste pouted and just heard how the man sighed.

"Don't be silly." He started and suddenly a blanket hit him right away as a furious woman glared at him. "You started the whole thing ! I want to move, but you...you just look at the ads without me !" She screamed and was about to hit him as he catched her wrist with ease.

"Shh, calm down." He said gently, but she didn't want to actually. Andraste narrowed her eyes and tried to pull her wrist out of his grip. "Lemme goooo."

Suddenly she took a deep breath and her eyes widened. Something hurt...A hand was put on her belly and she stopped wriggling.
"Andraste...are you alright ?" Ranjit asked completely worried as the woman stared at her trousers, which were suddenly quite wet.

"I think it's time." She gasped.

Let's Hurry, Baby

"Where are the keys ?" Ranjit shouted and ran with a suitcase towards the kitchen, where he had placed the car keys before. Andraste leaned against the couch and was shouting instructions from time to time, while holding one hand to her belly with a pain distorted expression.

Throughout the chaos Jacosa stepped out of the bathroom, a little rubber toy in his left paw. "Huh ?" The otter stepped towards his mother and wondered what was wrong with her. Ranjit was running around like a crazy chicken and Jacosa couldn't help but giggle slightly. "Why does he run ?" The toddler asked and Andraste finally noticed the small one beside her. "Oh hey Jac...well, the baby is coming. Ranjit is excited." The mother tried to explain and gritted her teeth as she felt another contraction.

"Can I come too ?" Wow, that was better than every movie he had ever seen. "I want to see it." Jacosa smiled happily and quickly went to get his own little fluffy pocket. Ranjit was just about to burst through the front door as he turned around and noticed that he had forgotten about the most important aspect : Andraste.

"Come on, I don't want the baby to be born here." He took her hand gently, but at the same time his eyes fell on the otter. "s**t." The man muttered, which caused the otter to frown. "I didn't !" Jacosa pouted, knowing that he was dry for a few weeks already and didn't need stupid diapers anymore.

"Jac, how about visiting Grandma ?" Ranjit proposed, whereas Andraste handed him the telephone.

"I want to see the baby !" The otted demanded and was quite confused as Andraste didn't even listen to him. The blue man was already talking to his mother on the phone and Jac became quite upset. Why didn't they care ? Did they think he was a bad big brother ?

"She said it's alright, let's get into the car." Ranjit picked up the sad toddler without noticing his state of mind and grabbed Andraste's hand supportingly. Carefully they hasted down the stairs and made their way into the car.

Don't We Hate Technology ?

After some whining and begging on Jacosa's side they had finally managed to leave him with Narra and moved back towards the car.

"We should hurry." Ranjit stated and Andraste snorted. "Oh really ?! I haven't noticed that throughout the terrible CRAMPS !" Looking at her expression the man could tell that it really had to hurt and that she wasn't joking this time.

Quickly he opened the door of the car and helped Andraste inside who tried to sit down as comfortably as possible, legs spread to get some space for the belly.

"How far is it until we reach Durem Hospital ?" She asked and now her voice was quite weak and even a bit scared. Ranjit took her hand and smiled gently. "It won't take longer than half an hour. I'll promise, I'll hurry !" Andraste sighed closing her eyes and rubbed across her stomach with her right hand. "Fishbaby, hold on."

Ranjit turned on the engine and they started their way towards the hospital. Gentle music was coming out of the radio and Andraste was just about to relax from the contractions as they stopped. She opened her eyes again and looked at the man beside her in disbelief.

"Why - do - we - stop ?" She growled and hissed through her teeth as Ranjit didn't say anything and just stared at the blinking red sign in front of him. "We're out of petrol..."

"WE ARE WHAT ?! What kind of man are you not to know about cars, about births and about crazy women that will kill you if they don't get to hospital NOW !" Andraste tried to reach him, but quickly winced and pushed one hand to her belly. "Now you see, I don't want to receive a fishbaby in a car."

The man's face was full of worry as he pulled out his mobile phone and called the ambulance with shaky hands.

"Yes...she'll be getting the baby quite soon...yes, please....right in between Barton and Durem..."

Andraste was crying as he finished the call.

It's a New Life

As the ambulance arrived Andraste's contractions had become stronger already and Ranjit had forcer her to get out of the trousers. First she had been embarassed, but she didn't want her baby to be squished in any way. Not now when she had started to like it and it would finally be there.

The door of the car was opened quickly as a nurse looked at the pair. "Seems like the little one knows when to come out." She grinned friendly and quickly checked Andraste's state. "Phew...I guess you need to get the baby here...boys, get here into the car. She needs to lie down."

Andraste frowned hardly and looked at Ranjit, but somehow he just agreed. Carefully she was lifted from the seat into the ambulance as the woman winced. "Raaanjit !" She cried out as the man hurried next to her offering one of his hands. Andraste took it and pushed it so hard that he yelped. "That's all your fault !" She muttered under her breath and closed her eyes.

"Shh, breath in, breath out. Calm down." The nurse motioned and made Andraste spread her legs. "Quick little one...I can already see the head." She smiled and Ranjit was about to move towards the said head as Andraste pulled him back. "No seeing my baby before I do !" The woman growled as she was told to push and gritted her teeth.

Her fingertips became pale as she put some pressure on Ranjit's hand and breathed irregularly. "Niice...try again." THe nurse said as Andraste gathered some more strength to push again. Ranjit watched the scene with mixed emotions. Hopefully everything went well...hopefully...

"You can do it." He whispered and stroked her hand gently as she pushed another time. "Yes, yes, one more time !" The nurse shouted and Andraste screamed loudly as she finally released the newborn.

Everything was silent for a moment before a loud wail disturbed the peace. "It's a girl !" The midwife announced and smiled happily as she looked at the blue-skinned baby. "Just like the father. Congratulations !" She stated and as Andraste exhaustedly released Ranjit's hand he stumbled over towards his daughter. She was still a bit bloody and creamy, but her blue eyes were watching him with interest.

"Would you like to cut the cord ?" The nurse asked and Ranjit just nodded still a bit confused. This was his daughter and she was the most beautiful thing in the world ! He had to hold back tears as he seperated the baby from her mother.

"Let me see her !" Andraste finally demanded and the nurse wrapped the small girl into a bear blanket before she lay the infant onto the mother's breast. Andraste gently and very carefully stroked through the little girl's hair, which was of a red colour. "Nila Saraswati." She mumbled and Ranjit nodded. He knew they had agreed on this name beforehand.

The baby girl blinked several times before yawning and falling asleep on Andraste's chest. Ranjit was amazed and kissed Andraste's forehead gently. She had already drifted off into dreamland.
