Loki laughed. "Baahhh, who would put up with this old geezer?" He was kidding, of course; he hardly felt old. "Besides, I've been known to snore. I doubt any vixen would find that attractive."
In spite of the fact that Loki doubted he'd find someone else, he found Tori's idealism refreshing. It had been awhile since he'd heard someone talking so optimistically, except his children when they were kits. Certainly none of the Elders had been feeling very positive at their meeting. Loki sighed mentally and glanced up at the sky; what were the Modeities planning up there, that they had made all the tribes struggle like this?
He was dwelling again.
"And what about you, Tori?" he asked, looking back down at the female next to him. "Have you ever thought about a mate?"

Put up with him? He had to be kidding. Loki was the coolest and most interesting fox Tori had ever met. Whatever vixen could steal Loki's heart was a very lucky vixen in Tori's book. Yeah, so he was old. But so what? He was much more full of life than the foxes of her tribe. Tori thought about commenting on his jokes but got distracted when he asked her a question.
"Me? Have a mate?" Tori wasn't sure if she wanted to laugh or sulk. She settled in the middle and gave a sort of sad chuckle. "My father would have a fit if I decided to even think about having a mate so young. Even once I'm older, I doubt I'll ever find a fox brave enough to stand up to my dad for me." Tori had to resist rolling her eyes at the first part of her statement and choke down the sadness she felt at the second part.
Her father was scary when it came to mating, she knew that much from Arty's situation. There didn't seem to be any male in the Lunarie tribe worthy of her to 'Tali but he wasn't going to let some outsider take her ether. Tori shrugged a bit like she didn't care about the whole situation and looked up at Loki rather hopelessly.

Loki made a 'tch' noise at the news that her father was that overprotective. "You are not that. You've been an adult for some time, yes? You seem perfectly capable of making your own decisions on when is the right time to me."
The Elder saw how sad Tori was and frowned. "Personally? I think any male who was lucky enough to have you would be an idiot not to risk your father, Tori. You're a beautiful young vixen. He'd be foolish not to fight for you."

Tori resisted the urge to pout at Loki's first statement. "Of course I'm capable of making my own decisions. That's not the problem. The problem is if I make them, my dad will hunt me down and lock me up forever." She had to keep reminding herself as she spoke to keep her voice level and not whiny.
As Loki finished talking, Tori sat, blinking at the Elder as if she were in a dream. "You... You really think that...? About me...?" She finally managed to get the words out of her mouth. Loki thought she was beautiful? No way, it just wasn't possible. He was the cool Elder from the snow tribe that had fought a 'Deava and another Elder. He went on adventures and had children. There was no way he could think she was even remotely pretty... Was there?

"He cannot lock you up, we do not have human prisons," he laughed and then winked playfully. "And if he tried, I'd bust you out."
Loki tilted his head curiously at the surprised expression on her face. "Yes, I really think that about you. And that isn't something I say to every vixen." He shrugge,d not really getting why she was surprised. Had no one ever told her so, beyond maybe her family? He found that hard to beleive; he had noticed her as soon as she approached.

"Those caves can be prison." Tori mumbled not looking up at him as she thought about her father keeping her trapped in the Lunarie caves forever. But Loki would bust her out. And he thought she was beautiful.
Tori had always been the bolder one out of her and her sister. She was always told she was pretty and courageous but she had always been treated like a little kit. The simple act of Loki telling her she was beautiful made her feel like the adult vixen she was. And he didn't just say that to every vixen. So he meant it. That made Tori feel special and confident.
"Sorry, I don't mean to act so surprise." She said, a tiny bit flustered. "I think that's the first time someone has called me that in a way that didn't make me feel like I was just a cute kit."

"Yes, caves would be unfortunate," Loki blinked. They had caves in his mountains, and the Elder had been stuck with his tribe in them during blizzards. But at least that wasn't as punishment. Perhaps he really would have to bust her out one of these days.
"No, you are not just a cute kit," he smiled reassuringly. "Although I'm surprised no one besides me has ever told you so. I thought it was pretty obvious when I first saw you." So he was flirting, a little. What would it hurt? And he wasn't doing enough to be creepy...he was pretty sure. At least no oen had ever told him he was creepy...

"Well, other's have called me that before, but it's always been in the cute kit kind of way." Tori said with a shrug, trying to act like she wasn't phased by Loki's compliments. Although she was trying to act calm and cool now and regain her posture, her stomach felt like it was full of butterfly fluttering about.
When she thought about it, all of the males in her tribe were either never around, mated, or way younger than she was. Well, all the males that weren't related to her anyway. Loki had to be the first older male to compliment her because he wanted to and not because he was obligated to. Tori felt like she barely knew anything about Loki but in the time she had met him, she felt like he was the most amazing fox she had met and would ever meet. She looked Loki over and really took in his physical features. He was pretty attractive for a fox, even if he was an Elder.
"You know, you're pretty handsome yourself. I'm almost surprised to hear that you don't have a group of vixens chasing after you in that snow tribe of yours." Tori said with a somewhat flirty smile. Had she been born into Loki's tribe, or had for some reason ran off and joined it, she would have chased after Loki through the snow.
And then she realized she had developed a little crush on the Elder she had just met.
