darkphoenix1247 Kiashana ...I'm totally lost right now. Let's go with this: If I were Orthodox, and actually worried about this stuff, I'd have to throw out half my wardrobe and change summer camps. For me it's not necessarily with camps and stuff, but I mean, come on! How am I supposed to spar guys and learn takedowns without touching them? xp It's not like I wrestle guys or anything like that, but I just agree with Kia's view on this one. No offense, but touching a member of the opposite sex hardly means you're having sex with them. I'm sorry if this offends anybody sweatdrop of course not... http://www.askmoses.com/qa_detail.html?h=237&o=81309 - an interesting point

It makes a good point, but honestly- I can't see myself following that. I mean honestly, touching my male friends is about intimacy in a very different way. I can easily distinguish between intimacy with friends or intimacy intimacy. I hug my female friends all the time- and I don't like to place such a huge difference between my male and female friends. The more emphasis you put on the difference between friendships with the same sex and friendships with the opposite sex, the more difficult it is to keep those friendships with the opposite sex from getting awkward.

(there are tons and tons of other similarities between sex and food. almost as much as comparing torah to water)

rofl I'm not going to get into it- but you sounded exactly like one of my brother's friends right there.
I agree it makes a good point, but that doesn't mean I agree with it personally 3nodding

Zonko, it's not like I have sex. I mean, I've never even had a serious boyfriend. I just don't consider touching a friend to be even close to sexual in any way at all.

I just don't consider touching a friend to be even close to sexual in any way at all. and eating potato chips isn't even close to really eating. sex (and sexual/physical contact) is also like food, in that if you have a food you really like every day, it won't seem so special after a while. kia, you don't consider a lot of things the way i do. i can respect that. but it's not like my point is completely without reason.

Zonko, your reasoning definitely makes sense. And I definitely even follow some of that to some extent- I have friends who will make out with friends just because they're horny, but I feel that sexual behavior needs to stay out of platonic relationships. A platonic hug is very different from making out with a male friend for no reason.
