Bjorn was holding his own, for now. But these swordsmen were GOOD. He managed to beat one off, cutting his chest straight open, but while his claymore was finishing that arc, the other swordsman slashed Bjorn across the back. The big man roared and arced his sword back, decapitating the man and sending a fresh wave of pain up Bjorn's back. He couldn't go on...he had to retreat. Feeling ashamed, he managed to stagger out of the castle, and to the village, where he collapsed to the dirt, just as villagers came out to see what was wrong.

Enserric the Grey (Also known as Eric Grisham) We are trapped... Abandoned, on a small island. This earth... E was about to slash through the young fool's neck, but a voice stopped him. No, wait. Why pick the low-hanging fruit? This boy was barely an assassin. No test of skill, just another easy kill. Best to wait for him to grow up, and become wise in the ways of the world -- after all, nothing is more sweet than taking away just when they have so much to lose. People, like wine, grow better with age.
E leaped backwards, away from Gailor and Satoshi. "Methinks it is best to leave you for now. It would not be sporting to kill such a clueless foe."
E shivered for a moment, then vanished.
But tonight.... We're going to rock civilization.

((All righty! Timeskip! By the way, we're starting before Aki reveals himself. So no one should know who he is. Not even James knows.)) Two years later... Aki was sitting under a tree near the mercenary groups fort. He had drawn Ragnarok from its sheath and was staring at it. He closed his eyes as memories of his father came up."Hey, are you asleep?" a voice asked quietly.Aki opened his eyes and saw James standing there. He had been so caught up in the past he hadn't even heard him approach. "No, I wasn't asleep. I was just thinking," he said."Oh." James sat down. "What were you thinking about?""The past. My father, in particular," Aki told him."Hm...What happened to your father?""He was killed during the attack on Faren, along with my mother and sister. But, before he died, he gave me this sword," Aki said. It was true, and vague enough that James wouldn't suspect a thing. Many children lost their parents and other family members during the attack."That's why you always have it near you? It's from your father? May I see it?"Aki smiled. "I'm afraid you won't be able to touch it. Unless you are my long lost brother," Aki said, laughing slightly."Why not?" James asked, reaching out to touch the sword. However, before his finger even got close to it, blue sparks flew from the blade towards his finger, forcing James to pull his hand back. "Ow! Wh-What is this!?""This sword was created by a master blacksmith, centuries ago. He was a friend of my ancestor, so he made a special sword for him. To make sure the blade didn't fall into the wrong hands, he had a mage put a spell on it that allows only someone that shares my ancestor's blood to use it. Anyone else cannot even touch it, much less wield it," Aki explained. It was true. However, Aki made sure leave his ancestor's name out, because it was Daiki, the founder and first king of Faren."Hm...Hey, is it the same spell that's on Ragnarok!?" James asked excitedly. It was common knowledge that only the royal family can touch Ragnarok. However, not very many people knew how the spell came to be on Ragnarok, and James was among the majority."I don't know. Maybe.""Aki! James!" Hana called. She came into view as she turned out of the fort. "Ah, here you guys are! I've been looking all over for you!" she said, coming over.

Bjorn woke up slowly, heading toward a mirror standing near his bed. He turned and examined his back in the mirror. A long scar ran across his back, still red, though it had long since healed. He sighed and pulled a blue shirt over his head, and pulled on his pants, belt and boots, then went down the stairs to the forge below.
Ever since the attack, he'd started to work as a mercenary. But even though he accumulated a great reputation, he suddenly stopped, returning to a life of being a smith. He walked over to the furnace and opened the door, then looked around for some tools.

Franken Stein and Maka Chaka (Or Shanton and Marion Harding) He is all... Such an irritant...
Maka had grown in two years. Though she still yearned to avenge the death of her family, who had been killed by the previous king, she realized that, if any of the royal family had survived, then justice enough had been done unto them. Besides, she had her uncle. It wasn't as though she was completely alone, whereas if any of that family survived, they would have been. Honestly, she just didn't like the Fairen family, but that didn't mean she liked Gailor. She had yet to forgive the new king for throwing her out of the window. She could have died! Thankfully, she hadn't, which was why she was, well, alive. And thriving, too! Ah, it was good to be young.
Currently, however, Maka wasn't really thriving at all. In fact, she was glaring, quite angrily, at a bunch of robbers, who she'd caught in the act of harassing and stealing from a woman. And now they were making fun of her, which was just about the last straw. Her eye twitched. So did her hands. She set the basket of groceries(which she had purchased that morning) down, and out of a leather thong, removed a sickle. The robbers pretended to be scared, making noises that were supposed to make her feel small. They didn't. They were actually just annoying, and Maka would like them to stop.
"Look, I'll say it one more time: get out of this village, or have me make you." Maka turned the scythe so that the sun would flash upon the sharp blade. This was really less because it was a good idea, and more because it looked scary. And cool. And scarily cool. And coolly scary. And...yeah, you get the point. "Your choice."
The men, however, still seemed unaware of how very dangerous certain thirteen-year-olds can be, and continued to prance about, pretending to be pansy. Maka closed her eyes and took a breath in, counting to ten, and out, counting to ten. She did this three times, then started on a fourth time when she heard a cat-call from one of them.
The resounding snap (probably) heard for miles around came from Maka's patience. The sickle flew through the air, whirling up and back down in an arch, and landing perfectly in the center of the ringleader's chest. The man fell back, and Maka smiled. Perfect aim.
Maka had already figured out the roles. This was a five-man group of robbers. However, she had identified the roles, as her uncle had instructed her to do. In a five-man group there was always one ringleader (the one she had already taken out), two supporting followers, and two reluctant followers. Once you took out the first three, the other two bolted. So it was never really a five on one. The worst it ever made it to was a three on one. Which she was prepared for.
Sure enough, as her predictions had told her, two of the group dropped to their knees to, quote unquote, 'check to see how Ed was doing'. Maka rolled her eyes as she drew her scythe from her back, preparing herself for the next two. He was DEAD, obviously. That's sort of what happened when you stabbed someone, even if it was only with a farming tool. But that wasn't the point. Right now, she had two supportive followers to take out.
It couldn't have taken more than five minutes to take out the next two. They were on the ground and crying in that time. As Maka was deciding not to kill them, she heard the familiar sound of two people getting the ******** out of there. Maka sighed, kicked both men out, and picked up her groceries. She then proceeded to pull her sickle out of the chest of the dead ringleader, wipe the blood off on his shirt, and head back to the market.
~!~
Dr. Stein scratched his head. Actually, he did what his niece called the 'Stein Equivalent' of scratching his head, which was turning the screw which was jabbed through his skull. Big difference, but they did about the same thing:helped people think. Which was what the doctor was doing right now. Thinking. The screw in his head made a faint click-click-click noise as it turned, similar to a spring being wound up. For the life of him, he could not understand the man in front of him, no matter how hard he tried. Many, many times, he had attempted to understand the psychology, but it never went together. His eyes dropped to the papers in his hand. Nothing wrong with him so far. The doctor sighed. "Alright, I'll check your heartbeat. Would you mind removing your shirt, your majesty?"
I have left.
I wanna dissect you.

((All right! Time to set my plan into action! Mwa ha ha!))
"We have a new petition," Hana said. James sighed. "We don't get a moment's rest, do we?" he complained. Aki stood. "I'm not complaining. I'm just happy we're protecting the people, unlike that tyrant," he said. "I guess..." James stood as well. Aki looked at Hana. "Where to?" he asked. "The village of Tinto to the east. They have suffered from continuous attacks by bandits from the mountains to the north and they want them eliminated," Hana said. "All right. Let's go," Aki said. The group then started walking east to their destination.

Maka Chaka (Or Marion Harding) We are the same.
Maka squinted against the sun. Then she wiggled back and forth on her chair. She was at her booth at the farmer's market, one of the seven booths that sold food. Not to mention that her food was sold at a lower price than her competitors. So why was her business going so slowly? Ah, yes, it was because she lived with 'the crazy doctor'. As she hadn't told anyone that she was his niece, they all thought she was his wife, which could be slightly embarrassing when they reminded her that he was twenty-four years older than her, and she should be careful, alright, dear? Then she had to awkwardly dodge it and tell her customer that they were, uh, just living together for now. The customer would then (being a woman, usually) give a little giggle and pat her on the head and tell her that it was OK if she was in love, but to be careful, because he was probably rather strong, and then they'd walk off without their change. Which was exactly what was happening right now.
"No. No. We're not married. We're just...I mean...just...uh..." Maka's cheeks were on fire, and her head felt like it was going to explode.
"Oh, it's alright, dear. Love is just one of those things, you know? If you love him, go ahead and tell people that you're married, and don't let them make you care." The girl in front of Maka was about sixteen, and had blue hair. Everyone thought that maybe, gasp, the prince had actually been a girl, and was this girl? But no. It wasn't. Maka had known Piki (the girl) most of her life. Well, not 'known', but she'd talked to her every once in a while. She knew that Piki was married to an older man, which was why she gave Maka this talk. Every time she came and bought something from her. Every. Single. Time. It sometimes made Maka want to strangle something. But Piki was a good person, and so Maka never did.
Maka waved goodbye to the older girl, who had left extra for her. Piki wasn't so bad. She was just oblivious. Well...not too much oblivious. She just didn't believe that Maka had lived with an older man for a full two years, and hadn't married him yet. Maka shook her head, trying to rid herself of her blush, and returned her attention to the book in her hands. It was The Iliad. Which you should know about by now.
Why can you not understand?

Enserric the Grey (Also known as Eric Grisham) Center reticle over target, align barrel, pull trigger, wait five seconds... A man with black glasses walked up to the stand, noticing that only one man was there, looking through a selection. After looking around to make sure nobody was watching, and his voices claiming it was a good idea, he smashed the man's spine in with his left knee, pulling up his hands and snapping the man's neck at the same time. Quickly grabbing the bag, he started pulling things off of the farmer's market counter. Once he made sure he had everything, he started to walk off. Ka-boom.

((Just so you all know, Demon will not be able to post for about three days, so let's try to keep this slow so he doesn't have too much to read when he gets back.
Oh! And I got a new ocarina! ^^))
Aki and the rest of the mercenaries soon arrived at Tinto. It was quite busy for such a small border town. James looked around. "That's strange...Tinto never used to be so busy," he said thoughtfully. Aki looked at James. "Have you been here before?" he asked. James nodded. "I grew up here. It's usually very quiet," he said. "Well, we won't get any answers standing around here. Let's head to the elder's house. We need to talk to him about our job, anyway," Aki said. "It's this way!" James said and started to walk in the direction of the elder's house. After walking for a little while, they reached it. The elder was standing right outside. When the elder saw them he walked over, leaning heavily on a cane. He ruffled James' hair. "My my, little James. It's been a while," he said. Looking closely at him, he added, "You have grown in the past two years." "Grandpa! Stop it! I'm not a little kid anymore!" James exclaimed, embarrassed. "Hm...I suppose you aren't," the elder said. Then he looked at Aki. "Aki, I presume." "Yes. This is Hana," Aki said, gesturing towards her. Hana bowed slightly. "It's a pleasure to meet you," she said. "And you. I would bow, except these frail old bones don't cooperate like they used to," the elder said.

"We're here about your petition," Aki said. "Ah, yes, of course. And here I am blabbing away. As it is said in our petition, we are in desperate need of help. Bandits from the north, coming from Gailor, keep attacking our village. The local blacksmith helps to drive them away, but we want them wiped out for good," the elder said. "Blacksmith?" James queried. "Tinto never used to have a blacksmith." "He came here about, oh, one or two years ago now, after you left the village," the elder told his grandson. "Just leave the bandits to us. We'll set ourselves up in the inn and wait for them to come," Aki said. Then the three of them walked towards the in. Looking at James, he said, "Grandson of the elder, eh? Why didn't you tell us?" "Um...Well..." Aki laughed. "Hey, I'm just kidding. Everyone has something they want to keep secret." Or have to, he added mentally, thinking of his own lineage. They soon arrived at the inn. Hana stepped away from the two boys. "I'm going to go ask around," she said and walked away, leaving the two boys behind.

((Fufufufu...Time to play a madman! Sorry it took so long for me to get around to this~))
Gailor smiled loosely, his eyes dim as the voices in his head danced behind his eyes. He loved his voices, they made his life wonderful. They laughed and played in his mind while whispering helpful advice into his ears. One particularly helpful hint was the one about the evil rulers...
He was vaguely aware that his doctor was talking to him. The light returned to his eyes as he remembered where he was.
"Ah, what was that? Bill was just telling me the funniest joke and I couldn't hear you over him."
He leaned close.
"You know how loud Bill can be~"

Franken Stein (Or Shanton Harding) Well, they encourage your complete cooperation Send you roses when they think you need to smile
Dr. Stein stared that the king in a not-quite-worried way. The king was, undoubtedly, hearing the voice of 'Bill' again. Stein's thoughts were confirmed when Gailor turned to look at him and talked about Bill. As Gailor got closer, Stein remained unmoved. "Yes, he can be quite loud, can't he. Now, what I said was that I need you to take your shirt off, because I'm going to check your heartbeat." He pulled out the whatsit(You know, that one thing. With the earbuds and the hearing pad and stuff. Ooer. But yeah. You know that thing) and plugged it into his ears, clearly saying that this conversation was over, and that if Gailor didn't take off his shirt right now, he'd be subjected to doctorly wrath.

The king giggled a little and complied. He didn't much care for Stein's no-nonsense attitude but he did greatly respect doctors in general and Stein was the absolute best in the business. He just wondered why they didn't want to talk to the nice voices in his head as well as him. After all, they were far more interesting to speak with...
