Pop doesn't bother me, I just don't like Gaga.

I'm not attacking anybody who does, I just don't personally see the appeal.

Hollow- I haven't actually watched any of her performances, I don't go to shows so I don't watch many artists. Sounds like something I should see though. And she was in my area a few weeks back, but I missed it. confused

^The Gaga at Ellen

The other one you should see is her singing at the Grammy's with Elton John. HOLY CRAP. But alas, you'll have to hunt that one down yourself. The Grammy's suck and removed every single video of any of the Grammy preformances on the internet. =/

I also reccomend any of her Pre-The Fame songs. You can find her EP on youtube as well as live preformances. Type in Stefani Germanotta, you'll find it.

It just sounds like Gaga's just with worse vocals. The music really isnt that different. But I do enjoy this version of Poker Face:

Well, it certainly is similar, but then, its supposed to be. But the use of an acoustic stand up and a piano keyboard, and an electronic kick, as to where Gaga uses just the electronic bass, kick and snare. Plus the use of the saxophones and trumpet to act as the supersaw Gaga uses sounds really awesome. Beleive me, I like the electronic version of the music, especially since I'm really into that but in that polka version they emphasize more on the instruments then the voice, as to where Lady Gaga's version is pretty much "Hey watch me sing with some music behind me", which has always been a pet peeve of mine, so I'm kind of biased towards music where its just vocals with music put behind it rather then music with vocals added into it. If that makes any sense.

Okay I didnt want to get into this but you leave me no choice. My inkling is this: If you look at what she was doing before The Fame, it's WAY difefrent. It was her voice and her epic piano skillz, blended together with nice piano melodies/solos. She got signed and this dance/pop thing emerged. You may even be so bold as to say she sold out to get well known. BUt I think the old gal has a trick up her sleave. "Brown eyes" off of the Fame was VERY much like what she was releaseing before getting signed. Then off of The Fame MOnster her second single is "Speechless" and perfect Stefani Germanotta song, NOT Gaga, Stefani.

What I am implying here is that she's getting a following and with each new album she's going to release a little more of what she used to do, when she really did it. I think some time in the next few years she's going to jump off the diving board and into the deep end we call "Doing Whatever the heck you want and screw what the record labels and fans want." I dont think Speechless was a random pick for a single. I think she was testing the waters. She does more of this when she plays lives, plays with her voice uses her piano skill and just overall, does her thing.

I really should check out her earlier work then. 3nodding

But, I think you read my post wrong, so my apologies, it wasn't supposed to be read as me bashing her. But it was supposed to be me explaining the differences in both songs that I liked.

But about the whole singing with music behind thing. Assuming she actually does all the synth programming, playing, beat making, and composition, then she is very talented. I really do like the music behind her vocals. But if its just her singing, they I really don't see any difference between her, and say Christina Aguilera, and I couldn't give a s**t about her. But I don't think she pays someone else to come up with the music, it doesn't really seem like it'd be her style. Anyways, I guess the point of what I was and am trying to say is that vocally I don't see whats so good, musically I can see she is a great musician.

Personally though, I haven't found a better pop artist than Syzygys.

I don't care if you bashed her or not. I am always going to think she's one of the most talented musicians/preformers of our days. My point was not a defense, my point was to explain. I dont get the feeling you really know what she does, even now. She composes all of her songs, she writes the melodies, she (at the very least) plays the piano on her records as well as live.

My point is that she's not just a voice, she's more than just a voice. I wouldn't be gung-ho over Gaga, if she was just a voice. She's not a gifted, talentless hack. She knows her beef.

This has nothing to do with Gaga, but, given the preceding discussion about pop, that kinda epitomizes what I look for in pop music.
