There are a ton of anti-aircraft cannons, machine guns, and missiles surrounding their base. We can't just 'bomb' them, if someone flew in they'd get torn to shreds. We can't attack them head on in fear of destroying the main base, but we don't want to be wasteful and just dump troops in to overpower them. So that's where the story plot comes in.

Also, apparently, only 14 people are engaged in the battleground. You feel free to get the other 359 to participate. wink

I mean NPCs. Are you considering sending a mere fourteen people and some AFVs against an enemy who posesses eight battleships? Even if their ground forces consisted of only token resistance, there is a lot eight battleships can do with a good spotter.

And as I said, you don't have to enter the terrorist's airspace to hit them with gravity bombs. JDAMs are sattalite guided. All they would need is a plane flying very, very high to drop the bomb well outside of the AA envelope. Inertia would carry the bomb the rest of the way and the GPS within the bomb would zero it in to the exact spot of land targeted. This would be enough to kill their AA sites, which we can find from orbit via the same sattalites that would guide the bombs.

We don't even need to hit all of the AA sites, only their radar instillations. And if the radar sites are located on the main building then we can use a softer touch, such as a cruise missile with subordinance consisting of bomblest. They are too small to damage a whole building but they will spray shrapnel all over the juicy, soft exposed things.

You get me the satellites and bring them to me then! blaugh

Currently, there are roughly 10-16 NPC's engaged in the battle. Also, yes, there is a lot that 8 battleships can do. It's a wonder why we don't have more planes... but as a matter of fact, we don't use battleship in the Navy anymore.

There is also a limited amount of bombs you can drop from a satellite- first of all, they don't drop, and second of all you have to go 350 miles above the surface of the earth to re-arm them- which we don't do.

Besides, let's get real here. This isn't a full out engagement. We have a few other battlegrounds going. How many people are in the U.S. Military? Three million total. How many people total are involved in the Iraq war? Tops, including special ops and the command center, 150,000. How many combat units that experience live fire from an enemy in a hostile territory? Throughout the entire engagement, I think 80,000. 60,000 at most during any given time.

We aren't going to use every single plane in our arsenal- we aren't going to use every single tank- we aren't going to use every single ship- we aren't going to be using every single infantry unit. This isn't a full out war. It's a simple engagement.

In truth, your right, I could just randomly spawn 1,000,000,000 nuclear warheads and get them to go and bomb the island- Hell, I could introduce 1,000,000,000 Gundam Mechs that blow the s**t out of everything just in spite.

But this is a battle fought by the guild people- I.E. them and their 1-5 NPC's (if any.) If you want to use a plane you best join the airforce. whee

I didn't say sattelite-deployed bombs. I said sattelite guided.

Even the incursion into Mogadishu involved more people than this, and that was a simple smash and grab job (at least until the Black Hawk got shot down). There were about a hundred people that put boots down in the city, however there were hundreds more who supported them both back at base and in the air.

Fourteen people and a Stryker against main battle tanks, super heavy tanks, Mechs and a combined naval and air force isn't a simple engagement. It's suicide.

Military operations have risks but they also have planners who are willing to look at an operation from a logical standpoint. The success or failure of a mission rests in the people who plan it, those they send to carry out those plans and the ones who support them from behind the scenes. Equipment is fianite and logistics are always a concern, however not even the US military would be so reckless as to carry out such a hopeless endever.

You know full well that I'm not calling for an all-out international Warsaw/NATO combined galaxy assault. I don't need you making fun of me. However the diversion of at least some forces more than what is required to condem a Stryker APC and it's crew to their death would help.

No. Only if I've given you one.

@ Grayfox436- Yes, it is. Have you seen my name? Glad it's all in accordance now. If your so worried about it, then recruit some more people or join the airforce. Because as of now, we just don't have that many planes in this engagement.

I would suggest aborting the mission. We may run out of ammo and be unable to continue by the time we few soldiers get around to destroying the submarines.

Yeah-huh. Well that's awesome.

I didn't set up a giant battlefield so that I, the Guild Commander, could the bomb the s**t out of it with a million NPC units. So great idea but, it's unfortunately not going to happen. 3nodding

No, really. How do you plan on destroying the submarines with fourteen people, a Stryker and no NPCs?
PostPosted: Sat Jan 30, 2010 8:38 pm

lol, I don't. First of all, there are 24 people, NPC's included.

Second of all, more than fourteen actual people will be joining this engagement shortly. I have a submarine commander you know. rolleyes

Third of all, it's not really up to me. It's up to my guild members what to do. Not really my problem. blaugh

Besides, what commander hasn't sent his units to hell and back and expected them to bring back turtle soup with a golden spoon on a silver platter?
