"Here is fine," Kirin's gaze swung back to Zac in surprise. Kirin hadn't noticed the board, but was more than willing to stay here where it was warm and filled with coffee. Beat the hell out of the cold park and stone seats.
"Something else?" he echoed. "Did you want to leave the match for later? Is there something else you felt like doing today?"

"Oh, um..." he was face to face with the fact he hadn't a single idea how to entertain someone who wasn't himself... or Dem. Hell's bells.
"um... Nothing, in particular, If there was something you were interested in..." he answered fighting to keep it from turning into an embarrassed mumble. "Theirs uh...a new independent film at that... really old theater."

Kirin tilted his head at Zac. "Yeah? I could go for that."
Strangely enough, Kirin's interest was peaked. Partly, he wanted to know what sort of film would have Zac so interested (in his own quiet, ignore-me-while-I-fade-into-a-corner way). The other part was a desire to go see these old theatres and non-mainstream movies. Kirin wasn't scared of subtitles or plots that didn't revolve around one guy killing everyone else off, or an average guy somehow scoring the hottest woman alive (or both in the same movie).
He slowly spun his empty coffee cup around in a circle with one finger. A teasing glint entered golden eyes. "You gonna buy me popcorn, too? Cause this is starting to sound like a date..."
Kirin stuck by what he'd said earlier about not assuming things were dates just because one half of a pair wore trousers and one half wore a skirt (over trousers), but this recipe was slowly adding more ingredients that seemed to be making up a less than platonic outing.

Zac sloshed chai on his hand, cursed at it, and turned a particularly interesting shade of red at the word 'Date'.
"Um... " he managed dabbing at the sweet sticky tea before it overtook his sleeve.
"... sure? I.. unless you...prefer nachos?" Demy liked nacho's... he'd grown to like them, them or the junior mints.
"I mean... I didn't mean to... I just thought." What ever happened to him being articulate anyhow?!? He normally considered himself at lest marginally eloquent but this was -ridiculous!-

Kirin studied Zac closely, only the faintest dusting of rose on his cheeks to indicate his unease at being so bold with such an unknown subject for Kirin. So, Zac was actually planning to buy Kirin food. Still sounding like a date. But he was so flustered... had he not realised, or had he been hoping Kirin wouldn't realise? Kirin couldn't tell.
"Popcorn or mints," Kirin shrugged. "Nachos are a bit messy in the dark."
That was an out for Zac to take, if he wanted, though Kirin was hoping to find out what the other boy's intentions were. The nervous feeling in his stomach at the thought that this might be a date... wasn't unpleasant. Huh.

"Er, which ever you'd like? I mean, I do still...owe you for the karaoke." He rubbed the back of his neck, a casual nervous gesture. "We could get... like a small popcorn -and- mints and whomever wants whatever takes the left overs home?" He suggested. He knew at least a few people who enjoyed the popcorn even after the movie was over, so why not offer?
"Uh... I suppose I should tell you what's playing though, If you don't like it then um... yeah"

Kirin let his chin rest on his crossed fingers and gave Zac a tiny smile. "Whatever is fine," he said. He really wasn't all that fussed. Unlike karaoke, where the activity was more important than whoever accompanied him, this felt more like it was the activity that didn't matter, just the company that was important.
"I'll trust your judgement on movies. You've been to this place before, you'll know what's good."

"Lemie just.. check the times then?" He said and fished his phone out of his pocket and did a quick 'web surf' to find movie times. "It, starts in about 23 minutes, we have plenty of time to get over there." he flipped the phone closed. "It's called 'Ink'... I know that doesn't sound too impressive but I'm quiet impressed by what I've seen for the previews." He said trying to collect what was left of his dignity. Never mind that he was impressed mostly by the 'orchestrated movements' preview more than anything else. But appeal was appeal when it came down it it...right?

"If it's got you interested, then I know it's not something all flash, no substance," Kirin said. "That's good enough for me."
He wasn't about to judge a movie by its title, since they were so misleading these days. And it was bound to be an intelligent movie, not one of those so-called blockbusters that expected Kirin to ignore plot holes the size of Africa in favour of a half-naked hero or heroine and a few explosions.
"If you've finished your chai, shall we wander over?"

He nodded his assent and offered to take the finished coffee cup from her to throw out, after which he move to hold the door first. With all the flustering over the word date, and movie, and just in general it was perhaps amusing as he seemed to think almost nothing of these actions at all.
"What kind of movies do you tend to prefer?" he queried as they started walking.

There was surely a flush spreading over Kirin’s cheeks and nose. It was an unexpected move from Zac. Who would have thought that someone who got stuffed into trash cans for being so tactless would actually be such a gentleman? Kirin had never met anyone like Zac before. His mental programming was in need of serious updating. He had no clue on responses to doors being held open for him, so Kirin just had to nod and blush and hope that if Zac noticed how pink Kirin’s cheeks suddenly was, it was put down to the stinging cold wind they’d emerged into.
“I don’t know,” Kirin said, thinking hard about which movies he’d actually enjoyed. “I _want_ to enjoy murder mysteries and the like, but half the time they’re so brainless that even your average dolt in the cinema can guess who the killer is and how they pulled it off. Some action movies are enjoyable enough, but it’s like playing tic-tac-toe instead of playing chess – no substance at all. Horror movies are fun, if they don’t pike out and have the happy Hollywood the-main-couple-in-love-survives ending. And some foreign movies are really good...” That was quite a list, actually. Kirin shrugged. “Maybe it’s just a case of being too picky. Maybe I dislike all of them until something surprising comes along and makes me change my mind...”
His eyes darted to Zac, then quickly skittered away. Yeah, Kirin was totally still talking about movies there.

Zac nodded thoughtful at the comments about murder mysteries. “They irritate me, half the time they think that their keeping the identity of the killer away from the general public by never directly focusing in on the clues that might tip their proverbial hands. But instead they rely on ‘tried and true’ recipes for determining the villain, adding in sex and nudity to try and fill in their plot holes lest they lose their audience down own.” He groused.. “The closest I have come to enjoying them were, reading the Hannibal Lector books, the movies were alright, but they left so much out of the first one and beyond that they tried too much to focus on shock rather than motive. And...” he paused uncertain.
“I enjoyed the Saw movies, the first one especially, I confess it never occurred to me that the... Well if you, haven’t watched I shouldn’t spoil it for you, or you might not like such... Graphic films.” he looked embarrassed now unsure. Sometimes I get surprised, but for the most part... I think movies are, predictable. It’s like having acquaintances. You are aware of so many people in your life but how many can you –really- trust, how many do you feel the ‘connection’ too that they are forever trying to foist off as common place.”
Yep... All about movies, right up to the end... Yep... Really.

Kirin nodded along. Fire sparked in his eyes and his voice grew louder as he agreed, "Exactly! Why do they think nudity is going to improve every genre of movie, or distract the audience from bad acting, flat characterisation, and a plot so flimsy that it couldn't hold up a single feather." He rubbed his hands together as they walked, trying to keep them warm. "Graphic movies don't bother me. Well, unless it's pointless and just trying to distract the audience. I like my horror movies gory, though," he gave a soft, brief chuckle. "I haven't seen Saw, but I'll have to fix that since you think so highly of it." Another covert look was directed in Zac’s direction. All that talk of 'trust' and 'connections'... was Zac still talking about movies? Was Kirin was one of 'predictable' people? For some reason, Kirin really wanted to know – and not just if he was predictable or boring, he wanted to know exactly what Zac thought of him. ... That was weird, right? "I suppose it's worth it for when you do finally feel that connection... to a movie," he quickly tacked onto the end. "Maybe we'll be lucky. Maybe we'll find that connection today."

Z glanced at her... Was she talking about movies still? Did she not trust people either? He had a fleeting moment wondering what she would think of Dem, would she disapprove? Or would she grow... Sort of fond of him as he had. They were... He felt... What did he feel about her? Kindred souls perhaps, the other side of the looking glass. “That.. Would be nice, I... Really hope we do get a nice surprise... Uh...from the movie.” He added quickly.

They continued on in silence. Kirin let it fall around them like a comfortable blanket, not feeling at all awkward. It seemed Zac was on the same page about a lot of things: movies, people... the possible date-ness of this whole situation. It was a nice change to not have to spend every minute planning responses and anticipating what brainless remarks were going to come out of someone’s mouth next. Kirin stole glances as they walked, slowly growing more confident in his theory that Zac had the same confusing-but-nice feelings about Kirin that Kirin felt for Zac. He smiled, relaxing for once. Footsteps began to slow and Kirin glanced up. "Is this it?"
