Rika scowled darkly, raising her eyes to the Mizukage. "Pretend...to be shinobi? How could you make such an accusation? I have killed without remorse and I will kill again with the same lack of feeling. I execute my missions as flawlessly as possible, for what? I have orders that I follow for my home, for my family." She stood, the same mask of agitation plastered to her face as she flailed her arms out in exasperation. "I have found myself, Ikumen. I am a shinobi, a tool. I also execute my missions with my own will, my own frame of mind. I am glad for such a life, as things are never dull...but self-reflection does me no good."
Her face softened then as she turned her gaze to the boy, "I am glad you feel that way, however...It takes people like you to lead people like me who know their lot in life. I have no aspirations to lead, only to serve. I will guide you down your path until you get to that fork that you've just explained to me...the one that shows you who you are and I will await your choice."

Ikumen sighed,"Its an analogy Rika-chan, you dont get it. It is time for you to be more than a tool, my father wouldve made you a tool... I want you to live and be happy with the way you live, you are not a tool of war, you are my friend, you are a person, you are a life that I have sworn to protect!" Ikumen turned suddenly with slight anger at her initial response, then he stiffened it. He wanted to embrace her, maybe then his emotional state might also wash over her. No, he held back, stiffened this too and hesitated. "And what choice would you hope for me to make, Rika? ... What if I... choose wrong? Would you abandon me... give me what I deserve?" Ikumen sat stolidly with a slight plump of the water,"I cannot truly exist with out you Rika-chan... This is one part of me I know very clearly." Ikumen then went silent he wanted to here her answer, he wouldnt be surprised if she wanted him gone at this point. Maybe she really did care for him and he was just being ignorant and walking around a bush over and over again with out sticking his hand into the thicket and figuring out what berries it produced.

Rika laughed at the boy, not mockingly but out of true happiness. "For that one, Ikumen...you've learned your first lesson about women. Do not say anything you do not intend to be taken literally." She walked over to him and embraced him, still laughing to herself. "But you're still going to have to do without my presence for quite some more time, I have to finish this training and the Elders are losing their patience. Farewell, Ikumen." She kissed him on top of the head and stepped back, her hands blazing through a series of handsigns that seemed very well practiced. Placing her palm against his forehead, kanji appeared in the word that was defined as "Return". With that, Ikumen was sent in a burst of smoke back to the location in which he was sent.

She would miss alot and as she did things to him she had never done before he was surprised. But, he liked it, alot actually. Smiling Ikumen nodded as he began to fade,"We are at war with Konoha now Rika... but I promise I wont die with out you... not now!" With that he faded and disappeared returning to his office.

The entirety of their chat, Rika's body has slowly been taking in nature chakra from the sagelands. Her body was now starting to strangely morph into that of a hybrid sea creature and she was beginning to worry a bit. Leaping from the shore into the water, she looked desperately to Lady Mercadia. "Do not worry Rika, you're a natural at taking in the nature chakra. You won't even need to train with the special oils we have for new sages. But we now have to meet the elders before we can progress your training, they must authorize your training since you harbor that beast inside of you." Turning, Mercadia dived down even deeper towards the blackest depths of the water.
Following reluctantly, Rika started to lose the ability to see until a few massive angler fish arrived by her side to give her some light. They were fierce looking creatures, but they were happy to assist the new sage. After a few minutes of diving, they came to the dimly lit entrance to an underwater cave. The left walls were carved with the statues of previous leaders of the Aquarians, who in their time became elders once they aged sufficiently. And the right side was carved with the previous sages, directly across from their boss summons at the time. Rika was in awe, but didn't have the time to investigate properly.
After a few more minutes, she made it to the last row of statues. She noted that the last in line was Mercadia before the wall went blank...and across from Mercadia? It was a blank pedestal set aside fro herself, for when she became a true sage. She smiled and swam on, increasing her pace until they reached the mouth of the entrance. The epicenter of the caverns was a massive throne room with two seats. At all times there were two main elders and they shared the rule of the Aquarian Sagelands. On the thrones now were two fish of the likes that Rika had never before witnessed.
The first fish, the male, boomed out in a great voice that startled her, "Rika Minami, Jinchuriki of the Mist and the next in line for the Sage title..." His voice died away when the female's voice issued forth, considerably more polite, "We wish to welcome you to your new second home. At any time, you may come here and stay...train...whatever it is that you like. Our knowledge is your knowledge, we are friends here."
Rika nodded and bowed, somewhat awkwardly in the water. "Thank you, Honored Elders." Mercadia smiled, "These two are the oldest of the old, having lived centuries beneath this sea. They are known as Coelacanth, the most ancient of fish." Rika nodded, putting the information into the massive stores in her mind for later use. It was going to be important to remember everything that she witnessed here, it was going to be her home away from home.
"Honored Elders, I seek permission to finish my sage training. As I have a bijuu trapped inside of me, traditional sage methods will not work for me...I must train hard to master the power..." Both fish turned towards each other and their voices boomed together, "Approved." And with that, they left the chamber to a rear cavern. Mercadia was beaming, "That was the quickest meeting I had ever witnessed from the elders, they must see the potential inside of you that I see. You must go now, your training will be solitary...communing with nature is not something that one can be taught, but must be learned on one's own."

Several days later, Rika was still hard at work trying to perfect her sage training. Her body was becoming more and more fish like as the days progressed and now she was reaching the culmination of her training. She felt unstoppable in this new form, the water no longer hindered her movements in the slightest...in fact, it made her faster and stronger than she ever had been before. Taking in the chakra required inner focus on her part, which when she started was easily disturbed by outside factors. But today, she was sitting on the bottom of the ocean surrounded by a school of ninja fish that were discussing any and everything they could just to distract her. But nothing worked and she completed taking in the chakra in about ten minutes time. She stood and marveled at her appearance, her skin was now tinged a light blue...her fingers and toes had webbing between each extremity. She had gills and two antenna on her head, similar to Lady Mercadia. With a thought, they lashed out and pierced through a massive rock beside her and she grinned with delight. They were harder and denser than any ninja tool she'd witnessed...with the same sharpness of her Nuibari. With a singular hand sign...she disappeared in smoke and reappeared in Ikumen's office.
