"Why am I here?" Reluctantly, he allowed her to push his head away, a frown touching his features as her words settled in.

Boy, is that a loaded question
.

"Listen, kid." He scowled a little. "The only thing you want to focus on around here is getting out. Going back to your life. You can't just go around asking questions. Some things, you just don't want to know." He folded his arms across his chest, legs crossed on the ground. "So mind your own business."

Like I need to get ditched by some freaked-out girl. Everyone's a hypocrite...

...Not that I'd care. It's more peaceful being alone.

Yeah.

Her hand lowered as he gave her space, and she let herself relax again and settle back against the wall. At least it seemed his bark was worse than his bite, so she didn't feel extremely worried. She was just a little worried.

She was also caught off guard by his defensive response.

The pout returned, as it often did when things weren't going her way and she didn't fully understand why. It was a harmless question, wasn't it? She didn't like talking about herself, but they were stuck together and he'd already been granted a large idea of what she could do. Or so she figured. He at least knew it was cat-related. The only thing she knew about him was that he had an odd scent and didn't mind wearing old bloody shirts. But that scent was what really had her curious.

She decided not to press the matter for now. All of her reasoning would require her to explain about herself as well. Otherwise she'd just prove herself a hypocrite.

Her eyes lowered to the packet, and she gave an absent nod before bringing it to her lips. A second later, her nose wrinkled.

...I have to get out of here soon.

Riley woke up with his mind filled with fog, he reached for the lamp on is nightstand to turn on the light to find that not only was it not there, but that he wasn't in his bed either. Upon searching the walls he came to h conclusino that he was neither in his room or even his house. Keeping his head straight he felt his way along the walls until he found a door. He tried to turn that hands but it felt like it had something stuck over it that kept it from turning...glue? no, it was too hard and smooth. " Hmm." He grunted softly, thinking to himself.

" Hello? Anybody out there?" He shouted, pounding a fist on the door.

From the outside, there was a visible cold fog rolling out from under the crack in the door. Even though little light was getting in, there was some air flow.

What the hell was going on?

The silence was almost maddening, and so was the general feeling of helplessness as they simply sat around. She kept fidgeting, with her tail or the recently emptied packet, or sometimes with the locket she wore about her neck. Sitting still was nearly impossible. Yet, she didn't want to explore on her own, and Lake wasn't getting his butt up anytime soon, so she was stuck. Prowling around the room just reminded her of the would-be incident earlier, where he'd yanked her down due to a noise.

...a noise?

Her ear twitched, and she straightened abruptly, head jerking toward the door. "Someone's..." she began, then trailed off again to simply listen. One hand had lifted in a preemptive motion for him to shush as well, finger hovering distractedly before Lake's lips, almost touching. She failed to notice, her brow furrowed as she focused.

It was almost like a clanging, as if someone were hitting metal. There was another noise just beneath it, almost drowned by the louder sounds. But she heard it, and it sounded like a voice, too far to clearly make out.

"I think someone.. needs help," Kira murmured, withdrawing her hand as her eyes glanced toward him instead. "They're stuck and... Will you come with me?" She rose to her feet, but then paused a moment, staring down at him almost pleadingly while swaying with impatience. The idea of finding another person was very appealing, as long as they weren't worse than this guy. If they were, then she didn't want to go off ahead and have to face them alone. If they weren't, then they'd have a little growing group of their own, which would offer more protection if they encountered another, more dangerous gathering. Ugh, she hated this place. She shouldn't have to be under conditions that would require such thoughts.

Kira huffed out a breath and beckoned Lake to follow, as she cast a nervous glance out through the doorway. Deciding it was clear, she crept out, surprisingly light on her feet and making hardly a sound as she moved down the hall back toward the cells.

Lake's eyes were intently upon her as she prattled about - well, he wasn't paying attention to the specifics - over the top of her finger.

Someone?

Something about his expression changed just slightly, subtly...despite what he said, he had become subconsciously very protective of the 'group' that had already formed between the conscious people he seemed to think he was the leader of.

"Where?" he growled, getting to his feet beside her and glaring at her rather viciously. "What do you mean, help?" A pause.

...Someone new?

"...Is she hot?"

Relief from seeing him rise to his feet shifted instantly to confusion when he growled out his question. Kira gave him a blank look, and couldn't help shrinking away. She kept reminding herself that she had no clue what he could do, and if it was something dangerous, she had no hints on how to go about handling it. So she simply tensed and stared, waiting.

But as soon as he spoke again, her eyes lifted and rolled, and she allowed her attention to turn back away. Maybe she was just being paranoid.

"I guess you'll have to see for yourself~" she called, offering him a winning smile. She figured that would be enough to lure him after her. If it was a hot girl, then he'd be missing out. Part of her hoped it would be, if anything to just get this guy on to a new target.

Kira started walking again, moving close to the wall, and peeking around bends before actually stepping into the open. Every now and then she'd glance behind herself, just to see if Lake was really following, but she tried to hide that by peering past him. Hopefully he'd think she was simply making sure they weren't being followed. She didn't want to make herself seem entirely dependent...

Gradually, the banging became louder, and the shouts were recognizable as calls for help. However, the voice was also revealed as a male's.

...I wonder how good his hearing is.. she thought quietly, glancing toward Lake again. "We're getting close," she murmured a second later, keeping her voice soft. Another turn, and they were on the hall lined with open doors, which rose another question; Why was he trapped in the first place?

An answer soon revealed itself. A few doors down, there was something drifting from beneath it, almost like a fog or mist creeping out into the hallway.

For a second, Kira simply froze, staring. But she knew that if she was the one trapped and calling for help, she wouldn't want someone to just watch and then decide it was too dangerous. Besides, curiosity had flared up again. Giving yet another nervous peek toward Lake, she found herself creeping forward again, noting a slight chill in the air had appeared.

"Hello?" She reached the door, and pressed her hand softly against the too-cold metal. "...are you okay? We're going to get you out. Just..." Her eyes glanced about, but saw nothing. "...just move away from the door." She did the first thing that came to mind. She stepped back, braced her feet, and shoved her shoulder into the door. A second later, she was yelping and tumbling through as it swung open easier than she'd expected. It was like falling into a freezer, and she landed upon something that only added to her shivers. Except, it wasn't the floor.

Riley's yells were muffled by the door and left his intentions and identity ambiguous. He felt around the door and could feel the smooth material all around the cracks of the door. From what he could tell though, the door itself was slightly ajar. He couldn't see anything, but he thought he heard something from the other side but it was too muffled to make anything out. He then prepared himself to ram the door to see if he couldn't break it down, or maybe cause enough noise to attract some attention. As he was backing up however, the door burst open with a loud crack, and someone plowed straight into him, knocking him down and landing on top of him.

" Augh." He grunted. At least the door was open and it looked like someone heard him. " Thanks for the assist." He commented to whomever had just landed on him. He couldn't tell anything about them because of the light, as his eyes hadn't adjusted to them, so he was hoping they were friendly.

Lake had opened his mouth to inform the rather gung-ho, one-eared cat girl that he was sure it be a lot less strenuous if he just opened the door himself...after all, she was a little on the small side...but before he could say anything, she had ploughed straight through the door and into the room beyond.

A locked door? That's new... His eyes narrowed. Or is it just stiff from the ...cold? Why is it cold?

...What happened to cat girl?!

"..." He stuck his head into the room. "...You're not a hot girl," he informed Riley, making no effort to hide the disappointment in his voice. He didn't recognize the man, either...he must have just woken up, as well.

H-hey! Why is cat girl on top of... His cheeks puffed out as he made a face, clearly displeased at this new occurance. Grr...he'd better keep his hands off my woman.....women....

Kira blinked, looking slightly disoriented and suddenly frozen. She lifted her face from the cold thing she'd landed upon, and realized that it was somebody's chest. Her eyes widened, giving him a blank stare. Then it finally seemed to click, and she jerked up, scrambling off of him.

"S-sorry!" she squeaked, her single furry ear flattening back against her head as she scuttled out of the room, the cool hallway almost warm in comparison. She positioned herself slightly behind Lake, but to his side so she wouldn't have to stare around him, and wrapped herself tightly in her arms.

"I guess y-you don't know how you g-got here either?" she chattered out, evidently rattled by the sudden drop in temperature. Landing on what appeared to the be source hadn't helped at all.

Ice...

Her head turned toward Lake again. "Do you think... you c-could break a wall if he froze it first?"

...why am I accepting this so easily?

Riley sat up and rubbed the back of his head before standing up and dusting off his pants. " It's alright, no harm done." He said, there was a visible change in his demeanor after a few seconds. " Got here? Fraid' not, last thing I remember was getting back in bed." Riley began to stretch his muscles out, he felt rather sore, he was probably sleeping in an uncomfortable position for a while. " Froze it?" He said, a raising an eyebrow and looked around the room now exposed to light. The ceiling had large icicles hanging from it and the walls all had a coating of ice on them, the corners of the room had large buildups of ice and the floor had a buildup of frost. " What in the world?" it was obviously freezing in this room but it seemed like a regular temperature to him.

" Wait." he said, turning back around to Kira, hearing the last thing she said. " Are you implying that I did this somehow?" he asked, taking a step towards the two.

"Break a...whaddya take me for?! What makes you think I can break an ice wall?" Lake growled suspiciously, narrowing his eyes at Kira. "I - hey, don't ignore me!" he bellowed, interrupting himself and rounding on the newcomer, who seemed to only be interested in having a discussion with Kira.

Planning to get his icy paws all over her, I bet...!

He glanced around the room, then to the door, noting the blue color card located there.

A mutant cat-human and a walking freezer. Where the hell do these people come from?

"You don't look too cold for someone who's been snoozing in an icecube," he growled, his suspicion remaining as he rounded on Riley again...he seemed a lot more hostile toward the other male than he had upon discovering Kira.

"He's probably a bad guy," he found it necessary to add to the catgirl in question, clamoring to get her attention again. "You'd best stick with me, hmm~?"

"Because, you broke through the regular wall, right? I thought maybe the ice would help somehow. Negate the shock at the end..."

Kira trailed off, staring toward the popsicle in confusion. She wasn't surprised that he wasn't sure how he'd come to be here, but she did find it rather shocking that he hadn't noticed the ice. Or, it sure seemed that way, from how he was staring at it so blankly. He wasn't shivering at all either! She was about to point that out to him, but Lake beat her to it. Then he added another line that had her frown back in place.

"What? What's wrong with him?"

Though, when the ice man had stepped closer, she'd shuffled back a little in turn. It sounded like he didn't know he was doing it, so she had doubts about his control. She didn't want to end up like that room.

She glanced briefly toward the color outside his door, matching her own, and focused her attention back on him. What did that mean? Well, both their eyes were blue... No, that's dumb.

"Stick with you?" She felt her nose wrinkling again. "If it'd been the hot girl you wanted, you would've ditched me in a second flat."

To be honest, Riley was still a bit drowsy from whatever or however he was brought here. He casually rubbed an eye while exiting the room. He seemed to be taking this rather well. " Hot girl? Bad guy? What are you two talking about, whats going on?" He asked, only partly to them, he was thinking aloud for he other half. He inspected the hallway, it wasn't a regular building, it vaguely reminded him of a hospital for some reason. He turned back to the two with a serious expression on his face, he wanted some answers and he was going to get them from either them or someone else. Though from how they were talking he wouldn't get anything more than what he was hearing. Actually, were there others? That seemed like a good place to start, maybe round up a group. " Is there anyone else here besides us three? How big is this place?" best to start simple.

Effectively shot down for now, and not for the first time, Lake faded into the background to sulk while the other two conversed, sending them both rather jealous scowls now and again until Riley started babbling.

"Tch." Well, at least the guy was clueless. Lake, at least, had something of an idea as to what was going on, and puffed his chest out proudly as he realized this.

"If we'd figured out how big it was, we wouldn't be here," he piped up, standing unneccessarily close to Kira to address the other male. "And besides - where do you get off asking all the questions?!"

Scoffing, he rounded on Kira...he felt more obliged to be nicer to her, but on the other hand, she HAD just effectively shut him up for all of five minutes.

"Of course that wouldn't help," he grumbled, folding his arms. "Freezing the wall? You have any idea what happens when you combine water and electricity? Hmph...you're just trying to kill me," he accused, turning his nose up at her and looking away. "But don't worry," he added, the perversive glint back in his eye. "I'm sure you can make it up to me..."

As Lake retreated, Kira huffed out a soft sigh of relief, glad to be temporarily free from his nagging. She was both relieved and disappointed that he hadn't found himself a new person to target. Now she'd still have to put up with things, but at least noises wouldn't start creeping up if he managed to convince someone.

She glanced toward Riley again as he spoke up, her single furry ear perking again as her tail swayed behind her. "Well, uh..." She wasn't quite sure how to explain, since she knew hardly anything herself. Luckily, Lake bounced back quickly, and was suddenly right back by her side. Too close by her side.

Swaying a little in place, she tried to ignore his lack of restraint. "Stop it.." she sighed, upon hearing his additional comment. Couldn't he give it a rest? "And it's normal to have questions." He certainly seemed gender biased too... and possessive.

"...my name's Kira." She decided to turn back to the new guy, and start with the expected. Introductions were the only bit of normalcy she could find in this place, but even Lake had ruined that before. Her arm even extended, as if to shake the popsicle's hand. Then she paused, remembering how cold he felt, and slowly withdrew it to wrap her arm back around her body. "U-um... He says there are others, but I haven't seen anyone..."
