Mr. Santa Clause

I agree with The Cheese-Lady, but to a lesser extent.

The book was amazing. One of the best books I've ever read. I felt like Chiyo-Sayuri was my best friend.

I go to see the movie, with my hopes high, although I know I might not be 100% content with the movie. I still see it with an open mind, knowing that it's all up to the Director (who directed Chicago, one of my favourite movies, mind you). When I leave the theatre, I'm left with an overwhelming sense of mediocrity. If I hadn't have read the book, I would have NO IDEA what was going on in the movie, and I wouldn't care. Which is what I felt with other audience members.

If you've read the book, it's good to see the settings and characters brought to life. But - for anything else - you'll be disappointed.

(Keep in mind - THIS IS MY OPINION.)

I saw it last night to celebrate my birthday, and I thought it was okay. But that's probably because I didn't read the book.

I have a feeling that I'm going to see it soon 'cause of my mom and sister.I haven't read the book so I don't know anything about it.I think I can follow the story line because I understood the Matrix and that wasn't easy to follow.

I like the part where *spoiler*

hatsumomo was going bases with that guy whose name begins with a K, and then saiyuri sees them and then she tells the okira owner saiyuri was stealing but then the okira owner checks under hatsumomo's dress and there's um, um, man milk :B she was owned.

One thing I know for sure at the ending is that the main character blinks/takes a breath/has sex with a carrot. Well I' m sure on the first 2!

The ending put me into tears. One of the best books I read over the summer.... even better than Haryr Potter. :O

Saw the movie this afternoon mrgreen loved it but, I was a bit disappointed in some parts that were added into the movie and parts omitted from the book. Mini-spoiler: the okiya almost burning down in a struggle between Hatsumomo and Sayuri never happened in the book; Granny death wasn't shown; the whole jade brooch incident between Hatsumomo and Chiyo wasn't shown in the movie; and they didn't go into too much detail with Sayuri's mizuage, which is kinda a good thing xD. I finished reading the book (again) just a few days ago and yeah, my friend that was watching with me was pretty lost xD, so I think you really should read the book first. The ending was great and Sayuri finally finds happiness; the whole locale of the last scene was breath-taking as well. My favourite part would have to be Sayuri's Dances of the Old Capital performance, loved her big shoes in that one too xD, but seriously great performance on Zhang Ziyi's part ^^.

Sesshy just bought the book, and in the store, I read aloud to myself the part about the man milk on Hasumomo. XDDD It was wonderous. So, I'm assuming the book is better than the movie?
