Closing his fingers around the stone for a moment, letting one last boost of energy go to it, he held Bloodstone back out to Algie. Bloo was content and that was enough for him.
'Ah,' he paused, unsure of how to answer the question. 'We are, in a way. Blood is not all ways necessary for one to be consider family.' His tail twitched haltingly before he let out a sigh. 'I am well, if you are asking how I manage without Wren. My bond with Athan is stronger than most and it is the connection to him that keeps me alive ...
'Though my bond with him still exists and I know he is out there.' With a small snort, he shook his head. 'And still imparting traits that are not something I had in the past ...'

Algie recieved the stone gently and it settled on his finger, the enchanted silver band wrapping around his finger and then Bloodstone like an embrace.
"I am glad to know he is still out there, somewhere." If only because it meant his daughter would still be kicking as well. He had no idea how deeply they had intertwined themselves. "That connection is a good thing. I have not heard from Halo in quite a while."
He was clearly worried and he had every right to be as the person whom she'd assigned to tend to her whole family.

'Your daughter is visiting his relatives, I believe. That would be why you have not heard from her, communication through to them is ... complicated.' Hawk gave a small shrug of his shoulders as if to say what can you do?
'In my case, however, it is more or less picking up family traits that is bothersome.' His fingers reached up briefly to touch the hawk mask on top of his head. Some part of him thought he could have lived without the faerie allure. 'Loath to say it, but part of me misses him more than when he was around.'

"I've never met Wren's family.." Algie frowned as if he'd missed years of family parties, when in reality it was highly unlikely that he would ever have met his son-in-law's relations. "But from the pictures and paintings in their collection I can assume I am rather hum drum in comparison." He was in no way being down on himself and even smiled a bit. "I trust she is safe with them."
He was slightly intrigued that Hawk had picked up traits of Wren's. The fox tail seemed to be purely physical but the faerie allure was definitely much more of an ability, no matter how uncontrollable. "I wonder if Bloo will adopt anything from me.." He smiled, like a father imagining what his future son would look like. " Though I don't really have much of anything spectacular to pass on. Is it common? Or are you unique? I mean.. not to say you aren't unique.. but.. oh.." He chuckled and fixed his glasses once more. "You know what I mean."

'I've never actually met them ... Seen flickers of them in my visions, but not much else. I do know that she will be fine with them, that they will lead her where she needs to go until Wren can be found.' His tail flicked back and forth for a moment, before he slipped away from the bookshelf.
Chuckling, he took the hawk mask off the top of his head and held it in his hands. 'It is possible to pick up traits from one's soul-bonded, never mind others. I was never much for gardening, it is not my element, but I find myself ... growing things for Athan. Something that I picked up from him.' His eyes clinked mischievously for a moment as he looked back up towards Algie. 'The ability to form contracts is also from Wren, however ...
'The tail? When I was a child I all ways liked Lafe's tail and so I wanted my own ...' His tail swished back and forth playfully before he slipped the hawk mask back on top of his head. 'He may even pick up something you have, but something your family passes on. The allure, in my case, for example.'

Algie thought of what he, if anything, could pass on. There was nothing in his own family except for wizardry. Back as far as they had records and before, only wizardry. He hoped the stains upon his soul would not be pass, as that connection was something he hoped to keep with himself.
"I wasn't aware you could just will things to be for yourself." He seemed in distant thought, something common when he was mentally dissecting the theories and practition of magic. He glanced back at the stone resting on his finger and continued his thought.
"How willing do you think Athan would be to allow me to pick his brain? Purely scholastic of course!" His emerald eyes lit up in eager hope.

'We are made of shadows and can shift our form if we focus on it. Though after a point I no longer had to constantly make sure I had it - it just stayed as it had become part of who I am.' Slipping closer to Algie, he briefly rested a hand on his forearm, a consoling touch.
He knew the magic-user was worried about what his influence on Bloodstone would be like. 'I'm sure Athan would not mind. He shares what he can about us. Better informed guardians are more suited to care for their shadows.
'Just like, as he grows into a child, Bloo will not be able to tolerate being separated from you. Should you put great distance between the two of you, you will not like what happens to the household.'
Though Hawk was an oddity. He was able to deal with the strain of being separated far better than most.

"I don't plan on putting any distance between us." Algie seemed very serious for a moment and looked down at the stone. "I couldn't do that to him." Again remained unspoken but lingered there in the air.
"I will have to speak with Athan then. He just seems very..." distant, grumpy, preoccupied? "..busy. I suppose he is with all of the shadows and a shop to run."
Algie stared at Hawk quietly for just a moment. He seemed to be absorbing the other fiend's appearance, studying him only slightly. There was more enjoyment in it than anything. He truly couldn't wait until Bloo grew and developed. It was a little exciting for him.
"I truly appreciate you coming by, I really do." It was a help to him and the other fiend had been very kind and reassuring. He reached out his own hand to rest on the other's arm kindly. "It means a great deal to me to have your support though I know you came by today for your own reasons. I can't tell you how much help you have been to me."
