Nithiya Passion_Dragon thirdeyephilsophy Passion_Dragon ShiaoBella thirdeyephilsophy I'm learning spanish right now, and I already speak gullah and patois. I know someone who speaks patois! Sadly though I can't. sad [Where is that language spoken?] its from jaimaca its pretty much a mixture of different african languages, english and indian. In case you were wondering gullah is from the islands off the shore of south carolina and it's a creole of Yoruba, Portugese, Olde English, and some various indian and african languages. [Thanks, that's very informative. biggrin I figured it was from Jamaica, but I wasn't really sure. 3nodding

My goal is to have 5 launages down when I turn 21 biggrin [ eek Wow~! That's a big goal! But I'm sure you can achieve it if you keep at it. biggrin Spanish would be the easiest of the 4 new languages, and it'll be even easier since you're being professionally taught. The other 3...I dunno. I wasn't able to grasp Japanese very quickly and I eventually moved on to concentrate on learning just one new language so I could get it down before trying to learn another. 3nodding Good luck~! wink ]

Thanks so much biggrin Spanish is way simple, and when you learn it the other laungages come easily! Japanese is pretty easy once you get a good grasp on it. I like learning new ones, they are all fun!

[ 3nodding Yup, it's a proven scientific fact, I think. I watched a TV program on it once. I find language and human development really interesting. Learning language is one of those "use it or lose it" kind of things as far as our brains are concerned. As we grown throughout infancy into toddlers, we filter out those sounds that aren't necessarry for our native tongue, thus making it more difficult for us to grasp those sounds when we're older. 3nodding But, being the amazing race we are, humans can teach themselves things that aren't necessary for survival later on in life, it just might take a lot longer. razz ]

Foreign languages.... my biggest passion. whee heart Luckily for me, languages are pretty simple for me to learn. I can speak: English, German, French, Russian, Romanian, Norwegian, Dutch and Basque. Since languages are also related, I can understand [but speak very little] Polish, some Ukranian and Czech, Swedish, Danish, Different German dialects, Spanish, a small portion of Irish... I can speak a little Japanese, Korean and chinese, but I can't read very well. I do really want to learn Papiamentu, Swahili, Sesotho, All germanic languages, all Romantic languages, arabic... my language goals are so big. :XP:

I think I'd like to learn it. 3nodding In fact, Kaenai had an idea of a language subforum here. I'd like to go ahead and set it up, but only if people are going to be actively participating there... neutral ]
