Blaice breathed in the scent of chocolate, warm milk and what was surely baked goods. "Mm I think so." This little sidetrip seemed like a better idea by the minute, especially if there were shortbread cookies inside.
Iggy eyed the place suspiciously "What if a woman inside wants to eat us?" For some reason the story of Hansle and gretle had popped into his head at just that moment.

Vance snorted, shaking his head. "If they were going to eat us, they'd be in the woods and not near a city." he pointed out, nudging the children to the door with his free hand.
Maggie dashed forward to open it up and grinned as she spotted clear covered plates of cookies and cakes. "Oooooh! Look, Iggy!"

Iggy's glassy blue eyes went wide and he paused in the doorway to just stare "There's a million treats." His mother made treats sometimes but not this many or this many kinds.

The girl behind the counter laughed and nodded. "Sure kid." she said, changing the pots on the coffee machine.
Vance grinned, "All right, I'll buy a drink and one treat for each of you at first. We can talk about seconds after. What kind do you want?' he said, lifting Maggie and Iggy up to look at the menu.

Iggy was surprised but pleased at being picked up, despite being in the air he felt quite safe in his new father's arms. The will o the wisp boy's blue eyes scanned the menu, understanding only perhaps half of it, before he pointed towards the drink listing " Apple cider." Iggy had drunk plenty of apple juice before but it was always cold never warm and he was curious to know what it would taste like. "And a cookie." What kind of cookie clearly didn't matter.
Blaice just laughed softly at the cuteness of the scene " Remember to say please," she chided gently. Just becuase Vance was offering didn't mean Iggy just forget his manners

Maggie grinned, "I'll have cider too! And a cinnamon cookie!" she said happily, her tail flicking as she looked over them. "Ooh! Look, Iggy, they have spicy cakes!"
Vance snorted, "Spice Cakes, Maggie, Spice Cakes. Spicy cakes are something else."
