The guard was rather grumpy. Behind the gates the house was still celebrating and feasting, meanwhile he simply stood there. So when the messenger arrived, he felt a little better, but only because it would ruin somebody else partying. Grinning, he nodded to the messenger, "Enter then into the great-into the Entry Hall. They'll guide you to a portal from there."He said as he gave the signal for the gates to be raised and for people to be ready inside. With a sigh he watch the messenger pass through, maybe today won't be bad after all. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Entering the Entry Hall, the messenger was confronted with a girl with a blindfold half on her face and a guard. The guard check the messenger over and then nodded to the girl. "Welcome and please follow me quickly. We've have something urgent, yes?" And with that she set off down the hall towards two set of stairs, But instead of going up. The girl flipped up her hand and created a portal which she and the messenger stepped through. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Meanwhile, Nariel was watching as the final touch to her throne room was completed. She could hear the faint partying of her people. Yes they are now my people. She thought and the watched the slaves place the throne down on the final platform. "Ilharess" Said Chaldor behind her."I've been given a warning from the guards at the Eastern gate. They say that there is a messenger there with an important massive from the Aleanrae." Nariel glance around and saw that the room was ready. "Perfect timing." She rushed to the throne as Chaldor took his place. Once there he signal the doors to be opened. Just as they opened a portal appeared and the girl and messenger stepped out. The girl indicated for the messenger to go ahead. Once through the door they closed behind the messenger. In a welcoming and calm voice Nariel stood and stated, "I've heard there is an important and urgent message from Qu'ellar Aleanrae. Please present this message." (I'm not sure when I'll be on, so skipped ahead.)

The messanger bows to the matron respectfuly before saying " Ilharess of the honorable second house, your allies need your assistance, even now we seek to fulfill our masked lord's will, even now our matron awaits your arrival in the city square so that we may present a combined front to those that oppose the true might of Vhaeraun. We humbly ask that you send your forces to join us in the throwing down of our oppositions symbols of power, there temples and holy places, so that in doing so our masked lord will have an unwavering unapposed hold in this city and prove once and for all that the masked lords forces arent to be trifled with lightly." finishing his statement with another bow.

Nariel nodded as she heard the message. " I will present myself in the city square, with my forces soon. Tell your Ilharess that I, Nariel Hlairyn new matron of the new Hlairyn house will be glad to join her and her forces in the city proper. We will hasten to mark that this city is indeed a city for the Masked one." She stated and the letting the messenger bow once more and the exist the room to take the portal back to the Western Gate. "Chaldor, gather my personal guard and the two small guard stations. Its a sad presentation compared to our ally's forces, but its all we have. Send a messenger to the magical counsel and tell them the gather the magical guard. A the sound weavers to gather theirs. We'll split them up among the two guard stations." Chaldor nodded before he too rushed off to gather the forces. Nariel got up and the with her personal servants rushed to her room to prepare her appearance. Ready she traveled to the Eastern gates to with her personal guards and upon her mount at the head of the party set off to the city proper.

Nariel paced infront of the fire in her new private room. The new inner fortress seemed slightly empty, with out the many feet of people. Maybe we shouldn't have built it to be so...large. She thought and then stopped moving. No it is better this way. Sitting down, She sighed. It wasn't that there wasn't anything big to do. There was a fortress, trading docks, and magical school to look over. It was, the isolation that was getting to her. With a sigh, she peered into the fire when a knock at the door called her attention. "Come in," "Greetings, Illhress. I come with a message from the magical sector. They say they have Seen something of importance. You will want to hurry." Said the servant after coming out of a deep bow. Heaving her self out of the seat, she heads towards her dressing room while calling over her shoulder. "Tell the head of the personal guard, I remember him talking about the need to escort me everywhere. Well he can start now." She said as her personal slave and servant rushed around to prepare for her leaving. Well, I did need something to do. She thought.

Nariel enter a circular room with a long table and high walls. The ceiling was lighted blue stain glass which depicted the Hlairyn crest. A few coughs went up as she walked calmly to her seat at the head and her guards took their positions. "Alright tell me what this vision is about." She stated bluntly. "It appears that once the city is firmly in the Aleanrae hands, our position will be much sought after. We believe that finding a heir for the house is important. We wished to inform you of this." One of the mage's stated. "Do you believe my life will be so endangered that I will die an early death." She narrowed her eyes as she coldly looked around the table. "No, not at all." Another said shifting in the chair she sat. "We merely think that it should be moved up. We have seen a new house emerging now that the webs and garbage are removed." For a while there was only silence, eerie and uncomfortable. People shifted in their chairs, coughed, and bit their lips as they waited for the Ilharess's response. "Fine, we will move up the importance of the heir. You will focus some of the search towards a proper mate. If that is it." She curtly said. "Then I will leave you and remember I don't want to come here again on pointless stuff that should instead be brought to me. Understood." "Yes, Ilharess" They said in unison.

Nariel shuffled through the papers on her desk. Leaning back she read through them. It wasn't anything amazing. Just reports. The criminals who had managed to gain some control of the under handed society of the city. The former temples were back in order. The clan's port side was prospering from the new trade with the other house. Oh and there was talks that another new clan might appear. The gossip was what worried her. All of it undermined the current clan's in power. Leaning her elbows on the table, her hands took on the extra weight. This problem will have to be solved quietly.

Feet pacing the ground in rapid secession, Nariel calculated the conclusion of this things that surrounded them. Those she had called gathered in the meeting room of the larger fortress. "As things stand in the city, our power is second. Which by us, is fine, but...For all the powers of the first House. There is very little actually order. The city must be organized and in some sort of order," Her eyes piecing those who sat before her. "I have a task to the craftsmen, build us a square that is great enough to awe, but clear enough for us to organize around. We need to re-organize as well as clean up. And the sword is useful, but the mind will return to its origin if the environment is the same. This place needs our order. So let us get to business." All those present nodded with purpose and intent clear in their eyes.

A sharp tapping sound resonated and then broke through Nariel's trance. Her head snapped back to look at her guard. Another knock sounded, then three more. It appeared to be important and safe. "Fine, inform them that I'm coming." She state curtly as she stood from her butterfly seat. Chaldor stood outside with her guard. By Shar and the Masked Lord will lets this not be too important. "What is so important that you must break my view of the progress or lack there of in the city?" "It is our ally, Ilharess. The Aleanrae House has-" "I know...disappeared. The old lord of the Duu'giir didn't quiet approve of the House and has whisk them all away. Where I can not see, but its clear that we will have to be careful. Misery loves companion, so lets try to make sure we don't end up like our former ally." "We're cutting ties with them." A chortle was her immediate response before stating,"Who are you talking about Chaldor? We have never been allied with anyone." Chaldor paused, half-smiled, and then nodded. "Of course Ilharess. It was my mistake and error." "Well see that no one else makes it, okay." Chaldor nodded and then walked out. A smile staining his face.

Nariel rubbed her head. The urge to go and complete the task herself was high, but she simply allowed her harsh dashed written words to convey the death sentence. Handing it to a slave, who waited nearby, the slave scurried towards the door only to get hit with it. The guards tensed and then relaxed as Chaldor whooshed past, ignoring the now scrambling slave. "Ilharess, important news. It appears that Ilharn Val'atar has appeared and will be seeking those who tried to take advantage of his leave. What will be our next step, sure'll he will assume we have-" Nariel's hand cut him off, "He has nothing to assume about us. We are new and despite the fact that our soldiers were out in the city, they didn't do anything to counter his power. We simply made sure that our position was solid. The foolish ones who attempted to counter it are gone, though I know where they are. Don't worry about it, Chaldor, we are well enough in this new power shift." Chaldor gave a small bow, "You are truly fit for your position, Ilharess." Nariel leaned back in her seat, "Tell the people there is to be a celebration in his honor. And...tell the guards I might be going out. He might want to assert his power over our Quellar, to make sure we don't forget our place. No doubt his power will be so vast, that it will drive all my rational thought away. Have the group ready just in case." Chaldor gave a quick nod, then bowed and left Nariel to her ever increasing depressing thoughts.

Having walked all the way from his estate, the Ilharn of Qu'ellar Druu'giir arrived at the gate with a rather large following of curious beings who stayed just out of their imagined safe zone around the drow lord. He paid them little notice as he indicated his arrival to the guards and waited for admittance to the house grounds.
"Inform Matron Nariel Hlairyn that Val'atar Druu'giir has arrived and seeks council with her to speak on terms of alliance and the city's state of affairs."

The guards had been told what to expect, they had known, but that differed greatly from the present. A moment of silence past, and then quickly one walked to a large purple gem set in the wall, while the other worked to open the gates. Chaldor stood in the entrance way. Spotting the Ilharn, he preformed a mid-chest bow. “Please, follow me, Ilharn Val’atar Druu’giir."
He then set off down a long hall. Those they passed, bowed to them. At the end, was a two way stair cases between which was a young drowess. As they neared, she opened the portal that had been laid into the ground.
Meanwhile…
Nariel stood in amazement. wearing a gown of royal blue and gold. The front and hems were designed with careful swirls of gold, while the back was open. The two golems that stood before her were a true sight. One was a four legged metal warrior, each bladed leg was than more then a foot in width and of the finest forging. Towering at about 6 feet, it was taller then its neighbor though not as well armored. The other was about 5’5”, with black plate armor, and the House crest glowing faintly on the chest plate. It was an improved model of the one that stood guard outside the throne room.
“ It is truly amazing, I thank you both for such excellent work.” Her long bellowing sleeves sighed as she walked around the items as the two people explained.
“Well, Ilharess, there is still some work that needs to be done, but they are basically ready,” explained the Head of Mage craft. “Yes, with a bit more forging and rune added they should be able to handle at least a force of about 10 man,” the Forge Mistress stated.
“Good, good…,” Nariel trailed off when she noted that the purple gem above the throne room door glow indicating a visitors. “Let’s try them out. Put them in between the pillars by the throne. We have a visitor; let us see what they think of our works.”
They both nodded and took their places. At that moment, the portal deposited Chaldor and Ilharn Val’atar. The golem guards outside were shifted to attack, but eased when Chaldor raised his hands. Stepping back they opened the door.
Chaldor stepped forward and announced “Ilharess, I present Ilharn Val’atar Druu’giir. He is here to negotiate an alliance.”
Nariel nodded her understand of Chaldor’s words, but the sweat on his face made it clear to her that he had felt the power of the Ilharn. It was hard not too. “Greetings, Ilharn Val’atar. Welcome to my humble House.” She stated raising from the throne she had just stationed herself in.

He strode into the audience chamber as if it was his own, his gaze finding that of the Matron and staying there while he casually walked towards her. Ignoring the golems and the guards, he walks up to her and with a smirk, bows formally at the waist. Fierce eyes remain on her as he returns to his upright position and then settles himself, smoothing his dark battle tunic and cloak before glancing around briefly. "Ah, Ilharess Nariel. I have heard many things about you and your house. Fine looking golems you have had created, perhaps you might consider the spider golems that we use, they are much bigger, cast spells and are mostly immune to magic. Add that to the fact that they seem to frighten the Lolthite drow something terrible and you get a rather potent package." Turning back to face her, Val'atar smiles casually. "My pardon Matron, this is not why I have come. I am here regarding your alliance with Aleanrae and the unsuccessful attempt to seize my house and this city. You made the unfortunate mistake of backing a losing player and now you find yourself facing my wrath and the city's scorn. Had the coup worked, you would have been lauded as saviors, but it did not. What is your intention now that Aleanrae is gone? Arching a brow, he crosses his muscled arms over his chest, each hand casually resting under the other arm, near to his belt. His actions spoke of no aggression, but with his wand holders on each hip, it made things all the more tense, knowing his skills as an arcanist.

Most of the people in the room tensed. They're shoulders hard, they're eye fleeting. Nariel remained still her eyes fixed on Val'atar and then her own eyebrows rose up.
Gripping her elbows, she said, "I made an alliance with the attempt to gain your House's power? I am sorry to tell you this, but I was fair more interested in set my House in order. The alliance would provide arms, that at the time, I didn't not have. Sure I would have gained from the success, but all the same, since I was new to your city, I had no idea your House existed. I never sent a single troop towards your House or harmed your people. I focused on making sure that the movement of the Lolthites came to a stop. And that the huge gangs of peasants didn't steal everything from Merchants who were about to stop trade here altogether. The Alearnae Matron didn't want my troops for that, so I brought them back. We didn't leave in till we heard about Alearnae disappearance."
She set down the stairs towards him. A thoughtful sigh escaping her in till she reached the step just above the main floor.
"As for what I intend to do now. Well, whatever sent the Aleanrae away has my thanks for as they marched to your gates, I was planning to cut off the alliance. Now we will focusing on ourselves, forging, and magical studies. As you can see, we've already began. We're focusing on creating personal guards, magical shields, guards, tools, etc. This inward focus will help us in the long term and make it so that rushed alliances don't happen. In other words, Ilharn Val'atar Druu'giir, I intend to be here and should you need our services, though with your spiders it doesn't sound like, while you set the City in order. That is what my House intends to do."
Her exterior was calm and almost thoughtful, but inwardly she was spinning. Her Sight was acting up thanks all the magical power he gave off, and his stance wasn't helping. Hurray, so that my Visions come back to order.

Holding her gaze, Val'atar ponders the situation. He knew what was at state, he knew that she was keenly aware that he knew what had happened and yet she continued with this charade.. why? The answer he quickly surmised was because she had to. her house and everyone who depended on her needed it. Perhaps she was more than he had assumed, not just another drowess on the path to quick fame and personal power.
Nodding his head slowly, his stance relaxes, hands moving to lay atop his crossed arms. Tilting his head for a moment, he glances around in a discreet manner, seeing the other house members and servants tensed for what they no doubt thought would be a magical onslaught. Instead, he simply steps back and then bows.
"Given the nature of Aleanrae's treachery and that you admitted your part in the larger game, I choose to believe you Ilharess. I find your house free of any wrong upon my own. I welcome any alliance you would offer."
Looking into her eyes, he reaches out with his mind and gently caresses hers with his thoughts.{Do not think that I do not know the extent of your involvement Nariel, Vhaeraun himself banished Aleanrae from my city by way of my own hand. It was he who sent me back to this world.} Turning, he looks upon the assembled house and inclines his head briefly before spreading his arms in a gesture of welcoming and acceptance.
"My blessings upon this house and its endeavors, your Matron has done well and will see her family rise in in power within the city. I grant to you the rank of fourth house of Au Shinduago. Stay your path of faith in our Lord and defend our city with your every breath."
