By the time the Kira had prepared his shot, the Cerberus was ready, and fired it's own. Massive heat fought freezing water as they collided, and in the end, neither could prevail. As the attacks collided the fire melted the ice and evaporated the water, while the water and steam put out the flame. Instead of two separate attacks, there was now a single massive cloud of boiling steam flooding the sealed pit, with no sign of vanishing. The heat from the lava in the cave would keep it heated, while any moisture remaining of it would hang for quite some time. In the end, Kira had created his own hell, as the Cerberus was still unaffected by the heat. The steam made viewing conditions horrible, and would mess with any senses used to try and find the opponent in the cave. Now, this was up to who could find and destroy the enemy first, before the superheated steam killed the water based beings.
