Life's Story:
The Sukami clan was one of the most feared ninja clans in Getsugakure, their skill at genjutsu unmatched throughout the land. The head of the clan's son, Gendou, quickly rose to be the most powerful ninja in the clan. However, the clan head wasn't content in just being the most powerful clan in the village, he wanted the village itself. This all seemed to become possible when Gendou's true power had awakened.
There were legends that the Sukami clan's kekei genkai, the Tenraigan, had a more powerful form, one that could blur the lines between illusion and reality. This ability, the Tenteigan, was thought to be nothing more than a legend until Gendou developed it. The eye ability had a heafty price, every time it was activated cost the user a good amount of their remaining life, but the stories were true. Seeing Gendou as the chance to take not only Getsugakure, but all of the ninja villages, the clan lead began developing a way to use this ability to the clan's advantage.
Subjecting Gendou to painful tests, each of which severely shortened his life span, the clan succeeded in producing illusory demons using the Tenteigan. Many sacrifices were made and many forbidden techniques used, but these creatures were trapped in a semi-illusory state; able to effect the world, but unable to be effected by it. This meant the beasts could go into a village and destroy it completely without being able to be harmed themselves, making them invinsible. Gendou's Tenteigan was all that was needed to activate and control these beasts.
Gendou, however, was loyal to Getsugakure and refused to use his ability any more. They tried mental and physical tourture, but nothing could get him to comply. It seemed all was lost until another member of the clan discovered the secret to unlocking the Tenteigan. He showed gendou, telling him that he would take his place and become the clan's hero. Gendou, realizing that this ability could cause the destruction of Getsugakure and much more, decided that the clan had to die. That night, with the help of a few of his clan that he convinced the same, they launched an attack, slaughtering their own family members to save their village. Gendou, however, saw the ability as a blight on the whole world that needed to be eliminated, so he turned on those that had helped him, with a heavy heart killing those that didn't deserve to die, but he felt he had no choice other than to kill. Two were able to escape, bringing along with them Gendou's baby sister. They fled as far from Getsugakure as they could to escape Gendou's wrath.
When they headed towards Sunagakure, they found Gendou was still on their tail. They figured the only way to survive was to separate. They left the girl in Suna, hoping that somebody would find her and take care of her. The only thing they left with her was a paper with her name: Akeru.
Akeru grew up in suna never truly feeling like she fit in. She was never adopted by a family and basically grew up in the streets, teaching herself what it took to be a ninja. It didn't take long before she realized genjutsu just came to her easily, though with nobody to explain her eye ability to her properly, she never learned to make full use of it. Her harsh upbringing gave her a somewhat abrasive personality. While she does have a set of morals, altruistic tendencies, and a loyalty to her village, she is far from pleasant to be around. She is seen as an agitator and most people her age avoid her or actively confront her. She doesn't have any friends or family, and has a feeling that she doesn't belong.
Akeru was going about her regilar life when she found a scroll that had on it a clan symbol that she did not recognize. In reading the scroll, she learned of her clan and some of their abilities, but it did not tell of where the clan had been located, or what happened to it. Now Akeru found herself full of questions, one of them being who gave her the scroll in the first place.
ROLEPLAY SAMPLE
The Sukami clan. That was the name of the family Akeru belonged to. Sukami Akeru...She liked the sound of that. It beat being known as some b*****d orphan on the streets. Akeru had done well for herself, reaching the rank of genin without any help from anyone, save a few of the older ninja who took pity on her and taught her a thing or two.
Suna was her home, and she loved it, which was an odd thing for her to say to herself, since it never seemed to treat her well. She had no true family or place to stay. She was pretty sure she could drop dead right there and there wouldn't be anyone to mourn her loss. But Suna was all she knew, it was where she had her first memories. Maybe that was enough to make her care about it. But this scroll meant that somewhere out there were people that were just like her. It would be foolish to go and look for them, the world was too big for that, but she now had hope that she could find someone out there.
Akeru layed back on the ruined mattress in the half collapsed old house she called her home. The parts of the house that were still standing were quite sturdy, so it was a nice place for a temporarily undomiciled person like her. As she layed back, she looked up at the scroll, pondering something.
"How did this even get here? Does that mean...someone around here knows about my clan?"
It was creepy to think that someone had been watching her, but this also meant that maybe the answers weren't that far away from her. Akeru sat back up, reaching for the sandwich she had liberated from some fat academy student kid earlier in the day. She was a genin now, so she had to keep her energy up; keeping the academy students slim was just a bonus.
