The Green Tyrant felt a pang of pride at being called a very fine machine. If it would have, it would have shook his head out and nosed the woman to show its gratitude. But instead it let the long, sharp talons click at the earth as a soft hiss escaped him.

Talon on the other hand grinned from ear to ear and held the sketch he had done to the Liger at the impatient growl. Could a Zoid appreciate art or recognize pictures? He wasn't sure, but he figured they might as well be human, or at least some of them could pass as human... at least their AI's could. "Something about him demands that sketchy style. And thank you. I thank my lucky stars I have Tyrant...even if he is a pushover."

Talon looked wearily up at the great Liger Zoid. Oh well... I'm sure, he thought, Seraphim wasn't an art critic...

Angelina wasn't sure what the Raptor said but it didn't sound threatening it was quite soft so she smiled and guessed "You're welcome" Angelina continued to shade. Angelina grinned "The style does indeed fit Seraphim." Angelina agreed wholeheartedly. She was going to put it on her wall when she was done this one for Talon..

The liger gave a soft growl of approval, Marcia had shown the liger much of her art, and over time it had begun to recognize things.

"done," she said after the shading was finished, she held it up to Talon. "Hows that?" she asked.

Talon probably would have chimed in and barked at the Tyrant had it been rude. It was curious what the picture looked like. It had a fair idea what this 'art' thing was... It was broad and complicated but it dealt with scribbling on this thing called paper.

Talon was grinning at the Liger, assuming that that growl meant that it liked it. Wheew! That was a good thing indeed!

"Huh?" Talon blinked and then grinned, rather thrilled with the outcome of the portrate. "Fancy! Looks wicked awesome. Don't you think Tyrant? " The Raptor lowered its optics down so he could see the picture. The sentient light flashed in its 'eye' a pleased growl escaped as it stood back up, settling its shoulders to once again return to scanning the area.

Talon grinned and held out his small portrait of the Liger to Angelina. He had done it for her, after all. "Thanks for putting up with us. " He had this hunch that he probably should high tail it out of here... Talon had stayed far too long and it was getting close to when he should report back. Oh, he'd love to stay out more, but he had a checkpoint to make by sundown. Not that he would reveal that sort of information.

"Thank you both of you" She made sure to let Tyrant get a better look.
Angelina did the same delicately tearing the page from the sketchbook and handing it to Talon before taking the picture he offered her, she placed it carefully between the pages careful not to wrinkle it.

"It wasn't a problem at all since neither of you are a bother." Angelina looked over the horizon briefly thinking the same as Talon.

"We should get back to our routes then." she said with a smile. "It was nice meeting you both." she said indicating Tyrant as well. She waved and started back toward the liger quickly. she placed her pencil in the coils of her sketchbook and climbed up to Seraphim's cockpit.

Angelina waved once more before the light blue cockpit closed and Seraphim started away. It had been good meeting someone else out here.

"Lets get back to our job," she placed her sketchbook in the compartment she had specially for it.

Seraphim agreed with a farewell Roar to Tyrant and Talon.

Just as the 'goodbyes' were being said an old worn shield liger moved into the area. The coloration was standard for sheild ligers, blue with an orange cockpit. There were several white claw marking on the right shoulder of the ZOID, but no where else.

As it rounded the corner and came into sight of both of the Rev and the Wing Blade it froze.

"..." The pilot looked at the two ZOIDS. One was easily recognizable, the other was imperial. Odd sight indeed.

The old Liger roared softly to the other two ZOIDs. Its tone muffled and obviously warn. It was a casual 'hello'. As casual as a ZOID could get anyways.

A roar sounded from behind. And it wasn't Tyrant's hissing roar. Angelina halted Seraphim and turned around instantly on the defensive, were they caught? And which side did it come from?! Angelina moved back over to where Talon and Tyrant were.

Angelina got a good look at the liger "Who're you?' she asked over the com link slightly defensively. If it was a republican soldier she would be in trouble. More trouble than Talon would be at the moment. It looked like a standard liger from the army but it's crest wasn't there like hers hand and she was sure some where on Tyrant he had an imperial crest. It looked like a really old worn zoid.

It didn't look like it would attack at the moment anyway, and it seemed far to worn to do any real damage to the wing blade.

Seraphim gave it's own roar of greeting, softer than normal.

"Naturally. May we meet again under banners of true peace. " Talon called to her, taking the sketch page, throwing the picnic back in its place in the storage bin in the Raptor's leg, then hauling himself into the cockpit. He stowed the drawing next to the massive Users Manual he kept ( along with the lisence and registration for the Zoid in case he ever got pulled over--which would be rather rare as he was careful around cities and villages), then fired up the Tyrant and started on his way out of the little valley and back on his route.

That put him... well he didn't get far with a roar that was not familiar in any way caught his attention. Talon spun the Tyrant around, the Raptor returning the hello with a bellow of his own while the pilot inside hailed the unknown and rather battered old Liger cautiously.

"Hi there... I mean you no harm, state your name and business and I'll share the same. " Barganing...but then again he was sure that the Wing Liger and Angelina were doing the same thing.

Well, this totally sucked, thought Talon. No way would he take on an unknown Liger, even if it looked battered and sounded like it had seen better days. Tyrant clearly felt the same, since it swayed back and forth from foot to foot waiting for a reply on the comms.

The pilot shook his head. It was slightly a shame that the Imperial soldier gave more of a proper introduction than the Republic. He sighed. Dr. Fox told him to relax and coincidentally this was one of his favorite areas. The pilot opened com-links to both ZOIDs. It wouldn't do him any good to hide it. Dr. Fox had everyone convinced he was still at the lab. The wound to his chest was not as bad as it had seemed, and the doctor was a miracle worker when it came to surgery. However, he was still to take it easy.

"This is General Nicodemus Whitebane of the Republic." Nicodemus spoke boldly yet at the same time kindly. "My business is my own for the moment."

He looked over to the wing blade. That was his Cadet... Angelina Solaris of the Wing blade Liger. Also the one who caught the gunman. She was to be on a scouting mission. "Greetings Cadet Solaris." He added after a short pause.

The liger's tail calmly waggled behind it. It may be old, but it rarely got to get out and meet ZOIDs on duty. It purred to the two ZOIDs, giving complements to the two ZOIDs being so young and colorful.

Angelina went absolutely red with embarrassment she'd been caught... And by the General no less, she was never going to live that down. "Greetings Sir!" Angelina stiffened that was all she could manage to say. She didn't know where to start, how long had he been watching. She was completely ashamed.

Wait, wasn't the General still supposed to be with Dr. Fox? At least that's what the news paper had said and everyone else in the military.

Seraphim's Ai responded with a respectful growl of thanks. That Liger may be old, but it was still functional and Seraphim knew still had a strong heart.

Even after the silence over the com, she didn't know what to say. Um sssSir, how l long have you been there." She managed to studder. She was definitely going to get yelled at.

Talon was dumbfounded..... his Zoid reflected the slack jawed nature rather well actually. This was the legendary General Nicodemus!? Poor Talon had no response. The first thing in his mind was that he was in deep trouble if it leaked that he had been fraternizing with the enemy and then the General was on a stroll nearby. Oh yes.. there goes Tyrant. Woosh!

"Imperial Special Ops, Talon Beauregard." he said automatically into the comm. He had said he would share information of his name and alignment after all... " N-nice to see you up and around General, sir... "

The poor boy was utterly flustered and not sure if he should make a run for it or stay. He didn't know that the General was supposedly with Doc Cox now. For all he knew there were millions of other Zoids hiding in the desert around him ready to pounce on him. Talon slid down in his seat trying to hide from his mess. There was a murmbled " I am so going to get it..." a little low on the frequency, but Talon was a little far from the mic and was trying to figure how to get away without a scratch...

Tyrant on the other hand hissed a prideful thanks to the compliment... aware of his pilots unease, the raptor still shifted from foot to foot, talons digging into the sand for more stability.

Well this was getting awkward for everyone. Since the GF (Guardian Force) Treaty the Empire and Republic have been on friendly terms. Though opposite sides, they were still allies. Yet it was curious what his cadet and the Imperial special Ops. were doing.

"At ease Cadet." Honestly this amused the General slightly. It reminded him of his own days in training and at home. Trouble seemed to follow him and his brother everywhere they went. "Not long, I assure you." The com link would shut down momentarily as he sent a private message to the Wing Liger. "But you will be questioned about this later... I will send a message to your base of your change in orders. You will accompany me back to the lab." No need for this to get out until the details were straightened out. He paused. "When I return. Until than, your new task is to be my body guard." Nicodemus finished with an amused chuckle. He had finally gotten a break from the lab and all those damned tests. Last thing he wanted right now was to return to more tests. He trusted the Cadet not to do anything reckless. The link re-opened to the rev pilot. "Thank you. It is good to see the Empire out and about as well. Even when struck by such tragedy." The thought made him frown. "It would be best for everyone to be on our toes, something is not right about either attacks." Not Republic, not imperial, and not even a rogue. The attempted assassination came from someone classified as 'unknown'. Not a pleasant thought.

The old liger moved closer to the group, interested to hear some stories of missions these young pilots had been on. This old liger had seen the war between the Empire and the Republic. It had even been apart of the battle with the death saurer.

Even though he said at ease Angelina couldn't help but feel more tense than she had before, she was no doubt going to loose her liger for this. She didn't feel better at all. "Yes Sir" She replied quite stiffly, though her face was no longer as red as it had been. She was going to accompany him back to the lab?

No doubt he wanted to ask about what she and a special ops pilot were doing together. At least they hadn't done... well anything besides eat lunch, talk and exchange art.... Angelina's heart sank it was still considered fraternizing with the enemy. Even though they where technically at peace.

Angelina hadn't known what faction started the assassinations the media hadn't said anything, so she figured they where still investigating. Angelina gave a nod as the General mentioned they should be on their toes. Well if this was going to be her last mission in Seraphim she'd better to the best she can. She tried to cheer herself up and distract herself from the unfathomable thought of loosing her partner. "Yes Sir." she said trying to make herself sound like she felt better than she did.

Seraphim spoke mostly about the scouting missions they had been on, it was the one mission most requested of them. Seraphim also mentioned the parking lot outside the formal...

Talon sighed and realized it wasn't going to get better by wishing this situation away. He bucked up and sighed, accepting that this was a casual chat session. The fact that he hadn't been blown to bits right now was reassuring....Of course, he was waiting for some other Zoid Pilot to pop up out of the sand like a daisy and start talking about ...oh he didn't know, hydroponic gardening? Sure! That made as much sense and this lot did right now.

A hand moved up and rubbed Talon's face as he dwelled in momentary silence. He liked that silence. He could regain his composure...Then the comm flicked back on between the Veteran General and himself. The odd wish of condolences for the loss of their own General was welcomed by a nod, "Thank you, Sir. I will pass the good words on to my comrades and superiors. " Talon paused and thought for a moment. He hadn't made any connection between the attacks, but this was a General...surely he knew something more than lowly foot soldiers? Yeah...paperwork did that. God, Talon would just about kill for a desk job right now instead of this. ... Then again the topic was grim and it made him uncomfortable that he was out here patrolling when his Emperor was back at the Capital ( probably playing some chance game, no doubts.)

If he was this put off, he could only imagine how Angilina was feeling. This was her General after all. Running into him out here must have mortified her, Talon absently thought.

The Tyrant spoke mostly of scouting missions, of rock slides, destroyed sleepers, of caverns filled with old ruins...and paint bullet matches with rival Raptors. Though, it was quite interested in the stories the old Zoid had to tell and asked with a short bark of a roar.

It didn't take Nicodemus long to pick up on the pseudo calm tone of the cadet. He would have time to deal with the situation when they got back to the lab. It would not be appropriate to say anything else on the matter in front of a foreign soldier. Though he did have a good idea what might have been on Angelina's mind.

"Thank you again." The General replied.

Nicodemus didn't have too long of leisure time and did not wish to spend it in the cockpit of his ZOID, the Whitebane family heirloom, the old Shield Liger. White Ixion, the ZOID he was most known for piloting, was never far off, but he didn't wish to pilot it when not on duty. The liger needed his stretch time too... "Cadet Beauregard, you are at liberty to relax. I am not here on duty." He finally spoke. The tension was obvious in the two soldier's voices. "You as well Cadet Solairs. This meeting was sheer coincidence." He assured them over the com-Link. However his voice remained bold and as professional as before. Though he was not duty, he still had to keep up an appearance.

The old liger was quite envious of their travels. How recent they were. All his war stories were from long ago, even dating back to before they were 'born'. His greatest tale was that of the fight with the first war hundreds of years ago, when the mad thunder fought the first death saurer. The liger had been on the front lines and nearly died by the attack of the saurer. Oh, but he got his hits in, even if they did little damage. A terrible battle that was indeed.. That was how he got the scar on his shoulder. The humans painted it white to reserve it, it was like a medal to him. The DS himself caused the scars.
