It seemed the wolf was stoic at best which on one paw lent to Ovian a calm first impression but on the other paw a mysteriously blank face to put to that very level-headed personality. Merrill, never having prided herself on being good at reading into wolves, wasn't sure what to make of this. Merely bad at expressing himself or truly something to keep an eye on? Spirits, she didn't need to be watching yet another male for suspicious activity . . . "There is a small copse of human-cut stumps near the middle of our territory," Merrill answered after allowing the others to speak for her. "We usually place catches there to be eaten at the end of the day as a family. While normally hunts are done in small groups, the rule has never been to fend for oneself as far as eating; though mind you, a pecking order is a given if you have done no work to prove your meal's worth." Again with the mentioning of pulling one's own weight! As if it weren't clear enough.

"I am sure Ovian will prove to be an asset" Chiv assured Merrill with a slight chuckle - the wolf was certainly a calm and aloof creature but Chiv pegged him for a good hearted beast none the less. "But if that is all your questions - you are free to roam the pack lands at will, everyone here is approachable and should you have any concern's please do not hesitate to mention them" She voiced with a warm look on her face.
Derecho listened to Merrill a she spoke to Ovian, was she worried that the new wolf wouldn't help out? That wouldn't be as much of problem the pup thought to himself if the adult would just let him help out more - why he'd trailed his parents and others about the lands so much that he was sure he knew them just as well as any of the others and he liked to think he was a smart pup. He could see himself out of any situation.
"Merrill will get you in trouble if you don't help!" He told the new wolf with a serious look on his face - well not that he thought she actually would, Derecho couldn't actually recall Merrill beating up or yelling at any wolves in the pack, but he thought it was a good idea to make sure this new wolf knew Merrill was a strong beta anyways."And then you won't get any supper" He added forlornly, a consequence he clearly thought was quite terrible.
Ki-Adi had grown a bit more comfortable as the other's spoke - but the new wolf still made her nervous. He was just so...distant feeling. Perhaps he was a spy...perhaps he was just tricking his way into the pack so he could spirit her away to her old home, the one she'd run away from. But no...Chiv and the others wouldn't let that happen would they? They had promised they wouldn't and Ki-adi believed them, but accidents still happened.
Lullaby would probably tell her she was being overly paranoid again, that the pack was kind and good and here to help her. But the pale purple wolf wasn't here at the moment to whisper these thoughts into her ears and Ki-adi shifted nervously as she looked at the seemingly calm new male.

Aleu glanced about the faces of those gathered her. The new male looked pretty interesting, and she was sure she could make a song out of this one way or another. Perhaps something about his coat...or maybe sing the story of how he joined the pack. Either way she would work on it later when there weren't so many others around. It wasn't that Aleu didn't want the others to hear her working on the song, but thought it would be a nice surprise if she could sing it to the entire pack when they gathered for dinner. Yes that would be what she would do, her tail wagging happily at the though. The pack would love it, she just knew it.

Ovian could see their discomfort. He could hide his emotions, but these wolves, well no they weren't so good and he was quite good at reading people's minds through the way they stood and the way their eyes expressed themselves.
Nodding his head, he took in Chivosi's answer. Yes that seemed right. Suitable for one. The dark male looked at the stumps and back at the forest. Derecho was talking about Merrill's punishment and he stared back. There was to be no punishment for Ovian. In fact, he was just going to go out for a bit.
"I need some time," he said. And with that he began to step away from the group and towards the entrance/exit of the clearing back into the forest. His mind was beginning to swarm with names, rules and flashbacks. Ovian padded faster into a stalking pace, tracking for signs of prey. He would like to give the pack his first kill tonight, as to show he was worthy and committed to serving the pack. That was when he smelled a rabbit.

Merrll sighed as Derecho imposed a rather skewed threat about punishment towards the newcomer. "I don't babysit adults, Si-Son. Let the male have some room," she told him as Ovian broke from the group to do whatever it was he normally did; she noted the stalking stance he began to take as he went away. Already hunting? Well, apparantly he was in good shape despite previous wanderings. "Taking his example to heart, let's get to work. Ki, would you like to accompany on a border a patrol? I was going to bring the pups along to let them see how it is done, and a second pair of eyes might be needed." That, and she didn't know the colorful femme well. She was shy, yes, but shyness had no excuse for not knowing her fellow packmates. The best way to integrate others, Merrill believed, was to place them with jobs that needed more than one wolf to accomplish. Besides, it seemed that Ki-Adi needed a friend.

Chivosi watched as Ovian made his escape, she wasn't going to blame him for needed a bit of time to take everything in. Her pack was large, somewhat rambunctious at times and she could see how they might be a tad overwhelming to a newcomers. The male would be fine once he settled in and got to know everyone Chiv told herself, before turning her attention back to Merrill.
"And excellent idea...if you have Derecho and Aleu I think I shall go in search of Mene and the other two Merrill" Chiv told the beta brightly, She didn't get near as much time to spend with Mene as she would like and with a grateful look she padded off in search of the grey male.
Derecho was about to voice his opinion that it certainly wasn't fair that pups got punished for not doing what they were supposed too hen adult's didn't, but this thought was waylaid by Merrill's suggestion that he and Aleu go with her on patrol. How exciting! He practically yipping in joy hen his mother agreed and left him and Aleu in the care of Merrill and Ki-Adi. Bouncing over to his sister he play growled at her and tried to roll her over in a mock fight. "This is going to be so much fun!" He whispered to her.
Ki-Adi watched as the male walked off, she wondered briefly if he was going off to tell her former pack here to find her - but no that was silly, look at his stance...he was obviously going off to hunt she told herself soothingly, her attention was jerked back to the other as she heard Merrills suggestion. "yes..yes of course I'll come along" The brightly colored wolf agreed with a fleeting half smile. She was sure by now that the purple beta was safe to be around, she had been in the pack long before Ki arrived after all and so couldn't be a spy.
"Moon knows you might need some help" She continued as she watched Derecho pounce at his sister.

Aleu's ears perked up at the mention of going on a patrol again. She loved going on patrols whether it was with her mother, Aunt Meme of any of the other wolves in the pack. It satisfied her need to look for new material for songs while staying with an adult to make sure she was safe doing so. She watched Ovian and then her mother leave, leaving only four still gathered here, the four that would go on patrol together.
Aleu got to her feet and returned a growl to Derecho. Allowing him to roll her over she giggled a bit when he whispered to her. "Yes it will be." She whispered back but then gave him a bit of a stern look. "You better not do anything to ruin it either."
