I thought Twilight was okay. I didn't love the series, nor did I hate it (I take that back, I hated the last book). The writing was amateur-ish and the characters were seriously lacking.

I did however like her werewolves. I thought her werewolves were 100x better than her vampires.

The sparkling vampire thing was a bit.. different. I'm not sure whether to like it because it's different from what usually happens to vampires in the sun, or to hate it exactly for that reason.

Overall, not impressed.

Well, as a vampire lover, like a wine taster I must toss my 2 cents in. So, here we go.

1. Bella is...annoying. She's like a mini Anita Blake...just so full of herself. And SOMEHOW every guy in the ENTIRE school loves her.

2. Um...I'd have issues with my CRUSH watching me sleep. That's....creepy.

3. VAMPIRES DO. NOT. SPARKLE!!!!

Everyone...they made a Twilight EFFING MAKEUP LINE.

MAKEUP.

I apologize ahead of time if I get a little too serious- I've almost earned my degree in literature and I just LOVE to talk about books.

The problems I have with Twilight are basically this:
-It promotes unrealistic and horribly stereotyped expectations and standards. Men have to be beautiful or they're creepy nerds, and the women have to give into the every whim of those beautiful men and be good domestics.

-Edward is an abusive stalker, end of story. He unknowingly sneaks into a girl's room to watch her while she sleeps. This is apparently excusable because he's attractive? That's the reason Bella gives. And when he rips parts out of her car so she can't see her friend? I don't care if he loves her and Jacob is a werewolf. Had Jacob ever hurt her before (minus the kiss which may have happened before this point, can't remeber)? No. Edward is plain jealous and he uses his strength against her to force her to comply to ease his ego. Abuse.

-It's poorly written. I found sentences that couldn't keep a tense or were otherwise incorrect. No one's perfect, but it wasn't hard or rare to find a mistake. Not only that, I found it to be Stephenie Meyers' personal fantasy about a boy who sparkles and thinks she poops rainbows than a book. She wanted to make a buck on her wet dreams so she called him a vampire to be edgy.

-Bella is a brainless, characterless mary-sue. Anyone who doesn't like Bella is dismissed by everyone as just being a meanie because Bella is one special snowflake. When she's turned into a vampire she miraculously has the power to control any and all vampire urges even better than Carlisle who has been around since the middle ages.

I could go on forever- Twilight is a big topic in my seminar courses lately because it is so popular. I don't judge the fans, to each their own and I'm glad you found a book you like in a time when not a lot of people read, but after forcing myself through all of the books it's my opinion that it's just not any good.

Exactly

SPOLIER ALERT FOR ANYONE WHO HASNT FINISHED THE SERIES AND CARES:
I also love how Bella's only reason to stay human is because she's worried sex won't be the same after she's been turned. "Oh dear, I might lose my soul, but that's not really important...sex not being the same, however - I better stick around for that!"
And it's like she has no identity outside of him. All she does is talk about how perfectly amazing his physical beauty is and how she isn't worthy of him.
What excellent messages to send young girls.

Ew Twilight. I bash on it all the time. >>

Anyway..
I used to love it. I read the book, saw the movie woo. Then, it became popular. I love being the first to know everything, and not have to go popular. But that failed. At first I was like, whatever. But now its all I hear!!! D:< I can't take one step in school, without someone saying something bout it. Its become to popular. But, the books and posters are good for a good old fire ^^

Burning any book of any kind is utterly repulsive. I can't believe some of you are actually that ignorant and disrespectful to literature that you would destroy one you are not a fan of to fit in or be cool. You are not, at least not to me.

Yes I do like the book, no it does not deserve any of the hype it has gotten, yes it is fun to make fun of it. More than anything I hate how everyone is screaming about how much they wish people would stop talking about it, there by talking about it.

Just so you know it was cool to like it, now it's cool to bash it. You are both the same in my eyes. ^_^

I would also like to note that this is not directed at those of you that honestly do not like the book. It's those of you that have never read it and will not shut up about it or those that stopped liking it because it got popular that I am addressing.

I have to deal with my friends spazzing about it, and when I say I don't like it, I get the 'Well, you just need to read the book!'

My friend checked out the books, I read over his shoulder. We spent the entire year making fun of it. I have not read all the books. I just know exactly what happens because I've read snippets and my friends had to explain stuff.

"So..why are people after Bunny Swan?"
"Bella. It's because her blood smells so good.
"..What? Excuse me?"

If you can get a guy after you AND some hardcore fighting action by smelling good..

I only stopped liking it because to me it wasn't that good of a book and everyone went crazy about it. I've read all four books. No I wouldn't want to burn the book cause that's kind of stupid.(No offense to someone who wants to burn the book)

I don't really hate Twilight. It's an OK book and an easy read when you're bored and stuff, though the characters can be very irritating. Otherwise, what popped into my head is that their love is an immature love. Edward is attracted to her because of her scent and Isabella with his looks. Or at least the way it starts and I do agree that it is kind of creepy how he's a bit stalker-ish.

I hate Twilight and its brought-on vampire craze. Its just utter bull I think. I hope no other movies are made.
I went to see the first one and I hated it. And guess what a friend got e for Christmas... That's right, the Twilight dvd. God, I was so pissed off with Twilight and the vampire craze!
I can't believe that there are good-sized wars about "Team Edward" and "Team Jacob". That's just pathetic, really.

I like Twilight. I'm not a crazed fangirl in love with some fictional character, but I like the idea of it. It's a great page turner. It could, I admit, have been written better, but I still like it.
And, FYI, the haters are just as bad as the fangirls. talk2hand

I hated Twilight from the beginning. But then when the Twilight books came out, and it reached my tiny school, I was on the edge of insanity. All the girls talked about was Twilight. In fact, Twilight was the first recreational reading that some of them had done in their entire life!!! And when they came out with the movie, it got even worse. Thankfully, I left the school later that year, and now am in a bit better of a school. The girls there have all read the books and seen the movies, but they aren't totally obsessed fangirls like my last school was. I thank god have neither read the books or seen the movies. I have made a vow never to do either in my lifetime. I also gag and/or hiss whenever I come too close to one of the books or anything Twilight related.

My friend and I agree that the core and initial idea, that a girl moves to a new town, and falls in love with a seemingly normal vampire, and ends up going on an adventure was okay, but Stephanie Meyers was too much of a novice writer to tell the story correctly. If it had been put in more seasoned hands, then it might have turned out okay.

I also have to say, I am a friggen fangirl of Artemis Fowl. That button is so AWESOME!!!!! xp Call me insane, but Eoin Colfer has to be one of my favorite writers, and Artemis is my all-time fiction dream-guy.

Things that no one seems to hear
If you can smile, up above
I hope you look down tomorrow, while I'm awake
To see all the times I laugh, and all the times I frown
Notice then that, just like you, nothing keeps me down
Oh God....

Alright, first off, when I say I dislike the Twilight series, I know what I'm talking about. Just to prove a point (and win twenty bucks) I read all four books cover to cover and watched the movie with and without commentary (the commentary was hilarious).

Stephenie Meyer's profession was not writing. She had a dream and wrote it down, creating a plot out of it. It sucks. She's an amateur.

If she'd left it with one book, I might not be so upset. But no, she made three whole other books off a barely there plot line.

Her characters are "perfect." That's a no-no. There is no reason for a story to continue if you have perfect characters, because they just can't do anything! I liked Jacob for a while because he acted like a normal, flawed, being, but then he became a Marty-Stu and I wanted to strangle Meyer.

The plot line I could understand...until Edward became a vampire. That was an absolutely unnecessary twist, and I think it disintegrated what could have possibly been an averagely okay novel. Nope. Now it just sucks. And, really, what's the likelihood of Bella being like that? She makes it clear at first that she isn't attracted to, nor found attractive by the male persuasion, and yet half the school supposedly fell in love with her, and she fell in love way too quickly with Edward.

Crush. Friends. Like. Then love. You do not find your soul mate on your first day of school. And then the whole werewolf thing, oh God. Don't even get me started on the whole werewolf thing. Why? Why did she do that? It's too convenient! I mean, yes, writers must bend their stories to fit what they need to happen, but you can't bend it all the way! Let the characters write the story, and you don't get packs of werewolves, believe me, I know.

I liked the Romanian vampires in the last book. Why? They were creepier than the Volturi and didn't fit with Meyer's perfect world. I mean, the whole fourth book, just, wow. It was more like a bad sci-fi show, just like Jacob compared the situation to in the book itself! And Jacob imprinting on Renesmee? Too perfect there. The whole last book was pushing the limit way too far. Bella shouldn't have become a vampire, ever, and they went to all the trouble of preparing to fight the Volturi, they should've fought the damn Volturi!

I'm sick of Twilight mania. If I have to see another New Moon commercial on TV I will throw the remote at the wall and regret it because I can't change the channel!

The bolded stuff I somewhat agree with. It makes me so mad that Edward is such a b*****d and won't let Bella see Jacob. It also pissed me off when in the movie New Moon at the end Bella was all like, "I love you Jacob but if I had to choose inbetween you and Edward I would choose Edward"
Translation: "I love you Jacob but really I don't love you and I use you"
And Bella is just so STUPID! I always hated Bella and most of the time I hate Edward. But I don't really mind the fact that they sparkle. It doesn't really bother me

i think the books are pretty good, the first one at least, but the movies just suck. robert pattinson is stupid and it takes FOREVER for him and kristen stewart to spit out a sentence. "edward [pause] i [pause] love you" [pause] "bella [pause] i [pause] love [pause] you [pause] too" i mean seriously? edward is a fricken stalker too "oh ive been watching you sleep for the past month..." id fricken freak out and kick him in the d**k for doing that its SCARY. WHAT THE HELL.
