I'm the only one who reads Harry Potter in my family. Well, my sister does, too. But my whole family watches the movies.

I'm always trying to convince my 9 year old brother to read the books. But he doesn't want to. He says, "They're too long, and they look to hard to read for me!" I myself started reading them in the 2nd grade. Hard-headed brother. xD
But at least my mom loves the books with me! =D

I locked my sisters boyfriend in her room with the first Harry Potter book. I told him to read the first chapter and that I'd be quizing him to make sure he read it. IT TOOK HIM A LITTLE OVER AN HOUR.
I'm the only one in my family who reads. So I hate that I have nobody to talk to about theory. =[

Yeah, learning disabilities suck. For me, it never really interfered with reading, cuz that's always been my passion. Anyways, power to the LDers...wootwoot.

GleeptheDragon i really hate it when people can't sit through the books and think it's just the same if they go to the movies... mad Ya, my cousins, they just watch the movies then they come to me complaining that they have no idea what the movie was about. I have to spend about an hour explaining it to them. For OOTP I just told them to read the books.

Hm... I read the first and second ones in fourth grade... i was... *thinks back* lemme see, I'm about to be 16, and I'm a junior now... so... that would make me... 9?? I'm not sure, math was never my strong suit. But that was when they really started gettin popular in my school, and at frist I was like 'oh as if it's just another fad....' (I have always been very anti-fad), but then my teacher started reading SS outloud, and I liked it, but she was going s o s l o w... so I got it from the library...and read it in about one day... and then i actually finished chamber of secrets before she finished reading SS to class.

I wish they read Harry Potter in my school. When HP became a fad, I was in a Catholic School at the time. So I was in 6th grade and I had this teacher named Mrs. Holder and she said "HP are devilworks!" and she went on a whole campaign in the school and made all the teachers and even convinced my mom that HP was the devil and would make me practice satan's spells. So during my whole time at Catholic school until my 8th grade I couldn't read HP. So, I did what every rebelling child would do, I read HP in secret under my sheets at night xp I laugh at the whole experience now but yeah.

I went to a public school, and it hadn't sunk in in my neighborhood what these books were about yet... course my mom loves that kind of stuff as much as i do, so she didn't protest
