Spill: yes, that is exactly what she knew. It almost seemed to be an innate thing for her, though actually pouring the tea into a cup was a far more foreign concept apparently. However, this time she managed to avoid the pot and knock over an already filled cup of tea. The gradually cooling liquid was now on the table and dripping onto the floor instead of being safely contained in its “ready to drink” container. Not only did this mean that she had another mess to clean up, but she would also have to pour another cup of tea. Yeah, this was lame, but she had to finish this for Madam Nara. After all, she had opened her home to Tenma and, so far, hadn’t asked for anything but a seemingly simple chore in return. Yes, she would have to finish this task without any assistance. As her rag continued to grow with the ever filling liquid, Tenma could hear an increase of chatter and clatter in the room over. Apparently, dinner would soon be prepared and the girl began to grow a touch anxious with the extra noise. Mopping up the liquid, Tenma quickly used her free hand to slap herself in the back of the head and, though it had caused her to wince slightly, she hoped it would help her focus because that was the way her grandfather usually brought her back to the real world. Ah yes, the loving violence involved with the daily lessons had become so familiar so, perhaps, that was what Tenma needed – a good slap in the back of the head to get her mind fixated on what she was doing. Even with her most recent mess cleaned up something must have looked out of place in Tenma’s subconscious because, after she was done cleaning her last mess, the child managed to catch her sleeve on the edge of the neighboring cup. This, of course, caused the contained liquid to slosh over the lip and back onto the table. Then again, it wasn’t necessarily “back” on the table since this was, previously, an untouched puddle of tea. At least when she made a mistake this time she actually learned from it: leave the sweatshirt on the bed! Finally, something useful she could take from her mistake. However, another mistake meant another spill to clean up, which meant another chance to tip over a cup or something in the process. Kira walked through the housing district as the sun was setting quickly. He was heading towards his grandmother's house, which he still occupied despite her death, and she hadn't needed to worry about any form of mortgage on it at all, at least to Kira's knowledge. He walked up the steps to the front door of his grandmother's house and unlocked it with the key he always carried, went inside and locked it after him. He was tired, as he set his backpack down and went into the kitchen, making himself something to eat, to silence his hunger pangs. As he finished making the meal, he sat down to eat after turning on the lights. He finished eating soon after sitting down, and then turned off all the downstairs lights and went upstairs, turning on the light of his bedroom and the bathroom connected to his bedroom. He got undressed and took a nice hot shower. After that, he changed into his pyjamas, which was a soft long-legged and long-sleeved shirt with wolf-like and dolphin-like patterns. He then crawled into his bed, hugging tight the dolphin plushie his grandmother had given him. He then, after turning the lights off, went to bed, hugging the dolphin plushie the whole time, and it felt like it kept him safe.

Before commencing with wiping up the most recent spill Tenma set everything down and tugged her sweatshirt over her head, fastening it to her waist along with the apron that held fast there. With her far better fitting t-shirt exposed hopefully there would be less fabric to catch on to, thus making her work a touch more efficient. Then again, now that the fabric was in a bit of an uncontrollable place she might not be able to prevent such things from happening. Only attempting to continue on with her job would let her know but, before she could move on to filling more cups of tea, she had a spill to clean up. Retrieving the rag from under the dangling, knotted arms of her sweatshirt, Tenma quickly lifted the cup to clean underneath it where the tea had begun to pool. With the table officially cleaned she mopped up the liquid on the sides of the container and returned it to its rightful spot. It seemed that, with the comparatively minimal amount of fabric to get in the way, Tenma could be quite successful at avoiding disaster in the dining room. With yet another cup filled with “not quite as hot as before” tea, the girl could see an end in sight. Smells were increasing at a decreasing rate as all of the food in the neighboring room began to come to a finish, but the level of chatter remained quite the same. It was an odd symphony that attacked one by multiple senses. Food wasn’t as fragrant back at home and the grandparents were never as loud as these women – unless grandfather was especially displeased with something or another. Hot tea, energetic company, it would be interesting having dinner with this group; at the least it would be a learning experience. While paying attention to the noise in the other room, her anxiety level, though not at all above normal, rose ever so slightly; this caused her attention to waver enough that she bumped into a cup and knocked it over. Lucky for her that this particular cup was empty and, thusly, there was no liquid mess to clean up. However, there was a slight clatter this time, but Tenma was fairly certain that it wouldn’t be heard over the ruckus in the adjacent room. Thank the spirits that this wasn’t the pot or another filled cup that tipped over, the girl, quite possibly, might have lost it due to frustration. Before even attempting a clean up Tenma began chanting an odd little mantra: training, training, training. Anything that wasn’t worth her training time wouldn’t be worth her patience and this was quite worth it. Yes, this was training and that is how she would treat it. No longer would she permit herself to become frustrated with her failures. She would learn from them and eventually conquer that task before her! Unfortunately, there was an overly enthusiastic pep talk going on inside Tenma’s head as she hit an odd moment of inspiration derived from nothingness. It was a sad, sad moment when the girl finally realized what had just transpired and, like before, she swiftly struck the back of her head with an opened palm. Back to work it was: setting the cup upright in its position Tenma was official done with her clean up for that little mishap. Now she would just have to attempt keeping the cup in its proper position while she finished filling them with tea. The seemingly simplistic task of pouring tea into an already placed cup, just sitting there and waiting to be filled, suddenly became simplistic. With an oddly skilled motion Tenma managed to fill almost all of the cups on the table, with the exception of one, with a quick and fluid motion. She didn’t know where that came from but she also wasn’t going to go digging for it in fear that whatever “it” was would disappear. It was a comforting sight, the steady plumes of steam gently slithering up from the warm liquid. Soon enough, as long as she didn’t mess up horrendously, her task would be finished and she will have completed the task the Madam Nara had set her to. Oh what a spectacular feeling that would be after having messed up so many times in such a short span of time. And as she imagined that spectacular feeling Tenma managed to mess up again. As if her hand was an entity of its own she knocked over the only empty cup left on the table. Now, with her new positive outlook on her chore, it could be considered a good thing that, if she was to knock over any cup at all, it would be that one. After all, because she knocked over the only empty cup there was no real mess to clean up, she would simply have to replace it where it belonged instead of…where did it go? Tenma could have sworn that just a second ago it had been resting on its side where she had knocked it over, but no. As far as the child could see, after taking a quick visual check of the room, the cup was most definitely not in her line of sight. Frustrated? No, she would simply turn the situation into a remedial scavenger hunt: remedial since there weren’t many places a cup could hide. With no cup in sight Tenma began to ponder where in the world it could have gone. There was only one missing and there weren’t many places it could have gone. No, she hadn’t hit it hard enough to send it flying into the defenseless wall and she didn’t think she had struck it hard enough to push it off the edge of the table. Then again, she wouldn’t need to knock it off the table, just tip it with enough force to roll it off. It that was the case then it was quite possible that the cup had only managed to roll under the table or onto the floor. Kneeling quickly, the child began to scan under the furniture and was relatively surprised when she spotted the cup under the opposite side of the table. Maybe there was a slant to the floor, or she hit it harder than she first thought. Either way the child retrieved the cup and replaced it. Now where did the teapot go?! First the cup goes missing and then the teapot goes missing?! This was messed up and Tenma didn’t like it. Knowing her luck it was probably one of the Naras playing a joke on her. Then again, she hadn’t seen any of them come in and the noise level in the room over hadn’t changed noticeably. There were definite doubts that this was Rhiam’s doing because he was, theoretically, preparing for the next day. Could it be the father? But by what she had been told, he wasn’t a very active person. Perhaps even relatively inactive people desired a source of entertainment and she happened to be in the right place at the wrong time. No, she shouldn’t accuse him of anything; especially since she had never met him before. It was a ridiculous situation but she had to focus on finding the pot, without it she would never finish the chore. Just like with the cup there was nothing to be seen of the teapot; which, again, meant that it was nowhere in Tenma’s immediate viewing range. Though as frustrating as it was, the child once again knelt to view beneath the furniture and, sure enough, there was the pot – hiding where its friend the cup had once been. Perhaps Tenma hadn’t placed the teapot on the table when she went to retrieve the cup and it had instead ended up under the table as a sort of replacement. With a slight hint of embarrassment towards herself, thankfully no one was around to witness such a thing, the girl finally surfaced with her pot in hand so that she could finally finish her task. That is, as long as nothing else went awry… Setting the tea DC: 12 Rewards: +Dexterity, even more love from the Nara women Train: 10/11 Other: If you fail setting/pouring the tea you must make one post to clean the spill before making another attempt.

With the final cup in place and the pot of tea in hand, Tenma was finally able to fill the last cup with tea. True, this had been at the price of various spills, scattered cups, missing containers, and even the life of a poor wayward fly, but the chore was finally complete and, by the sound of things in the kitchen, just in time too. Placing the almost empty teapot back onto the tray the child carried it into the next room, leaving the steam billowing cups of liquid to sit in wait, in order to see if there was anything else she could help with. After setting the rag in a pile of evidently soiled rags Tenma went in search of Madam Nara and, luckily, found her amongst the swarming hive of energy. “Madam Nara, all the tea is poured. Is there anything else I can assist with?” Her voice held a slight note of cheer as she stood there holding the practically empty tray. Just as Tenma completed the task of setting and filling the cups of tea, the door to the kitchen swung wide open. The throng of Nara females marched through with various multiple pots, pans, bowls, plates and jugs. Without warning or slowing the tempo of their excited chatter they began to set the food items on the table. In the time that it had taken the new girl to set and pour a single cup of tea the entire table was ready and all of the women were seated and serving themselves. Rhaim and his father slipped slowly in from some dark cavernous recess in the house towards the spread of food. As had been explained earlier the main dishes were in fact very heavily prawn based, though several other soups, salads, vegetables and fruits accompanied them.
The mother smiled cheerfully at Tenma, "I suggest getting food on your plate quickly. The rule is if it's not on your plate it's fair game. And if it's not in your mouth it's still fair game. Rhaim and my husband may not be good for much but they can definately eat."
"Hey Tenma how old are you?"
"What's a Fujiko? I never heard of them."
"Pass the potatoes cutie!"
"Where'd my fork go?"
"Did you and Rhaim ever spar? Did you stomp him!?"
"We should go shopping tomorrow to get you some new clothes to impress the boys on your team."
"Rhaim give me back my fork!"
"Where's your headband?"
"Do you like the food Tenma?"
"Can I call you Tennie?"
"If you don't give that fork back I'll pound you into next week!"
"Look what I can do!"
"How was your day at the Hokage's dear?"
"Wanna train after dinner?"
"That's it! I warned you!"
The swarm of conversation moved much too fast for any one person to stayed focused on anyone else for longer than a second. The scene was complete culinary chaos and it seemed that the entire family, including Rhaim, was rather comfortable and happy with it.
