They do say that a child is born to become avatar from a nation, but never said that the baby's parents had to be powerful. The avatar is the reincarnation of the spirit of the world. So it would be impossible for Aang and Katara to give birth to the next avatar. Also, the next Avatar would be Water. Air Water Earth Fire This is the sequence in which the Avatar travels.

zuko and mai
toff and .... well anyone they all look the same to her
tai lee and some guy she met in prison
Jet and.... oh yeah they killed him off at the end of book 2

jr2054life Yea... but In every episode I have seen; No avatar in the past had a kid. Avatar Roku had a wife but that's all. If they make another series of Avatar the last Airbender series I guarantee that they are going to be boyfriend and girlfriend! true that arent each avatar rencarnated into another form like the next avatar will be originally a watar if u notice it goes it the order water earth fire air but i do agree aang and katara should have a baby but if not them katara and zuko cuz then thier baby will be evil yet powerful so it will so totally ROCK

I know what episode your talking about. I have them all on DVD. I'm just saying that If his chakra's are locked it dosn't mean that he couldn't have a kid. Anyways In chapter 3 episode 6 Aang and Zuko are taken on parallel adventures that give them insight into their ancestors’ pasts. They learn that Avatar Roku and Fire Lord Sozin were best friends as children, but as they grew older, their opinions began to differ. If you watch that episode roku did have a kid because him and sozin were the great grandfathers of zuko!
