"As if things weren't already complicated..." "Finally..." The word was little more than a sigh of relief, almost swallowed entirely by the unending sounds of the waves rolling into shore. Not far from where the water dampened the sands, a figure stood, staring at the shining walls of a rather...conspicuous building. This made her next words even stranger than they might have already sounded, considering that she seemed to be alone on that stretch of beach. "I thought I'd never find it! For the first time in days, Miyumi felt her spirits lift...and then frowned gently as she felt her tail perk up, too. I'll never get used to this whole...cat...thing. Ugh, I don't even know what to call it anymore! Her sigh was heavier that time, weighed down by the memory of the past several weeks. Between how the war had ended and what had happened to her, it had been a fairly tiring time. But at least she had finally found the new headquarters. Wow...how in the world did they build all this? It's wonderful! She stood there for a time, simply admiring the architecture and the way the white-walled building shone in the sun. Unfortunately, she forgot that the ocean was so close by. What sounded like the yowling of a large cat rang out a second later as something cold and wet closed around her paws. "Yeow!" The ocean's kindly reminder of where she stood had left her fur full of salt water; fortunately, her startled scramble forward spared most of her clothing from the soaking. Not that it mattered much; a close look would have shown that her hair and even her ears dripped water, signaling that she had gotten a sizable drenching not too long ago. "Whew, that was close...two accidental baths in one day is too many." She briefly hopped on one foot, then the other, shaking off as much of the dampness as she could before continuing on. Even so, there was a clear trail of over-sized feline footprints left on the sand by the time she got to the building's main entrance. Or at least she hoped that's what it was... The door swung open smoothly as she stepped inside. Immediately, she found that the interior more than matched the outside, the aquatic tones and gilded accents a reassuring sight. What other organization would have a temple in these colors? This has to be the right place...but... She hesitated in the entrance, looking around in a blend of curiosity and hesitation. But now that I'm here...what do I do now? Is anyone even here? Maybe I should have gone to that area where the tents were instead... She stood there a while longer, caught in a burst of indecision, not sure what kind of reactions she might get on encountering anyone, or even what to say once she did. Then she shook her head sharply, not noticing that this sprayed a fine mist of water on everything nearby. Oh, I'm just being stupid! I came here to help; if I can't think of anything else, I can at least ask somebody about that. With that in mind, she padded softly down the first hall she saw, peeking into every open doorway she passed in search of whoever might be present. "Umm...hello? Is anyone home?""But that's okay. I'll still do my best!" ((OOC: Yikes, long post! Didn't mean to do so much, heh. ^^; ))

Harata walked into the entrance of the temple. She would not go any further unless invited. It was not her temple, her religion, yet she had been chased here by though who she worshipped with. All because she believed in unity. For without unity, there was no chaos. (((('ho crap, that was badly written. Sorry.)))

((Thanks, Lorika! :3 And what's this about people gettin' it on? *goes to watch from the shadows investigate for completely innocent purposes, of course* ninja )) "As if things weren't already complicated..." "Hmm?" Miyumi paused in her searching, ears twitching at a faint noise. It seemed to be coming from up ahead...was someone walking around? Curious, she trotted down the hall, inadvertently leaving a small trail of water droplets on the floor as she went. One wrong turn and several minutes later, she came around a corner to realize there was a figure standing by a door. As it was larger than the one she came through, with a more substantial foyer that led into one of several hallways, she guessed that it had to be the real entrance. Perhaps it wasn't, but it certainly appeared more like what she would have expected from a temple's front door. Wait...where did I come in at, then? I guess there must be several ways in and out...She brushed those thoughts aside as she neared the unfamiliar figure. "Hello," she spoke up quietly, not sure if the girl at the entrance had noticed her or not. The fact that she remained in the area long enough for the rather lost feline to cross paths with her, though, made Miyumi wonder why she was there. "Umm...were you looking for someone?" Those words came out of her mouth before she really decided what it was that she planned to say, leaving her looking a bit surprised at herself. Dummy! Why'd I just ask that? It's not like I know who's supposed to be here; she might live here, for all that I know! Though inwardly kicking herself, she smiled a bit shyly towards the stranger, trying to be welcoming. Maybe they could help each other out, somehow. "But that's okay. I'll still do my best!"

"Yes. Someone to talk to." Harata smiled warmly at the feline, sensing her discomfort. "I'm Harata, and you are?"

"As if things weren't already complicated..." Both ears perked up with interest as she heard the girl's reply, followed by a burst of relief. 'Someone to talk to' was certainly a position she could fill! Glad for the friendly reply, she smiled at Harata in return. "It's nice to meet you. I'm Miyumi." As she spoke, she extended one hand...only to belatedly remember that it was a paw. W-well...it's still sort of a hand shake, isn't it? Hoping to hide whatever weird expression might have crossed her face on making that realization, she added, "I was actually looking for someone to talk to, too, so I'm glad I ran into you! I don't really know my way around here yet, and it was starting to feel like one empty hall after the next..." Her tone was much lighter than it had been at first. Though she still seemed a little hesitant, at least she knew that she wasn't the only one in the area. Plus, here was one person that didn't seem to mind her odd appearance. That was reassuring in itself. "But that's okay. I'll still do my best!"

Harata shook the paw with out hesitation. "I'm new too. Actually, I have yet to enter. I'm a SINner, you see. I was kicked off the main land because I believe in unity and chaos. Does that make any sense?"

"As if things weren't already complicated..." If Miyumi had possessed proper eyebrows, they would have raised at Harata's explanation. The last thing she would have expected is for a member of the opposite side to be the first person she met here. But she didn't see any reason to jump to conclusions or treat the other girl differently from anyone else. When it came down to it, they were both Gaians, weren't they? And what she had to say was interesting. "Unity and chaos? Hmm..." Her nose wrinkled for a moment, but the tilt of her head suggested thoughtfulness and not dislike. "I think I understand. Chaos doesn't exist unless there's Order to contrast it to, right? So, if you have too much of either, they lose their meaning. Rather like heat and cold...it's the balance between them that makes life possible." She paused then and lightly scratched behind one ear, more in slight embarrassment than anything else. Maybe she was the one that really wasn't making sense! "Well...that may not be right at all, but that's the way it sounds to me! It seems strange that you would get kicked out just for that. People shouldn't be so unreasonable...""But that's okay. I'll still do my best!"

"Yeah," said Harata, smiling sadly, " I guess things got a little crazy. Do you realize they are actually sacrificing people now? Like, so they will never come back. And yes, you do make sense. That was what I was talking about. And there is definitely too much chaos over there at the moment." She smiled again, a bit embarrassed, and tucked her short, mint green hair behind her ear. "So, what's your story?"

"C-cold ..."
Not far from shore, a lone white-haired figure clothed in a familiar white, teal and blue sloshed through the water towards the isle of Gambino, stumbling and having a hard time at making any progress at all. His back slouched, arms hanging low at his sides, he defiantly plowed onwards. The ocean's waves, without a hint of mercy, slapped against his legs and dragged against his long soggy and heavy robes, threatening any minute to pull him underwater.
He lurched towards the sandy island shore with single-mindedness of someone bone-tired and half asleep. At long last, he reached solid land. Soaked from head to toe, the brisk winter wind made his teeth chatter, and despite the hardships, he made a strong front, standing straight and proud with a dour frown on his face. The man looked towards the swaying wall of green vegetation and palm trees waving to-and-fro, making him dizzy. Far to his right, there was more sand and more beach. To his left, still sand and beach.
The wind whistled, a curious sea bird called from where it hung in the sky overhead, and he could not see no other living soul out there. This seemed like as good as any place to rest, just to catch his breath and regain some strength before exploring the forest beyond. Making no more pretenses, he fell to his knees and landed face first in the sand with a thud. The curious seagull drifted down, wings flapping and landed to perch on his head where it preened its feathers and pecked at his hair. From appearance alone, it seemed the Overseer himself had finally made a return from his long absence, and was taking a good nap.

Be good... Lorika peeled off her light cloak, allowing it to drift to the floor. She took the pins out of her coiled plait - it dropped down heavily when the last one released, and the braid loosened slightly as she shook her head.
Her white gloves joined the scarf on the wooden chair beside her dresser. The High Priestess' chamber wasn't all that different to any of the others, really - all plain, wooden furniture and stone walls. The only addition was the varnished dressing table she now sat at, blue eyes fixed on mirrored blue eyes. She had a moment of strange recollection, remembering the days when from the mirror stared eyes that shone an eerie red, making her appear like some sort of human fish-creature. Then her eyes moved upwards. A hint of blonde was visible at the side parting of her hair. She tutted and picked up a toothy comb, beginning to brush her long hair out. Was it really time to get the dye out again? She knew she ought to do it quickly. It occured to her that most of the present Order devotees had never seen her with her natural hair colour... that they'd probably not even recognise her. It was best to keep up the charade, if she could.
Lorika put the comb down, a strange feeling twisting in her stomach. She reached up to touch the parting, the giveaway to what she was beneath the dye, the title and the robes... or what she once had been. It was strange to think that only a month or so previously she'd been living a completely normal life on mainland Gaia. Now, she was sitting in the basement of a holy sanctuary. She was the figurehead of a hundred people... people who looked up to her, who needed her. Somewhere amidst the battle, she'd lost who she was. The only thing she held to remind her of a time before the Order was her name. Her name... a pitiful reflection of a person who no longer existed. She wasn't Lorika anymore. It was like she wasn't even a person. She was an embodiment of certain concepts - and who's to say those concepts are good?
The High Priestess stood up, pulling off her robes. It had been a long day - she'd been out until just that moment, negotiating with the Gambinos to keep the Order supplied. She was glad Gino wasn't there. That would have been far too much strangeness for one day.
Nightdress on, she made the decision to leave her hair down for once while in bed. She should probably have dyed it tonight, but as she was always up before anyone else anyway there didn't seem much point. She'd have plenty of time in the morning. The sheets were cool. The room was silent. Her eyes were open, staring into darkness.
She reached over to the bedside table and pulled open the drawer. Out of it, she drew an unbreakable vial of some dark blue liquid.
Soon enough, she was drifting in oblivion. Better that than the alternative. ...and you will be lonesome.

(( I can do morning or night with a few changes. Right now I have it as dawn, but if someone prefered nighttime, I'll gladly change it.
Edit: You included me in today's update! I feel so honored. )) The next day with the breaking of a new dawn, the sun was inched above the horizon, and the raucous calls of the sea gulls was a rude wake up call. The cold sands were quickly warming, and what was once one bird, had became many over the hours - a flocking mass of white feathered bodies, black beady eyes and yellow bills. All of them vying for a perch on the small rocks and the man laying prone on the beach, calling at each other and rummaging through his salt stiffened robes. With a groan, the sleeping figure moved and the birds took off as one in a cloud of flapping wings, only to land again on top of him. He flailed his arms. The birds flew up and settled right back down. Crying out, the last cobwebs of sleep vaporized in a panic when a gull nipped his face, and grasping at the sand, he jumped up to his feet. The hungry birds closed in again and he ran over the sand, yelling. The sea gulls tailed behind like a long white banner, making even more noise. Not one of his better mornings, he ran straight forward to the big black rocks on the shore. Seeing the first opportunity for shelter, he squeezed in sideways between two sea ragged boulders. Like a scene out of Hitchcock's movie, the sea gulls were relentless in pursuit, smelling food that was getting away from them. But the space between the rocks wasn't wide enough for them to fly through. The first bird that thought it would venture in, got a solid smack. He eyed the palm tree forest in the distance, and kicked at another beak that got too close, while he calculated his odds he'd find a better hiding spot within the trees.
