Currently seeking Minnie the Moucher by Cab Callaway. I have some of the big jazz names but I've recently become fond of the soul and blues jazz of the 'Blues Brothers' sort. Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, etc. But Louis Armstrong remains my idol.

Frustrated God Of The Ska I found an old record by Al Hirt called" Al Hirt at Mardi Gras" It is really good New Orleans jazz. Briliant songs and solos in it. Some excellent trombone players heart Yo...Rock! Have you heard it before? heart

I haven't really listened to much jazz of late. I remember though, the other day... I went into Borders.... and well, I looked over in the jazz section. Now, I must mention that I've had this Billie Holiday obsession, and well, you wouldn't believe how many Billie Holiday C.D.'s they had. I nearly had a heart attack... Then I realized I had no money... I did recently download her version of "Summertime" Other than that I've only heard random J-Pop/J-rock that they were playing at this one con last weekend.

I'm new here and don't know too many names, but...
There is an Australian artist...someone Burnett, who's just released this new CD called 'Counterpoint'. I absolutely love every song I've heard on it so far. She does really interesting things and the whole concept of what her music is about intrigues me.
And I will listen to anything with a lot of sax improv. It really makes me feel...at rest, I think, to listen to jazz music.
