So on a Heathen blog I follow, the writter occasionally presents us with a Nithing of the week. The last two weeks the epithet has been applied to the same man. The American Family Association's Bryan Fischer. [sarcasm]And it couldn't go to a nicer guy.[/sarcasm] Anyway, during one of the discussions on this...person...someone called him a troll-wife. Now I think that's a pretty awesome Heathen style insult.
*Nithing (ON niðingr) A nithing is a villain, scoundrel, coward, vile wretch. A nithing could also be a truce-breaker or a traitor. A niðing deed (niðingsverk) is an ill deed, or villainy. A person guilty of this sort of behavior was held in contempt.

Oh this thread got my laughing so hard. I have to share some of these with my aunt and uncle (my only pagan relatives, who happen to also cuss a lot). "Gardener's balls" and "Freyja's tits" are my favorite so far.
Though it's not quite a "pagan" curse I am now vividly remembering Bruenor (a dwarf) calling his best friend, Drizzt (a dark elf), "a son of an orc and a rock" in one of R.A. Salvatore's Legend of Drizzt books. That to this day remains my favorite curse ever.

UnseelieSweet Sweet baby Heracles! Son of a witch! I'm not very good at these, hahaI love the "Freyja's tits!" saying, I've got to use that! blaugh Ooh, I like the "sweet baby Heracles" one. I wouldn't use "son of a witch" though. It either implies bad things about witches or cancels itself out in my mind.

Something slipped out the other day, except rather than "Freyja's tits" it was Hera's. Oops =X I normally try to leave gods out of my cussing, with the exception of the ingrained "Oh my god!" I usually color my frustration with phrases along the lines of "******** a moose".

Somehow I totally missed the "Merlin's pants" one while reading this earlier. Also I don't remember that being in the book, though I have no doubt that Hermione would say something like that. I like that, Merlin's pants. I'll have to actually remember that one this time.
