When I first heard it I didnt like it but it kinda grew on me and now i like it more than original cast.

Mister: I would bet cash that LuPone at least gets a nomination for Best Actress. I don't compare her to Lansbury because they were playing such different versions of the same character. It'd be like comparing Renee Zellweger to Ann Reinking in Chicago: You could, but it wouldn't be accurate. I like them both. This is the best work LuPone has done since Evita (and I'm including that concert production where the only real highlight was Victoria Clark as the Beggar Woman).
And a little nitpicky thing about the DVD: It's not quite the original production. The original cast members on the DVD are Lovett, Tobias, the Judge, and possibly Johanna and some of the chorus. Len Cariou (original Sweeney) and Victor Garber (original Anthony) had already left the show by then.

johnny depp is playing st but that was only after they heard him sing. but hey there is a lot of people who since some parts of the songs then other parts r voiced over & hes been done with pirates of the carribbean 3 bc they taped that at the same time as the 2nd one they just wanted to wait til the next summer to release it.

I can't wait to see the movie, since from what I've heard Johnny Depp is starring as Sweeny Todd...The movie might come out later than planned though, since Depp's daughter came down with the E. coli virus, and he didn't leave her bedside for 2 weeks, halting production of the movie...

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Sweeney Todd. I saw a high school production of it and it was ******** AMAZING. They were sooo wonderful! So then I rushed home and bought the revival soundtrack from iTunes(cause it's the only one they have). I bought the Angela Lansbury and George Hearn DVD a week ago and it arrived yesterday... and I love it!!
Except for JOHANNA. Gawd, I disliked her version of 'Greenfinch and Linnett Bird' so much! She was good during 'Kiss Me', though. Everything else was perfect! I loved the guy playing Tobias. He was so likeable! And he really got the accent right, even while singing. I think I'm officially in love with George Hearn's Sweeney, though. <333 And, of course, Lansbury's Ms. Lovett.
I think I prefer the revival soundtrack, though. Nicer orchestrations and singing. However, my theatre teacher saw it and said it wasn't nearly as good as the original.
As for the upcoming movie... I'm VERY skeptical. Because of Tim Burton directing, Johnny Depp as Sweeney, and Helena Bonham-Carter playing Ms. Lovett. Especially that last one!! She did the voice for the Corpse Bride, and I really, really, REALLY don't think she has a strong enough voice for Ms. Lovett!
I am kind of excited about Sacha Baron Cohen playing Pirelli. xD
