Sabine -o- Winters

As the powder blew past Sabine's face she couldn't help but let out a sneeze... and a adorable sneeze at that. So much for seeming angry... that damn sneeze of hers always screwed her over. She wiped at her nose with her napkin before looking back up at Iliad who was smirking and asking for her name again. She had overlooked his who... measurements comment and shook her head.

"Touche..." Was all she said, raising one eyebrow and giving him a smirk. "If you must call me something, it can be Blackbird."

She sat back in her chair, folding her arms over her chest and crossing one leg over the other.

"Stan... we're going to need some breakfast over here, and since the wonderful gent is paying, bring everything." She said with a wink in Iliad's direction. As much as she disliked company, she could see herself enjoying his.

After a very long shift, Echo decided to go to his favorite tarvern to have drink. he still wore his armor but his helmet and both guantlets were off and hooked to his side. *sigh* another day and still nothing worth fighting for.... Echo thought to him. He heard rumors that something was happening inside the Imperial City but he never got the details. So like everyother day he sat down at the bar table and began to have a small drink to pass some time

Iliad leaned back, victorious. He had wasted some valuable poison to prove a point but it was worth it, he got a name out of her, and quite possibly the cutest sound he ever heard. "God bless you... please sneeze again, I want to make sure I heard correct." Iliad said, "Did that adorable sound came out of a grumpy girl like you?" He asked, mocking bewilderment. Iliad smiled again and crossed his legs under the table, well not really crossing his legs, but he placed his ankle on top of his other knee. Placing his elbows on the table and resting his chin on his hands he spoke, "Blackbird huh, thats cute," He then chuckled, "I'm sorry, I'm not supposed to be flirting, its just kind of hard, you make it so easy. So tell me, does that name come with a story?" Iliad then heard her tell a waiter, he guessed a waiter anyway, that he was paying so he should bring over everything.
Iliad smiled and pulled out four different wallets, "Lets see what we got here..." Iliad said checking them all. The thickest one came from the man he chased not to long ago, but the rest were not half bad either, "Yea, I think I can cover me, you and a few of your closest friends," Iliad then smiled, Knowing her she'll pick out a few people she knows just to stick it to me. He thought, causing him to add, "Not that you should tell anyone to come over." Iliad smiled and put three of the wallets back, leaving one black leather one out. Using the knife at the table Iliad sliced open the wallet at a weak point in the leather and began fishing around inside. When his fingers found something he smirked, pulling out a ring. "Someone is going to be upset with their husband..." He said reading the inscription on the ring, "'Our love, strong and true...'" Looking past the ring at Blackbird he smiled.
Reaching into his pocket he dug around and found his note book, a book he used to take notes of different things, usually which houses had dogs, babies, and weird sleep paterns. Iliad opened to a black page and placed the ring in the middle of the gutter, the shadow made it form a heart on the pages. "For you." He said sweetly, smiling a devilish grin.

She pouted a little and turned her head away not really wanting to make any sort of comment to her sneeze. It was... her Achilles heel if you would... the one thing that made her cute. At one point she was, but not during these times.

"Shut up..." She said finally before raising an eyebrow at the wallets coming from his pockets.

They all couldn't be his, and a smirk came to her face. She leaned in and grinned.

"Seems that I'm not the only one here who is doing something illegal." She said with a smirk, before leaning back in her chair.

Sabine couldn't help but roll her eyes once again, as he tried to get her real name out. Sure a story about her nickname would be fun... but if he as much tried to get her real name out of her...

"Like the Raven, or the Black Bird... I symbolize death. Bring about it if you get on my bad side. This get up isn't just for show. I'm trained as a Swordsman. Very rare I know... but I had the best teacher."

She saw him pull out a gold ring and smirked.

"The ring or the heart. Either one wont get you into my pants. I like the little ploy you have going on here, but it's not working with me."

Iliad smiled when he was told to shut up, Found your little tick... that was fast. He thought to himself, it was good to know what irked people, so you could either avoid it or exploit it. Iliad then heard her comment about all the wallets. "Well," He said, shrugging, "it seemed like a fair trade off of information, I'm a thief, you're a magic user, now we each have a little bit of a reason to want eachothers well being. I wouldn't want you getting caught, might rat me out." He said.
Iliad looked at the girl, What is it about her name that she avoids telling me it... He thought to himself. Just then he heard her explanation of her nickname, "How very morbid, I opt you change it to something like, Sparrow, or Blue Jay, maybe even Cardinal, if you must you could say your name is Cardinal due to the fact you're red, drenched in blood after battle. It would be a lie, but I won't tell anyone." Iliad leaned back again and switched which foot was on the floor and which was resting on his knee.
Iliad heard Blackbird's last comment and let out a deep sigh, "Both, but why do you insist on taking me down a peg at every chance. I'm not trying to set the world on fire, I'm just simply trying to light a flame in your heart." Iliad said, locking eyes and giving her his best smile.

She smirked and rolled her eyes.

"Oh yes, because Bluebird and Cardinal will really spark fear in the eyes of my enemy when I come running. They might die, but out of laughter from the name. No, I'd much prefer to stick with the morbid one.

She let the smirk fall from her face and shook her head. She wasn't interested in some one night stand, some simple screw and then he'd leave. She didn't want to be used and just thrown away. Even though she didn't believe she deserved love... she hoped to find it one day, and it wouldn't be in the arm and wit of a player. No... no that would just hurt.

"Trust me... you don't want a fire to ignite in this cold heart."

She leaned back against her chair, but as soon as she did the door that they had come from was broken down and guards, the same ones from earlier had marched inside with their weapons drawn. She paled again, before looking for a way to escape. She needed to get out of here. Her life depended on it. People in the bar were screaming and yelling, and before she knew it some spells and powers were firing off. She jumped off the chair and ducked close to the table, before sucking in a breath. She started to sing, a soft, haunting melody, and before long everyone else in the bar would relive their worst nightmare over and over again. She just prayed that this time it didn't backfire on her.

Iliad sighed, "Hey, you never know, sometimes what strikes fear into somebody is the one thing they don't expect to see," He raised a finger to go along with the word one, "like a cardinal picking at the eyes of the dead like a common crow." He re-crossed his legs and put his hand down.
Iliad ruffled his hair as she spoke again, God, this girl is moody as hell... He thought. "If not a fire, then atleast allow me to warm it up." He said with a smile, "A cold heart is not a strong one, flames may be hard to maintain, but impossible to break, ice however cracks under the slightest pressure." He told her.
Iliad leaned back in his chair at the same time Black bird did, however his ears caught something most would not. Heavy boots, alot of them, and armour clanging. Iliad stood up and pulled out a throwing knife. Just as he did the door bursted open and guards started to pour in. Iliad launched one of his knives and caught a guard in the shoulder, just then he felt magic wiz by his head. Ducking he thought to himself, I have to get Blackbird, and get the ******** out of here, she is the only one that might be able to lead me to the princess. Iliad looked at the table where they just were but didn't see her. He turned and saw her under a table. "HEY!" He called out taking a step to her, but as he did she opened her mouth and let a morbid melody excape her lips. Iliad grabbed his head. Shaking as he felt his mind tearing. "ARRRRGH!" He screamed.
Iliad looked around, everyone had gathered around in the town square. He tried to see over everyone but he had not grown fully, only able to see the back of a man's shoulder. He had heard something that he just knew had to be untrue, "He can't be here, I just know he isn't..." Iliad thought aloud, pushing his way through the crowd of people. Finally he heard a voice call out to the crowd. "These individuals here today are all guilty of great acts of injustice, and have been sentenced to death!" The voice called out, "Here, we have a man guilty of killing his own brother in cold blood... And here, a woman, so vile, she cheated on her own husband, despite being a mother of 3." Iliad kept trying to break through to the front. "I did no such thing!" A female voice shrieked out. "Here, we have a man who raped his neighbor's daughter... And lastly," Iliad finally made it to the front and felt his heart sink deep into his gut. As if there was no end, tears were rolling down Iliad's face but he couldn't say anything. The man continued, "we have a man whose notoriety as a thief is unmatched, he claims to have been inside every house in the city at one point in his long carreer." Iliad couldn't help it, "Father... FATHER!" He called out, though it was drowned out with the talk and murmer of the crowd. Iliad's father was wearing a black bag over his head so Iliad could not see his face, but the clothes, and body were all his. Just then the floor gave out and the four criminals dropped. Two of the men had their necks break instantly, but Iliad's father and the woman were too light for their necks to break. They hung there, squirming and shaking out of pure instinct and the will to live, but soon both of them died. Iliad wanted to throw up but more than that he felt a burning rage, just then the man spoke again, "Let this punishment be a reminder to live your life on the right side of the la--" Just then Iliad jumped to the front of the crowd, pure hate in his eyes, "I-- I'LL KILL YOU, I'M GOING TO KILL YOU ALL!!" He roared, his youthful high pitched voice breaking under the strain.
Iliad looked around, all was black, and he could feel sweat forming all around him. A familiar voice rang out. "These individuals here today are guilty of great acts of injustice and have been sentensed to death." Iliad knew he was going to die, he thought he made peace with it as soon as he got arrested, 'A fitting end to a long carreer...' is what he told himself. He felt a noose being fitted around his neck, as it hung there he felt a deeper and deeper fear envelope him. I'm going to go to hell... after all this I'm going to burn in hell... He was damn near crying at this point. His fear doubled everytime the man called out a criminal and described his crimes. Finally when he got to Iliad the man said, "And lastly, we have a man whose notoriety as a thief is unmatched, he claims to have been inside every house in the city at one point in his long carreer." Just then Iliad couldn't hold it in any longer, he screamed at the top of his lungs and tried to run, despite the noose around his neck. Father you must be ashamed of how weak I am.
Iliad felt a blazing pain on his head, "Where, where am I?" He asked in a groggy voice, holding his head, where ever he was it was not a place he wanted to be for much longer. All around him people were screaming in pain, hands on their heads, only a faint voice, a song, cut through the screams. Iliad looked around, he was on the floor, and blood was pouring down his face from his brow. Looking above him Iliad could tell he must have tripped and hit his head on the bar counter. Iliad was confused for a second longer before everything rushed back to him, That song, I must make it stop! He jumped to his feet and quickly followed the sound to its source. "Bl- Blackbird?!" Iliad was shocked but he had no time, who knew when the nightmare would start again. He grabbed her shoulders and began to shake her as hard as he could, her body felt frail under his grasp but he wasn't taking a chance. "STOP, STOP IT, WE HAVE TO GO!" He called out to her. Iliad's vision glazed back to the crowd he saw when he was younger, he doubled the strength of his shake.

Sabine -o- Winters

She saw the people around her drop, their visions going black as they experienced their worst fears. She looked around the bar for Iliad, but before she could run to get him and get out of here, she felt her own vision go hazy. She slipped backwards, her body falling under the table. She was still singing that melody, but her mind was elsewhere.

She saw herself standing in front of her father, his white eyes stare biting right through her. He was ghastly, thin, beaten and bloody, as if he had been starved and slashed over and over again. She could see the blood pouring from his throat and chest making hers hurt. She remembered this... and the very thought made her sick.

"You..." He said, blood spurting out of his neck every time he spoke. "You did this to me... you killed me daughter. It was you. How could I have loved someone who couldn't follow directions, who sent her own father to his grave. No one will love you. You'll die alone."

She backed up and found herself pressed against the wall in her nightmare, her fathers bloodied hand moving closer to her. She cried out and covered her mouth but before long she was standing in front of the Royal Guards. They all had smirks on their faces, as she was backhanded to the ground.

"Pitiful... One said, stepping forward and placing his foot on her chest. "You have been charged with treason... and will have your magic removed."

"No! No please... please don't." She heard herself cry out in her dream. But it didn't stop them. They had her pinned, and before long she felt the pain of her magic separating from her soul. She screamed and started shaking... shaking...

Shaking! Someone was shaking her. She felt her vision come back, her chest heaving. Her song had stopped, as the tears which had come to her eyes started to drift down her cheeks. She saw Iliad in front of her his hands on her shoulders and a small cut on his forehead. She looked past him at the guards and shakily stood, taking his hand and rushing out of the bar. She needed to get out of there before they pinpointed this on her. When the made it outside and into the street she started running. The tears were burning her eyes making things hard to see.

Iliad let out a sigh of relief as Blackbird came back to her senses. She finally shut her damn mouth and before Iliad could say anything he felt himself being pulled by her. They ran for a bit at her speed, Iliad trying not to leave her in the dust, but finally Iliad couldn't take it anymore. "Stop, stop... I can't stand this anymore, take a tip from a thief who knows a thing or two about this stuff, always take the high ground." He said pointing to the roofs of the buildings lining the street. Turning around he pointed to his back with his thumb, "Hold on tight, and by tight I don't mean choke the hell out of me." Iliad bent down and waited for her to get on. It might be a little too much trust for him to ask of her but Iliad would get her to the other side of town in a heart beat if she let go of her apprehension and got onto his back. "Hurry up, the Royal Guard will soon track us down and every second at street level is another second someone might see our faces."

Sabine -o- Winters

Sabine turned and looked at him, the tears still cascading down her cheeks. She knew it was true... it was better to take the roofs, or if anything, the sewers. The main streets were the worst. Before long she nodded and walked around behind him wrapping her arms around his shoulders not his neck. She placed her head down against his back, not caring about his arms as they looped behind her and held her bare thighs. She closed her eyes and soon they were off.

She was shaking, her heart in her chest beating wildly. That nightmare... was still there, looming over her body, mind and soul. She hated her magic for this reason. But... she needed it. She needed it to live.

"I'm sorry..." She said quietly against his back.

Night watched her friend take the swig them make a pained sound while corking the bottle. "Are you ok Marcus?" She asked him with concern. Hearing him continue on with what he was saying. Shaking her head, she let him slide it off as being tired from being out all night. Hearing the theater district was where she was supposed to be brought a small laugh to her lips along with a grin. "Oh yes, plenty of places to hide there. If I were them I would start with the theater itself with all the hiding places beneath the stages and behind them."

She could tell there her best friend was hiding something from her and that concerned her more than being caught and put to death. Looking at him with narrowed eyes, she spoke softly. "You're hiding something," she said plainly. She left his last words alone for the moment, first she wanted to know what happened last night. "What happened to your wrist that you are carefully not using. What all happened last night?"

Iliad smiled, "Thanks for trusting me." He said as he scooped her legs. He jumped once to get a feel for how the new weight would affect him and bolted down into an alley. He couldn't use his hands so he had to use more of his intermediate thiefing skills, Amature hour is over I guess, time to show off a little bit. He thought. Iliad still running, fast enough that Sabine's and Iliad's hair fluttered in the wind, he began to edge towards the right wall. When he got close enough Iliad placed one foot on the brick wall, then another, and another. Running on the wall wasn't as hard as it seemed, running with someone piggy backing on you was, but thats a different story. Now comes the hard part. Iliad jerked hard into the wall, and pushed off as hard as possible. He hung in the air for a second before reaching the other wall of the alley, when he met the wall he allowed his body to continue moving into it before using all that coiled tenstion in his legs to bound back to the other wall. He kept at this until he was on the roof. Never loosing a step Iliad began to run down the roof, jumping from building to building when he needed. "Soory for what?" He called out.
Iliad smiled, he was in the clear, or so he thought. A quick look back made him grind his teeth, Someone is on my tail... NO ONE can keep up with me... He thought bitterly. "No one can match my speed, no one, my feet are fleet and my heart is light, I am a Blade on the Wind, and NO ONE CAN MATCH ME!" It might have seemed like he was just being cocky but Iliad actually chanted a hymn his father taught him. It gave him an unmatched speed, he could not hold it for long, but he knew he would be able to outrun this man on his tail. As he started to pick up speed a visible gust started to form around him. Calling back to Sabine, "Hey, burry your face in my back and take slow deep breaths, and hold on tighter than ever!" His voice was being lost in the wind, and sounded like it was vibrating.
Iliad was heading for the theatre district, the maze of people and alleys was more than enough to disappear. Also, this might help me get away, Iliad thought as he allowed himself to fall down a gap between two buildings. Iliad caught one of the walls with his feet and using his imense speed, he ran along the side of the wall as if he was an insect. He jumped from alley wall to alley wall the same way he jumped from roof to roof, but unlike the roof it would be harder to spot him. Iliad could feel he was loosing energy fast, but he wouldn't stop until he knew no one was following him.
