Avvie starred at the picture held tight in Melody's hands. She couldn't help but let out another one of her girlie squeaks.
"She is as adorable as my gram!" The rose haired girl cried out. "And lookit how cute you were!"
Avvie whipped the sketchpad open and got straight to work on drawing out the features of Melody's grandmother. Complete in the dress she was wearing and the ringlets in her hair. She got the age marks and falling blossoms from the tree. The pattern on her garment and the angelic look of her face. Then, Avvie drew a second smaller image in the corner of Gran and little Melody.
The picture took a matter of a few minutes to doodle out. It was not super detailed, but detailed enough that it got the point across. She held the draft up for Melody to see clearly.
"Gran or you and Gran?" Avvie asked with a c**k of her head.

She watched in awe as the girl worked, brown eyes following the pencil even as she drew the second picture involving a much younger version of herself. Looking between the two she wanted to say just her Gran, as adding herself seemed to be too much work. Or at least she was telling herself that to make herself feel better.
But, in the end, she knew which one she would choose and she pointed to the doodle involving two forms instead of the one. "The second one, if you don't mind." Her voice was much softer this time, in awe and perhaps sadness, and she really wouldn't be surprised if she had to repeat herself again. "Please."

"Of course!" Avalon flipped a page in her book to draw the picture larger, which she did. As quick and detailed as the last.
She held the book up once again for Melody to critique. "Did I miss anything, a pattern you would like on her dress or a swish of hair that I should incorporate?"

For the first time in awhile she felt the need to cry and she couldn't place why. She didn't though and made a note to, perhaps for once, play a piece she didn't usually play outside of concert halls. She just hoped it wouldn't affect her fellow students.
"No, Avvie. It's absolutely perfect, thank you."

"You're very welcome." Avvie responded with a c**k of her head. She noticed the emotion in Melody's eyes, but didn't play on them. Instead she just plopped the notebook onto her desk, closed the drawer that she had opened earlier, returned Mini Avvie to her place on the bookshelf, and straightened one of the canvases that sat on an easel.
"I will get to work on it right away. It will probably take a week or so until it completely done, colored, and fired." Avvie stated with a firm nod.

"No, that's fine. I understand that good art takes time." Smiling, she moved to stand and smoothed her skirt. "Is there anything you'd like in return? I feel I should give you something in repayment, even if it's small."

Avalon thought hard, a thoughtful finger to her lip. She starred at the lamp in her room for a good long minute before she finally brought her hands down onto her knees and beamed up at Melody.
"Let me hear you play your cello." Avvie smiled. That was a fair trade she thought. Her art for Melody's. Hopefully the other teen would not object. But for good measure, "Please?"

While she wasn't quite expecting that, Melody could see how a trade of art would be fair and she smiled and nodded. "I don't see how that could hurt. Though would it be okay to wait until you give me the statue? I'm working on a new piece and would love to have some one listen to it once it's done. You may or may not have an ear for music but it's better to have one person listen then none at all."

Avvie couldn't help but laugh. Melody was so right.
"I really do not have any ear for music. I just like what I like." Avalon continued giggling. She composed herself after a few moments.
"That sounds fair to me!" Avvie returned with a c**k of head, as per usual. "I would love to admire your new piece when it is ready, even if it is after I finish your present." The girl smiled and opened the dorm room door waving out at a few passing students.
"WAIT UP! I have something for you!" Avvie called after them, then turned back to Melody.
"Shall I get started on it now? It was great meeting you, you truly have me inspired!" Avvie grinned from ear to ear, her eyes scrunched all tight, the shear emotion of the inspiration playing over her face.
"I will return to your room later, probably for a color consult!" The giddy girl spoke.

"Which is how music should be, enjoyed by all for whatever reason they like." Moving to follow the hyperactive girl out, Melody couldn't help but find herself laughing as she found more "victims" to chase after with her markers.
"It was wonderful to meet you as well, and I hope that you enjoy this year with the school." Exiting the room and entering the hall, she took the few steps it took to place her at her own door then turned to smile brightly at the pink haired girl. "I'll be in my room all evening, so any time is good. Until then~"
And with that the ganguro girl disappeared into her own room to resume what she had been doing, smile still on her face. Avvie was definitely a sweet little girl.
