Elst, returning from feeding some of the tropical birds that resided in the forested section of his property, was busily getting back home, seeing as Miss Longway he knew would return soon. One pounce later, and he knew he needn’t rush, there she is… “Oh, hello…guests? Who came to visit…?” Before she could answer, however, he made sure to snag her in a nice, long, kiss…He’d put so much work into figuring out how to do it right, would hate for a talent to go wasted~

Aoi laughed inwardly as he watched Ellandra’s handling of Vin’s injuries. He really didn’t have a choice, did he? For the better, Aoi felt; the dude needed someone to make him get better…and seeing as Aoi didn’t want to be too forceful, he couldn’t be the one to do it. He honestly was happy to see him get a little treatment, at least. But now, would you look at that…Now Rhi was mothering him, sheesh, must run in the family…

“Don’t worry, sis, I’m eating, I’m eating…” he said, smiling. He took a bite of the bread she offered to prove it. But, oh, no…she’s cowering again, aww, let’s just keep her close and safe…

Ellandra herded Vin successfully into the bathroom and dug out some bandages (how she knew where they were was best not to ask), looking him over carefully. "All right, sir, what sort of injury is it? Cut or burn or something else?" she asked, hand hovering over the different creams and gels that were available to her.

Rhian cuddled close to Aoi, closing her eyes. 'I keep hearing him. I know he's here, I just know it.....'

"Ssjust a burn." Sheesh woman. Not about to make a fuss now he just started unwinding the bandage on his arm, giving a slight twinge when it got to the part where it started to smart again. That was easily fixed with some pain-control though, a few arcs of black lightning sparking over his raw-red skin. Quite an extensive patch of damage there, but at least it'd just been water, not some oil or other nifty stuff.

Even if it'd only been a few days, the edges of the wound were healing quite nicely already. He'd been looking after himself as well as he could, and the essentic healing factor gave things another boost.

"Hmm-MMM, hooowdy there good evening." she greeted him after hapily returning the smoochie. "Ellandra and her charge are here. Vin and Aoi have been looking after them for now, na." she murred loosely. "How's work been here today hmm?" she asked him, all relaxed,, nothing off back inside, don't you worry.

Aoi kept Rhian close in the hug, the mist utterly exuding soothe. Rhi…sis…he isn’t here, he never will be, please, trust me…I’d know if he was. And I’d never let him near you, never let him hurt you again… He meant it, too. He’d spent time practicing with electricity. It hurt, oh gods did it hurt to use, but if he came here, if he needed to defend his sister, he would use it. No hesitation.

Elst kept himself nicely wrapped around Longway as they walked back towards the house. There’s a chance she’s cold, we can’t let that be, yes, keep the lovely woman warm, eh? “Oh…I wonder what brings Ellandra and Rhian here…And Vin, really? It’s good to hear he’s finally existing a little more…” He allowed himself a moment’s thought. “Oh, nothing too interesting today, at least until you got here…” That may have sounded like some sappy compliment, but in Elst’s case he honestly meant it. “…It has been a little busier than usual, though. How was work for you?"

"Just a painful burn, from the looks of it, regardless of whatever abilities you have in regards to the. Here, this will help it heal faster," she said, offering him some burn ointment. "And I'd bandage it loosely rather than tightly, to give it room to get a little air. . . no need to add another scar when you can help it, hm?" Ellandra added, smiling at Vin in a gentle, timid manner.

Rhian snuggled as close to Aoi as she could shaking and trying very hard not to panic. 'Then why do I hear him? Why?' she sobbed desperately, clinging tightly to her flower-brother, wanting held and kept safe and comfy.

For the sake of rule of unfunny we could always assume a certain hobo had just passed by the nursery unwittingly.

"I wonder, too. Rhian looks pretty shaken up by something... Might not be a bad thing for Aoi to have her around, though. At least the two of them aren't the 'let's go down together' thing." Timka pondered, happily letting herself be tucked in close against him. She'd been pretty surprised to see Rugovin interacting with them, too, actually.

Gawh, 'sappy' indeed. She knew better than to think of it as merely mush though, he really did mean that. gawww you. "Oh, work was fine, fine, really. Just the usual, and Kim hopped by. She'll be getting a job nearby, you know."
Yup, just the usual banter. Whoo, let's get inside then and check up on the guests. At least she'd noticed Vin had already dragged them in some tea and crackers. Cracker-nut. Nutcracker.

Back in the bathroom, Vin was getting more irked by the second, clicking aggravatedly softly. Mother of all, woman, I KNOW. And I likely know better than you, too. Damn, he was getting an annoyed eyetwitch, too.
Trying to bear with her for a while longer -he could always go snarl and sulk outdoors later- he just let her fuss, refusing to look at her, expression growing rather sour. Good gods, I know, stop telling me stuff that's nothing new to me as if you're trying to teach a toddler how to read. The moment you have your shinbone sticking out of your knee and you fix it yourself, THEN you can come to me and tutor me on first aid. The way she was being so saintly about it just drove the spike even deeper. Until his already-strained patience gave out.

"What do you think I am, five?" he growled dully, frowning at her. "I've been looking at myself just fine for longer than you've probably lived, I don't need someone nanny-ing over me." Feathercrest raised high, not as a threat but more in injured pride, he took the ointment from her, and put it back down. He wasn't sounding too harsh just yet, not wanting to antagonise the lady, both because she was Rhian's caretaker, and frankly, you just didn't fight with women. It's just not right, especially not if they're trying to do right, no matter how irksome they go about it. Rather poignantly ignoring her he first gave his hands a wash in the sink, then stoicly applied the salve on the wound, with controlled strokes. Wincing slightly, the corner of his mouth giving just the slightest uncomfortable pull, he finally looked at her again.
"What's one scar more. Not sure if you're aware but everything leaves a mark, even if you can't see it." he told her, rather low-sounding, then picked up a patch of gauze and a clean roll of bandages. He carefully laid the patch over the wound, letting it soak up the ointment some, then deftly wrapped up his forearm until the burn was covered again. People, it's very easy to forget the luxury of having decent bandages to use, oh yes. There. No, that wasn't hard, no, I didn't need your help with that.
WHY was he feeling all twisted now, urgh.
My kingdom for some pants, too. Before you knew it she'd be poking around on his knee as well, bothersome fussy female.

Yes, keep Rhi close, keep her safe…he’ll never hurt you again, sis, never… It’s just the fear, sis…don’t be afraid…I’ll protect you from anything, hear me? I’ll never let him near you again, ever… Every inkling of soothe he could put out, was being put out to the fullest. He kept her in this nice, warm sibling-cuddle, and would keep them that way for as long as she needed it.

Internally, however, a panic was echoing. He’d long earlier taken the man’s mind-print off of Rhi, and oh yes, he sensed it, there it was…probably here to see if he could get in to mess with his sister again! He’d make sure nothing of that sort happened….but how? He couldn’t leave Rhi’s side…and he couldn’t zap the man from afar, seeing as the pain electromancy caused him would make him scream, and freak out his poor little sis even worse. For now…he would simply send out his mist to electrify the gate, a simple charge was all it would take, yes…His mist, once diluted to the point where Rhian would not see it exit, escaped the house to do Aoi’s bidding. No one was getting in here, to his sister, oh no…

-

Elst nodded a little, kissing the top of his most treasured love’s head. Not that it was too difficult a task at his height. yes…it is comforting, to say the least, that they can be there for each other. I never seem to be there for him enough…“ A little more walking, yes, kiss kiss. Nah, not mush at all… “Oh, Kim? What work does she plan to go into?”

Ellandra bit her lip and stepped away from Vin, a hand dropping to her abdomen in a protective manner. Trying not to let her timidity come back in full force, she dropped her eyes and bobbed in a little bit of a curtsy as an apology. "I...... I'm sorry, sir, I suppose I'm just too used to taking care of Rhian," she said softly, her voice shaking just a little - she'd overstepped her bounds, here . . .

Rhian let out a soundless little cry and huddled closer to Aoi, somehow just knowing that there was something wrong going on. She grabbed at the blanket and pulled it over her head, trying not to cry. 'He's here, he's here, I know he is, I walked here he musta followed me...

It was hard to hold back on the indignancy radiating off him indeed, even if Vin really did not intend to scare the woman into submission. The fact he'd made her cower just made him feel worse, if that was even possible. He had to fix this somehow, before she ended up being wary of him forever.

Finding no better way than to try and break his dominance over her, he sighed aggravatedly, and sat down on the edge of the bathtub. There, now I'm shorter than you. Please don't be scared?

"You're doing nothing wrong, except for direly underestimating me, miss." he said to her, in a tone that held no hostility, just a certain bluntness in stating that fact. "You may have indeed noticed I'm not like Rhian, nor any of the youngsters." The Essentic was eyeing her sternly now, pale eyes locked onto her face.

"You have nothing to fear from me in terms of hostility, I'd never think of harming you... But I must warn you, I have slipped up many times before. It's not a good idea to provoke me, for your own sake."
When he said that he looked dead serious. He wasn't bluffing, nor was he boasting about it. If she had the heart to listen well, she might even hear a trace of bitterness, self-resentment in his words. "You'd do well to leave me be..." he looked away from her with that, looking aside sullenly, and barely holding back a heavy sigh. What was the damn MATTER with him, he just kept putting people off, causing distress everywhere he went. Guh.

A small arc of black lightning silently sparked over his legs again when he shivered, tense. Ever since he'd agreed to staying here, he just felt like he was tumbling down from a set of steep stairs, hitting yet another step every day. He hoped the final crunch would arrive sometime soon, because he didn't know how long his nerves would last him through this.

--

Elsewhere miss Longway was having a friendly chatter with Elst, catching up and purring up a flashflood, until she finally got them back to the house. Damn, what a heavy atmosphere in there.

Yet further elsewhere, Rezznort merely got a static tingle when he passed by the gates, thinking no more of it than an odd nuisance. How was he supposed to know he wasn't supposed to be here, not like he stalked poor traumatised girls for a living, y'know.

Ellandra sighed a little, shrugging a bit and relaxing her stance somewhat. "It's - it's all right, really. I shouldn't have fussed so much. It's just. . . I'm afraid I've adopted most of the young ones as part of my family in one way or another, and . . . well, with all you must have been through I just wanted . . .to . . ." She trailed off for a moment and heaved a heavier, more upset sigh, wringing her hair in her hands. "I . . . I wish I'd been born a long time ago, when I might have actually been able to try and make a difference in what happened." She bit her lip, tears rising in her eyes. "But all I can do is try and protect my little flutterby and Ziazan - and I couldn't even do that. . . . I - I couldn't even keep Rhian safe. . . "

"You felt like petting the dog. Fine by me, I just prefer hanging onto what pride I have left." came the rather dull response. No harm done, lady, no harm done. I don't reproach you for anything. Her next words sent him into a bout of heavy-laden silence.

"Everybody fails."
he eventually said, feathers low, gazing at the bathroom floor sullenly. Everyone fails. I do, Banning did, you do, Rhian does. Aoi and Elst, Faolan and Ziazan, Lee and Lauss...

"I would have made no difference in what time you'd been born. Every generation does what she can, for better or for worse. There was nothing anyone could have done, forty-one years ago. You'd only have gotten yourself compromised." He could say that so definitely, and yet... and yet, he still felt betrayed direly. They couldn't, but the SHOULD have done something. What a disgusting, selfish thing to demand.

"As for Rhian, it happens. You cannot control a spirit living in this abundancy, she was bound to run into trouble at some point. Back when I first met her, I could've already predicted this. As long as we're there for her now, when she need it most, we're already doing all we can." he looked at Ellandra again then, speaking calmly. "Don't be too hard on yourself."
PostPosted: Thu Nov 12, 2009 12:33 am

Aoi frowned a bit as he made the electricity self-maintained, then immediately turned all his attention to Rhian. Rhi…sis…no, even if he was, he’d never get in this Nursery, it’s safe… Cuddle cuddle. Well, he didn’t want to lie to her, so he did his best to soothe her while avoiding any untruths. Honestly, though - there was a certain hobo that would be far better off staying away. He was lucky he had no reason to come in, really. Lightning hurt to use, but that was of absolutely no concern to this flower child. But the nursery was secure, that was definite. Walls high, gates locked, the whole shebang, you might say.

Ah yes, though, Elst, obliviously outside, with Aoi having buffered their mental connection yet again, had no idea of what was going on, simply enjoying time with dearest Timka. Not that he called her that, oh no, he was still deeply afraid of calling her anything but Miss Longway, no, couldn’t risk offending her, she might realize how awful I am and leave me…

-On a happier note, he’d never realized ho much he liked the sound of purring until he head it coming from her. Oh, hey, would you look at that, here comes the house - my, what was going on in here…

Mrrrr, some head-knuckling would surely ensue the day she heard him spout more of that butbut gibberish. For now she just assumed he was still being fretty about every duck and its downy butt, but as long as he seemed to be happy, all good for her.

So, there we are, safe and sound back home. Hm? Ellandra seems to have snuck off with Vin somewhere, innuendo entirely voided by the fact everyone should know the parrot didn't do dirty, and Rhian was still cuddled up with Aoi, looking decidedly upset. Odd how people just went on and 'did stuff' regardless of the house-owner being around or not. Hyur hur.

"Howdy people, finally have everyone assembled." the Ruska announced, only mildly dampening her high-spirited jeer to not sound too jarringly happy, not with Rhian like this. "Misha should be getting home, soon, as well. Anyone care for dinner? Or have you been munching on ahead anyway." she asked the pair of essentics loosely, still pleasantly cuddled against Elst. Being supportive of Aoi and his sister was one thing, supporting wallowing in angst and gloom was another. If the issue's too rough to fix easily, at least get your mind working on more cheery things, eh kids? Chasing your own tail in the dark never helped anyone before, time for some common sense. Back to reality-time.

Ellandra managed a weak, tremulous little smile for Vin, and bobbed another curtsy for him. "Th-thank you.... sir," - the title just falling from her lips because in her mind, something about him demanded that respect even as he denied it. She tilted her head a little, eyes closing in thought. " I believe Rhian's had other ecounters with people I don't know about, she never was the most careful. . . though none of them ever harmed her like this man." She paused again and sighed softly. "I can only hope her voice will come back with time..."

Rhian trembled a little more, only relaxing when she fully noticed it was Miss Longway and Elst-plant coming in. And Misha-fluffy was coming over, too? Biting her lip, she snuggled against her big flower brother a little more and started puffing up as much cotton candy as she could - it would give her something to focus on besides that fear, that terrible, crippling fear that never seemed to fully let her go, no matter what she tried, no matter what anyone said. How much cotton candy could she make? Let's hope she doesn't fill the room, people, someone stop her before she buries herself in the pink fluff.

Yes, fretting he was - he simply couldn’t manage the thought that maybe, just maybe, she actually enjoyed being with him. Literally, the concept just couldn’t seem to get through his skull. Oh well, though, at least he was happy, and so was she, that was nice. He liked that, when he could make her day pleasant, only thing he really put much work into these days, seeing as most of the other things he needed to do worked naturally for him.

He saw Rhian’s sadness, even he could notice the signs, but…Aoi seemed to be handling it, so…he’d probably just make things worse. Plus, Miss Longway was busy with them now. “I can help with any cooking…” was all he really had to say on the matter.

Upon seeing Miss Longway, Aoi, keeping close to Rhi, simply smiled warmly up at her. He’d easily accepted her as a mother by now, after all. You up for some food, sis…? He felt her panic, yes, he saw her coping with the cotton candy…but for now, he just kept quiet, kept her close and warm.
