He first noticed something was different when the ball he held did not come back down to either crash into to the floor or smack an unspecified and unsuspecting part of his body. Rindou was getting pretty used to being hit in the face by whatever he'd been playing with, much to Jarett's chagrin, so when several minutes passed and nothing happened he grew worried. Instantly his hands were out in front him, grasping at the air, and a few swings above his head and around his feet indicated that he wasn't just imagining things (like usual). The Dustling let out an disgruntled sigh as he moved from a seated and floating position to one where his legs were firmly on the ground, his body poised to turn and walk off. It was no fun at all to keep playing if the source of his amusement was no where to be found, and Rindou grumbled under his breath as he swing his leg forward . . . .right into something. The sound of an object coming into heavy contact with the wall, sounds of shattering and cracking sheet rock, offered an echo about the room. A thin gulp of a guilty conscience escaped Rindou's mouth as he walked over to he origin of the noise and he gingerly put the tips of his fingers to the spot to see if he could feel the extent of the damage.

A very unhappy frown grew on his face as his fingers traced the spidery cracks that seemed to be spreading, and Rindou very nearly cleared out from his skin when one of thee pictures that he knew to hang on the wall came clattering down. It took him a moment or two before his feet met the ground once more and his hands resumed the touching; he was eager to find where the cracks stopped. He was rewarded when the small splits stopped a few inches later under his fingers and he shook his head in frustration as he tried to figure the size. Being unable to see made judging how large this crack was all that much harder, and he had to feel over it several times, though finally he got the idea when he simply floated up sideways and used his own body to measure. The scene of the crime was about a leg's length longer than he was and didn't seem to be danger of spreading any more, but Rindou was very much at a loss for what to do about it. Jarett would be home soon (he's stepped out for groceries or something, Rindou couldn't remember) and once he saw the crack Rindou knew that life for him would be over. Temporarily anyway.

Instead of worrying about it like a normal or sane person would the Dustling was instead far more concerned and curious about why the ball was suspended in the air like it had been. Nothing he'd ever thrown or tossed before actually ever stayed levitating like he could, so Rindou's hands left the crack and he looked for the massive round ball he'd smashed into the wall. surely the answer to his questions lie within the hard object, but to his disappointment when he found it nothing seemed to be different. . . except that it was lighter than he remembered. The stone orb didn't feel like it was broken so it couldn't be lighter because of that, yet still it almost floated out of his hands as he moved it around. It was then that he realized it actually was floating out of his hands and a weird sound of delight gurgled from him as he moved his arms away, listening for the tell-tell sound of a drop. Just as before nothing happened, the ball was in the same spot as where he'd left it when he pulled his hands away, and Rindou smacked it just to see if it could move. It did, right into the wall again, but this time Rindou didn't care about the damage. He'd discovered something amazing about himself. If the ball was lighter and floating, maybe he caused it? Could he do it with other things?

Anything that was within his reach was soon in his grasp, yet nothing floated like the ball. They always tumbled to the ground, leaving Rindou to curse at something that was clearly not his fault. The pile of broken dishes (he'd moved into the kitchen) beneath his feet continued to grow as he refused to give up, and right when he was about to drop on of Jarett's heirloom teapots a thought occurred to him. It wasn't a thought that Jarett was going to flay him alive over all this damage, but rather one that hopefully helped connect the dots. Maybe...just maybe...he had to hold the object in his hands and wish for it to float. He had been complaining about the weight of the stone ball before it got all light and floaty, so maybe that really was the trick behind it. Figuring that anything was worth a try (at least once) at this point in time he closed his eyes and wished for hard for the teapot to stay floating.

It didn't, and its shattering on the floor only soured the Gravity child even more.

With a stomp of his foot he intended to leave into the air but the clank of glass shards hitting against one another stopped him dead in his tracks. He could feel the slivers in the air all around him, the massive pile somehow now off the ground. How it happened was well beyond Rindou's grasp of ideas; all he could do was float around with his mouth gaping open. Maybe if he didn't think about it then it would work? It didn't make any sense at all, not that he expected it to, but he didn't care. somehow or another he'd gotten things to float around him and what was really weird was that he could feel them - or something like that. It was the same with the ball after he'd kicked it, but none of this was adding up to anything he understood. Rindou certainly would need to practice breaking things more if he wanted to be perfect, and thankfully there were a lot of things he this house he could shatter. That took care of that problem for now, but the real issue lay with Jarett. . . whom would be home any minute. With food. And anger.

Rindou probably should have started to clean everything up as soon as he heard the door but by then it was already way too late. The damage had been done and he was standing in the thick of it, all smiles and floating glass shards.

5 Senses
(Child --> Teen*)

Rindou is a very peculiar child. Refusing his sense of sight he blindly stumbles on his way, raising his voice to communicate with others because he doesn't know where they are. Using his sense of touch is one way he can get around and by feeling others he can have a sense of familiarity with them. One day as he wakes up he finds himself alone and something unfamiliar has happened to him. More of his senses are lost. He cannot smell ---because he has a cold. And for some reason his ears are blocked, making him hear less. How will the child react to this and will it change anything he will do in the days that come?

*Please note, there's a minimum word requirement of 700 words for this quest.

It felt at first like he was in a void - unable to see, unable to hear. The seeing was nothing different for him, not since the accident that had taken one of his eyes, and the usual darkness that came from behind the blinder he wore only seemed to have grown darker with that loss. Shifting his legs in what he thought to be his bed he couldn't hear the familiar rustle that let him know he was nearing the edge and thus he toppled out and to the ground, letting out a cry that went unheard in his ears. He could feel the vibrations in his throat however, and the pain from where his face had contacted with the carpet that was the floor, so he wasn't dead like he'd initially thought. A bit extreme for a child, yes, but lately Rindou's ideas were darker than everything he'd been seeing lately. Even Jarett had mentioned once or twice that the boy was getting rather macabre, though it didn't hurt that he was growing more serious in the process. However now was not the time for such thoughts as Rindou pushed himself up and to his feet, his hands able to feel the cold of the wooden floor and the wool of the braided rug.

He dusted himself off as he stood upright, though as soon as his hands dropped to this side he found himself swaying uneasily. An effort to propel himself into the air was made thought it was met with extreme failure, his body unable to lift itself even an inch from the ground, and an expression of pure horror and terror crossed Rindou's face. He could handle not hearing - the house was unusually quiet either, but being unable to float?! That was...it was so natural to him, why couldn't he do it any longer? His body crumpled again to the ground though not nearly as hard as the last time, and he gingerly tried to feel his way back up to his feet only to topple backwards and catch his head on the edge of his bed. Another cry escaped his lips and several tears welled from his eyes; he could feel them down his cheek and he could feel the wet on the back of his head, yet why could he not smell the salty smell from his face or the coppery smell from the "blood" (Jarett told him the nasty red was called blood - Rindou remembered that) that was surely on the back of his head?

Was there something wrong with his nose now too? The Dustling rubbed his hand under his nose several times in an effort to get himself to sneeze, hoping maybe that would make his smell come back (it usually worked before!), but instead of getting a smell he couldn't even hear himself sneeze when the motion actually occurred. The smell didn't return but something gross and wet clung top his lips and chin like a bad object, and believe it or not he could taste the salt and copper and snot! That thought made Rindou happy, he wasn't entirely
ALL BLIND as he was starting to call his current state, and he knew if he could at least touch stuff and taste stuff he could maybe get by until Jarett got home and fixed him. Jarett could fix everything or so Rindou believed, though Jarett couldn't fix his eye. Rindou remembered how the man had been crying and crying and Rindou had been crying too, though he couldn't remember why any more. He'd never used his eyes to begin with so he wasn't at a loss and for a while without his eyes he'd been able to float better.

None of that mattered now though as Rindou managed to get back on his feet, swaying the entire time yet still somehow not falling over onto anything, and he reached his hands out for the walls around him. Part of his body ached to get him into the sky, to get him back in the air where he belonged and not on the heavy ground, though he did find it odd that he couldn't make himself heavier either. That had been his second action once he found he couldn't float, but for some reason since he couldn't hear his weight wasn't in his control. Little did Rindou know that it had to do with balance and the fact that he was deaf, seeing as his equilibrium was entirely off, but for the most part walking around three senses down was still quite a talent. Well....not entirely three down, mostly just two. Rindou could always take his blinder off and look to see what was going on, look to see if his body was being stopped in some way, but the Dustling doubted he'd even know his own reflection. Before the blinder he'd never looked in a mirror - Jarett didn't own any. The most important thing for him to do was get into the kitchen and get himself fed, he was being practical for once, and maybe from there he could think on what to do. Panicking wasn't an option that Rindou even remotely considered since he was still alive and breathing.

Finally reaching the kitchen and having knocked over several tables and whatever else along the way, Rindou felt around for one of the cabinets that would allow him to gain access to a source of food. Finding all of them to be locked, and knowing that Jarett liked to stack things out of his reach he tried to find something to work as a footstool. Normally he would have simply floated up and bipassed Jarett's useless attempts, but seeing as he couldn't then he would have to act like a normal child and climb up. It was easy enough, or should have been easy enough with his feet on a door and then on a cabinet, but without being able to see or hear he couldn't figure out whre he was exactly and soon he hit the kitchen floor. Hard.

When Rindou awoke he wasn't aware of anything except for the hollow sound of throbbing in the back of his head and the cold tile that greeted his cheek. Jarett was not home yet, the house was still empty (not that he'd know) and how long had passed was still up for debate. Rindou tried to push himself into a sitting position only to cry out in pain as his body protested the movements. How was it that he could feel so vividly? Was it because nothing else was working? He could taste copper in his mouth - had he bitten his tongue in the fall or was his nose bleeding? Without being able to smell he didn't know, without being able to hear he didn't know. Slowly a feeling of terror began to creep over his spine like an icy hand, and mustering what little movement he could Rindou pulled himself into a fetal ball, his knees resting under his chin as the throbbing ached more and he could hear his pulse in his ears.

Rindou was scared, and he wanted Jarett - yet how would he even know if his calls could reach him? He couldn't hear his own voice when he cried in pain, how would he hear it yelling for another? With a whimper of defeat as panic set in, the Gravity Dustling tried to focus on whatever comforting thoughts that he could, trying to get through this until Jarett got home.
