"Alla Ike's best friends can fly," Ike grunted as he forced his way up the tree like a squirrel. He perched himself on a branch quite a bit higher than the first a while later.
"Ike not so special."
He crouched as if he was about to start sprinting and launched himself off of the branch, spreading his arms wide and putting his legs and tail out straight behind him. He flew forward for a while before plummeting straight down into the invisible force.
"Mummy say Ike not s'posta climb trees yet," he giggled.

Repeating the process as Ike spoke, Lenore remained on the invisible Something, seeming to hover in midair. She regarded him with fondness, shaking her head in disagreement.
"Not special? Dude, how many other vampire albino squirrel kids are there in the world? So what if I can fly? Pract'ly like half the world can fly. That's not special at all."
Standing again and modestly adjusting her twisted clothes, She regarded her folded wings with something almost like annoyance.
" 'Sides, you don't have to worry about how you're gonna get a shirt on every morning without tearing it to shreds," she added lightly, beginning to climb again.

"That make Ike weird, nah special," Ike laughed as he again began to climb, "'N lotsa peoples can't fly." He thought as he kept pace with Len.
"Ike hafta cut holes in his pants...'n Ike's fur itches when Ike wears clothes."
He again launched himself from a branch and hovered above the ground for a while. He squinched his eyes shut when he found himself peering directly at the sun and turned quickly away.

Lenore shrugged and threw herself off the bough, the wind whipping her face and making her eyes sting a little.
"You're not weird to me. Iffen anyone calls you weird, I'll cut out their livers."
Landing awkwardly and turning a handspring to right herself again, Lenore lay on the needle-softened ground and looked up through the gnarled branches at a thin bit of sky. It was hard to remember that outside the woods it was bitterly cold and snowy. Unfolding her wings and pillowing her arms under her head, Lenore looked over at Ike.
"We're a whole lot more interestin' than any silly human. You've got the coolest eyes in the history of forever, and me...well..." she trailed off, thinking hard. "Well, I've got knives growin' out of me. Weird nothin' - we could take over the freakin' world if we wanted to."

"Pointy doom," Ike looked to Len, "Leem said that if Ike n' Len ever made a team, th' world would be in fer pointy doom." At the mention of his eyes, he grumbled.
"Now they blue too. Ike dun'n't like blue."
His perfectly awesome red eyes had grown a light blue ring around the outside, all thanks to the Big Evil Guy. Even worse, Evil Julian continued to have said red eyes, so he would be constantly reminded of what he'd lost until he found a way to get rid of Evil Julian.
"Hmph."

Lenore laughed, a sinister smile playing on her face.
"Pointy doom of painful death and gouging, even," she said, thinking on the amusing possibilities. Quirking an eyebrow, she shrugged.
"I like blue." She said, then paused to look over. Why hadn't she noticed it earlier?
"Why are they blue?"

Ike huffed, scaled the tree, and took a seat on a low, thick branch before speaking.
"Somethin' bad happened," he said, trying to be gorrifically vague, as instructed, "Alittle bit uh someone else soul got into Ike. Ike's eyes change."
She's cute.
"Shut up."

Lenore was about to ask how someone else's soul could have gotten in him when Ike snapped at her, apparently. Her face immediately shuttered into a displeased expression, and her words were cross.
"Jeez. It was just a bloody question, sor-ry." she said. "Don't need to tell me to shut up if you don't wana talk about it."
Standing stiffly, more hurt than offended, she shrugged indifferently.
"Guess I'd better go - Mum and Julian'll prolly be home soon."

"Uh-uh," Ike dropped to the ground and grabbed Len's arm, "Ike wan'n't tellin' Len to shut up. He was tellin'...uhm...the big-evil-guy-voice. He's in Ike's head." He just then realized how crazy he sounded.
He visibly twitched at the mention of him. Whether 'he' was Julian or William, Ike wasn't quite sure.

The cross look was replaced by an incredulous one. Was he just making an excuse to weasel out of trouble? But then, those eyes...
"Julian said somethin' bout rippin' out a guy's tongue the other day. I thought he was joking. That guy...he's in you?"
She pulled her arm away quicker than she'd meant to, but couldn't help but feel a little unsettled. She'd heard Mum and Julian talking when they thought she'd gone to sleep - it had been a very, very gory conversation.
"I....I, uh. Well. Huh. That's kinda....hmm."
She'd been around Julian long enough to get used to possessed people, but this was a little much. Len looked Ike up and down carefully before voicing her thoughts.
"He hasn't told you to hurt anyone, has he?"

"Oh...yuh," Ike shuddered, although not quite for the reasons one would expect from a toddler, "Julian poked out his eyes n' pulled out his tongue...he just...wuddn't stop screamin' 'nd Mummy went crazy 'nd Leem changed 'nd...no. No. he hasn't told Ike to hurt nobody. He dun'n't talk lots, just when he wants Ike to do sum'm Ike kinda wantsta do, but when Ike knows iss wrong."
The little boy was fairly hurt by the fact that his friend pulled away so quickly, and was therefore rambling like an idiot. Was he really that frightening now?

Despite her love and easy tolerance for the dark and disturbing, Lenore felt deeply sickened.
"Ah, Gods... that's....horrible. I know he's sick, but...ugh..."
Shaking her head and trying to ignore the rising gorge that made her mouth water awfully, Lenore sat down against the tree again.
"M'sorry, Bah. I ain't scared of you - promise. It's just a lil' odd, that's all."
Trying not to picture Julian cheerfully ripping out body parts, she felt another sickly wave of nausea as she looked up at Ike. Whatever, whoever was in him now would likely not be pleased to be living in the same place as his torturer.
"He hasn't said anythin' about goin' after Mum or Julian, has he?"
Knowing that Ike wasn't particularly fond of Julian, Lenore thought it a reasonable question to ask.

Ike gave Lenore a sympathetic pat on the shoulder, smiling slightly at her reassurence. The systematic removal of important body parts had no effect on him. Suddenly, though, his eyes grew wild. His smiled faded, but soon flickered back.
"He has. Julian, anyway," he murmured, still smiling eerily. His accent had suddenly and inexplicably turned British.

Lenore realized fairly quickly she wasn't feeling sick entirely over Julian's actions. She regarded Ike or whoever it was icily, mouth thinning and eyes boring into him with cold warning.
"I told ya before it ain't his fault he's sick like that. You leave him alone, or I'll never talk to you again. Ever."
The painful symptoms of her oversensitivity to malevolence weren't as bad as usual - perhaps because there was so little evil there. But it was enough to put her on guard. Standing and wincing at the roiling in her stomach, she rattled her razor feathers slightly to get her point across.
"You're my buddy, but I'll protect my family and I won't go easy on nobody, zombies or whatever."

Ike's eyes went wide for a moment, and he folded his ears back. it didn't take him long to fully understand what Len was saying.
"Of course," Ike said, his accent slowly blending back to its usual state, "If Ike do's anything, Len's gotsta stop him no matter what, kay?"
He would have to learn how to control William, and quick. Len was sharp in more ways than one, and going after anyone would probably mean a quick exanguanation.
That, and he knew by now that it was no use trying to explain why he disliked Julian. It was hard...no...impossible to do as such.
