Anna-sar heading toward the location of Lake Jeburen after hearing the signal. She had gone a few days on only roots and water and didn't feel like robbing somebody for the money to buy food. She might as well go to the location of the signal and hope that there was a reward, or at least free food after the destruction.

As she came within sight of the city Anna-sar could see at least one firebird attacking.

"Damn it!" she moaned to herelf. "Why did it have to be a Firebird, not only am i tired, worn out, and hungry, but i don't have the means to fight them."

Touching the hilts of her two broad swords strapped to her horses saddle she got an idea. She didn't have to kill one, she just had to ride into town, find somebody that could and would. Protect them from the ground as they used magic or whatever they used to kill the bird, and then claim part of the reward. Then again, that would require here to talk to one of them.

Looking at her horse, Starblaze, grazing as she sat there pondering, she though. Dammit, my horse is eating better then me right now. Kickin her horse into a gallap she heading toward the city.

As she neared the city Anna-sar slowed hoping one of the Firebirds didn't notice her before she found another adventurer to kill the bird for her. Just to be on the safe side, Anna-sar loosened her blades in their sheaths. Dismounting from her horse she walked toward the town hoping not to be seen.

She was almost to the gate, all she had to do...

Anna-sar failed dodge completely in time as the Firebird hit her in the left side with a blast of fire. Rolling to put out the flames Anna-sar realized that er horse had run off with her broad sword. Standing up and dodging the next blast of fire, Annas-sar noticed that the Firebird looked like a normal, but large bird. Drawing her horse dagger that her father had given her, she sheathed it in disgust. How the hell was she to kill a Firebird with a knife. The Firebird instead of blowing a blast of fire from above came down into a horizontal path toward her as it readied another blast.

Getting into a raider's ready postition to mount a running horse Anna-sar waited for the Firebird to get closer. As the Firebird released a burst of fire, Anna-sar moved to one side and grabbed the feathers. Swinging to the right Anna-sar winced as she almost let loos with her left hand and was now riding the Firebird. With her left hand she drew her horse dagger and stabbed the Firebird i the heart.

Only then did she realize that the Firebird had taken an upward path. As they fell all she could think about was how she hoped she didn't hit the ground first.

With a sickening cruch, they hit the ground just outside the gate of the city on the west.

Andrea blinked at the woman. She wondered briefly why the warrior wasn't outside helping in a warrior's fashion. To each their own, though; it's better than having yet another reward crazed adventurer running around smacking around the Birds.

Well, there was plenty of help to be had at the shelter, anyway. "Actually, yes, we could use your help. A slight complication has arisen, and this whole situation may last longer than any of us expected. We will need firewood, as well as many other materials. You can surely help with the firewood. Please talk to Jude about that.

"Jude is the head of the Shelter in peaceful times and our current main coordinator. She is in the room behind me. Come to me after you are done helping her."

Meanwhile, near the entrance, a young aide rushed up to help Cillone. "Ah! You must be one of the adventurers helping the city!" The young man, tired but cheerful, smiled at the wounded adventure. "My name is Samuel. Come right this way. Healing is best in a quieter place."

Samuel led Cillone to a smaller room to the far left of the entrance. There in the room was another young man, sound asleep in the bed. Samuel closed the door quietly. "Please sit down." The slender healer pulled out a couple of baskets of herbs and started sifting through them. "So, what is your name, miss?"

Cillone looked around nervously. "Cillone... " She winced a little as she showed Samuel her left arm. The skin was torn from her shoulder to her elbow down the back. "So how long is this going to take? I'm not very familiar with the process. And I'd like to try and get back out into the action."

She was lost for a moment in the thoughts of how to better combat the birds. "I'm not really from this area though, has this happened before?"

Samuel nodded at her name as he pulled out a few herbs, some of which certain herbologists would recognize as enchanted witchhazel, plump arvenhandle, and mountain mint sprigs. He took some unidentifiable powder, which was really just salt mixed with ground mint to hide its smell, and laid it out on a large leaf on the table. "It should only take a couple minutes, miss."

He took a vial of water from a bag that seemed permanently attached to his waist and dribbled it over the mixture, then took some of the herbs and laid them on top of the whole mess. "No, not at all. I'm not an expert in zoology, but if I recall correctly Firebirds only hang out near volcanoes. I've never heard of so many of them gathering anywhere else, much less a large lake city like this." He folded the large leaf in half onto her shoulder, then closed his eyes. A green, leaf shaped ornamental clasp on his bag started to glow as he healed the adventurer. He smiled. "Almost done."

A few seconds later he removed the leaf, which was not empty and dry as if he had never done anything to it. He unhooked the conduit on his bag and put the leaf in the bag, then stood up. "All done. You can go now if you wish, but please be careful." He then walked her out the door and to the entrance of the Shelter. "Good luck!"

Rey sat on his bed in his house waiting for the firebird attack to die down. he closed his eyes trying to look patient . one of his eyes twitched " the on dayi get off and firebirds decide to rampage very few things i can do about it" he got off his bed strapped on his sword and kicked his door open. he looked around but didn't see anything but some people fighting , citizens running around frantically and several firebirds "looks like all of the birds are busy nows my chance" Rey ran for the shelter as fast as his legs could carry him "ah finally made"
