David's rough shaking and shouting kept her from screaming again herself and her hematite eyes locked with his steel blues. For the first time since she'd meet him, Ebony's guard was truly down in that moment with all the fear and worry she projected directly on her face for all to see. Somewhere on his face she saw it too and it only served to make her grim and feel hopeless. Would she lose her Raevan so soon after gaining her? Or would Prajna...
She followed David's horrified gaze then and found the two torsos rolling around looking to gorge one another's eyes out. How would they stop them? The Brit felt herself pushed backwards and she watched as the Asian male went storming up to the fighting duo. "David no!" she cried running after him. What if he got hurt? She'd been careless last time to not think of others, but this time...she couldn't let that happen.
This thing was slippery! Every time Delia thought she had it, Prajna took off again to the side. It had tried swiping her several times before, but this was the first time it actually landed. The Basilisk hissed loudly and desperately rubbed at her face due to the cold feeling that had cut right through her fevered state. In anger and frustration, she tried to take a swing out at the Star, but missed. The cold was far too distracting as it spread like butter over her.
Suddenly the dark mark on her neck stuttered in its wake of driving up her temperature and throbbing with pain. And as soon as that had stopped, Delia felt that great deal of warmth just whoosh right out of her. It left her so cold again that the girl just collapsed on the ground, black wings twitching slightly. Her rune flickered, but never gave any signs of being snuffed out. The girl was just out cold was all, no pun intended.

David had run up just in time to wrap his thick arms around Prajna's quivering shoulders, preventing another attack, albeit a few seconds too late as the first and last icy blow had already been directly delivered to the Basilisk Frei. Prajna let out a final agonized scream, its chest heaving before it too felt its body begin to give way. The heat of David's body was just too..tempting. Now it was David's turn to shiver as he fought the urge to let go of his charge, the oddest sensation coursing through his chest. It was as if the heat was being ..sucked out of his body, leaving small areas like marble, cold but touchable. He began to wonder if this was what Prajna's increasing number of opponents felt. He was glad he had never experienced this beforehand.
Prajna seemed to follow Cordelia's lead as it rolled its eyes into the back of its head and became weak in David's arms. This battle had not used as much energy as the one with Varun, physically, but something about the snake had made this extremely difficult on the star mentally. Perhaps it was her lack of verbal response. Besides the snarls and hisses, Prajna didn't really get to use its taunts as well as it had with other fighters. There was only so much one could say to a hiss. Prajna felt another shiver run up its half-spine and neck and David was forced to let it go, the draining sensation becoming too much for him, "Prajna..are you..ok? ...Is Cordelia ok? What did you do to her?"
David's sapphire eyes glanced over the Basilisk, a part of him concerned with her well being and a part of him disappointed that she wasn't able to put Prajna in its place. Prajna tried to regain consciousness but just rolled over on the ground, its rune flickering sporadically, an unfamiliar warmth playing around the edges of its ribbon now.. What a peculiar feeling. No matter, Prajna thought as it pushed the foreign sensation away, assuming it was because it had just absorbed David's heat, "Cordelia..Prajna win, David. Win."
And with that, Prajna passed out, feeling extremely tired now as a disgusting heat flushed over its body.

"Cordelia!" Ebony's voice rang with maternal horror and concern for her ward as she collapsed by her twitching black side. She clasped the unconscious girl's hand tight in her own, a sliver of a shiver sliding down her arm at the touch of the coldness. She'd never felt Cordelia this cold before and it sent the Brit's heart beating painfully. Was she...
The Basilisk stirred slight at the warm touch and instinctively drew closer, laying her head in the warm lap of her guardian. She sighed and fell back under the darkness again. Ebony on the other hand let loose a shaky breath and gently smoothed the onyx mess of her hair. "Thank goodness. I thought..." She didn't allow the idea to cross her lips as it was hard enough for her to think it.
Looking to David, "I'm so sorry David. I-I don't know what happened. I-is Prajna okay?" The earlier thoughts of the virus they'd encountered with Lazarus had pretty much fled her mind in lieu of worrying about the continuing existence of their Raevans. If anything had happened to either of them, she would never be able to forgive herself. And that's when she frowned at him, worried for yet one more. "Are you okay?"

"Are you okay?"
David's expression was crestfallen for a few moments as he inhaled slowly, taking those few seconds to recompose himself. He closed his eyes. He opened them. Then the man's dark azures looked up to meet Ebony's silvery ones, a bitter smile on his features now. How did the night end up like this?
"I'm fine Ebony. But please, don't feel like any of this is your fault. I.. I don't know what happened either but I'm... so sorry about what has occurred here tonight.." David began as he took a quick moment to glance around. Some of the couples were staring, absolute horror on their faces, but the majority had already reached the announcement circle, too caught up in the events to notice the fighting. Thank goodness. David's gaze flickered back to the unconscious Freis, though his features gave away little to his true thoughts. "I think the only way I will be able to make any of this up to you is if we can call this a night. Also, it would be in our Freis' best interest if we don't see one another. Not for a long while Ebony."
Towards the end, though the man had managed to deliver his decision without pause, his voice had shaken just a bit. David hated showing any sign of weakness and now, he was certain, was definitely not the best time. He had to have some kind of logic with him in such critical moments. Just like when he was working with the local animals of Durem. He had to keep a level head. A more tender side slowly crept up as David allowed his hand to smooth some of Prajna's frayed hair, though he made sure not to come in contact with the flame's skin. That sensation... David would have to make sure Namini knew of it the minute he got home.

When he said that last part, Ebony could feel that she had indeed allowed herself to hope just a little tonight. And now she was proven it was a big mistake to allow yourself to hope like that. You were always, always disappointed in the end. She took a brief moment to look at Cordelia, her face a look of heart breaking softness before she threw it to waste and brought back her hard indifference. It was the only way she could keep from crying now in front of him. She wouldn't give him the satisfaction. If he didn't want to see her, well then he wouldn't have to.
"Of course. Our business is done. Please return my regards to Namini and take care of Prajna." Ebony replied as she picked up Delia. Thank goodness the snake was near weightless due to the nature of her kind at this stage. "I'll...see you around."
