i do understand, and can't realy deny it... still, i do think that alot of the strays around here are doing just fine, and it realy just depends on the environment and all that. not all pets need to be neutered and spayed.

...as the wind whistled past it whispered in your ears... 'Tis true, 'tis true. All animals were originally wild after all and even the most domesticated of animals still retain enough natural instincts to survive, even if it's just barely. But it's not just their survival, they become pests and competition. ...And then the strays breed... and eventually there are so many that they don't have enough food... and then suddenly you'll have millions of cats raiding your homes in search of food -world domination by cats- o.o; But just because they are mostly doing fine... doesn't mean anyone should add to their numbers. They need homes, someone to care for them and love them. And yeah, it's definitely true that not all pets need to be neutered and spayed... my rats were never spayed, cuz if they were, I'd never have gotten my litter... and I need my litter... I need it for my sanity <<;

We used to take on a lot of strays back on the farm. People would abandon their pets in the country. We'd get the toms neutered to prevent fights. Its a safety precaution, really, considering that with so many cats, raccoons, opossums, skunks, and coyotes around, the risk for rabies is higher than in the city.
I do have to agree, tho, that if you're not a breeder, you need to have your animals fixed. Not fixing an animal and not breeding it actually increases a lot of health risks, especially for females. Usually it's the safest way to go for everyone concerned.

...as the wind whistled past it whispered in your ears... Too true. Having a litter can be extremely hard on a female. It is dangerous, stressful and tiring, quite often it can permanently change their personality. It's also not unusual for them to run off so you lose them forever.

Well the female we had when I was a wee lad, an adopted stray, got prego the had her litter. Was interesting as I saw her give birth and was probably 7 or so at the time. Anyways, all was well then later she got prego again. This time not so good... she was quite different and then she took off one day, and we didn't find her again till weeks later. She had died while trying to give birth in the woods during the winter.

...as the wind whistled past it whispered in your ears... @Twi - Mm, I can respect that to a degree. I don't really like how, when it comes to pets, everything is so often controlled to the point that the creature doesn't even have a spark of wildness at all. To take out every bit of wildness in a creature is just diminishing their very existence and freedom... but I realize that at certain points, you have to step in and take control. You'd never let a dog attack another person, even if it is their 'wild nature,' you step in and take control. You would eliminate that wild behavior or at least suppress it. The same can be said with a pig, you'd never let it dig up your garden, now would you..? Just like those examples, I don't believe you should let let any pet get pregnant, unless you can take control, unless you can suppress their wild nature so that they don't hurt you, themselves, or their babies. But if you let them get pregnant, and then you really can't control everything... like you can't make sure that your animal stays safe, or you can't make sure that they are extremely well nourished, or you can't find every last single baby a home... then that is just irresponsible. And holy crap..! Look how much s**t I just wrote o.o;
@Chronos - That's very sad to hear, but not unusual. Cats are very territorial creatures and can be extremely protective of their litters, even to and irrational extent like your cat. Personality changes aren't highly unusual either... it can happen very suddenly, one day they could be as happy as ever and the next they could be berserk..! But it is usually centred around a pregnancy.

i am aware of what you mean, i just have ... lighter.... guiding touches, then other people do. like, whether i'd tell a guard dog off depends on whether i give a s**t or not. xd but anyone comes near my cats i will get ******** nasty. evil nobody lays a hand on my cats! i have threatened calling animal control on my neighbor's guard dogs for so much as barking at my kitties. cause i HAVE seen them get nasty, i have picture proof... >.> she don't have witnesses, so... playing dirty, true. but i never was a dog person, and i don't like certain people... she's one of them.

...as the wind whistled past it whispered in your ears... Animals are thick, light, guiding touches often have little to no effect xd But even though I said that... I'm often like that too... ;>> Minus pregnancy, cuz that's extremely, extremely serious to me and needs to be controlled properly. Aww, I like dogs... but then again, I'm an animal fanatic, so I like almost every animal. But still, I'd more suggest that the dogs be trained instead of being sent off. And anyway, it's not really the dogs' fault if your cat is on their property, they are just being protective. Other way round, however, then of course it's a problem.

well that aint the case at all... >.> we have been here for years. this woman moves here and brings her guard dogs with her. i told her straight up she don't need those around my cats and my little sister, if she feels she needs to have security animals, she should be living in a ******** gated community, and if she don't leash her muts or pick her a** up and get out of my neighborhood i'll call animal control and show them th epics i have the attack.
.... she moved. =w=

Oooh, so she didn't leash them, then. That is very inconsiderate and irresponsible then.
Haha, lucky you xd

it's a term for a neighborhood behind a wall that you have to go through a checkpoint to get into. good place for security nuts to live, and where old farts can go to hide from the scarey world full of evil teenagers, cause we're all such natural criminals, ya know? =w= heh... stupid old grumps... don't get me wrong, i like old folks. i just don't like the grouchy ones. >.>
