Even as a leaf, my feien is making me more sociable. I have acquired yet another pet - a lovely Irish Bog Cat by the name of Cosnads. Her name means "guardian" - as I hope she will be to my feien. Already she sits on the warm window ledge amongst the herbs, watching it through half-lidded eyes. She can talk, and she informed me so quite acidly. However, she seems much more sedate than Itztli; something I was quite relieved over.

I have been reading aloud to the leaf recently, Shakespeare mostly. We're currently going through "The Taming of the Shrew" and it seems to enjoy Shakespeare's use of words with double meanings most. Even Nai seemed to enjoy it, purring softly as I read through the scene where Kate and Petruchio first meet. I am starting to enjoy having company - even Itztli's, silly though he may be. Cosnads made it quite clear that he was not to try to chase her tail - a quick swipe to the nose was shockingly efficient! I put some bactine on the little red slices in his nose, and he seems to be feeling somewhat better, but I imagine his pride was injured far worse than the scratches hurt. I suppose it's good for him to have someone to knock him down a peg or two every so often. Let's just hope that doesn't come out literal!

I am intrigued by a mention in the shop of genetic coding - I think I may request my leaf's, and try to puzzle it out. Maybe I'll know what he or she will look like before they even get here! That would be funny. Aah, but I ramble, and the hour grows late. Nai is giving me a look that I can tell means "Go to bed so I can nest on your covers." So I bid you adieu, journal, till next we meet.

Cosnaídís, the leaf, and I went fishing again this evening for our supper - my little Bog Cat seems to enjoy spreading her good luck to my ability to catch fish, so we dined quite well. This is, however, the third night straight of fish, so I may have to put my foot down and try to resist those big Bambi-eyes she turns on me when she asks what we're having for dinner. Something tells me I shall have little luck, however.

Itztli has been spending more and more time away from the house at the Neutral Zone, where the other Surlares meet. I think the arrival of Cosnaídís (and her rather adamant refusal to his playful advances) has put him off a bit; I'll have to see if I can't reconcile that before he gets to be too much of a loner.

We have finished The Taming of the Shrew and are now working on reading through A Midsummer Night's Dream, which I think they enjoy. They seem to prefer his comedies over his tragedies - and who wouldn't? Tragedies are just that - tragic. No use going to a play to feel bad at the end, I say. But that's just me.

I have asked for the leaf's genetic code at the shop; I hope it will arrive soon. Even if it doesn't, however, it will still be fun to compare it to other feien's and try to decipher it. Perhaps my own feien will take an interest in science. Who knows?

Speaking of the shop, when I stopped in to deliver my request for the genetic code, I noticed a flyer on the board for a party tomorrow to meet the new Feien Staff. It sounds like a good way for my feien to meet others, even in the leaf stage. I must admit I'm extremely nervous - I hope there aren't *too* many people there. I might take Nai along, to keep me company and help keep me calm. I think I'm getting better about shyness, but... it doesn't do to tempt fate. I'll be sure to work very hard at being calm, cool, and collected... and I'll even try to keep my tail from between my legs. Maybe Rynn will be there, so I at least have one friendly face to tag around with... Blah. I don't know. Only tomorrow will tell.

I have continued playing music for it; we have listened to most of the more renowned composers, so we are moving on to the lesser known now. Tonight's CD is of Modest Mussorgsky, a rather good Russian composer.

Mar 20, 2005:

The past week after the party has been fairly quiet, not much to say ---

*random line-squiggle as Sevvie drops the pen*

It happened! It finally happened!! The leaf began to glow with this bright blue light, so naturally I went to go see what was going on...

Emergence of a Feien

"Sevvie, I think you may wish to come look," Cosnaidis called from the kitchen. He dropped his pen, pushing his chair back and hurrying over to the door, halting in awe.

Inside the terrarium, the leaf was glowing with a bright blue light. "Is it... emerging?" he asked with hushed excitement.

"I believe it is," she replied, purring as the top of the leaf began to peel back like covers being pushed off a bed. A tiny, slender hand appeared, then an arm...

"Hey what's going on?" Itztli called from the door, having just got home. The other two's rapt silence and the blue light quickly informed him and he joined them in watching.

After a minute or so, their patience was rewarded. A small, blue-marked, bat-winged feien stood before them, blinking his bright blue eyes up at them. "Hello," he said quietly. "You must be Sevvie," he added, looking up at the quarter-wolf daemon.

"I am," Sevvie replied, almost too choked up to answer. "And, if you like the name... You are Aleksander."

The feien seemed to think about it for a moment, then nodded. "I heard you say that before, when the others were visiting," he said. "I like it."

Itztli grinned. "It's good ya do, kid, coz he ain't so good at picking out normal names otherwise," he put in. The newly named Aleksander's eyes merely danced in amusement, Sevvie thwacked the Surlare lightly on the shoulder, and Cosnaidis rolled her eyes before hopping off the counter to go eat. Itztli headed off to bed, and Sevvie and Alek worked to make him a better bed than the grass in the terrarium - and maybe figure out his element while they were at it.

Mar 21, 2005:

Post-Emergence Ponderings

"Aannd, there," Sevvie pronounced, finishing tying up a small hammock he'd rigged out of a dishtowel. Last night Alek had slept in his terrarium with washcloths for blankets, but tonight he'd get an actual bed. It was hung across the kitchen window, over his miniature herb garden. He paused to regard his feien. "But you're sure you're not plant element?"

Alek nodded, almost sadly. It would have been nice if he'd been either plant or water, because that's what they'd expected he'd be and that would have been easy to test for. But Alek didn't have any particular fondness for water or plants - he liked the plants well enough, they made him happy... But it was the same sort of liking he felt for Itztli and Cosnaidis.

"Well, that's alright. We'll figure it out sooner or later. There's no rush, after all," Sevvie said encouragingly.

"I suppose," Alek said dubiously. "Yeah, you're right. I'll figure it out sometime."

"That's the spirit. And I'll leave your terrarium to the side over here for if you still want to hang out in it now and then. We can go shopping at some point to find things for it, if you like."

"Sounds good. And maybe I'll visit the feien shop tomorrow, to see if anybody there can help me out with my element."

"Not without me," Sevvie said, a bit alarmed at the idea of a day-old feien going out and about alone.

"Why not?" Alek asked, setting his jaw. He wanted to go, and see if anybody there knew anything!

"Because you can't fly very well," Sevvie said bluntly. It was true; the feien had tried stretching his wings and had had to land barely a minute or two afterwards. He hadn't felt tired, in the physical sense - just very drained. They had since concluded from the spells Sevvie'd copied from the Feien magic book that Alek's magical ability must be somewhat low, seeing as feien used magic to fly.

Alek huffed slightly. "I could run," he grumbled, feeling oddly childish as he said so. He was, however, very good at running - he had the speed and stamina for it, as they'd discovered while trying to find an alternative to flight.

"All the way to the shop? Alek, no. There are a lot of creatures bigger than you and I'm not going to risk your safety," Sevvie said firmly.

"I'll go with him," Cosnaidis piped up from her spot on a chair. "I can carry him easily."

"But you're still just a cat," Sevvie said.

"Yes, but I'm fast enough to get away from anything bigger than me," she pointed out. "Tell you what, if you let me and the kid go tomorrow, I promise I won't make us have fish again."

"Do it!!" called Itztli from the other room.

"Well, it seems I'm outnumbered," Sevvie said, deflating a bit. "At least you'll be safe with her. Promise you won't get into trouble?" He turned worried eyes on his feien, though he was somewhat glad he didn't have to go into the shop after all. There might be lots of people, and he still wasn't one for crowds.

"I promise," Alek said. He flew up to Sevvie's shoulder quickly, ignoring the slight weariness he felt from the effort. "I'll be careful." He gave the part-wolf daemon's ear a quick hug, then spread his wings and glided down to the hammock without using his magic very much. That seemed to be a more efficient way for him to travel without getting totally drained.

"All right then. I will trust you two," Sevvie said softly. "Good night Alek. Sleep well." He turned to go.

"Um, Sevvie?" called Alek from his hammock. He turned around.

"Yes?"

"Will you put one of your CDs in? I liked sleeping with the music running," Alek said, a touch shyly as he picked at the washcloth that was his blanket. Sevvie just smiled gently.

"Sure, Alek. Whatever you ask," he said, putting in one of his softer classical CDs and hitting play. "Sleep well."

"Thank you... You too," he called back, then nestled down into his hammock to sleep.

Mar 22, 2005:

Flying Solo - Well Almost

Sunil
Well, s**t. It had been a while since she had come into the shop and now that she finally had, no one was here. How the hell was she supposed to have her fun if there was no one to have it on?

Sunil halted in the middle of the floor with her face screwed up in her usual scowl, placing her hands on her hips in a posture she had found intimidated the pixapets. Not that they were the sort of prey she enjoyed, but beggars couldn't be choosers or however that stupid saying went.

She took a hand off one hip to run it irritably through her hair, flipping it out from in front of her eye. What to do? With no one here she was suddenly at a loss. Hissing to herself, she took to the air. If she couldn't pick on people maybe she could find a way to make a mess in the shop.

Kojak
There was something unsettling about being at home for the moment, something in general about the place that Kojak couldn't stand. Thankfully, it had nothing to do with the fact the new children were interested in seeing if they could catch him and tug on his wings.

... not that it had happen, but from the gleam in the fox-child's eye he thought it was being considered. ( And if it came to that, he'd do something first before he got nailed. ) Making his way into the shop, he came to a halt on the floor right past the door. It was good to get somewhere and be alone, considering there was hardly any chance for that where he had been.

Though, perhaps he should talk to Valsharess more than he did, but ... well. Sometimes, it wasn't worth trying to figure out just what females wanted. Sheesh. Head held high, he raised himself back up in the air and headed towards the message board to see if there was any news of late. It had been a while, after all, and for the moment -- if there was anybody around -- he didn't seem to care.

Sunil
Ah ha. Prey. A particularly funny looking specimen too.

Sunil cackled with glee and rubbed her rough hands together, before gliding her way over to the message board. Failing to slow her momentum, she put herself on a course to body slam the poor newcomer right into the board if he didn't notice and move. If he did, she was in a bit of a spot. It was just her sort of game.

Aleksander
Aleksander entered the shop, riding atop Cosnaidis's head. Sevvie had been most reluctant to let him leave the house with just the cat for company, but after Nai had put forth the point that a cat was much bigger than any feien, he wouldn't be in any trouble.

Besides, it wasn't like I could go anywhere alone, he thought with some chagrin. Sevvie had determined from the portions of the feien magic book he'd copied that flight distance was based on magic strength - and apparently, Alek's was very low.

Kojak
It was the cackling that really clued Kojak in. In fact, he had enough time to glance over his shoulder to see Sunil coming right for him before he tried to get out of the way.

Of course, it wasn't fast enough, because as he felt Sunil hit his arm and send him spinning towards the board anyway. He slid across the ground, bumping into it ( hard ), but had avoided getting completely body slammed.

"... just what are you doing?" he managed to grit out, dual colored eyes looking dazed for a moment.

Aleksander
Alek blinked slightly as he took in the scene taking place as he entered. What could they be fighting about, and if they weren't fighting, why did that blue feien just divebomb that other feien? Was this normal feien behaviour?? He held just slightly tighter onto Cosnaidis's fur.

Sunil
Since she only knocked her intended victim slightly, Sunil still slammed into the board as well. Winded, but on a total adrenaline high, Sunil giggled as she hovered and held onto her ribs with a free hand.

Knowing she probably looked completely insane, and ok with that persona, she took a couple breaths to calm down before looking over to Kojak.

"Me? I thought you were some sort of large bumblebee. Those nasty little bastards are a nuisance, so I figured I was doing the shop a favor. Who knew there was a ridiculous looking feien like you around."

Kojak
"I'm sorry, but a bumblebee?" Kojak pushed himself up with a hand, tail twitching for side to side slowly and somehow undamaged in the recent blow. He rubbed his hand against his back for a moment, thinking. This was one odd, odd female. He was seriously beginning to wonder about the sanity of those around here -- or maybe this one.

Wait a minute. She was the one he had seen earlier in the month, but he held his tongue on that. "Guess you don't know your bugs very well, because I'm not one. A little too big to be one." Kojak smiled, all too friendly and charming. Never let it be said that even injured, he had confidence in himself. "Besides, if you're going to call me ridiculous, take a look at yourself first." Miss I Look Way to Insane.

Aleksander
Alek wondered slightly if he should come back another time, but decided against it. He was here now, and dangit, he wasn't going to go home because there were weirdos in the shop. For all he knew, all feien could be either crazy or strange looking. Maybe he was one of the crazy ones then. Anyway. He decided to speak up on the reason he'd come in the first place.

"I don't mean to interrupt, but do either of you know of somebody who could help work with me on magic?" he called, hoping that Nai wasn't above swiping at Crazy Lady if she tried to divebomb him, too.

Sunil
"Me?" Sunil questioned, looking herself up and down slowly in mock confusion. "Really? I thought curves like this were what men preferred."

God only knew where she got this s**t.

Raising her eyebrows, Sunil made a point of looking Kojak up and down next. She even started to circle around him in the air to get a better look at his tail.

"Stinger?" she asked. "I though you weren't a bug."

Kojak
"Don't see any men trying to get at those curves right now," Kojak countered, standing up fully, and his tail twitching even more. His smile faded just a little into a smirk, eyes glinting.

It faltered only slightly when Sunil looked him over and he abruptly turned to face her as she commented on his tail. "Are you blind, sweets?" The last word said far too nicely. "It's a tail, not a stinger."

Biting his tongue, however, to stop other commentary, he turned to glance at the one asking about magic. "Ah," he started slowly, keeping a careful eye on Sunil, "I would suggest looking at the notices in regards to that or try posting your own notice about looking for someone." Kojak wasn't exactly strong when it came to magic, though he ... probably should start learning.

Sunil
Glancing to the new stranger for the first time, Sunil couldn't help but smirk.

"Magic, huh?" she said, actually trying not to scowl for once as she put her hands back into their usual spots on her hips. "I actually am quite good at magic and I might be willing to share. Depends on what you're willing to offer in exchange. Nothing is free. Especially not knowledge."

She decided to ignore the bumblebee. He wasn't as much fun as one might hope for, much to snippity. She'd love to teach him a lesson, but she had to keep in mind she didn't have the same skills she had once had.

Aleksander
"Really?" Alek said, brightening a bit. "Do you know your element?" He wondered nervously if she'd rather he come to her - crazy or not, he was the juvenile after all. Cosnaidis purred slightly in reassurance.

"Brace yourself, little one," she warned, then leapt up to the counter near the other feien so Alek didn't have to fly. He scratched behind her ears in gratitude.

Sunil
"Of course," Sunil said condescendingly. "It isn't difficult to figure out."

She sniffed a little, giving the cat the eye. She didn't trust cats. Always getting into secret spots and telling on her. Stupid animals. Or rather, too smart for Sunil's liking.

"You just have to find your affinity. Find a spot that makes you feel more alive, more at ease. Figure out what it has that other places do not."

She halted and gave Kojak a sidelong glance. She had been more open that she preferred, perhaps ruining the impression she had made earlier. Damn.

Aleksander
Alek paused to think about that one. "It's a bit harder for me, for some reason," he confessed. "I... I like being around plants, and I know my father was a plant type... but I don't seem to have any real affinity for them. I like being around Cosnaidis, but then she's my friend... I really don't know what I am.." He flushed slightly, unsure if that made him sound stupid.

Kojak
Kojak merely raised an eyebrow, an amused smile on his face now. Apparently Sunil wasn't as mean and nasty as she had been. Which meant she wasn't all the time, but ... well. She did have that air of trouble about her.

He took a step back as the other juvenile came up with the cat and offered a charming smile and wave in greeting, before turning his attention back to Sunil. "And here I was thinking you were nothing but trouble, and you're helping someone out," the words were quietly spoken, but loud enough Sunil would hear them.

Sunil
"I feel bad for the moron." Sunil said to Kojak, wrapping her arms across her chest and sticking out her hip in a posture that quite clearly conveyed how bored she was with the whole situation. "The dumber you are, the easier it is to pick on you and consequently it isn't as much fun."

Sunil curled her lip, now concentrating again on the juvenile below her. She had no idea what his element was, but there weren't that many options unless he was something totally new.

"There is a list of elements," she said grudgingly. "You could look for something that sounded like it might bridge plants and animals."

She was supposed to be part of some damn magic class, might as well get used to being more helpful than usual. But not to people she liked. They could damn well learn on their own.

"You though," she snapped, pointing at the bumblebee. "I'm not helping you!"

Aleksander
Alek stiffened and was about to protest that he was not a moron - then realized how childish that would sound. May as well stomp your feet and throw a tantrum, he thought wryly. "Thank you, Miss...?" he started, then trailed off as he realized he didn't know either of their names. He coughed slightly. "I'm sorry, I don't know either of your names," he apologized. "And I completely forgot to introduce myself. I'm Aleksander."

Kojak
"Can't be helped," Kojak replied, faintly amused, "besides, if someone is too intelligent, I'm sure that takes fun out of it as well. Just have to find that perfect person who reacts just the way you want them to." Even worse, he was thinking about how to pick on somebody, but ... well. It was merely a logical thought.

Rolling his eyes, tail flicking about some, Kojak just snorted. "I didn't ask for your help, sweets. Keep it for yourelf or help out this -- ah, Aleksander bloke." He shifted on his feet, turning to face the other juvenile with a friendly charming smile. It was the kind of smile that made you instantly like somebody.

"I'm Kojak, it's nice to meet you."

Sunil
"Didn't ask, but probably need it desperately." Sunil said smugly, her amusement having faded - but her arrogance going strong. "And I'm Sunil."

She resisted the urge to add, "I'm sure you've heard of me." since they were both juveniles and it was possible they had not. Poor souls.

Aleksander
Alek inclined his upper torso in a sort of sitting bow. "Pleased to meet both of you," he said. "I think I'll take your advice now, Miss Sunil." Patting Cosnaidis to let her know he'd be all right, he flew over to the list. Fortunately for him, his wings were of the bat-type, not cloth, so he could rely a little more on his physical strength to get there rather than his magic. He stood there and examined the list.

Kojak
"I don't need anything desperately. It is possible to learn on your own, after all." Kojak spoke back, smirking. And he was intelligent enough to do so, at least that was his thoughts. His confidence, his pride, could get him where he needed to go.

"Ah, Sunil. I've seen you before, but I didn't get your name then." ... and hopefully they weren't scaring off the new juvenile, but then again, he was all ready off and looking at the list.

Sunil
"You might learn on your own, you might not." Sunil said, sighing a little and looking at her side where she had hit the board the hardest. "There are all those saying about teamwork and two heads and s**t, but I'm sure you don't need me to tell you that. I'd work on your reflexes though."

She looked up and favored him with a serious look, wondering what to make of his comment.

"You should also make it a habit to learn what you can about other feien. How useful they might be. How dangerous they are."

What was this, Sunil gives out advice day? s**t. She scowled at him to save face a litle. She as getting senile in her old age or something.

Aleksander
After a minute or two of mumbling to himself and trying to work with what Sunil had said and what he had felt, he snapped his fingers. "I think I've got it," he said, flitting back to the other two. "The only two that seemed to match at all were Life and Respiration. I tried holding my breath, but I don't think I held it any longer than the average feien, so by process of elimination I have to be Life." He grinned triumphantly, pleased by this small success.

Kojak
"Hmm. Well, I've got an idea." Kojak smiled, widely, and he raised himself up in the air so that he could be eye to eye with Sunil. "Your advice is pretty good, but how about instead of saying I wanted help with magic from you, I ask that you help me with my reflexes."

He didn't even seemed phased by Sunil's scowl, though the words of advice she offered were carefully filed away.

"Congratulations on that, Aleksander." Kojak gave him a small grin, twisting about and turning in the air to face him. "Life's an interesting element."

Sunil

She snorted in disgust, making her opinion of the revelation clear. She was not impressed. And as for the other one, the one with spunk...

"Maybe," she said, looking at Kojak. "But I don't have time right now. I'm too busy tonight, but maybe I can squeeze you in some other time. Depends. Nothing for free, remember? Have to think about what you can offer me."

And with that Sunil buzzed her way to the door at top speed. She liked getting in the last word whenever possible. Even if it meant bolting out and pretending not to hear people.

Aleksander
Aleksander startled as Sunil zipped out the door. He sighed. It was probably better not to learn magic from a crazy lady anyway, even if she had helped him figure out his own element. Cosnaidis stretched, and glanced meaningfully at the clock. Aleksander paused to look, then sighed. "Kojak, I'd love to stay and talk with you further and get to know you as a friend," he dropped his voice to slightly above a whisper, "especially as Sunil is gone now," and raised it back to normal again. "But sadly I promised my bond I wouldn't stay out too late and it is approaching 'too late' far too quickly. It was definitely nice meeting you though, and I look forward to meeting again." He looked about, then borrowed one of the quills from the display and a bowl of paint, tearing a blank corner off one of the notices to write on and scribbled down the Life section of the Feien magic book before perching on Cosnaidis's back again. "See you around!" he called, waving as the cat padded out the door.

Kojak
Kojak rolled his eyes at Sunil. Couldn't she say anything positive -- but she was the mean sort it appeared and probably had used up her nice points all ready for the evening.

"There's all ways favors," Kojak murmured, remembering something he had talked about once. "But I remember that, nothing for free. We'll see when I catch up with you again." Of course, it was questionable if she heard everything, and he only rolled his eyes once more before waving at her departing figure.

His attention went back to Aleksander as he talked, and he nodded his head slightly. Of course, it all ways helped to know another feien, have another friend. "Ah, I can understand that. Don't want to stay out too late, before the bond comes looking for you." Kojak chuckled, knowing Wren would do the same to him, if he didn't know Kojak wouldn't be back sooner rather than later. "See you around then," he called out as the other juvenile was leaving. "Maybe we'll run into each other again." The last bit was murmured and he lifted himself back up in the air to expect the boards as he had meant to before heading out go home as well.

Visit to Rynn's

Sevviekun
Sevvie walked up to the door, cat and feien riding on his shoulders. He checked the address, then knocked at the door more confidently than he actually felt.

Rynn
Rynn hurried over and opened it, grinning. "Sevvie! Come on in! I see your feien has emerged as well! What's his name?" She moved aside to allow him inside. At the table Ian, Aria, and Kira sat, with Ian getting up at the arrival.

Sevviekun
Sevvie smiled at the trio of feien on the table as he came in. "His name is Aleksander," he said. Cosnaidis yawned, then jumped delicately from his shoulders onto one of the table's chairs, Alek on her back. He scratched her ears, then flitted the short distance between the chair and the table.

"Hello," he said a trifle uncertainly. This was, after all, his family.

Rynn
Ianios smiled warmly. "Greetings, Alek!" He hurried over, giving the small feien a hug. Aria grinned. "He looks a bit like you, Ian."

Kira peered at her brother. "So we're related?"

Sevviekun
Alek looked back at her. "I suppose we're siblings," he said, looking from her to the two adults. "You must be Aria," he said, looking at the water feien. "And you're Ianios," he finished, looking up at the one hugging him.

Rynn
Ian grinned. "Smart one he is," he said, breaking the hug. "Feel free to call me Dad or Ian. Whatever you prefer." Secretly he was hoping for Dad.

Kira rolled her eyes. Of course they forgot to introduce her. "I'm Kira."

Sevviekun
Avoiding the issue of what to call his biological father, he looked over at Kira. "Have you figured out what element you are yet?" he asked curiously. He wondered if she might't be the same as his.

Rynn
She shook her head, her hair moving side to side. "Not yet. Have you?" She was curious. If he was one element, she might be the other.

Sevviekun
"I went to the shop yesterday and checked it out. Apparently my element is Life, which I don't really understand since Mom is a water and Dad is a plant..." He shrugged. "Does it feel like you are, too?" He had decided to refer to them as Mom and Dad for now at least, until he decided otherwise.

Rynn
Kira nodded. "Yeah, it kinda does." She glanced back at her parents, smirking. "Seems odd though, but water does help plants grow."

Ian nodded. "I was sure you'd be dual water and plant. I was wrong there."

Rynn smiled at the little group of feien. "I can't wait to meet the other three siblings you guys have."

Sevviekun
"I wonder what element the others will be," Alek mused. "Do you think they'll all be Life-elements too?"

Rynn
Ian rubbed his chin. "Quite possible. It could happen."

Kira was looking over Alek. "Well, you do look a lot like me. But I'm better looking." She flipped some hair back, smirking.

Sevviekun
Alek merely shrugged at that. "You're a girl. You're supposed to look better," he said, sounding just a touch amused. "Anyway, it's not really the outside that matters so much as the inside."

Rynn
Ian smirked as well. "He's got you there, Kira." She just turned and glared at her dad.

Aria looked over at her son. "You do remind me of Ian when he was little. You're adorable."

Sevviekun
Alek flushed slightly, his blue wings fluttering a touch. "Yeah, I guess... but I got your wings and colour," he mumbled, looking at her shyly.

Rynn
Aria smiled and was about to comment when Rynn set down a plate. "Hey, Alek, glad you could come. I know Sevvie wasn't aware, but today's Aria's birthday. The day she emerged from her bloom. Thought we'd celebrate."

Ianios glanced over to the plate. On it was a cupcake. "I don't like sweets, you know."

Rynn handed him a grape. "I remembered." Then she lit the candle she placed in the cupcake.

Sevviekun
Sevvie sputtered slightly into his tea. "It's your birthday?" he asked her incredulously. For some reason the tiny little fairies didn't seem that old. "Well, congratulations!"

Rynn
Aria looked up at Sevvie and grinned. "Yep! I'm a year old!" She grinned, and seeing the lighted candle, she went over to put it out.

"Make a wish and blow it out, Aria." Kira pouted. She still had yet to get her party! Now her Mom was getting one. It wasn't fair!

Sevviekun
"Do we get to sing 'Happy Birthday?'" Sevvie asked teasingly, sipping at his tea again. "Hope your wish comes true!"

Rynn
Rynn grinned. "Sounds good to me!" She started singing the song before Aria blew out the candle. Ian joined in and finally Kira, having picked up the words. Aria clapped, then blew out the candle.

Sevviekun
Alek had listened and sort of tried to sing along, but didn't know the words at all. He wondered if he'd get a birthday party when he was a year old... Eh. "Happy birthday, Mom," he said, smiling at her. It felt weird to call a feien he'd only met ten minutes ago "Mom" but... technically, she was.

Rynn
The water feien smiled, hugging her two children to her. "Thank you, Alek," she said, kissing the top of his head. "Do you like sweets?" Rynn was cutting the cupcake into smaller bites for the feien as Ian munched on his grape.

Sevviekun
Alek tentatively swiped a bit of frosting off with a finger and tried it, then made a face. "I think I'm with Dad on this one," he said, sidling away from the frosting. "But the rest of the cupcake, the part without the frosting, should be okay," he added, not wishing to offend her or her bond Rynn.

Rynn
Rynn nodded, getting a piece without the frosting. She handed it to Alek in an acorn bowl. "I wasn't sure if you were like Ian or Aria. Ian can't stand sweets." She looked to Kira. "Go on, try it."

Kira swiped her finger through the icing, tasting it. She too made a face. "I'm with them." Rynn gave her a piece without the frosting.

"Sevvie, I got a couple more on the counter. Help yourself."

Sevviekun
"I think I will," he said, swishing his tail a bit as he nicked one of the cupcakes.

"The cake itself is really good, Miss Rynn," Alek said after trying a bite of plain cupcake. "Thank you very much." He nibbled happily.

Rynn
The dragoness smiled. "You're quite welcome." She watched her own feien eat, laughing at Ian as grape juice dripped off his chin, down his chest. "Ianios, you're making a mess." She tore a bit of paper towel and handed to him. The green feien blushed, smirking. Rynn took one for herself, eating. "I was hoping that we could get all the family together, for a picture."

Sevviekun
Alek blinked up at her. "Family picture? But I thought there were other blooms, too?" he asked, traces of a frown flitting across his face as he tried to work through this puzzlement.

Rynn
"There are others. I'm wanting to get with their bonds to get all your siblings together. I think it'll be nice."

Sevviekun
"After they've emerged? Or sooner?" he asked, semi-guardedly. He'd been introduced to a pair of parents and a sister already today; he wasn't sure if he could handle many more siblings at the moment.

Rynn
"Soon after they emerged. A week or two, perhaps. Give everyone time to settle in with their bonds." She smiled, reaching out to ruffle Alek's hair with her fingertip. "Don't worry, not going to rush it all at once."

Sevviekun
Alek let the air whoosh out of him in a sigh of relief. He hadn't even noticed he'd been holding it. "That's good," he said. "I mean, because it's a bit confusing right after you emerge, to be introduced to all these people who are your family...." He trailed off, shrugging. "Just... a bit hectic, you know?"

Rynn
Rynn nodded. "I'm sure it would be. But I'm not going to rush it. Only bloom Ian and Aria haven't seen in person is Sundragyn's. But I heard that one has emerged. I just need to contact her."

Sevviekun
"Is it another sister or a brother?" he asked, interested. He finished off his cupcake and fastidiously brushed off his hands.

Rynn
Even her own feien looked towards her in interest. Rynn smirked. "I believe it was a female. Looks a lot like Kira."

"Another me?" Kira squealed. No no, there couldn't be another her! She was special!

Sevviekun
"Well, you look a lot like Mom and Dad," Alek pointed out logically. "It only makes sense that another girl would also look like them, and therefore like you."

Rynn
Kira nodded. "You look like Dad. Wonder if the next one will be more like him."

Ian rubbed his chin. "Well," he mused, "I wouldn't be surprised if one at least had my wings. Kira's seems to be more a cross between ours. Got the veins like mine."

Sevviekun
"Whereas mine look entirely like Mom's," Alek added, nodding. "Odds are at least one of them is going to have striped markings, too, and maybe one will have green markings." It looked like Sevvie's enthusiasm for science and genetics was starting to affect him after all.

Rynn
Aria shook her head. "No green ones. Rynn took pictures. Care to see?"

Sevviekun
"Sure," Alek said, his curiousity piqued.

Rynn
Rynn went and got the photo album, where she had put the pictures of the blooms. She opened it to the page, letting the feien get close. She glanced at Sevvie. "Did you know I had pictures?"

Sevviekun
"I figured you would," he said, shrugging. "They're your feien's children, after all. I have a photo of Alek's leaf at home."

Alek perused the photos, fingers touching lightly on the leaf he knew to be his. "Well, you still never know," he murmured. "Maybe the green just didn't show up on the bloom..."

Rynn
Rynn pointed out the two she hadn't heard of emerging yet. The chestnut and the wheat-like bloom. "Yeah...who knew that those two would breed with each other?"

Kira looked over at her own bloom. "Boy, I was square."

Sevviekun
"At least you weren't flat," he told her, grinning slightly.

Rynn
Kira grinned, flipping to Ian's page. "Dad was flat too."

Sevviekun
"At least he was green, like a leaf ought to be," Alek said, laughing. "Still, that's quite a bit of variety in bloom-types."

Rynn
Aria smirked. "Old leafy here was fine." Ian laughed. "People wondered how a feien fit into a flat leaf. Well, two of us know, eh?" he asked, ribbing his son.

Sevviekun
"I still don't really know," he admitted, shrugging. "I was there, sort of, and then I was out. It's kind of odd."

Rynn
Ian nodded. "Hey, did you pounce your bond when you came out?"

Sevviekun
Aleksander blinked at him a bit. "Ah, no, I didn't... They were sort of waiting for me," he said, looking over to Cosnaidis. "She was keeping watch on me and saw when it started."

Rynn
"We were asleep when Ian emerged. First thing I knew, he had pounced Aria, starting her." Ian smirked.

Sevviekun
"Ah. Well I emerged in the middle of the day, so I didn't get much of a chance to pounce anybody," he said, shrugging.

Rynn
Aria smiled, licking off frosting from her fingers. "Well, it was kinda fun. Maybe we could have a sleep over, sometime."

Sevviekun
"Maybe..." he conceded, starting to feel a tad uncomfortable. He wasn't sure he wanted to be away from Sevvie for quite so long yet, even if the feien involved were family.

Rynn
Ian glanced down at his son. "Only if you want to. How do you feel about exploring?" He couldn't wait to go exploring with at least one of his kids.

Sevviekun
"I dunno... I haven't really done any exploring except around Sevvie's house," Alek replied.

Rynn
"Perhaps one day we can go exploring then. A treasure hunt or something."

Sevviekun
"Maybe..." Alek said noncommittally. "It might be fun."

Rynn
Ian nodded, Kira coming over to Alek, looking up at him. "Hmm..."
Aria looked at Kira, curious at what she was doing. "Kira?" The yellow life feien looked back at her, smiled, then looked at Alek again, before pushing him.

Sevviekun
Alek stumbled backwards a step before regaining his balance. "What did you do that for?" he asked, blinking at her confusedly but tensing in case she was crazy like Sunil. You never knew - yellow wasn't exactly an evident colour from their parents, so even though crazy wasn't either, maybe she was. From the chair, Cosnaidis's eyes narrowed to slits and she let off a soft, rumbling growl.

Rynn
"Just to see what you'd do," Kira replied. She really didn't care, but he didn't seem the type to attack. The adult feien blinked, both confused at her. "Kira...behave around your brother," Ian warned.

"Tell him you're sorry." Aria crossed her arms. She'd have a talk with her daughter later. Kira sighed, rolling her eyes. "I'm sorry, Alek." She wasn't really. It was on impulse. She didn't care really.

Sevviekun
He narrowed his eyes at her slightly, not entirely trusting her. "And how did you expect me to react?" he asked quietly, but his voice was underlaid with steel. Sizing her up mentally she was shorter, but that didn't necessarily mean weaker - that shove had been enough proof of that.

Rynn
Kira shrugged. "I wanted to see if you'd attack me. See what kind of brother I have." She glanced at her parents. "Seems we're not exactly like either of them."

Sevviekun
"No, we're not. We're children, not clones," he said, trying to bite back a scathingly sarcastic tone. "And whether or not we're alike enough to be friends, we're family. I'm not going to attack you."

Rynn
She just shrugged again. "Up to you." Ian glanced at them, shaking his head. How did he and Aria get such children? "Kira, don't do that again, hear me?" he said. If he had to, he'd put some sense into her.

Sevviekun
"She won't," a sibilant voice hissed, and Cosnaidis rose from her chair and gracefully hopped onto the table. "Sevvie, Alek, I think it's time we took our leave," she said, crouching down. Supposedly it was to allow Alek to climb on easier, but it did look an awful lot like she was getting ready to pounce.

Sevvie looked helplessly at Rynn. "I'm afraid I have to go now," he said ruefully. "We'll see each other again soon?"

Rynn
Rynn smiled. "Of course. Maybe Kira will have better manners next time." She glanced at Kira who actually cringed under her bond's gaze. Aria hurried over, hugging her son quickly. "Take it easy ok? I love you, Alek," she whispered.

Sevviekun
He hugged back. "You too, Mom. And hey - no hospital, no foul, huh?" he added, looking at Kira penetratingly, before flitting the short distance up to Cosnaidis's back. The cat glanced at Sevvie.

"Coming?" she asked acerbically. Sevvie merely sighed and followed. "Good night, Aria, Ianios, Rynn, Kira," he called back. "Feel free to visit."

Rynn
"Goodnight guys, have a safe trip home, ok?" Rynn said, opening the door for them. Ian waved. He liked the boy, but his daughter....He'd have to teach her manners later.

Sevviekun
"We'll be safe, don't worry," Sevvie called back as they started down the path to their house. Alek waved back for a bit, then nestled down into Nai's fur. It was a cool evening, and he didn't want to catch cold on the way home.

Rynn
Rynn waved, then closed the door. "Now for you, young lady..." she said, addressing Kira.

Another Visit to the Shop

Sevviekun
Alek and Cosnaidis entered the shop, Alek riding in his usual place by the scruff of her neck.

"I just want to make sure nobody's taken it down, that's all, we won't even be gone for ten minutes," Alek was saying to the cat. She merely huffed in response. He looked about, then noticed a pair of feien on the counter. "Hello," he called in polite greeting.

Ice Queen
"Perhaps I can figure it out." He said, nodding in agreement with her comments. "I um... shall leave you and you--" He said, nodding a greeting to Alek. "To talk while I figure it out." He finished, smiling crookedly. He gave a sketchy bow before heading for the list. Soon he was lost in his study, as he tended to get when reading.

Shiro Ookami
Patience turned to the newcommer and turned away from her still hurt wing. He was new, but yet he seemed familiar. Patience tilted her head, trying to recall where she had might have seem him. Though that cat looked more familiar.

"Hello there."

Sevviekun
Nai jumped up on the counter a short distance away so she wouldn't risk knocking over the feien, and Alek glided over to her.

"I'm Alek," he introduced himself. "And this is Cosnaidis." He gestured to the cat now curled up, muttering obscenities to herself about irresponsible juveniles.

Shiro Ookami
Patience looked down at the younger feien and smiled, trying not to move her wing to much.

"Well it's nice to meet you Alek, Cosnaidis. Are you a recent blooming? I know there were several from Ian and Aria, are you one of their children?"

He kinda reminded her of Ian, and was blue like Aria, so there was a high posibility he was one of their kids. That and she didn't know of to many other juvinials that were about. Though she didn't know if she was right or not, that's why she was asking.

Sevviekun
Alek blinked at the question, then nodded. "Yes, I'm one of Aria and Ian's children. My bond is Sevvie," he said, smiling at her. "Do you know him?"

Shiro Ookami
"Ah!"

Patience slapped her closed fist into an open palm, realizing why he was familiar yet she had never seen him before. He was Sevvie's bloom she had met before. And that's why the cat was familar, she had seen the feline with Sevvie before. This was the leaf bloom that he kept in the terarium.

"Yes, I know Sevvie. We have met a few times. I saw you when you were still a Bloom... er... Leaf. Leaf bloom. That always confused me how a feien fit in a leaf, but here you are. My name is Patience. I also know both your parents as well. Nice to meet you."

Patience bowed her head, moving her wing. She flinched and brought her hand to her shoulder. She really was going to need to do somehting about this. She woulnd't be able to head home like this.

Sevviekun
Alek looked at her curiously. "Something wrong?" he asked, then felt stupid immediately after. Duh something was wrong or she wouldn't be flinching.

Shiro Ookami
"I had somewhat a bad day. I crash landed and hurt my wing. It's, nothing to worry yourself about. Thank you though for the concern."

Patience didn't want the young Feien to worry himself about her. She was feeling better and her motherly insticts was taking over. She didn't want the young feien to worry about her. She'll be fine.

Ice Queen
Aleric looked up at those words, scowling lightly. She was still hurting... He only knew one feien that could help, but Silva was busy... if he was even here...

He paused, seriously debating going to find him. It wouldn't hurt to look, would it? On second thought, knowing Silva, it might...

He headed for the two, offering hesitantly. "My um..." Friend? Brother? Nemesis? What WAS Silva, anyways? "Aquaintance knows how to heal... if you would like me to see if I can find him." He offered.

Sevviekun
He looked up at the oddly-marked purple feien. "Well, supposedly I'm able to heal a little bit," Alek said dubiously. "My element is Life, you see, and um... I don't know if I can do you any good but I could certainly try..." He blushed a bit - his magic was a bit pathetic, but he did want to help her. Especially if she knew his bond.

Shiro Ookami
She looked over at Aleric, and bit her lip.

"Well, it seems as pensive as you are with talking to him, I think I don't wan tot put you in that position."

Patience looked at her wing questioningly.

"Gut reaction eh? I wonder."

Colsing her eyes, she just relaxed. Letting the energy float up around her. She didn't try to pull it like she normally did, rather was trying to push it lightly and pull it flowingly around her wing. Focusing on where it hurt. She opened her eyes to look at her wing and her Eyes seemed to be Glowing brighter then before.

Ice Queen
He watched silently for a second, glad that his advice seemed to have helped. Then looked over at the juvenile. "I'm a life element, as well. Although I don't know many spells yet."

Sevviekun
Alek felt the pull of the magic, felt it in his very bones. Almost without thinking, he laid his hand on her shoulder, trying to supplement her own healing magic with his. It was the duty of a Life feien to help those in need - she needed healing, and he would damn well try to help it along.

Shiro Ookami
Patience felt a hand on her shoulder. It broke a bit of her concertation, but she saw the young feien trying to help her out. She smiled, her eyes turning up in happyness at the corners. Then she turned to look back at her wing and set back to concentrating. It was feeling better, but not there yet. She contiued to mold the enegry around her wing, making it spiral around the hurt part, imagining a strand of magic weaving itself to and fro around the limb. It was as if she could almost see the magic. But not quiet yet. Her knees were getting weaker as the wing was feeling better. Her form seemed to be half sinking to the counter top.

Ice Queen
Aleric reached out, just waiting to grab her before she fell. He didn't want her to hit the counter and hurt herself, not right after working so hard to heal!

Sevviekun
Dimly Alek realized that he didn't have enough magic to help her out that way, so he felt for the flow of magic from his hand and bade it stop, feeling as if he were working through molasses, then concentrated more on helping the odd feien keep Patience on her feet - he may not be able to help magically, so he'd just help her pride. He had to help her any way he could. Had to.

Shiro Ookami
As she finished healing, she was rapidly loosing her consiousness. The last thing she realized was the two of them was trying to catch her. She was out. Her strength sapped, she fell unconsious. It was just a build up of everything that had happened. She had no more energy left, she was passed out. Though she was breathing fine, and the wing seemed to not be hurting her anymore. She was sleeping for now.

Ice Queen
Aleric caught her, smirking slightly. "She's had a rough day." He said softly.

Sevviekun
"Indeed," Alek said, his head still a bit muzzy from using magic. He looked at the other feien. "So you're a Life element too?" he asked as he started working on shifting Patience to a more comfortable position without dropping her.

Ice Queen
Aleric nodded, helping the other male lower her gently to the counter. Then he sat down himself, using his leg to prop up her head. "I am. But I'm afraid I haven't been around long enough to do much with it. I was reborn less than a week ago."

Sevviekun
"But you're an adult, aren't you?" Alek asked, blinking. "I've been around for about a week, and I'm a juvenile. Wouldn't that have to make you older than me?"

Ice Queen
"In a way. I didn't come from a bloom. At least not this time. I was dead, then someone brought me back. They call it being an 'Ancient.'" He replied, glancing down at Patience to make sure she looked comfortable.

"She's quite beautiful, isn't she?" He asked, almost idly.

Sevviekun
Dead, then brought back? Was such a thing even possible? Hmmm... Science had better have a good answer for this. He shook himself at the question, snapping out of his private musings. "Huh?? Oh, um... I guess?" Alek stammered out, stumbling over his words in confusion. She was pretty, he supposed, but he hadn't ever really bothered with how she looked. "Is that why you're all wierdly marked? Because you're an Ancient?" he blurted out, then sighed inwardly. He really had to start thinking these sort of things through before he said them.

Ice Queen
Aleric blinked, then laughed softly. "I don't know why I'm marked so weirdly. I believe I was born this way." He said, amusement in his eyes. "I hadn't realized I WAS marked strangely, actually. But I haven't met many feien as of yet."

Sevviekun
"Well, I haven't either so I suppose I shouldn't be saying that," Alek admitted. "But I've only seen one other feien who was as... um... colourful as you are, and that was Kojak." He shrugged. "Everyone else I've seen has fairly plain-looking markings by comparison."

Ice Queen
Aleric nodded. "I suppose I do stand out." He didn't sound as if that fact bothered him. "It's not something I'm going to worry about, it's just a part of who I am."

"Do you think we should try to wake her?" He asked, looking back to Patience.

Sevviekun
"Mm, probably not. She probably needs to rest after having expended so much energy healing. I know I could sure use a nap right about now," he said, grinning wryly. Then his face fell into what can only be described as the "Oh-s**t Expression." "Oh man, it's late. I've been gone way too long, Sevvie's going to notice for sure!" He thwacked his forehead with an open palm, mortified. Still, duty demanded he do something about Patience. "Uh, if she doesn't wake up, I could take her home on Cosnaidis. I don't know where she lives, but I'm sure Sevvie wouldn't mind her coming over... Or maybe we can rouse her just long enough to get directions?" he asked, fretting just a bit.

Ice Queen
He frowned, looking thoughtful. "I'll stay here. She'll wake eventually." He said calmly, nodding with that decision. "You should go home, your bond is probably worried."

His was probably worried as well, but he doubted she was AS worried as the juvenile's. Silva was here somewhere, after all.

Sevviekun
Alek nodded. "Thanks..." he started, then paused, frowning. "You know, I never caught your name, nor gave you mine. I'm sorry; I'm Aleksander."

Ice Queen
"It was a pleasure to meet you, Aleksander. I'm Aleric." Aleric replied, smiling.

Shiro Ookami
Patience groaned as she was coming back to the land of the consious. Though her body wasn't happy with her in the least. She noticed right away that her wing felt better... And She also noticed she was in Alerics lap. Making a bit of a squeaking noise, she got off his lap and landed in a kneeling position next to him. Her face was beat red, and she was having trouble coming up with something to say.

Sevviekun
"A pleasure to meet you, Aleric." Alek said, smiling. "Ah, back with us again, Patience?" He grinned ever-so-slightly wider as she blushed. "If you aren't feeling up to getting home by yourself, Nai and I could take you, or Aleric could, if you prefer."

Ice Queen
"Oh good, you're awake." Aleric said, calmly, a hint of laughter in his voice. "We were worried how we would get you home." He glanced at her wing. "Are you feeling better?"

Shiro Ookami
Patience didn't undersatnd why they both seemed to be in such good and cheery moods. Maybe a joke or something was said when she was still out of it, she didn't know. She turned and stretched her wing. It was a bit sore, but most of her body was sore.

"Aparently I can heal.... and it takes alot out of you. Ugh. I feel like I got run over by something. But I seem to be all better."

She flexed the wing in question and she didn't flinch. It seemed better, in exchange for her being really really tired.

Ice Queen
"Do you need assistance getting home?" Aleric asked.

Shiro Ookami
Flapping the wing a bit more, seeing if she felt up for a flight. Then she remembered something.

"Oh, I forgot the kits should be in Shiro's store. They took refuge there after Fortune arrived. Pickle stayed behind, but Magnet was to lazy to avoid the curious hands of the new baby, so he went to the store to seek some peace. His shop isn't to far from here. I think I can make it there and then Magnet can give me a ride back. I... I don't want to impose anymore then I already have. Thank you Aleric... Thank you Alek."

Her face had lost some of the redness, though a nice small glow of red still hung across her nose.

Ice Queen
"It was my pleasure to assist you." He replied, nodding slightly, a little smile playing on his lips. "I should be leaving, as well." He said, smoothly getting to his feet.

Sevviekun
"Not a problem at all, Patience," Alek said smoothly, smiling at her. "But I'm afraid I must take my leave now, or I'll catch it even worse from Sevvie than I've already got coming to me." He winced dramatically, then gave the two a bow. "I hope we shall get to talk again sometime soon!" he called as he trotted over to Cosnaidis.

The cat was quite angry about being woken up and about having come to the shop at all, so Alek boarded meekly, ignoring the almost inaudible string of curses from the feline's mouth, and waved goodbye to the two still on the counter.

We're going WHERE?!?!

Unfortunately for Alek, Sevvie was wide awake and pacing when he and Cosnaidis got back. Equally unfortunate was the fact that he was really quite angry with the small feien.

"WHAT were you THINKING? You could have been KILLED! You could have gotten LOST! You don't know what kind of people may be out on the streets this late at night! You didn't leave a NOTE, I had NO IDEA where you were or when you might be coming back!" the agitated half-wolf shouted, continuing to pace.

"Dad, I was fine! Nai was with me the whole time, and -"
Alek started to protest, but was quickly cut off.

"And nothing! Cosnaidis, wonderful though she may be and quite large compared to you guys, is STILL a HOUSE CAT. Practically nobody above two feet high is frightened of her!" Sevvie said, beginning to calm down. He ran his hands through his hair. "Alek... I just... ... I'm sorry," he said, sitting at the table. "I'm sorry! I just... I can't lose you!" he said, breaking down into sobs, hiding his face in his folded arms.

Alek paused, unsure of himself now. "Dad?" he said softly. He fluttered quickly to the table, reaching a hand out uncertainly. "Dad?" He felt rather awkward just standing there, but he didn't know what to do.

"Sevvie, get a grip," Cosnaidis said, but her fur was fluffed in worry. "Come on Sev, get it together."

Surprising them all, the one to get him to stop was Itztli. The Surlare padded into the kitchen and wormed his head onto Sevvie's lap. "S'alright man. S'alright," he murmured soothingly. Almost subconsciously, Sevvie reached down with a hand to scratch him between the ears.

"I'm sorry... I'm so sorry, Alek... I shouldn't've shouted... I was just so worried.. I couldn't... I can't deal with losing you... Not after... never again..." Sevvie mumbled, working to calm himself down. Wiping his eyes with his free hand, he looked over to the feien and smiled weakly. "You know what I think we need? A vacation. Just... get away from everything. You know?"

"But... where would we go?" Cosnaidis asked, blinking at this sudden announcement.

"Yes. A vacation is exactly what we need," he said again, more firmly. "As to where, well... I suppose we'll figure that out later."

"We can't just go haring off to nowhere!" Nai screeched.

"Fine then. We'll go to Hawaii."

"Go... WHERE?!"
