Back before I sold the guild to you I had the same problem.
Perhaps we need to recruit more people that are more active in gaia?
New beginning story?
Same universe but opposite side so that no one may partake in a particular era?
Or if we do uphold this side of the universe it be a time era that was not in the movies.

I find it redundant to do that era because anyone can pretend.

O.o Just suggestions of a Forgotten.

How about a complete purge of the old role play? Reintroduce characters or create new ones but pick a timeframe and stick to it.

=] I think starting over should be inevitable at this point in the guild. If people are creative enough to RP they should be creative enough to become someone new!

Yea, a refresh is inevitable, unless we got some Topical Necromancers in the house? No..? *prods the dead topic with a stick* Yep, it's dead Jim.

Don't really dig the RPG-level system. I dunno... Just seems like a hassle. As for the Time Period Vote, New Republic era (>5ABY) and before the Yuzhon Vong Wars. Some time during when the Black Sun was in power and the same time period as the Shadows Of The Empire book series.

What about the time of the New Galactic Empire? Its far off enough to allow for expansion but the technology is the same as the original saga. And as two additional plus' there are actually a legitimate amount of Jedi as well as the fact that we would be writing Star Wars history.

Any of the mods on to chip in their opinions..?

Wow, I didn't expect this thread to attract quite this much attention so quickly. It's good to see. Thank you everyone who has put in input so far, especially the new members. It's always good to have a fresh view.

Two things seem very apparent at this point in time:

1. Most (if not all) seem to want to start a new RP
2. A post-GCW setting has had the most recommendations.

That's not to say people should hesitate to voice opinion contrary to this trend. All ideas are welcome.

As for my personal view, the idea of RPG-style incentives within the RP intrigues me. However, Sidal makes a good point. How would the Crew/GMs themselves be moderated within it? Leaving someone's character development in the hands of another might lead to favouritism. Moreover, wouldn't new characters start of rather generic, needing a fair amount of time before becoming more personalised? Finally, if activity determines "experience", do you think that would encourage posts for the sake of "experience", rather than for the sake of the story?

Do people think these events would happen? If so, how could they be avoided?

(Could that sound more like an essay question if I tried?)

On a side note, I desperately feel the need to remedy something. Mitsukai Hakume, this guild has never been bought from anyone. It was opened on the day the GGNs were released by K 19, Mr Maniac (Mr Amstel), and myself. If you think otherwise, you are mistaken.

Hey uh, Boss Seph, I dunno if she was talking about Our guild... >.> Just saying... *hides behind a cardboard cutout of Aeris*

Anyways, so we still need to decide on a system. Personally, a moderator approval system would work; if someone seems capable of playing their character and it feels logically sane, then let 'em have it. Like a "background post" test or something...

The mods/GMs would have to just remember that their playing just a character as well and we‘d just have to trust them not to godmod or play favorites.

As for character advancement in the RP, post count must pertain to what job the characters are sent on.
We could set a level of posts per difficulty of the job.
Easy = five posts
Hard = ten and so on.

Once a character reaches the required number of posts then all of the GMs/mods will decide to promote someone.
Like for those of the military will go from privet to sergeant.
Go from a starfighter or light freighter to something a little bigger.

force users will be picked from the ranks of those who meet the prior post count needed to be come a padawan.

Masters will pick a player character and train them in the ways of the force, be it light or dark side. (Opens up a lot of roll-playing but only if both parties can be on and dedicate time to it.)

Make the required amount of posts and complete your training the mods/GMs will get together and decide if that character is ready to be a Knight.

At first, it might be a little bit of work for the Mods/GMs but as player characters gain in level and rank as well as more responsibility in whatever faction they represent.

Just trying to clarify, each post (I assume per "quest" or mission) adds a tally mark that builds similar to an EXP bar? After like 10 posts or so, they go up in a level and customization?

a restart would be nice, everyone starting back on even footing. however, i would like the option to keep my character. retool the back-story for a different time-period, but keep the main elements.

Yep,
But not ten posts,
More like 100 posts.
I want to see some commitment. twisted

j/k. number of post needs to be discussed but more than ten.
I expect ten posts for a hard quest/mission/job.

Could have "goal marks" for different things, like for every 10 posts a minor upgrade, 3 minors equal a middle-ground, 3 MGs equal a Major change. *shrugs* I'm watching Castle. >.> lol

Alright this is the point at which I stop all of you and your backwards plans. First off if you want this to work you're either going to have to unite the guild into one group or divide it into factions that do war, for example have a Rebel Alliance fighting the Galactic Empire with smaller independent factions in between such as Bounty Hunters in small numbers, the way to be eligible to become one of the independent factions would be to pass a rigorous role play test to make sure one is qualified enough to do so.

Don't hand out promotions for quantity look for quality.
