hmmmmmmmm apparently i maid a grammar mistake when i was reading it :l

but you still have not anserwed my question, you have referd to christianitys use of gealic and celtic culture but my erlier comment was that christianity is actually just an evloved version of Atenism with several twists that it borrowed from diffrent cultures and religions

also just becuase a religion has been formed from many diffrent cultures does not mean it existed back then, thats like saying christianity is older then the Mesopetamian religion (excuse my spelling)

Prohibiting non-Christians from posting only adds to the stereotype of Christianity as hypocrisy. Abd besides that, I am sure that allowing non-Christiants to post would allow lively discussions and debates to take place.

Well to answer your question Temporary, as I've sad in your other topic, Christianity came almost 100% out of Judaism, we both believe in the same god and such, but Jews don't believe Jesus was the son of god.

As for other things that were said, about the origins of holidays, It's true that certain things were carried over from other religions, but others really have nothing to do with the Christian belief at all, and are just kind of a worldwide thing, such as halloween as you mentioned.

Easter and Good Friday, are the birthdays of the day Jesus died on the cross, then rose from the dead three days later, originally it was just a day for celebration, and over the course of time, it became a worldwide chocolate-giving holiday

allot of christian holidays cover up an earlier "pagan" holiday or are just morphed versions of one of those earlier holidays
im not sure how many holidays are actually what ive stated above but i can tell you this, easter is not a christian holiday or at least it features a ton of polythiestic items and symbols
also you do realize that christmas is actually just a cover up holiday as i call them, it actually masks and mirrors that ealier holiday in almost everyway

im going to stop with my "strange" beleifs and ideas so i cant reply to the last part

i still hold fast to the theory that Ahtensim played a huge role in shaping the god believing religions at that time(or maybe it was just christianity, i cant quiet rember which)

Christmas just happens to come around at the time of Yule.

Easter just HAPPENS to fall on the older pagan holiday(s) of rebirth (as I said earlier. ever wonder about that egg and why it's part of easter)

Well technically I'm a Christian so technically I can post.

I think the point is irony.

Also Yule (Odd way to write Jul) is a Scandinavian thing. There are many things in it that refer to our old ways and Jul is today mainly about the old then about Jesus. Now the strategy about this is that to take over a people to a new religion is very bad to take away the old. It's much better the redo it. That's also why in Sweden it's the 24th that is celebrated and generally no other days, well that are considered holidays.

There are also things as midsummer. That's out old sexual feast. Well there is a great word in Swedish that means both sex and to sow a field. I don't know it in English but now you know the meaning of the party.

Now as my finish touch here is what I want to say. True Christianity has many things similar to other religions, because they have been connected because to try and force a people into a new religion and by punish the old ways leads to rebellion. That is a bad thing!

wow.. 2 nonchristians have taken over this topic...

=/ not our fault that there's so many loopholes, contradictions, and faults that can be pointed out in Christianity. It not only defies logic and common sense, Christianity also defies the laws of physics which is just plain stupid to believe in something that cannot physically happen.

hate to be the bearer of reality, but stuff like that can't happen in reality.

The bible is an amazing set of storys. But hell, I don't believe the world of Harry Potter is real just because it's amazing.

Some people will never believe in stuff that actually makes sense.

you may think omg your nonchristians. you're so ignorant and I can't believe God hasn't struck you with lightening yet.

but who sounds more ignorant in reality? non christians saying stuff that science backs up, or christians who yabber on about a spirit that impregnated a virgin and her child became a profit that could work magic all because at the beginning of time, that same spirit created a man from dirt and a woman from his rib, but the rib woman was convinced by some magical, shape-shifting snake (that was really head spirit's right hand archangel long time ago) to eat magical forbidden fruit that made them smart enough to realize they were naked..

If someone was in the streets preaching that s**t today without the bible being so wide spread, that person would be locked in an insane asylum =/

If I went into the mountains for 40 years and came back with two rocks with rules from an unseen overlord. I'd be looked at as if I were retarded.

seriously. try thinking with your common sense not a book that tells you what to believe.

From a Christian............
I don't know if my post would be read though, as the discussion was last year.

Christianity has always been an easy target for flamers. Christians are called stupid and are said to have no common sense. In general, it seems to be the accepted norm that a non Christian can say what he wants and call it exercising his/her rights, but a Christian cannot because we're retarded for believing....
I don't mind non Christians posting here so long as they don't flame us.
Now, I guess the original idea of the posts was to be a place of advice Christian to Christian, but I will follow the trend set by Ichigo and Temp for now....
Christianity is somewhat shrouded in shadows. The teachings and the Bible seem wrought with incredible and unbelievable stories that any logical minded person would easily dismiss as crap. Yet it is so widespread. Why is that? Is is that so many people of the world are retarded enough to believe? And if so, why? Why has it's concepts and following lasted so long? I think even a non Christian has to agree that there is definitely something to it.
In my opinion, being Christian has nothing to do with being a generous goody two shoes. Being Christian means believing that Jesus Christ came to earth to die for our sins and give us an opportunity to get to heaven. That's what it is to me. Ichigo says that it defies common sense, that a virgin cannot be impregnated by a spirit. Maybe he would agree that a virgin can be impregnated by Science, i.e a genetic blip that caused her to become pregnant. Even if he doesn't agree, I think he'd have an easier time swallowing that. But who/what controls this genetic blip? Genes. Who/What controls genes? DNA. Who/What controls DNA? And beyond that? How does the spontaneous happen? Are we not specific beings? Isn't the world too fine tuned for random spontaneity? The laws of Physics show that for the world to exist, a balance exists. Any change either way of that balance and the world wouldn't exist. As a student of Science (I did Physics as well), I find it hard to believe that in the creation and evolution the random things that happened were all the EXACT results need to create the balance. Therefore, I believe in a controller. A higher being who may have been a bit of a scientist him/herself. Someone who made that balance and keeps it in check. Following that, if that higher being is brilliant enough to do that, then he/she can easily do things outside the balance. A spirit impregnating a virgin may sound incredulous, but think about it, can it not happen? You might not want to say a spirit can do it though xd . Anyways, what I'm saying is that the Bible isn't filled with nonsense and things that defy common sense, just things that we can't find explanations for. That doesn't mean it couldn't or didn't happen. That is how I see it. I believe in God the father, the creator of Heaven and Earth. I also believe in Jesus his son, who came to earth to die for our sins.

That’s the beauty of this planet and everything around us, those "random" events were not random at all they were a magnificent chain reaction that eventually led to our creation.
No one controls DNA, if you even bothered to pay attention in science and etc then you would know that its a natural thing that science can prove and explain.
Any Christian who feels like going up against people who spend there whole lives looking for answers, cures and etc with a book written hundreds of years ago by people who didn’t even know that diseases and natural disasters were natural is dead in my eyes
Unlike Christianity the Nevarien religion states that we were not created and that our existence is natural and not divine.
Hell the Aknavair are probably the only religious books that agree with what science has discovered so far, oh and if you really want me to bring up all the crapy stuff the bible teaches and how many times its been rewritten to suite the needs and teachings of the church then i suggest you find out how to make a time machine and go back in time so that you can find what the original bible was like.
