Akuki
I'd reccomend Death Note. It's a good series with plenty of suspense and a very good plot. It also has amazing good artwork in it. It's mainly about a College student named Raito who finds a notebook that allows him to kill anyone whose name he writes in it. This leads him on a crusade to cleanse the world of evil, but also leads him to lose himself. A good story so I'd highly recommend it.

death note is probably the only suspenseful/intellectual manga that i know of. i've reserved it each volume before it's publication date @ waldenbooks.

it just leaves me conflicted, because i hate light yagami... but i don't want L to catch him. lol.

and misa amane is just soo damn lovable, she kinda reminds me of death from neil gaiman's the sandman i don't blame the shingami who dies trying to protect her. she's just that cool.

M.I.S.S.Y
Anyone know if Legal Drug or The Dreaming is any good?

i've recently ordered legal drug from amazon, but have only recieved volume 2. i probably won't start it til i have all three.

but i can tell you already that since it's from clamp, it's incomplete and filled with angst.

i've read clover (also incomplete) though, and the art work is nice, but the focal point of the story is a repetetive song that sue (4-leaf clover) and a dead woman brain stormed. backstories are abound.

but like x/1999, legal drug, and clover.

right when you're getting into the meat of the character and stories.... your plate is taken away from you and your just staring at the waiter with a "WTF" face on. *sigh* i don't blame clamp though, i blame the magazines in japan that have copyrights to it that won't let the artists proceed with it.

I'd recommend Ouran Host Club. It's about a girl with a scholarship at a very prestigous school, who breaks an $80000 vase and has to dress up as a guy as part of the Host Club to repay it. I just picked up the first 7 volumes at CNA. <3~~

Also NANA or Paradise Kiss (because I love Yazawa Ai's art and her fashion designs for both mangas)

To the people questioning Legal Drug:

Author: CLAMP
Genre: Science Fiction/Paranormal
Rating: OT

I'm not going to include a summary, since I haven't read it in forever and I don't want to mess it up. But I can say its amazing. The style is different from CLAMP's other works, but none the less beautiful. It has hints and homosexual innuendos but it doesn't get past that. At least up to volume 3. I've been waiting for over a year for volume 4 and I still don't know when it will come out.

But if you're intrested in mystery and psychic powers you'd love it. Its addictive. I highly reccomend it.

And now I believe I want to re-read it. Oh my.

I would recommed Iron wok jan!(comicsone)
Jan is a talented young chef at a top class restaurant in tokyo called Gobancho. He is extremely arrogant and full of self conidence regarding his cooking technique. He's always challenges Kiriko -- a talented chef at Gobancho and niece to the head chef.
This is probably the best & most orignal series Ive read in a long time blaugh you would think that a manga about cooking would be borin but it's amazin plus Jan is a great character he's underhanded & thinks everyone below him rating 13+

Hotaru Hunter

PostPosted: Sat Jan 27, 2007 8:22 pm

Ok...in all seriousness (or unseriousness)...Gintama is my most favorite series ever! X3 I know it just recently came out in America, but I swear, it's the best. The art starts out kind of (really) lame. But Sorachi-sensei gets better at drawing as it goes. It may seem nonsensical in the beginning, but it does develop a awesome story...Which is why it got an anime, which is the one of the only ones I can watch without feeling really bummed at dumb producing. And I heart Yamazaki and his badminton-ness.

So yeah, go read it. The graphic novel's not out yet, but it's serialized in the American Shonen Jump, apparently. I wonder how they did with the translating...

Epitome of Chaos
I recomend the following!!
Hikara no Go (not as good as any of the others)

What??? I say Hikaru No Go's way better than most of those, only Bleach I'd say is better, even though I'm not a Bleach fan. I think Naruto's WAY overrated.

Anyways, I recommend Hunter x Hunter. By far the best manga I've ever read.

Company: VIZ
Age Rating: 13+
Story: Gon Freecs, a 12 year-old boy, aspires to become a hunter, the most prestigious and popular job in the world, in hopes of finding his father.

There's a lot more to that, but that's the main premise of the story. imo, Hunter x Hunter has got it all, except romance that is. It has great action that doesn't last any longer than it should, nice comedy which is very much needed along with complete cuteness, it's dark and angsty moments followed by bright and cheerful parts, outstanding characters, all lovable (only anime/manga where I actually really like some of the bad guys), and a wonderful story.

I reccomend Chobits! Anyone who knows me will probably know that i'm obsessed with it...*hint: My name!!!* But I have good reason!

Chobits
Rating: OT
Category: Sci-fi/Romance

It's about a poor 19 year old boy living in Tokyo trying to get into the university but nothing seems to be going right, until one day he finds a persocom in the trash. A persocom is a robot that are not uncommon in his day and age but are extremely expensive and very useful. He can't believe his luck and takes the persocom home but finds that this persocom differs greatly from the others...his persocom seems to have the ability to learn and feel.

Woohoo!!! Check out Chobits!!!! I really reccomend it!! It's soo adorable and Chi is the cutest little thing ever!!!!

Chobits was really really good!
i got into it by watching some of the anime first...but that just dragged on and on. so i switched to the Manga and loved it!

I would recommend "After School Nightmare"
this is something that i recently got into.

Rating: OT 16+

this is what it says on the back of the first one:

You have just awakened to find your darkest secret revealed to a group of people who would do anything to destroy you: your classmates!
That's what happens to Ichijo Mashiro, whose elite school education turns into the most horrifying experience of his life when he's enlisted to participate in an after-hours class. The only way for Mshiro to graduate is to enter into a nightmare world where his body and soul will be at the mercy of his worst enemies. Can Mashiro keep the life-long secret that he is not truly a "he" nor entirely a "she" -- or will he finally be "outted" in the most humiliating way possible??

they are super good so far! biggrin
