sunsetsmile We are different, and we have responsibilities because of that difference. We are responsible for everyone's and everything's welfare, for keeping things in balance. Are you arguing against yourself now? Yes, we are different, every animal is different than another, and has a uniqueness that stands out from all other animals. And yes ours gives us a responsibility. Including not letting the pandas die out because we are destroying their habitat.

There's two sides to everything. Ever think that maybe the animals aren't doing all the stuff we are because they know that in the ends it's more harm than good? Maybe the chimps were about to jump out of their trees and live on land, but then they realized what a stupid idea that is and hung even tighter to those branches.
I'd rather be an animal than a human. As an advanced civilization, many of us have lost our natural instincts. Many of us don't eat real food. Instead of living our lives, we are stuck in front of these boxes. We spend our younger years trapped inside of a school, then our older years trapped inside an office. All until we're too old to properly enjoy anything. We're overweight and we have cancers because of all the junk we put in and around our bodies. It's pathetic, and some people call it "superior".

I'm watching a movie right now, so I couldn't click the video, but I googled it and read a few articles. I think, why not keep trying? Pandas are cool and let's face it, nothing we do matters on any scale anyway. The money that gets spent on it doesn't matter, and whether we succeed or not doesn't matter. Humans will be gone soon enough, and the world will continue it's course. If we're gone and they die out, okay. If we're gone and they live, more power to them.
Very optimistic of you...

Just statin' facts. Every animal goes extinct at one time or another, as the world changes and they become unsuited and cannot adapt. I do think we should do our part to save the ones we effected. In the end though, nothing we do really matters. As it is, even the planet will only be here for a short time. Once the sun uses up it's life force, if humans and pandas are still around, they won't be for too much longer.

LorienLlewellyn I like humans. But we have to stop seeing ourselves as something different from and better than animals. We are animals. Are there times when we might have to choose to save one thing and not another? Perhaps. But usually all it takes to save an animal is to stop hunting it, or to stop cutting down it's home, or to stop dumping our waste in its drinking water. I don't think that's too much to ask. I would give anything to get some forced human sterilization around here. Let's face it, there are some people who absolutely should not be having children. I'm not saying we should sterilize everyone. But maybe convicted felons? People with a history of child abuse? People who had their other children taken away by Social Services? Those people who have 18 kids and plan on having more? Basically if we're pretty sure that putting another child with a person would be dangerous, I think we should probably consider intervening. i strongly agree,my opinion is that we should be more conservative to help save the panda!the panda has already been close to extinction once already.just because they're 'stupid' doesnt mean they should be the next to die.no offense to them though.

natural death or not, nothing deserves to die even to benefit in the survival of others. from what this fool is saying, since a baby cant defend itself or find a way to support its survival they should let it die out only because it does not benefit others, its complete freaking BS and he should be strung up and beatin' with a rubber hose....disgusting humans of whom only know how to destroy and feed there greed for power.

I think we should let them live. They have a life too and we humans shouldn't be so selfish.

The main problem I see with letting a species die out when we were responsible for the cause of their demise is the butterfly effect it could create. We hear about it all the time; some type of plant disappears then the little bugs who ate the plant die, then the larger creatures who are the bugs start dying off and so on, and that has a profound effect on the whole food chain.
I'm not a "panda fan" really but I am an animal lover and I believe in animal rights to an extent, but more than that I think we must take responsibility to try and fix what we break.

to see that something is wrong and do nothing in the face of it, is a form of evil in itself.
were a part of nature too. and just because were able to build machines and speak words, doesnt mean we deserve to live more or less then they do.

I'd also like to bring up they're also one of the major bio control for bamboo, a plant that is sprouting nearly uncontrolled in many parts of the word. But it doesn't do us much good since we can't transport pandas to take care of bamboo, since that is a human mistake as well. Never the less, they forget too that pandas have their own unique reproductive cycle, that is just not convenient to breeders.
