-Ellie-
the green haired

wonder

Ellie sat in the chair behind her counter looking out the large glass windows of her potion shop. on the shelved were sets of perfectly organized potions. Potions to make you, taller, shorter, fatter, stronger, skinnier, weaker, blue, green, polka-dotted, argyle, give you a bladder of bronze, and much much more. Ellie was leaning back in her chair putting her booted feet up on the desk in front of her in a very unladylike manner. Her dress was white with a blue bodice-like vest over her shoulders and torso. She wore a mage's cloak over her shoulders that was made of silky velvet. her boots were leather and tight on her legs, they were blue like her vest and went up to her knees. The boots were close to her skin, or at least the stockings covering her skin, these stockings were white. The majority of Ellie's permanently green hair was pulled out of her face by a silk scarf, the scarf was purple like her cape and tied under her hair, Her bangs stuck out over her brow, it was okay because she was manning the shop but if she was in the lab her hair would be completely slicked back as not to disrupt potion making or endanger an experiment.

Ellie's sleeves were long covering a plethora of burn scars from potion experiments. Her neck was covered for the same reason. It wasn't that Eleanor was ashamed of her scars, they just weren't appropriate for polite company, and customers certainly wouldn't want to see them. Ellie's father had scars like these. He, like Ellie, was a dedicated scientist. and his experiments with magic and alchemy were his life. Like Ellie, the potion shop was there to keep the laboratory open. Ellie sat up and looked at the oak door. if a customer dint' come in int he next... ten minutes she was going to close up and go perform an experiment int he back.

You know I try to be
All that I can
But there's a part of me
I still don't understand

((Oooh, shortish... sweatdrop ))

Rushed footsteps sounded behind Artemis. Instinct told her to turn around and attack. She almost did just that, but she was able to catch herself from the attacking part when she heard, "
SSKRAGH! SSKRAGH! SHTOP!" Her arm was also yanked behind her, completing her turn for her. She frowned deeply at the young girl in front of her, resisting her pulling. "Cghamp! Camp! Bahk come pleeze!" Art's expression softened at the words, but not by much. Though, her accent made her a little harder to understand, Itaz was just concerned with her leaving the camp site. It was sweet of her. There was just no need. The city guard trained daughter, and even farther elf trained, knew how to protect herself. She would make this youngling understand that, too. "I'm just going to find a lake, little one." She started in her most soothing voice, which was not very soothing at all. The years on the road made her throat just a little rougher than a woman's voice should be. "I have been traveling for years and I know how to protect myself. That does not mean I shall go weeks on end with out a basic wash, though. So, if you please. I'll be back shortly." Artemis then turned to walk way, fully expecting the younger girl to let go of her arm.

{{Not any smaller than this one. xDD; }}

Artemis's words were a little hard to follow but Itaz still understood the jist of them- she was fine and she didn't need any protection. When she finished trying to comfort Itaz she turned and made a movement to walk. The S'varian, however, kept her grip tightly around the other's arm and kept her feet grounded in place. In all honesty Artemis could have probably started walking and Itaz, being so light weight, would have only been dragged along. And Itaz was hoping dearly that Artemis wasn't going to do that.

"Bahd, bahd. Bahd shomeshing iz coming." Itaz told her in a pleading, almost begging voice as she tried to pull her back to camp. "Town, go we needz to. Pleeze, provogh kushra. Pleeze. You cahn haz bath forr prehty maghking thar." Itaz's head was bowed, her entire body trying to encase the woman's arm to keep her from moving. "Big rawk inzide or az well! Pleeze provogh kushra, pleeze. Needz to move we do now."

Itaz's next words made her stop just as much as her hands still clamped around her arm. "Bahd, bahd. Bahd shomeshing iz coming.Town, go we needz to. Pleeze, provogh kushra. Pleeze. You cahn haz bath forr prehty maghking thar. Big rawk inzide or az well! Pleeze provogh kushra, pleeze. Needz to move we do now." Artemis turned back to stare at the young girl. Art had traveled many places, not all, but enough, and she had yet to hear any of those foreign words. Now, she understood why she had never heard Itaz's accent before. Slowly, she tilted her head to look closer at the other. Her face that was not very clear in the night was easier to see in the dawning light. Her unnaturally pale face looked to be heavily painted on, for it was far too white. Artemis leaned in a little closer. Her eyes. Her eyes were also an unnatural color. Red. Like an albino, but no albino had to paint their face. Artemis's eyes narrowed as she continued to stare at Itaz's face."Who are you?" She asked suspiciously. "What do you mean by 'something bad'?" She waited for Itaz to answer her. She felt she would not move until she had at least some sort of answer.

Itaz physically flinched when the question of "who are you?" came out of Artemis' mouth. She was suddenly silent, head bowed but still wrapped around the other's arm.

"What do you mean by 'something bad'?"

"Tell'd you mee did. Itazalozgur Olsksal'kusesch..." Itaz withdrew a sharp breath before letting go of Artemis' arm and stepping back. Her face was still directed towards the ground and she held her hands in front of her. "Needz to move you do, now. Shomeshing hidez to under." She turned around and moved over to where her things were. The only thing not in place was her blanket. Aside from it everything else had been stored away carefully. "Raighn. Rain. It bahd vehry." She pointed a single pale finger up towards the clouds that were hovering miles above them as she crouched down. It hung there for a second before it fell back down to her blanket. She wrapped the blanket up and secured it on her backpack.

"Wors pha," she whispered underneath her breath as she pressed two fingers against the ground. Then she stood up, swinging her backpack over her back and then broke out into a sprint, heading strait for the forest.

((Hmmm. Not really happy with this post...Mind doesn't seem to want to think like Art very well at the moment....))

Artemis lifted her eyebrows at Itaz."
Tell'd you mee did. Itazalozgur Olsksal'kusesch..." Then her arm was released and the younger girl began to walk away from her. Art frowned at her. She was about to say that her name is not what she meant when the other began again."Needz to move you do, now. Shomeshing hidez to under. Raighn. Rain. It bahd vehry."Rain? That's what she meant by 'something bad'? It was so...small that Art almost rolled her eyes at it. She had walk many a-times in the rain, hail, snow and other weathers. She watched in irritation as Itaz rolled her blanket up. She wanted to lecture the younger girl, but did not find it in herself. 'She was just concerned', Artemis told herself. 'She doesn't know any bet-,' Her thoughts were cut off as something began wrapping around her ankles. Itaz was also running away from her too. Artemis glanced quickly at her ankles to see tree roots still wrapping themselves around her. At first, Artemis did not really understand how it happened or why, after she still did not understand, but her warrior trained mind kicked in along with her mother-ready side. Swiftly she slide out her sword and sliced away the roots in quick, trained movements. It would not have been good if she had cut herself. Looking back at where Itaz was, Art found that the girl was quicker than Art had originally thought. But still not fast enough. She caught up with her a few feet into the forest. She over took the younger girl, opting to block her path than grab onto her. "Stop!" She said in her rough voice. She kept her sword out in-case the roots attacked her again. Unintentually, she glared at the ground around her as if she suspected roots to just show up everywhere. "Why did you run away like that?" Artemis sighed, running a hand through her hair. "Fine. If you don't want to answer my question, just say so...But don't run off like that. If you had done that in a city with anyone other than me, you would have been suspected of something and brought in to be questioned." She continued glaring at the ground as words spilled out of her mouth. "Alright...Just Alright." Art relaxed her posture. She brought her eyes to look up at Itaz only to being them to the dirt again to continue glaring at it. She really did not like those roots. Like they were controlled or something.

{{I think I'm finally starting to get a hang on her accent... kind of... >_o }}

Much to Itaz's distaste her spell hadn't done what she'd wanted. It had kept Artemis from moving for a few moments but it hadn't been nearly long enough. Before Itaz could even get that far into the forest she'd caught up with her and was blocking her path. Itaz let out a surprised squeal before she backed up and then froze in place. She kept her head bowed and her shoulders were hunched up.

"I shorry," she whispered back. "Shthought angry you." She took in an uneasy breath as she grabbed her hands and started wringing them. "Pleeze, townz go we needz. Pleeze. Or 'ig rawk inzide."

She glanced up at Artemis and flinched when she noticed the sword that the woman was holding. She almost took a step back but caught herself and remained right where she was. "Pleeze... scared am I... pleeze mizz Aghrtemiss, townz go we needz."

Elli sat up, that was it! the was goign to the back to run experiments. Ellie walked over to the door and turned the sign to 'closed' Ellie then walked out back and began drawing in the grass with chalk. The potion's shop was on the outskirts, the lab was behind the shop there were many places on Ellie's lot that were used for different tests and other such experiments. This was the reason she wasn't directly in town, If she was all the buildings around her would be in ruins. He father's lab was similar, accept her father had a house nearby the shop, Ellie's home was just above her shop and sometimes she slept in her laboratory to observe immediate changes in magical herbs and test night-only ingredients in potions.

((Cutting out Itaz's words in this post. Doing a bumping job while I do this and it's just easier that trying to mix the colors.XD Ending part is really stupid and I can change it if it doesn't work well, but for some reason, it was something I felt like I could pull off.XD))

Artemis relaxed her stance a little and put away her sword. She still glanced at the ground, but not as intently as before. She smiled at Itaz in a form of apology. "I'm not mad at you." She said, beginning to walk back to the camp site slowly. "Why would I be? And yes. We can go to town if it makes you feel better. No need to be afraid of a little rain." She hoped her voice was soothing and again, it was on the edge of rough.

Artemis returned to the camp, hopeful that Itaz was behind her, to find that Eldeth was gone, leaving a little deer meat like an offering or her version of an apology for leaving without a word. Art grabbed a small piece as she moved to pick up her stuff. Surprisingly, she found a thick needle and thread in her things that she did not see before. Happy at the fact that she would not have to by a new pack, she set about mending the hole. Once it was completed in a few short minutes, she placed her things back inside.

The twenty-five-year-old turned her attention to the meat after glancing for Itaz. She wrapped the meat in some large clean leaves and also placed it in her pack. Though, she left out a bit for Itaz to eat as breakfast(can fix it if you want Itaz to already have grabbed some). With that, Art kicked some dirt over the ruins of the fire and stepped to the road. She looked up as she paused for Itaz. It was lighter now, but the clouds indeed looked dark. Maybe it would be a bad rain, but Art still felt that it wouldn't be anything worse than what she had already been through.

Artemis looked to Itaz and smiled. She hoped she could be friends with the girl. It would be dangerous for a young woman to be traveling alone. After all, Art knew from experience. Hopeful to the new cloudy day, despite the events of the early morning, Art took her first step, without really knowing it, to her newer and grander adventure filled with mysteries, revelations, and many, many new friend.

Artemis's following words were much softer than Itaz thought that they would be. Even so the smaller girl's shoulders remained hunched upward and head turned down with a look that was a mixture of fear, apology and guilt. Very hesitantly she followed Artemis to the campsite. She was surprised to see that Eldeth was no longer there but at the same time she was relieved. 'If she's not here then the rain can't get her... if she goes somewhere safe...'

Artemis then began packing- a lot slower than Itaz wanted. Despite the S'varian's words of warning the human had no idea what danger was coming for her. As Artemis put her things away she offered a bit of breakfast for Itaz which the girl mutely refused.

Finally Artemis finished what she needed to do and stepped onto the road. Itaz was half a step behind her, clearly eager to get started on moving somewhere that was safer. Artemis turned around for a moment to smile at Itaz and she could only stare awkwardly back in response. Much to Itazalozgur's dismay Artemis looked as if she was in some sort of state of happiness. 'Just hurry,' Itaz thought to herself as Artemis turned around and began walking down the road. 'Please hurry.'

As they walked down the road Itaz kept a close eye on the skies. She continued to renew one of her spells that let her hear the spirits and listened to their words for when the rain was coming. They began closing in on the town about two hours later- at which point Itaz was clearly starting to get nervous. She was walking faster, telling Artemis to walk faster and pulling on her to get moving. When they got within ten minutes distance of the town she seemed to both calm down and rile up.

Once they went into the town Itaz quickly began looking around for a place to hide. She went for the first building that she saw: It looked to be a small store that was placed on the outskirts of town. "Way thiz," Itaz stated as she ran up to a store that had "Closed" hung on the front of the door. She knocked on it urgently before she sensed another presence nearby. She walked away from the door and ran around the house just in time to find a woman with green hair drawing circles in the grass. "Hello! Shop open pleeze!"

-Ellie-
the green haired

wonder

There was an explosion from the back and smoke rose over the top of the shop. Elle looked at the crater in the ground coughing.
"Well that was a bad idea!" Ellie said, though she wouldn't know a bad idea if it slapped her in the face. Ellie stood straight and took off her safety goggles, she had the strangest little inkling that there was somewhere at the shop door wanting to be let in. Rather than do the common thing and walk in the back she walked around to the from, she stood on the wall by the door, where Itaz was.
"Well if you wanted to talk to me I was in the back." Ellie smiled walking up to the door jingling her store keys on their chain. She laughed a little and waited patiently for Itaz to step away from the door so that she could unlock it. She was interested in what an albino girl was doing in the sun and at her shop. this would be interesting to find out, Ellie rocked back and forth on her feet waiting. It was.. Sunday wasn't it? No, it had to be Thursday, she usually got a lot of customers on Thursday. However Itaz was the only customer she had seen all day, so, was it really... Monday? people didn't show up a lot on Monday, no, it couldn't be Monday, they town mayor would always come in on Monday for a hair tonic.
"Hey miss," She said to Itaz "what day it is, it seem to have forgotten."

OOC: Stupid coding is stupid, I'll ahve this fixed next post.
PostPosted: Sat Mar 06, 2010 7:49 am

{{I went ahead and fixed the coding for you. If this upsets you just tell me and I'll put it back to how it was before.

Also, from what Ellie could tell Itaz looks like an albino human.

Aaand if Artemis wouldn't let Itaz drag her in just tell me and I'll edit my pooost.}}

Itaz nearly jumped out of her skin when a loud booming noise roared through the air. She was about to run around the house to see what had happend but was stopped when a woman with green hair came walking up. She said something about wanting to talk- Itaz was too eager for her to open the doors to her shop to care to listen. She immediately backed away from the door so that it could be unlocked.

Then, as if to make the girl more stressed than she had been before, a tiny drop of water fell from the sky and landed on her hand. She brought her hand up to her face and stared at the small drop of water that had landed on the back of her hand. Then another wet dot appeared on her hand...

The door opened and Itaz quickly pulled Artemis inside. She practically slammed the door behind them and let out a very loud sigh of relief as she rested her forehead on the door.

"Hey miss," the sound of the storekeeper's voice made Itaz lift her head and look back at her. "What day it is, it seem to have forgotten."

"Noht know do, I." She replied in a quiet voice as she gazed at the shopkeeper before she moved over to where the window was, hand still resting on the doorknob. Rain was now pattering gently against the window, every drop as clear as crystal. She then turned around, looking between the shopkeeper and Artemis before pointing to the rain on the other side of the window. "Go outshide not, no mahtter anything."

Itaz returned her crimson gaze back to the rain. She watched it intensely, almost as if she were waiting for something. Only half a minute passed before she let out a low hiss from between her teeth as she backed away from the window and pressed herself up against the door.

The rain was turning red.

"Woah, that's odd rain. Ellie said looking out the window of her shop, thought the bustle she had unlocked the door and walked into her own shop.
"I simply mustget a sample of it!" She said turning to her counter, but something stopped her, she looked back to the girl hissing at the Rain.
"Hello, but may I be of assistance?" she asked kindly wiping soot off of her own face. This person was possibly here for a pigment potion? Ellie looked at Artemis as well "I'm Eleanor, I haven't seen either of you before." he blinked her large green eyes in curiosity. if only she had time to brush up on her social skills! Ellie lived alone, so she often forgot about common manners, and just toddled around like she was the only person in the world, on the occasion she would take to hiding behind the counter and waiting for someone to walk in to leap out and yell. This was only after winter, Ellie never got winter customers. She wondered why... While waiting for her answer form Artemis and Itaz her eyes began to cross themselves.
"Oh darn I thought I fixed that side effect." She said glaring, her nose was a very nice nose but it was a pain to be staring at it all the time.

I am standing up at the water's edge in my dream
I cannot make a single sound as you scream
It can't be that cold, the ground is still warm to touch
This place is so quiet, sensing that storm

((Well, normally, I don't think she would have, but let's assume Itaz took her by surprise....Which in this case, I think she would have.XD Ellie is an odd one.XD Art shall be demanding an answer now...Very, very quietly.XD

Oooh. I shall have Art sing, "Red Rain" next time I post. It's too good an opportunity to pass up.XDD))

Artemis followed after Itaz as she led the way down the road. She also rolled her eyes whenever she was told to hurry her steps, but she humored the younger woman anyways and hurried her strides. 'Really,' Art thought to herself humorously, 'It's just going to be a little rain.'

Some two hours later they came to a town, Art noticed that Itaz seemed to get...Well, Art did not know the words for it, but she knew that the girl was at least happy to get to a town. Oddly, Art said nothing as she just continued to follow Itaz around the town. When they got to the outskirts and Itaz stopped at a store, the other woman stood with her hand on her hip. If anything, she had to admit that the younger woman had an interesting personality, indeed.

When the explosion reached Artemis's ears, she had her sword out in a practiced motion. She readied her stance for trouble, but none came. Strangely annoyed that her newer adventure was not starting as exciting as she hoped, Art slide her sword back in it's sheath as a green haired girl came around from the back. Artemis blinked. Green? She blinked again. But before she could really process anything, droplets began and Itaz was pulling her inside the shop.

Art shrugged her shoulders when she was released and ran her hand through her hair. Something was bothering her. She did not know what, but it had been what was keeping her quiet the entire time Itaz was rushing them. 'It must be coming from Itaz.' Art thought dismissively. Art moved to the other window as Itaz hissed at the window. Nearly rolling her eyes again, Art glanced out the window. 'See, Itaz? It's nothing but a little rain.' She thought, then, the images entering her eyes made it's way to her brain. 'Red rain?'

Artemis's eyes narrowed to nearly slits. Her gaze moved to Itaz and stayed there. Slowly, she answered the shopkeeper, named Eleanor, in another practiced calm manner. "I am Artemis Bashere. The little one is Itaz. We just arrived in the town."

Again, Artemis only blinked at the weirdness of the green-haired-woman named Eleanor. Artemis's eyes still did not move from Itaz even as her mind wondered what was going on with the world. Still, she was a trained soldier and she needed an answer. This time, Artemis spoke only to Itaz. "I am fine not knowing your past, but I will not be in the dark about this. You know and I want an explanation." Artemis did not open her mouth to speak this. She said it only through her eyes, at least she hoped she did. She did not trust herself to speak the right words. Red rain was not a normal and everyday happening.

Well I've seen them buried in a sheltered place in this town
They tell you that this rain can sting, and look down
There is no blood around see no sign of pain
Hay ay ay no pain
Seeing no red at all, see no rain

Itaz didn't need to look at Artemis to know that the woman was going to be, in some form, upset with her. So she didn't raise her gaze. Despite this she could still feel the elder's presence on her back, demanding some sort of an answer.

"Not knowz," Itaz replied as she looked at the oddly colored rain that wasn't that much farther from her. "Feelz it, did I, ear... eaghlier." She looked away from the window and at the woman with green hair who was standing behind the counter. "Geht shample not, pleeze." She gave both the woman and Artemis a pleading look before she slowly looked passed the counter that was on the other side of the room. 'I can't read anything.'

"Shomething have skin?" She asked as she pressed her hands gently on either side of her face. It was odd to look at the woman because her eyes were crossed but Itaz had seen worse. "Dahrrker make? White lessh?" She let out a small exasperated sigh as she turned to check the window again. The rain was an even darker shade of red and had a thicker look to it. It was almost as if the water had turned into human blood. She bit her bottom lip before she squatted down on the floor and pulled her knees up to her chest. 'What am I supposed to do now? All of those people... they're dying now and I can't do anything... I wonder when the screaming is going to start...' she lowered her head until her forehead was on the top of her knees and hid her face. 'And when it's going to end... what am I supposed to do?'
