Quickly, as promised, Anthony popped by Karma's still battered house. It had been shored up nicely however and with some skill. He placed both of her items into one jar and set it beside another one which he had already collected from Emiko's.

Taking a quick snap of the Aerandir-to-be, he gave one to Karma and made his way back to the centre with the other and the jars.

From Two, To One

Turns out that after writing her entry in the Lodge, Karma had returned to her cabin. It had gotten a little late, thus the move. When she arrived at her cabin, she was about to shut the door when Anthony had arrived. After a brief introduction, he had taken her two jars and placed both artifacts into one jar. Karma grinned happily, and when she was handed the jar, she hugged it. "Thank you so much Anthony!" She called out as the Ar'Idil Administrator left.

Scurrying back into her faithful hut number two, Karma ploped herself down on the couch on the main level. Holding the writing materials in her hands, she started to write another entry.

Quote:
Well, I ended up leaving the Lodge, it had gotten a little bit late, so I headed to the cabin. When I arrived though, Anthony was there as well and he placed my artifacts in one jar! I'm so happy. They are sitting in my lap as I write this. They haven't changed much in appearance though. That's not surprising. Anywho, it's getting late and I must be off. Oh, before I forget, I finally filled the pantry.

Karma closed the book, and placed it, the quill and the ink on the floor, falling asleep on the couch. She was tired.

A Meeting By The Watchtower

Chao and Sanar
It was the first time the duo had really ventured towards the western side of Ar'Idil in quite some time, paranoia after the volcanic eruption not long ago had made Chao more than a little unwilling to approach Ar'Idil's own [supposedly] dorment volcaneo.

But here they were, situated up in the northernly watch tower.

Sanar looked out across the towards the large patch of green and pointed to it, hands pausing in the systematic distruction of one of Chao's old shirts, "n' tha'?" she's gotten a hold on very basic english by now, though sometimes fell back into clicking anyway.

"That's the forest, you went in there when you were a gryphon, remember?"

"Mmm..." she did, sortof, but now there was a name to place with it. "F'res," she repeated before glancing down and grinning as she noticed she'd pulled apart the lower half of the sleve. Taking the sleeve in both hands she pulled until the fabric began to come apart, the stitching that made it up much more obvious to the naked eye than before.

Chao sighed and mourned the loss of another good shirt.

Karma and Faust
After deciding that she and Fuast desparatly needed to get out of faithful hut number two, Karma had made her way out of Setone. She hadn't been anywhere except for her cabin and the Lodge, and frankly, the guardian thought that it wouldn't do either of them any harm if they explored a bit. This exploring had lead them through a large area of grass, and left them just a little bit away from a large tower.

"A tower?" Karma asked herself, "Wonder why it's here, what it's for. I'm surprised I didn't notice it before." Shrugging, and moving on, she tossed the thought away.

A brief five minutes later, she had arrived at the base of the tower. "Well, a close up of the thing certainly doesn't help." Moments after, she heard noises coming from the opposite end of the said tower. Furrowing her brow in confusion, she peeked around the watch tower's side. "Hello?"

Chao and Sanar
Sanar's ears flickered at the catches of sound on the wind and paused in her spreading of the fabric.

"'Lo?" she called back, reinforcing the call with a click incase it was one of her friends.

"Someone there San?" Chao asked, trusting her daughter's hearing better than her own.

Karma and Faust
Hearing the speaking, Karma walked to the other side of the tower. She smiled slightly, so there was someone there, and by the looks of it, it was a guardian and her Aerandir. "Oh! Hi, I heard some noises on the other side of this tower. I was curious if there was anyone over here." She said, slightly nervous, as she shifted Faust in her arms.

Chao and Sanar
"Oh, hello there!" Chao called warmly as Karma moved into view. "Mmm, yes, just myself and Sanar here. You're welcome to join us if you'd like, erm.. miss..." the other woman looked very familar but she couldn't place a name to the face.

Sanar's ears flickered throughout the exchange and she set the shirt to the side, shuffling off her mother's lap to crouch on more stable ground and look at the new woman. Her eyes caught upon the jar in Karma's arms and her wings fluttered in interest. Another smooth! Like the one Makai had come from!

Karma and Faust
Walking closer to the pair, Karma nodded. "Nice to meet you two. My name is Karma, and you?" Her eyes sneaked to the Aerandir child, the lady had called her, Sanar, right? He smile widened. "Sanar is an Aerandir, I presume?" Her gaze shifted to the jar that Sanar seemed interested in. One day, Faust would be a child. It was only after looking at Sanar again, that she noticed the Aerandir's intrest in the jar. Shifting it again, Karma moved it to her other arm, the one closer to Sanar.

Chao and Sanar
"It's nice to meet you Karma. I'm Chao and yep, this is Sanar, my Aerandir child," catching sight of the jar Chao brightened, "aha! I see you're an Aerandir guardian as well," she bent over to get a better look, only to be shooed off slightly by a fluff of Sanar's wings.

Huffing the teen rolled her eyes at her charge and merely resumed standing and looking at the jar, "if you don't mind me asking, what animals make up your Aerandir to be?" she asked, not recognizing either of the items held within the singgle jar.

Sanar grinned as the jar was shifted closer to her, reaching up as high as she could to touch it gently with her new hands, grinning at how much more she could feel with the tips of her fingers compared to the beak she'd used to have.

She shot a look towards her often treasure depriving mother and flapped her wings to keep her away. Then turned back to feeling the jar. Yep, it was definately another smooth like Makai's. She tugged on it gently, wanting to hold it.

Kara and Faust
"Yes, I just recently arrived. A few weeks ago I believe." Looking down at Sanar who was tugging on the jar, she knelt down, and carefully handed it to Sanar. "Be careful, okay?" She smiled at the Aerandir child before her. Standing up slowly, she looked back at Chao, looking at Faust out of the corner of her eye. It wasn't that she didn't trust Sanar, it was that she hadn't let go of Faust unless it was to be placed in a box. It was the first time anyone other than herself had held her dear soon to be Aerandir.

"Oh no, I don't mind at all. He's made up of the antler of a Reindeer, and the feather of a Ptarmigan." What about Sanar? Karma's curiosity got the better of her this time. "So Chao, what did Sanar come from?" She hoped that Chao didn't mind her asking.

Chao and Sanar
Sanar smiled and sat down in the dirt, cradling the jar in her lap. Chao discreetly nudged her with her foot to remind the child over the lesson in manners they'd had numerous times, "than'-oo," she replied prompty, looking up at Karma for only a moment before her attention latched back onto the jar.

Chao scratched at her chin, glad Karma reacted so well to Sanar's grabbiness but feeling the need to apologise anyway, "sorry about San's insistance, she'd quite... grabby at times. But she's very careful, espically with jars," she hurried to assure the other woman. Sanar tended to only tear apart things that were made of cloth, thank gods.

"Partmigan and reindeer hrm?" she struggled to recall those particular creatures then smiled as they came to her. "Can't wait to see what he.. or she looks like as a gryphon. I bet they'll be goregous. I don't suppose you've decided on a name yet...?" she ventured, not wanting to have to call the poor unemerged Aerandir it.

"Oh, San? She's a Guanaco Ostrich mix."

Karma and Faust
Holding back a giggle at how cute the little child was, Karma nodded towards Sanar, "You're very welcome." Diverting her attention back to Chao, she was glad to hear her reassuring words. "No, it's perfectly alright." She didn't have much doubt that Sanar would be careful with Faust in the first place; but it helped to hear from her guardian that she was very careful with jars.

"Yes, I can't wait either, I'm sure he'll look wonderful." Karma's words were filled with excitement, she couldn't wait to be taking care of an Aerandir gryphon. Her memory skipped back to the letter she had recieved from Anthony, "It's a male, or at least it has an 82 percent chance of being one. Pretty good odds I think, so I named him Faust." A grin of a proud mother, or in this case, guardian, slipped onto her face.

Guanaco and Ostrich? The guardian nodded, recognising the two animals. "Really? Wow, she's certainly a very beautiful, and cute child." Karma stated, admiring Sanar for a second before glancing back at Chao.

Chao and Sanar
Chao laughed and nodded, "the odds seem to be usually right, at least in all the cases I've heard. It'd be interesting if one of the gryphons emerged as a member of the opposite sex." Interesting... but unpleasant, choosing names was hard enough without having to go back and choose them twice.

"Faust... such a cool name, does it mean anything in particular?"

At the mention of Sanar Chao laughed, though her own pride in her daughter slipped into the tone, "cute, perhaps, but a menace towards any clothing with even the slightest of rips. Or anything shiny. My little one likes to hoard things and take them apart. Thankfully jars are one of the few exceptions."

Sanar's ears flickered and she looked up, catching the adults attention on her. They probably wanted the smooth back....

The child pouted she shifted so that her back was to them, fluffing her wings in response to the looks as if to ward them off. She liked holding the smooth.

Karma and Faust
Agreeing, Karma muffled another giggle, "Yes, that would certainly be interesting, probably very awkward as well though." She could only imagine that scenario. Though what would happen if it did? "I wonder if it will ever happen."

Abandoning her thoughts, she shook her head, "No, I'm not very good at finding nice names with meanings, so I just choose ones that I think will fit." She scratched the back of her head, slightly embarrassed that the name had no significance other than it was pretty.

As Karma listened to Chao she picutred a large pile of shiney jewlery with ripped pieces of fabric scattered around it. "At least you know where to find something if it disappears. Does she use them for anything?" The thought of a child hoarding shiney things and fabric was amusing, yes, but perhaps there was a reason for it? She glanced at Sanar, and watched her turn her back to them. She was definatly cute, and by the sound of it, an interesting Aerandir to care for.

Chao and Sanar
Chao smiled and shrugged, "eh, I dunno, half the time I find a name I like that just happens to have a pretty meaning. Better that you've named him something you like and think will fit."

Pausing Chao frowned and shrugged helplessly, "see, that's the thing, half the time I don't know what she does with it. She has little stashes hidden both at home and in little nooks around the island. The shiny stuff she hasn't quite found a use for... that I know of at least. I think she just likes to hoard it, but the fabric she takes apart," she gestured to the partially destroyed shirt Sanar had been working on earlier, "I think she's trying to get an idea of needlework because of her job as a weaver."

Sanar smiled when she went undisturbed and began to scoot off, she would go and show the smooth her stash! It wouldn't try and take the things in it like her Mu did.

Karma and Faust
Karma nodded, it made sense. Better to have a nice name with no meaning at all, than a name that made no sense except for the meaning.

The guardian's eyes widened slighty. All over the island? She was starting to see what Chao meant, it would be really hard to try to keep track of everything. "She's a weaver? That's so neat!" She glanced at the shirt that Chao had motioned to. "Well, except for the loss of clothing I guess.. How's she doing with her job?" Karma had never quite gotten the hang of sewing, or knitting. The only thing she could do was crochet, but that was a while ago.

Her attention, however, had been temporarily diverted to Sanar. She was so caught up in her conversation with Chao, that she almost didn't notice Sanar scooting off with Faust. "Chao? Where is Sanar taking Faust?" Karma knew the Aerandir wouldn't do anything with Faust, but, she was curious of where she was taking him.

Chao and Sanar
"She's doing alright with it I guess, but she seems more interested in tearing things apart than making things. A friend of mine, Sin actually, knits, I'm going to corner her and ask if she'll help get Sanar started with that," Chao replied with a nod and a smile, wishing she had been better aquainted with her daughter's craft. But oh well.

Glancing at the Aerandir child she blinked and shrugged, "I... don't know."

Sanar stopped suddenly as the jar in her hands began to glow. She smiled, feeling it pulse against her hands and drapped her wings over it for a moment before pulling them back and turning around, smiling at the adults, "shhiiiiyy smoooth," she forced out and held up the glowing jar to show them.

"Oh my..." Chao blinked in surprise then grinned happily, turning to Karma, "that means Faust is going to emerge soon!"

Karma and Faust
Karma focused on Chao once again so she could properly respond. "You have to start somewhere I guess, so maybe for her, it's ripping things apart? I don't know." Shrugging she continued on. "It's great that she's going to get some lessons though. Is she excited about learing how to knit?" Karma inquired, wondering if each Aerandir's job was an activity that they enjoyed. She guessed it would be, but you never know.

Peering back at Sanar, she saw that she was holding out Faust. Karma stared at the jar, he was glowing! It was a pretty blue glow to boot. She was entranced by it and nodded to Sanar. "It, certainly is shiny!"

Coincidentally, the guardian was about to ask Chao what it meant, when she told her without a question. Addmitedly, it took a moment for her brain to register what Chao had just told her, but soon enough, it clicked. "E...emerge?" She stuttered out of sheer excitement. "So, that means he'll be a gryphon? Wow! Just, just wow!" Karma darted over to Sanar, and knelt down beside her, grinning happily, staring at Faust.

Anthony Blakewell

Strangely well timed, the glowing jar decided it wished to become a gryphon. The glowing ether inside seemed to take on a thickness which it had not had before as the ingredients within dissappeared. The fog-like substance began to writhe inside the jar and under the scrutiny of the watchers decided now was the time to emerge.

The new safety glass bottles shattered rather more easily than the old and the fog dribbled through the fingers of the onlookers, touching ground with a rather solid thump.

Slowly, the form sprouted a multitude of gangly appendages - Long legs, antlers, flickering ears and as it shivered slightly, it's fur came to life and shimmering. In a moment it was done. Faust was now part of the physical world.

Chao and Sanar
Sanar grinned, wings fluttering in surprise and happiness as the gryphon emerged. Placing the not broken smooth down on the ground she pressed her lips together and clicked warmly in greeting.

Chao gasped and smiled, then turned to Karma, clasping her hands, "congrats hun! He's goregous."

Karma and Faust
Karma's eyes grew as she gazed intently at the foggy mass fall to the ground and take shape. When the process was complete, she gasped and, not being able to cantain herself, hugged the newly formed gryphon. "Faust! You emerged! You're a gryphon! Oh, you're wonderful!" Looking up at Chao, she grinned and nodded, "Yes, thank you!"

Faust, more than a little bit surprised by the woman who had just embraced him, let out a slightly distressed deep chirp. It bent it's head down, releasing itself from Karma's grasp, and trotted about in a circle. He was definatly happy to be mobile.
Taking note of Sanar, he chirped and walked to her, nodding his head in what seemed to be either a greeting, or thanks.

Chao and Sanar
Chao smiled and put her hands behind her head, just taking the time to enjoy looking at the two Aerandir.

Sanar smiled at the new gryphon and nodded her head back. She approached slowly and put out a hand to smooth the plummage besides the horns, alternating between clicking and speaking in low, slightly rumbling tones. She was saying hello and welcome, in her own way.

Karma and Faust
Karma smiled, and stood up, standing beside Chao. It was certainly a sight to see, Faust leaving his jar, and it was a wonderful experience to see him form from fog. So she was content, gazing at her charge.

Faust lowered his head, and made a deep grumbling noise, contented by the smoothing. His wings stretched out, and resumed their position, folded on his back within moments. Lifting up his legs one at a time, the gryphon stretched his newly formed body.

Chao and Sanar
Chao smiled and her eyes momentarily strayed to her wristwatch. Crap, nearly dinner already! Loki and Rein would have her head. Or maybe just her ankles as they were easier to reach.

"Karma it was great meeting you and getting a chance to see Faust emerge, but I'm afraid San and I have to be heading home as it's getting close to dinner time. San!" she called to her charge.

Sanar giggled and watched at the gryph stretched and rumbled, ears flicking to catch the sounds before her mother called her.

Giving Faust a last pet she nearly made to go to her mother before her eyes fell to the hexagonal glass of the jar. Grabbing one two pieces she hastily put them in her woven bag, hugged Faust's muzzel briefly and trotted to her mother's side.

"Hope to see you around, don't hesistate to stop by if you ever need anything," Chao said with a last wave, a motion that Sanar copied, and the duo began to make their way back towards Setone.

Karma and Faust
Karma nodded, only noticing that the sun was starting to set. "Alright then. It certainly was nice to meet you. Bye Chao, bye Sanar!" She waved to the pair as they set off to the gathering of huts.

Faust chirped happily, and looked over his shoulder to catch a glimpse of the gryphon and her guardian walking off. He peered at Karma, and trotted in front of her. "Nwark?" Tilting his head to the side, Faust looked up at his guardian.

Taking notice of her gryphon staring at her. She muffled a giggle, and bent down on her knees. "We had better get going as well you know." She stroked his head for a moment before scooping up the rest of the glass shards. She didn't want someone to end up hurting themselves.

The gryphon observed the lady curiously. Soon he became bored of just standing, and romped around in the grass until Karma called him over to her so that they also could make their way to their cabin.

On The Way Home

Th sky had become much darker than when Faust and Karma were at the tower. This, and several other things seemed to astound the new, young gryphon.

Faust bounded about in wide circles a few feet in front of his guardian. His head was constantly moving around, trying to see everything that surrounded him at once. His eyes jumped from one thing to the next, examining them as much as one could, in one second. Occasinally, something in particular would catch Faust's eye. When such a thing was found, the little gryphon would bounce, nudge, and 'Nwark' until he recieved a sufficient answer from Karma, explaining what it was. So far, the candidates of such behaviour had been a little clump of grass, a small rabbit, the stars, a stone, and the remains of some sort of odd fruit.

~*~

Karma grinned as Faust poked at a mushroom with his hoof. It was taking much longer than she expected to reach her hut once again. It wasn't that surprising though, what with trying to keep an eye on the ever wandering Aerandir. "Come on Faust, we're almost home."

The gryphon's ears perked up and he trotted over to Karma's side. "Nwaa? Nurr..." After such an eventful evening, Faust couldn't wait to finally be able to rest his tired legs. Opening his mouth wide, the yound Aerandir emmitted a quiet hum; his version of a yawn.

Peering down at her charge, Karma couldn't help but feel kind of guilty for letting him stay up so late. She watched Faust swerve almost dizzily around her legs, and once he was in front of her, she bent down and scooped him up. "Getting tired, aren't you?"

The little gryphon managed a slight nod and a soft "Nya".

"Yes, I thought as much." She continued towards the cabin, occasinally adjusting Fasut in her arms. She pondered about several things while she walked to Setone. She thought about what job he would end up having, about what it would be like to raise him. All sorts of things popped into her mind, and in a short ten minutes Karma had arrived at number two. By this time, Faust was sound asleep, and Karma was half-way there. They both made a speechless agreement that the tour of the cabin would have to wait until the morning after.

Karma carried Faust through the door, up the ladder, and gently placed him on one half of her futon- she was too tired to walk over to his. She laid down on the opposite half, and just as her head touched the pillow, she immediatly fell asleep. Apparently, the journal entry would have to wait until the day after as well.

Berries, And Tree Climbing

Karma and Faust
Karma opened the door to the outdoors, and stretcher her arms above her head. The early morning fog was just starting to dissapate, when Faust sprang through the enterance. Karma grinned, and waved to her young gryphon. "Morning Faust. You up for some more berry picking?"

The little Aerandir nodded his head furiously, and trotted over to the stairs. Carefully, remembering his past lesson, the gryphon climbed down the stairs. "Nwark!" He chirped excitedly at being able to go down faster than last time.

"Good job Faust!" The guardian grinned, and quickly followed her charge down the few steps to the ground. Sleepily, she leaned against a wooden support for her cabin, and watched her little gryphon trot about. It was earlier than she usually got up, and so she was still mostly asleep.

It was quite apparent that Faust was doubly excited for the task that lay ahead of them. The last time he had gone berry picking, he had really enjoied it. So this time it made sense that he couldn't help but display his excitement. Faust was running around in circles and figure-eights, while he waited for his guardian to fully awaken.

Air and Oleo
Air woke up early as always, this time however, it was due to something else besides custom. Her stomach was growling loudly, if something else were living with her it might have ran away scared. The last of her food was gone, and no matter how lazy she was, this time there was nothing else to do but actually look for some.

She took off her pajamas and dressed in some jeans and a clean shirt. She took the jars that had been assigned to her and placed them inside a small handbag. When she got to the door she took the lime-green backpack that was besides it on the floor and then swung the door open.

She walked down the stairs, carrying her now usual boredom when she spotted, no more than a house away, a person and a gryph. This was the first time she saw a real gryph, before it had only been in pictures and her imagination.

She was shaking in excitement as she got near. Upon approach she noticed that the person was actually a girl. "G-good morning!" she said, still a few paces away. Not sure of how either of them would react towards a new person.

Karma and Faust
Faust immediatly noticed that there was someone, who seemed to be much more awake than his guardian, coming nearby. His pacing ceased, and was instead changed to a gallop as he raced towards, and around Air. "Nyurr!" He chirped a loud greeting to the new person, and came to a halt beside her.

It took the sleepy Karma a while to realise that something was going on, and once she did, the guardian was slow to react. "Wha, what?" She shook her head, and slid off her glasses to rub her eyes. "Faust, what is it? Faust?" She replaced her glasses, and refocused her eyes on Air and her own charge. "Oh!" She formed a slightly sleepy grin on her face. "Hello there! I see you've met Faust... Sort of." Karma jogged over to the new face, and stretched out a hand. "Hi, I'm Karma, nice to meet you." With her not outstreched hand, she tucked a piece of hair behind her ear, and produced a, finally, not sleepy smile.

Air and Oleo
"Aww cuute!" she said at the galloping gryphing, forgetting about her hunger at the time. Once it stood besides her she was tempted to pet it's head. However she was full of excitement, respect and a bit of fear for the creature. She gave him a big smile as her hand got near it. Hoping her hand was not to be pecked, or bitten. She was about to touch it when the girl called "Hello there! I see you've met Faust... Sort of."

"Hi!" Air replyed smiling and took her hand without a second doubt. "I'm Air, it's nice to meet you too. Is he yours?" she said motioning towards Faust "he's soo cute! can I touch him? does he bite?".... suddenly feeling some pain in the stomach she added by mistake "do u have any food?".... "uh, no, nevermind, didn't mean to ask that" she said with a slight blush in her face.

Karma and Faust
Faust leaned his head to the side. He wouldn't bite the girl, unless she was evil... But even then, he might only give her a little headbutt. They young gryphon emmitted a soft cooing noise, and touched his antler to Air's hand. "Whirr?"

Karma nodded, beaming. "Yes, he's mine." She was very proud of her little bundle of never-ending energy. At the next few comments, she grinned, and laughed lightly. "Thank you! Of course you can touch him, he won't bite at all. Though he might nudge you a bit occasinally." She gave Fauset a quick pet on the head between his par of antlers. It was his soft spot, he always loved being petted there. "As for food, you came at the right time. We were just headed towards a berry patch that we found a few days ago."

Faust's small ears perked at the mention of berries. He glanced up at Air, and, positive that she would follow, started to trot forward slightly. The young gryphon couldn't wait to start with the berry picking, and the thought of having someone else there just seemed to be more enjoyable.

Karma shook her pointer finger for a second, and touched Faust's shoulder. "Faust, just a little longer, okay?"

The gryphon gave a deep chirp, but stopped his motion. He wanted to go now, but he didn't want to leave Karma behind.

The lady zipped back to her cabin momentarily, and was back out in a snap, basket in hand. "So are you a guardian Air?" She asked, placing herself beside both Faust and the new lady.

Air and Oleo
Faust's cooing got Air's attention away from Karma almost immediatly, the touch of his antler gave her a feeling she could not understand. She wanted to hug the gryph right there.

"Berry patch?" Air had heard of berries before, she had seen a few being sold at supermarkets, but had never actually tasted one. "Think there's enough for all of us?"

At this time Faust took off, only comming to a halt when Karma called him. Air could see Faust's exitement and smiled at him, hoping for the day her own gryph would be with her.

"Uh, yes, I'm a guardian too" she smiled answring Karma's question. Opening her handbag she reveal it's contents, two small jars that seemed to glow with and odd cleanness. "Seeing Faust I can hardly wait!" she said with a giggle.

"So, are we going now?", she said motioning Faust forward. The company of them both made her feel much more welcome in a place that had seemed somewhat cold a few days ago.

Karma and Faust
Karma nodded. "Oh, I'm positive that there'll be enough. Don't worry." She peered into the handbag as Air opened it. "Wow! Your artifacts look beautiful!" She grinned, remembering when her young gryphon was two small artifacts. "It might be a little bit late, but congrats, and welcome to Ar'Idil!"

Faust too, sneaked a peek at the glass jars. They looked pretty, that nice Aerandir he had met, Sanar, she would probably like them. Nodding to himself, he declared mentally that he would have to show her the new shineies. Moving his bird-like head away from the bag, he lowered it to the ground. Faust hoped that it wouldn't be too long before they could actually go to the berries.

Karma smiled, she could relate. She remembered when it was her waiting for her artifacts to merge. Karma gazed at Faust for a while, reminicing. "Yes, I'm sure that when your artifacts do merge, that they will become a beautiful gryphon!" She replied, still gazing at her own Aerandir, Air's last question was floating about in her head, but the answer, yes, just wasn't coming out for some reason. She was too deep in thought at the moment.

Faust honked somewhat quietly, and decided that waiting and listening to the two ladies was getting just a little bit boring. So, taking the lead, he opened his wings, fluffed them, and started to move. Faust began at a slow trot, then quickly advanced to a rather fast canter. "Nyurk! Nwarik!" The gryph screeched to the pair of guardians, and paused, waiting for them to catch up.

Karma was thrown back to reality when Faust bolted forward. Air's question was still fresh in her mind, and so she answered right away. "Well, looks like we're going now! Come on, I get the feeling that Faust won't be waiting for much longer." Karma grabbed Air's hand, and started after her charge.

Air and Oleo
Air smiled and answered with a quiet "thank you! and don't worry, you're no late at all, actually I haven't gone out of my house since I arrived" she said scratching her head, a bit ashamed. She took advantage of Faust comming close to watch inside the bag and petted him soflty on the head, the feather were very soft, different from what she had imagined.

Karma seemed to be lost in her thoughts, when she finally said "Yes, I'm sure that when your artifacts do merge, that they will become a beautiful gryphon!" .

"I hope it will" With a sudden reminder from her stomach she forgot what it was she was going to say next. It didn't seem t matter, when she looked at Karma, she was once again lost in thought. Faust's sudden movement woke her up.

They both started their walk after Faust, after Air had carefully closed her handbag to keep the artifacts from falling. Air loved the smell of the fresh morning grass and everytime they gave a step a stronger scent seemed to fill the air.

"Are we too far from the berries?" she asked, with how she was feeling she didn't even care if she had not tasted berries before. She had to have something to eat. Even with Faust moving forward and the sound of strange birds and insects there was nothing else Air could think about but food.

Karma and Faust
Faust, satisfied with his human friends' response, continued to lead the trail they blazed. For the first little while, there was nothing much to see except for vast areas of grass. Then, when the small group arrived at the forest, there was the occasinal hop, or duck, so that a branch or root related accident would be avoided. Faust's mind was set on his mission ahead of him. Find the berries. He didn't even notice the large pinecone that had fallen in front of him.

Karma nodded absentmindedly as she answered, "Not too far, from the looks of it." Even though she wasn't the one who had found the berries in the first place, she had remembered their vague placement. "The bushes are just a little bit further into the forest." She motioned towards Faust, who seemed to be figuring out whether it was left, or right that they were supposed to go next.

The Aerandir peered to his left and right sides. He was supposed to turn one of the ways, but he couldn't remember which at the time. Completly lost for the time-being, he gazed at his guardian, and made a low, deep, "Whrr." It didn't seem to work for a while, and so, the gryphon trotted over to the pair, and stared at them. As if they would know whether to go left or right.

Air and Oleo
Air followed, the sight of the Aerandir was all she needed for the moment. She enjoyed watching it run and prance around. When he stopped and turned around, Air understood that he had no idea of which way to take. Looking at Karma she said "We can go either way, if it's the wrong one we can always turn back!" she smiled shyly.

Karma and Faust
Karma nodded her head. "I agree, one wrong turn isn't the end of the world." She looked down at Faust. "Do you remember the way now?" Karma bent down a little bit, so she was some-what level with her grypohon's eyes.

Faust's Ptarmigan face contorted into a look of concentration. Thinking back, the Aerandir remembered coming to the forest, going a little bit in, and then, he turned left? He went over the memory again, and nodded to Karma. "Nyur!" Soon enough, Faust was bounding through the forest once again, turning left.

As she followed her young charge, Karma looked over at Air, "So, how has life been treating you so far?"

Air and Oleo
Following closely she answered "Ah, same as always" she sighed. "Not too good, not too bad", however a smile was quickly draw on her face upon remembering what she had in her handbag. "What about you?" she said, looking up at the braches of the trees, she loved this kind of places so much.

Karma and Faust
Karma nodded, "That's good. I'm doing well." She glanced over at her new friend, and followed her line of sight. As Karma saw the branches of the trees, a thought sprang to her mind. It hadn't really occurred to her before, but she remembered it was fun the last time she tried. "Hey, Air, do you like to climb trees?" Of course, the last time she climbed a tree, was when she was about eight.

Air and Oleo
Air stopped walking all of a sudden. "Climb trees?, I really haven't done that in a long time" and she really meant . "Why? feel like doing some tree climbing?" she smiled at the thought, even though she doubted she could actually go very high.

Karma and Faust
"Well..." Karma grinned sheepishly, "I thought it might be fun. I remember that it was always fun when I was younger so..." The lady looked away momentarily, and quietly called over her gryphon. "Perhaps, if it's fine with you, we could do some tree-climbing?" She peered up at a rather large, looming tree to her left, and a child-ish sparkle appeared in her eyes.

Faust, beckoned by his guardian, trotted over to the pair of women and stood, quite confused, at their side. "Nwar?" He tilted his head to the side. What on earth were they doing? He thought that the three of them were headed to the berries.

Air and Oleo
As if understanding Faust she said "Well go for the berries in a while, don't worry Faust". However not leaving anyone much of a chance to reply she already was on top of the lowest branch of a tree, and looking for the closet one to climb onto. "Maybe we'll find something interesting up here, or at least a pretty leaf"

Karma and Faust
A broad smile appeared on Karma's face. She gave Faust a pat on the head, and quickly followed Air. "Yeah! I hope so. I'll bet if we get high enough, we could get a nice view as well." Placing down the basket she held, Karma grabbed onto the closest branch beside her, and hoisted herself onto it, searching for the next one.

Faust gave a deep chirp, and padded over to the tree's trunk. He plopped down on a patch of soft, dewy grass, and rested his head on a large root. Emitting a quiet snort, the gryphon gave in and waited for the pair to climb the trees.

Air and Oleo
"A nice view!! I handn't thought of that, I want to go as high as I can now... still doubt it'll be too high" she said suddenly stopping after going up just three branches. "I think I'm stuck" I don't see any other branch that can hold my weight up here"... "Awww, I should have chosen a bigger tree" she said going down just to start climbing up the same tree as Karma a few seconds later.

Karma and Faust
Karma peered around herself, attempting to find a branch to move to so Air could climb the same tree. "Yeah! It'd be a really nice one, especially with the clear skies, but..." She reached out to a thick branch above herself, and pulled, succeeding in only leaving herself dangling. "You're probably right, at least for me." Karma struggled to pull herself onto the branch. "I don't think I'd ever be able to ge to the top." The lady shrugged off the fact, and sat on the branch, waiting for Air.

Air and Oleo
Reaching the same branch as Karma she finally said "Maybe we should just sit here and rest for a while. Faust layed down too, let's wait until he's rested too" she smiled. She liked the wind on her face at this height, and the smell of trees and grass. She carefully sat down, making sure not to break any of the jars. "Can you see the berry bushes from here?" she finally asked.

Karma and Faust
Karma nodded, and slid into a semi-comfortable position on the branch. "Yeah, we probably should." She glanced up at the next branch, and shuddered, it was way to far up for her liking. "I don't know about you, but I doubt I'd be able to go any higher anyway." She mumbled, and peered down at Faust, who was resting against the tree trunk. A grin slipped onto her face, and for a brief moment Karma mentally photographed her gryphons peaceful state. Then she squinted her eyes, and searched the area around her. "Actually," she started, then looked at Air. "I think I do see the berry bushes. They're not too far from here, or so it seems." Her thoughts darted back to Faust. "Should we go collect some now?"

Underneath the two chatting adults, Faust lay, almost motionless. His ears and wings perked, however, when he heard of the berries. Were they going now? His head lifted from the lush green grass, and searched the area surrounding him. Jumping to his hooves, Faust chirped, and shook himself free of the grass' dew.

Air and Oleo
"Yup" said Air as she carefully made her way down. "I just remembered I'm hungry, so the faster we get there the better" she giggled. Once she was down she petted the griffs head and stood, making sure the contents of the jars were okay. "So which way?" she asked.

Karma and Faust
"Okay!" Karma grinned and followed suite, carefully, climbing off the tree. Her friend's hunger comment made her giggle as she landed on the ground. "Well, I'm sure that neither Faust or I want you going hungry, so..." The guardian looked down at her little charge, who was click-chirping excitedly. "Let's go!" Karma pointed to a slightly twisted path just ahead of them.

"Whurrrr." Faust hummed happily when he was petted. Noticing the jars once again, the young gryphon peered at them, and gave them a gentle nudge. Soon after nudging Air's jars, he bolted forward onto the trail Karma had pointed at. "Nyar nyar!" The excited Aerandir paused on the path, waiting for his human friends to catch up.

Air and Oleo
Air giggled when Faust nudged the jars and the followed after the griff. "Faust's so nice! I hope my little one is like that too!" she said smiling. "I just hope I like berries, I dont remember tasting berries before" .

When they catched up with Faust she waited for Karma to point the way again.

Karma and Faust
Hearing Air's comment on Faust, Karma beamed like a proud mother. "Thank you! I'm positive that your young one will be a wonderful little Aerandir." Scooping up the basket from the ground, Karma followed Faust, and waited a moment when she arrived at his side. If he knew the way, it was probably better to let him lead. "Well, I guess we'll find out if you like them soon enough. If my memory serves me right, the berry bushes should just be around one of the next corners."

Faust raised and lowered his legs, and immediatly burst into another dash when Karma and Air reached where he was standing. "Wyar, nyar!" The somewhat hyper-active gryphon had stopped on the corner that the berries were around, and chirped excitedly. The Aerandir waited for Karma and Air once more, continually alternating between ruffling his wings, and lifting and lowering his legs.

Air and Oleo
Faust seems in a hurry, said Air giggling. Running up to where he was "so where to now?" she had never seen berry bushes before, so if she didn't ask there was almost no way she would recognize them even with berries covering them. At her old home she was known for not noticing even the most obvious of things. "C'mon karma, ur lagging behind" she smiled, knowing the reason for this was that she had run to catch up to Faust.

Karma and Faust
Karma had to giggle, "Yup, he really likes those berries, and being the leader." The lady took a quick break in her speech so she could catch up to Air and Faust, berry basket swinging as she held it loosely in one hand. "So, naturally, he has to be fifty feet ahead at all times." She grinned as her young charge once again bolted from sight. "Just go around this corner here..." The guardian jogged towards the area that Faust had just dissappeared around. "And there they are." Smiling, Karma waited for Air, and then darted to the blueberry bushes in the center of the small clearing.

The hyperactive gryphon seemed to be trying to impersonate a speeding bullet. Everytime Air and Karma would get close, he shot off into another direction. "Nwark!" He'd chirp energetically to his human friends whenever he stopped. This time however, the little Aerandir could see the clearing that held his favorite treat, and his friends seemed to be taking longer than normal. So, he offered them a chorus of high and low pitched clicks, chirps and whirrs, and bolted to his tasty blueberries.

Air and Oleo
Air followed, smiling widely at the sight of the blueberry bushes. "Are those it?, the things on the bushes?" she hadn't seen blueberries like this before, the closest she had ever been to a blueberry was the name written on a pancake box. Remembering that some plants were poisonus she asked before even touching them, "can I eat all of them? or are there good and bad ones?", she blinked, showing her obvious lack of knowlodge on the matter of blueberries.

Karma and Fuast
"Nyuu!" Plucking a juicy blue fruit from the bush, Faust pranced to Air, and raised his beak up, waiting for her to accept his gift.

Nodding, Karma wandered over to a pile of berry-remains. It seemed the local animals had gotten to them before they could. Oh well, there were always more. "Yup, they may be small, but they're really tasty." She picked a few from the bush, and tossed them into the basket held between her hand and her hip. " Well, as far as I know, anyway. Come on and try one." Tossing a few more berries into her basket, the guardian purposely picked up a reddish one and showed it to Air. "You just don't want to eat any unripe ones, they're kind of red, so it's easier to tell them apart. But other than that, all of them are edible." Karma smiled, and popped a few blueberries into her mouth. After swallowing, she grinned at Faust, cute, he was sharing.

Faust gently nudged air twards the berry bushes, and once again offered the fruit to her. "Nyu." He didn't quite understand her hesitation, but persisted nonetheless.

Air and Oleo
After being nudged forward Air finally understoon and took the berry from Faust. "thank you!" she said petting his head. She placed the berry in her mouth, trying to get used to the flavor.... however she was unable too. "Mmm, nice!" she said to Faust just to make him happy, but truth was she didn't really like them. "I'll help you pick some" she said taking only the blue ones and placing them on Karma's basket.

Karma and Faust
Obviously pleased with Air's reaction, however false it was, the little gryphon chirped in delight. Beginning to eat some fruit for himself, Faust sat down on the cool grass next to the bush.

"Thanks Air!" Karma said, and added a few to the ever-growing pile in the basket herself. "Just a few more, and it should be full." Taking a momentary break, the guardian gazed up at the sky. "It's geting darker." She said quietly, noticing that, other than it's colourful reflections on the clouds, the sun could barley be seen. Karma nodded to herself, and got back to putting the last few fruits into her basket, they would have to leave soon after it was full, otherwise it'd be hard to walk home in the dark.

Air and Oleo
Looking up at the sky following Karma's gaze she said "Yeah!, I didn't notice how late it was" She picked a few more and placed them on her basket. "We better head back before it gets too dark" she said standing up and waiting fro Karma and Faust to follow her example.

Karma and Faust
"I was having so much fun I had only just noticed it a while ago." Adjusting her basket, now full, comfortably on her hip, Karma started after Air. After a few steps, she looked behind her, and waved at Faust, telling him to come. "Come on Faust, it's getting late and I don't want to
end up walking home in the middle of the night." The guardian waited for her young Aerandir gryphon to come bounding.

Faust's ears twitched, as he heard his keeper call him. "Wyuur.." He slowly turned around, and stood on his four hooves. With a quick shake of his body, the little gryphon pranced to his guardian. Faust's actions were only slightly less energized as he realised that he was actually tired. Cooing deeply, the small Ptarmigan-Reindeer mix slowed his pace, and walked comfortably beside Air and Karma.

Karma's mouth formed a small grin, and she stroked her gryphon's head fondly, silently telling him that they'd be home, and sleeping soon enough.

Air and Oleo
Air followed besides them, letting out a small yawn. Checking on her bag every now and them to make sure her jars were still ok. "Did we walk too far into the forest?" she asked, tired of walking and the way back.

Karma and Faust
Karma looked over at Air and Fuast, they were both tired and, honestly, she couldn't say that she wasn't. It had been a fairly long and exciting day, and all of it had just compiled together to make the time wonderful, but nevertheless tiring. "Well, not too far, but I wouldn't be surprised if we spent a little bit too much time in the forest." She gave a slightly nervous grin, and continued to move onwards, stifling a yawn.

Faust whirred deeply, and gently, taking large and slow paces as he too moved forward, following the two humans by him. Occasionally, the young Aerandir's head would droop, then spring up quickly like a bouncy ball, keeping him from sleeping.

Air and Oleo
Air was glad when she finally saw the trees clear away, now she had a good view from the forest edge. The windows from the houses at the village had a nice yellow glow, the darkness was now taking over. "Good thing were almost there!" she said slowly walking forward, dragging her feet, which just seemed heavier by the moment.

Karma and Faust
Giving a nod of agreement, Karma stretched out her arms above her head before extrapolating. "Yeah, I can't wait to fall down on my bed." As Setone came closer and closer to the trio, Karma aimed her body over to cabin number two, her hand gently guiding Faust with his antlers.

Faust had now given up attempting to keep his head up in the air. The gryphon's head now sagged near the ground, leaving only a few centimetres between the two. Faust padded slowly along, being guided by his keeper as she gently pushed his antlers in a direction. Occasionally, the young one would make a soft, light whirr that was almost inaudiable.

Soon enough, when they arrived at the center of the small cluster of cabins, Karma smiled tiredly at Air. "Well, I guess this is where we part. It was lots of fun." Letting her smile droop ever so slightly so she could concentrate, the girl adjusted the basket balanced on her hip
.

Air and Oleo
"Yes, I guess this is it!" said Air smiling back. "We should go out again sometime, maybe when my little one arrives" she said patting the bag where she carried the jars. "C'ya later Karma! good night faust!" she said giggling at the small gryphon, the poor thing seemed as tired as she was. "take care you two" she finaly said turning around to face the path to her own cabin.

Gryphons From Nowhere
Quote:
Journal,
Well, today was quite odd, actually. Faut and I kept on hearing these strange screeching sounds coming from somewhere. For quite a while we weren't even sure of where the noises were coming from, but Faust fixed that pretty quickly.

It turns out that we have a backyard! I hadn't the slightest idea that we had one before, and now that I think about it, I'm quite surprised that I didn't notice it before now. Anyway...

Once Faust and I managed to get into the backyard (Which would look really nice if it was just cleaned up and re-planted. Sadly gardening isn't one of my strong points. Perhaps there's someone here who can garden and would be willing to help?) Faust quickly made a new friend. Strange place to meet someone, I know, but it turns out that not all gryphons come from artifacts. I think.

We found a gryphon, a rather small gryphon that has already taken to copying what Faust does. I've named her Naima, and I have to say, she's turning out to be quite a hyperactive little ball of fluff. As I write, she's prancing around in circles chasing a miniscule ball of dust.

Anyway, I must be going now, I get the feeling that Naima won't take well to not having a bed.

As Karma laid down her sparkly purple ink and her journal, Naima bounded onto her lap, ecstatic that there was someone there to pet her soft fur. Naima puurred happily when her wish was granted, and quickly fell into a deep sleep. It had been a fairly tiring day for her. First she had to deal with her purple envelope being carried about by different drafts and breezes, and then it landed quite unceremoniously in a bush! To say the least, Naima was not a happy kitty when the sharp branches poked her all over the place, and so she screeched and screeched. Turns out that it worked fairly well, seeing as she was now curled up on a warm body being petted. Ahh, what a day. The gryphon was so tired that she didn't even notice when she was gently slid onto one half of Karma's fluffy pillow, giving a soft mewl as Karma whispered, "Good night" to her and Faust, who was curled up on his star.

The 'Pleasurable' Rafters

Quote:
Well, I wasn't that wrong yesterday. Today certianly couldn't be described as normal, but then again, it wasn't overly filled with excitement, and I can't say that I wasn't glad about that. I ended up having some nice quiet time, and got to read some more of my book. Faust ended up having a small snack of the berries that were left over from a while ago, and Naima, well, she had fun enjoying the rafters and all of thier, err... Pleasures.

Neither Faust nor I were very glad when she dragged in a dead bird. Gross. Though Faust was momentarily curious of what the strange stinky, feathery thing was, as soon as he got close enough, the gryphon backed away from the thing, thankfully.

Anyway, after a mostly nice day, Faust and I left the cabin (Naima was taking one of her many catnaps.) and sat on the porch for a bit. He seemed quite interested in the little purple flowers that were growing around the cabin. Sadly I couldn't really tell what they were, but they did resemble an herb, I think it might've been Rosemary, but I can't be too sure.

Well, that was today, I hope to write again soon, and I have no doubt that I will.

Dropping the quill, ink pot and journal down on the hardwood porch at the front of the cabin, Karma laid down on the flat surface, and closed her eyes, relaxing.

Faust cocked his head to the side, and nudged at his keeper curiously, getting not much more of a response than a light giggle, and a pat on the head, the young gryphon stood, circled, and laid back down, leaning slightly on his side. Staring up at the sky, the Aerandir cooed, and pondered what it was, but soon enough, he ended up sleeping, as did Karma.
