Niksia
The typical sound of a voice asking you to wait for the beep, though the words differ the message is the same, imagine the fun that'll be had when someone has to listen to you later.

'Hello? I saw your ad for a babysitter but I noticed a few things you might want to know about.

Exactly what sort of child needs salt water? You do realize that makes most people rather ill.

And security, please. At least leaving a number is better than your address. Adverts are great, aren't they?

I'm curious as to exactly what sort of 'child' you need looking after. I don't work, so I don't care about hours, nor do I worry about what time of day or night. Pay is not an issue either, which would surely affect your sitter hiring as it is.

And, you know, the salt water.

If you're still interested, even just to speak to me, my number is...'

Niksia sighs deeply, before reciting the number for the cell phone she kept about her person. Ironic, after lightly telling off the advert placer for doing the same thing. The so called private number was becoming less private by the day. She was probably going to have to invest in a normal house phone, at this rate.

She hung up, wondering if she'd done the right thing.

'I need more hobbies.'

A shrill beep resounded ripping through the hushed home of We’rika. The cacophonous noise signaled yet another message being left by a hopeful “babysitter”. Josh’s voice crackled to a vibrant life through the small speakers of the answering machine:

“Umm-uh, Hello? I was calling you about your ad for a babysitter. I would be up for watching the little guy! He sounds quite… adorable actually,” Josh paused in his message to gather his thoughts instead of just lavishing the answering machine with a jolly conversation, “I run some children’s tennis lessons over the weekends, so I’ve had a good amount of experience with watching rambunctious kids. Pay isn’t much of a problem with me. I can guarantee I’ll be one of the cheapest workers around. You can reach me at 785-7616.”

Josh’s voice snapped off as his message ended and was replaced by soft static then the creeping silence previously hanging within the home. He placed his cell phone back into his pocket with a long sigh, “I hope I didn’t sound too dumb.”

Ebony Shade
Ebony lightly drummed her perfectly manicured nails on her kitchen table, the consistent rhythm oddly muffled by the newspaper she was drumming across. Her ear pressed against the black cordless phone, listening intently to the rings as she awaited an answer.

It may have seemed odd for someone of Ebony's profession to be calling in on a simple babysitting job as it wasn't as adventurous nor as exotic sounding, but drastic times called for drastic measures. Not much was coming her way these last couple months which left her with more free time than she was use to, and besides who knew what kind of people these were. If they were in dire need of a sitter, perhaps they were workaholics whom made a good enough living to afford such a luxury or maybe they were just that, totally loaded. It wasn't the money she'd earn if she got the gig that interested her, which was a touch ironic on her part, but it was the amount of money that she could potentially gain from scoping out these people's place. Not to mention whatever valuable trinkets she could manage to "relieve" them off before the day was done. And besides, how hard could it be to watch some kid for a couple hours?

After what seemed like an eternity, the answering machine finally picked up after the owners hadn't been able to answer their phone's insistent rings or had blatantly and decisively ignored them altogether. Whatever the case may have been, a voice asked Ebony to leave a message after the beep. Something of which she was more than willing to do with use of her mastery of the professionally toned voice.

"Good afternoon. I'm calling to inquire about the ad you placed for your need of a sitter. My name is Miss Ebony Shade and I am free most mornings and afternoons until 7 PM." Okay, so far so good. At least she was being truthful. And it was probably a good idea that no one could out right figure her for thievery by just her name as it was all on the hush hush and none of her clients knew her real name, least of all her face. So that was good.

That british laced voice continued on, "I absolutely adore children. I've worked with them for a good number of years now." Well guess it was only a matter of time. "Eight to be exact. Though those last five years was more spent as an in-home nanny." Oh the lies! How could she lie so well and right on the spot like that?! "Oh but look at me just rattling on. My apologizes, we can discuss this in a personal interview. My number is..." Ebony managed to rattle off a few numbers as her home phone, a real working number that really was her home phone mind you. At least she was able to close with another truth, however assuring that could be.

Jae Eun Kim
An interesting ad had popped up in the paper. It seemed almost too good to be true, too. Thre couldn't be any harm in inquiring though. Seven hours....it did not sound bad at all. Well, she could use a slight distraction from the bore of everyday life. Looking at the red-circled ad in the paper, she flung herself back on the couch as Mana poked out of his bowl. Eyeing the little chimera, she grinned and grabbed her handphone from the coffee-table where Mana's bowl was sitting.

"You look like you could use some fun." Mana chirped with glee as she held the phone to her ear.

She listened with mild amusement at the accent coming from the other end, and waited patiently for the beep.

"Hello! My name is Jae Eun Kim. I'm calling about the the baby-sitting advertisement in the paper. I'm actually a college student right now, but I enjoy working with kids. Although......the bit about the salt-water is a tad curious. Anyways! I have some experience with children, I've worked at children's summer camps for several years back when I was in Korea! Well, I have some more questions, but I suppose those can wait for when and if I get a call-back. Well, if you'd like to get in contact, you can reach me on my hand-phone at...." she slowly listed her hand-phone number. "Hope to hear from you!"

Sliding the phone shut to end the call, there was barely a moment to respond as Mana jumped out of the bowl to splash her with watery love.
