Finnegan laid down after Adela. He put his head back, closed his eyes, crossed his ankles, and folded his arms across his chest. He began to silently tap his left foot and began to gently bob his head.

Adela continued to ponder when she looked over at Schraeder. Yes, indeed he was asleep. Heh, that's cute. Lucky he can do that. She turned to look at Finnegan and saw that he hadn't fallen asleep. I guess he's just listening to music in his head. She couldn't begrudge these men their comforts. She wanted to do something calming, but she found herself thinking of the battle they went through. Damnit. These fights not gonna get any easier than this. She tried to calm down though it wasn't really working. She just wanted to find out what they planned on doing.

As relaxed as he was on the outside, Schraeder's dreams were something else.
Always a vivd dreamer, Schraeder was one of those rare ones that was conscious of the fact that he was dreaming. He accepted it philosophically and went with the dream, but for now it was beyond difficult.
He saw his family. They were smiling, in the home country, working on the farm. Schraeder ha always been more of an intellectual, but even he had sometimes enjoyed physical labor. And they all looked so happy. He reached out a hand for them
he was gone. He was standing alone on a hill, overlooking a vast expanse of grass. Dead, nothing within sight but that brown grass. He shivered to be so alone, but he knew it was a dream. There was no way
the Adams were talking to them. Schraeder tried to speak; nothing. There was the explosion from the party, and the split-second fear and concern at all of his unfinished affairs. There was
the Hosts were attacking them. Mutants, freaks, assaulting the only people that could possibly understand his current terror and confusion. For the calm and objective Schraeder to be so scared and lost was a huge deal. He felt a savage fury, rising to protect those that understood him. Adela was being attacked by that bladed guy! Schraeder
alone on the hill again. He had failed to protect them. He fell to his knees and broke down.
---
In the physical world, he was twitching slightly and sweating.

Adela nearly dozed off, when she felt Schraeder twitch by her side. His hand had brushed against her shoulder. She looked over and saw that he was frowning. Ah. Nightmare. She sat up and gave him a slight nudge. "Schraeder. Wake up." She kept nudging him until he woke up. Whatever he was dreaming wasn't good.

He awoke, barely suppressing a gasp of terror. He rubbed his face, still on his back.
"What's up?" he asked casually, looking over at Adela. "Something happen?"

She looked concerned. "You looked like you were having a nightmare. I didn't think it best to leave you in it." She paused for a moment. "You okay?"

"Oh."
He looked away. "Yeah, I'm fine. Nothing to worry about, just thinking about the fight in there." Don't lie. "I'll be OK in a bit. It doesn't happen often." Why are you lying? That's not good to do to people.
"How about you?" he asked, desperate to change the subject. "You doing OK?"

Adela raised an eyebrow but didn't push the subject. At the change of subject, she shrugged. "Not hurt that much, other than a few light nicks here and there from earlier." Which were healed out of simple concentration. "I'm more worried about my folks. They must be wondering what's going on and where I am." Her mother was probably going to scream and fuss at Adela, but that was just her way of caring. I think.

Schraeder reached slowly into his pocket and pulled out the same cell phone as before. "Offer's still open," he murmured sleepily.

Jon couldn't help but shake his head and turn away as they all chose to rest and fool around with so many questions unanswered.
"You all do what you want, I'll be remaining at the edge of this place until they return, preparing for whatever comes next."
His blade may never rust, but his skills might, should he grow too lazy. As Joneleth reached the outer edge of their small meeting site, he took off his large red jacket and placed it softly onto the ground then withdrew his saber. He closed his eyes and lowered his body into the "En garde" stance. He did not speak as he began his routine, the only voice was the one inside his head.
Parry One! He swung his blade, hilt facing to the left. Riposte! He lunged forward, sending the sword at full length, penetrating the warm air. Recover! He returned to the En Garde position. Retreat! He took two quick steps back. Pris d' Faire! He spun his blade in a blindingly quick circle, batting away an imaginary weapon. Lunge! He swung deep, cleaving the space from invisible shoulder to toe. Recover!
His routine was strenuous, but it barely worked a bead of sweat on his forehead. These warm ups were necessary to a quintessential degree, if he couldn't have the stamina to handle an imaginary foe, he wouldn't have a hope against a living one. He continued on as he glared into the distance.
Advance!

Adela took the offered phone with a bright smile. "Thanks!" It didn't seem to have reached him since he had closed his eyes yet again. Eh, let him sleep. But I'm gonna have to move out of here for this fun conversation. She got up and walked off a little - not too far that they couldn't yell for her, but not close enough to hear the conversation if spoken in low tones.
She took a deep breath before dialing the number. Luckily, she had service here. I really hope they're not gonna scream. "Hello?" It was her mother on the phone - she sounded like she'd been crying. "Hola, madre." "DIOS MIO! JOSE! VENG AQUI!" Yep. Her mother screamed. She could hear scrambling in the background. It's probably dad and my brothers. If anyone had paid attention to her, they'd have noticed that she held the phone away from her ear. Her family was that loud.
"Vaya...I'm fine. Okay yeah, I should have called," she paused. "Well it's not like I had a phone earlier," she snarked. "No no, don't blame yourself Dad. I wanted to come. And hey, I'm fine." She huffed, "I'm serious. I'm okay! Uh, where am I?" I'm outside of Area 51 in the desert trying to save the world. "Uhhh...I'm not sure." Just a small white lie. A babble of spanish came out from the other end of the phone. "Hey! I had to get out of a burning building, alright? I didn't take the time to ask where I was." Another small white lie. "Look, they just want to make sure I'm okay, which I am, before I head back home. I'll be back home shortly and explain everything to you from there." She paused, "No you don't need to pick me up. I can get home on my own. This isn't my phone, so I'm gonna have to call you back later. I promise, alright?"
Another long pause. "Mmkay. I'll be back as soon as I can. Till then." She hung up and let out a frustrated sigh. How the Hell am I going to explain all this to them without sounding crazy? Actually, how in the world am I going to get home from here?

Schraeder cracked one eye open to watch for a little, then chuckled.
"I'm not really sure what good you think that will do. Sure, it's pretty, and it might come into play briefly, but it's certainly not a gamebreaker against those other guys."
He yawned. "You'd do better to work on your Sigil powers."
He appeared very suddenly in front of Joneleth, prompting him to stop his pretty pattern. Schraeder was totally relaxed as the sword came within inches of hitting his skin.
Then he blinked over to Adela, took his phone with a smile, and reappeared in front of Jon. "I'm pretty sure that I could beat you if you're not using whatever power you got."

Adela jumped when Schraeder popped up in front of her. He'd come a little too close, so she had to step back one. "Whoa! Thanks for the phone again." She watched as Jon practiced and Schraeder talk to him. The hell does he think he is, telling us whether we're fooling around or not? Family was important, and if the guy thought that was foolish, then he could shove it.

Finnegan cracked his left eye open to look at Schraeder, "Mind if I use that phone next?" he asked, "I'm sure me mum and bro would like to know what's happened to me."
He opened his other eye and turned his gaze over to Jon as well as Shraeder, listening quietly to his remark.
"Does it really matter who can beat who if we're on the same side, now?" he said in the middle of a yawn, "Besides, I could whoop both of ye powers or not." he added with a smirk. He sat up from the rock, rubbed his eyes, and cracked his neck.

"I don't really - "
Blink
" - think you could, guy," Schraeder said, suddenly behind Finnegan with his hand on his shoulder. "But yes, here's the phone."
