Kat's first reaction was to send the bottom of her heal smashing into the poor schoolboy's ankle, before she took off running. Having been chased many times before she aimed for a crowded place, heading into one of the stores lining the street and slipping into the crowds to stay low.

Having been chased many times before she aimed for a crowded place, heading into one of the stores lining the street and slipping into the crowds to stay low. Rook followed her, swerving through the crowds. "Goddamnit, Kat! I slide for springing you and you do this s**t!"

Rook sped up, keeping her in is sights, and swore lightly as she slammed the door. Rook quickly slipped up to the door, his finger sliding into the shape of a key blank. He pressed it into the keyhole, letting the finger take the shape of the pins inside the lock, and opened it swiftly, closing it behind him.

Rook quickly got a face full of mop as Kat attempted to defend herself, searching for a better weapon in the process.

Rook coughed, taking the mop and driving it to the side, swiftly shifting into his own form. "Jesus christ, Kat! You kiss a total stranger but you mop the guy who set you free?"

Kat tossed the broom to the side. "For crying out loud, Rook, why didn't you tell me it was you? I mean really, where did you get the stupid idea that coming up to me and saying my name without revealing yourself would be a good idea?" Kat leaned against the supply closet wall, her arms crossing as a slightly grumpy look came over her face. "How the hell'd you find me anyway?"

"Well, didn't quite occur to me at the time. I was quiet, though, in my defense."

"tch, not much of a defense." Kat rolled her eyes. "You didn't answer my last question, which happens to be the most important one, birdbrains. How did you find me?"

Rook waved his hand. "I followed Jeffery's trail and covered his and mine when I came looking for you. Lincoln thinks I'm dead, so I can keep you guys covered if you can help me out."

Kat raised an eyebrow. "You did what? What, Jeffery left some breadcrumbs or some such crap on his way home? And are you seriously telling me you can follow a damned trail and then sweep it up afterwords without killing off witnesses?" Kat shook her head, taking off her hat a moment. "Are you even sure Lincoln thinks you're dead, or did you just play the act?" She pushed off the wall and started for the door, "We should head back to Roxanna, this is turning into one hell of a knot."

He replied, shifting forms once more into that of a security guard, "I took great care to eliminate the paper trail, as well as throw them off of hunting our's. Jeffery's a football coach. It's easy when someone like him spends a day training hometown heroes to justify almost anything he ends up doing. They'll be after us, not him."

"Yeah, you remember how Jeffery and I disappeared off of the middle of a boat? We 'drowned' too." Kat wondered briefly what paper trail could have possibly existed, considering all that interacted with Jeffery and Roxanna was Roxy's car dropping him off back at the beach with his car. But she decided not to ask, instead walking out of the store back towards Roxy's house. "If you think they'll leave Jeffery alone, then you don't know Lincoln. Hopefully he's not connected any time soon."

Kat bristled slightly, but allowed the act to carry through, despite her dislike of being caught , whether it was real or not. By the time they'd left the store and were walking back to Roxanna's she'd pulled her hand back. "Missy, you had to call me missy? God I've always hated that term." She rubbed a hand over her wrist, "It's what my instructor always used when I was in trouble."
