Ellandra bit her lip as the pain passed for a moment. "Faolan - I . . . I don't mean it - it just - it hurts!" Her eyes watered and she turned to the door as a doctor and nurse (not the one from before, thankfully) entered. Then the pain took over her world again.
Rhian blinked and turned to Ziazan. "Of course, sibling-Ziazan." Why wouldn't she be?

Faolan looked up at the doctor. "About bloody time." He moved to let them take over.
Zia sighed. "You seem . . . strange. Distant."

Rhian blinked. "I'm sorry, I don't mean to. . . I guess it's just because Mama's not with us." It was more tan that, but eally, no need to say. She just hoped Mama and the babies would be okay. That was what mattered - that and Faolan being happy too.

"Faolan's with her," Zia offered lamely, leaning back against Keagan, eyes closing a little when the old man rested an arm around it. "You don't always have to be so far away from us, sister."

Rhian shrugged, looking at a promisingly sweet-looking drink in the soda machine next to the snack machine. "Yes I do," she said simply. It was just a fact, after all. "No need to be in the way or bothersome."

Zia frowned. "No one's called you such. Why do you always have to be this way?"
"Oi, bairns. Donnae be like tha' t'each other. Should be supportin' an' comfortin' each other durin' this, not arguin'," Keagan said, patting Zia's stomach. "Behave yourselves."

Rhian ducked her head. "I'm sorry, Mister Keagan," she said, going bacck to sit down by them - or at least relatively close. She didn't say anything more, just watching and waiting for everything to be finished up and for someone to come and tell them what was going on.

"It's alreet, dearheart," Keagan said, settling an arm around Rhian's shoulders. He figured her moodiness might just be growing pains, the girl feeling a bit displaced by the new babies. He looked down at Zia still sitting on his knee and resting back against him and poked the boy in the stomach. "How about you an' your sister gae t' th' gift store here an' buy your mama somethin' nice, eh?" He fished out some money and held it out to Zia. "Ought t' gi' you somethin' t'do other'n worryin' an' Ah'll see if'n Ah can get a word or two out o' a nurse on how Elle's doin', yeah?"
"Alright, Granda," Zia said, taking the money and hopping off the man's lap. It looked over at Rhian. "You want to come along and see if we can find matching stuffed animals for the twins?"

Rhian nodded. "Yes, I'll go; I'll help you find something, sibling-Ziazan," she said, hoping her older sibling wouldn't bring up her por mood while they were looking for gifts. This was silly - she should be happy that she'd grown, that she could come, that she could go shopping for Mama, that the babies were coming and Mama could be happy, not being all distant.

Zia smiled a little, though worry still showed in it's multicolored eyes. "You probably know more of what they might like. You know Mama better'n me," it said, taking her hand to walk to the gift shop. "I kind of wish Lee and Lauss were here, too."

Rhian shrugged. "Mama will like whatever we pick out, though she'd like something cuddly most of all, I think," the flutterby said, accepting Ziazan's hand. "And it's better that they're not; Miss Lee would prefer sleeping and doesn't like babies, they scare her, and Lauss-teacher wouldn't know what to do - and would probably try to follow a doctor around or something." She did wish Lauss-teacher had come though. . .

"Still, they're family. They should be here," Zia said peering through the windows of the gift shop before walking in. "I imagine both will be sad they missed the event." He picked up a pair of rabbit plushies that were identical, save one being blue and the other pink. "What do you think of these?"

"He's not having babies," Zia said, looking at the rabbits. "I was thinking these would be more for the twins, anyway. I don't really know what to get Mama."

Rhian blinked. "Those *would* be for Mama. The babie won't be able to appreciate them like Mama would. Both Mama and Faolan are supposed to get presents too, just. . .. . bab-themed ones." Looking around she spotted some bubblegum cigars, and peeked at them. "Would Faolan like those?"
