The pendragon series was okay, but it was made for a younger 13-18 ish group. If you want a more cultured read, might I sugest the book(s)
Milroy the Magician by Paul Theroux
The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger. (One of my favorites)
Circle, Coven & Grove by Deborah Blake----------------------------------- (( Both great Wiccan Reads)) The Solitary Practitioner by Scott Cunningham-----------------------------

Gone Lord of the flys
They both are somewhat similar but I love them both. I had to read lord of the flys in school.

Greek Mythology is awesome. Also read Sherlock Holmes from a Study in Scarlet to Case Book (It's a Classic) and Prophesy of The Two Sisters if you want something dark.
