Alfred frowned and gave up with even attempting setting up a new game as Arthur was obscuring his vision by messing with Texas!
He's acting like a baby, jeez.
"It's not so hot- Whoah!"
Yes, it was his kinky version of being drunk. He was already stripping and Alfred had to do something before he would completely embarrass himself, not to mention America as well.
America lifted England up so that he was sitting upright. He removed his shirt and placed it on Arthur's shoulders, trying the best to revive the English gentleman's dignity.
Alfred had only just realised how quite the room had become. The only noises were the American hip hop in the background and Arthur's drunken song. This was a strange role reversal. America was never the sensible one but the one who was pretty childish and still needed Arthur to look out for him. Not that this was the first time he had to take care of a drunken Arthur...
America gave France a bitter smile who chuckled quietly. Alfed heaved Arthur up onto his feet and suddenly realised it meant he had to support the brit's wieght.

"C'mon Artie, lets go somewher more comfortable..."
America gave the classic cheesy grin to the other nations as he waited for Arthur to respond and hopefully walked in a general direction away from this place.

Unexpectedly, I held you tight. That all of a sudden! Eh?

Arthur wriggled in Alfred's grip, moaning and whining, slurring out nonsense, his voice a somewhat muffled drone. Shrugging his shoulders, he tried his darndest to wrestle that shirt off. He really was hot, y'know.

"Bu' Alfiiie~ Ah'm ho~t. Jus' c'z yer all 'nd'p'ndant now dun' mean yer c'n t'll me whut t'do~"
His expression reverted to a childish pout, his red cheeks getting even redder as he dropped from side to side, trying to fix a gaze on the American. Incoherent babbles and slurs were all that he managed to come out with as Alfred brought him to his shaky feet. He wobbled, falling and leaning all his weight onto America.

"C'mon Artie, lets go somewhere more comfortable..."
He pouted somewhat angrily and flailed his arms attempting to fight the taller nation off, but in his drunken state, he was no match. As weak as a kitten, but no where near as cute.

"Bu' Ah'm comfor'ble here~ St'p dr'ggin' me. Dun; wan' go nowhere~ Uni, help meee~"
He reached his arms out in front of him, waving them to the bright blue unicorn that stood in the corner of the room, socialising with the fox from earlier and other little sprites. The unicorn, frankly, couldn't care less, and continued to laugh with the fox.

"My dear Artie, you've gotten yourself into a bit of a stick again. I must say, we find this rather amusing. Go with dear Alfred, I'm sure he'll help you."
The unicorn mocked, sending Arthur into an upset rage, tears welling up in his eyes. Again, more babbling nonsense spewed out, this time more irked, arms flailing wildly. Sticking out an accusing finger he mumbled out,"... Yer guys suck." before falling onto Alfred and dropping to the floor, eyes slipping shut and breathing lightly, just like a baby.

America didn't have to fight the drunkard much longer before he fell to the floor. He seemed to be unconcious already.
Alfred sighed and scratched the back of his head. He couldn't help but smile as he watched Arthur sleeping peacefully.
Well at least that sorts out one problem...
The American lifted Arthur up into his arms.

"Yo, guys, just get back to whatever, I'll be back soon."
Alfred carried Arthur to the spare bedroom and lay him down on the bed.
"Honestly Arthur, you're such a lightweight." Alfred laughed as he wiped away the stray strands of hair on Arthur's brow and kissed it gently. "Well at least you made it, that's all that counts. I love you, even if you are already out of it."
Even if Arthur was concious, he was far too drunk to know what Alfred was doing nor saying. Alfred was grateful for that.
~~
The party was well over by now. It was dark but Alfred couldn't sleep. Arthur must have been sleeping for 6 hours by now.
His house was back to the same sorry state it was before the party so Alfred had to carefully tread over the food packages till he reached the fridge.
His stomach growled angrily at him as he searched the fridge for anything to eat. Though he didn't have much luck, someone must have raided it during the party.

"Aha! Ice cream!"
If it wasn't McDonald's ham burgers, Alfred was a complete sucker for ice cream!

It was dark. Really dark. And Arthur's head was pounding. Green eyes slowly flicked open, a groan mumbling out of the Englishman as they did so.
Oh, Jesus f***ing Christ, what the hell...?
A hand made its way up to messy hair, rubbing his head hard. It was then, when he lifted his stiff arm up, did he realise he was topless... What the hell happened? His head was still spinning as he tried to recollect the last few hours of his life. It proved annoyingly difficult. All he remembered was giving Alfred the watch, greeting a few nations, gazing as they battled it out on some forsaken video game, Canada giving him tea...
... Oh, bloody f***. Why to be a careless bugger, England.
He groaned, sitting up and shivering slightly. He had been like this for a while now, it seemed. What the hell was the time? He glanced around the dark room, noticing a luminous red light on a table ahead, flashing as the digits flipped to
3:00.
Was it really that late? Or, early, rather. Stretching out his arms, he rubbed his eyes and sat up, feeling around for his shirt. His fingers felt naught but sheets but on the table he felt something big and soft. Blinking to adjust his eyes to the darkness, he saw it was a hoodie, Alfred's, of course. Well, it wasn't his shirt, but it'd do, keep him warm, at the very least. It was massive on him but he wriggled it on anyway and got to his feet, having to steady himself slightly.

The door of the room had been left ajar, enough so that light seeped through, showing Arthur the way out. Making his way out into the blindingly bright hallway, he squinted and hissed at the light, looking around rather aimlessly. He heard a faint, familiar voice from a little way down.
"Aha! Ice cream!"
'Kitchen', Arthur immediately thought, and pushed his way into the room.
"Party's over, is it? ... Why oh why did you let that happen to me?"
He whined, leaning against the doorframe.

Alfred took the tub out and already had a spoon dug into it. He heard Arthur mumble from the otherside of the room and looked up. Well he was certainly a lot quieter than before but he looked terrible. His eyes gave that tired and pained look about them and Arthur seemed to be struggling to cope with the bright lights.
Ah, no. I don't wanna be stuck with grumpy Arthur with an added hangover!
Sure grumpy Arthur was bad, but after a night of drinking it seemed to get worse.
"Yeah the party finished a couple hours ago. They said something about Jet Lag..."
Not cause my party was boring, ya know!
America put a scoop of the ice cream into his mouth and managed to grin behind the spoon.

"How are we feeling, Artie?"
America suddenly pouted when he realised the blame was placed on him.
"And, How was I too know France has spiked your tea, huh? You're such a lightweight anyway, I didn't have a chance to think."
Yes, because he was clearly thinking when he was setting up the new game with Japan.
A wave of excitement hit America as he realised something.

"Hey, now you are up... Let's watch a scary movie! Please?"
Sure, England had just gotten up and had the worst hangover possible from a few sips of tea and red wine but he hardly celebrated Alfie's birthday properly, he owed him.

"Well, it's your party, you should know what's going on... And I am not a lightweight! I must have had five, six cups of that stuff before I passed out, right...?"

Arthur's eyebrows furrowed inward. His mind was still fuzzy about previous events but he'd defend himself nonetheless. Of course, he knew what he just said was a darned lie, but there was no way that he was going to admit to how pathetic he was with alcohol, despite Alfred having witnessed it countless times in the past. He sighed as he jerked himself off of the doorway, ambling into the kitchen and dropping onto a chair, sprawling out on the dining table. He eyed the American as he robbed the freezer of its ice-cream, ardently eating it while still managing to talk.
God, you're never going to change, are you?

Good. Stay that way.

He felt a smile creep onto his lips. So he may have missed the party, but it's not like he came for the other nations anyway. Part of him was actually glad he got drunk and passed out... Goodness knows why he was glad, of course.
"Hey, now you are up... Let's watch a scary movie! Please?"
He groaned. Burying his head in his arms he mumbled out,
"Ugh, Alfred, do we have to? It's three in the bloody morning..."
Yeah, but you've just been sleeping for the past God-knows-how-long.
Letting out a sigh, he looked up at the cheery nation with one eye, as if to say 'oh, go on then.'
He may as well drag this night out for as long as he could.

America noted England's look. It meant the over-grown-child could have his way, much to Arthur's 'dispointment'.
Alfred took the tub in one arm and the DVD in his mouth, still grinning, so that he could have one hand free to pick Arthur up off the chair he had only just began to rest on.

"Ff'nhk f'u, Arfa! Ihf goha fi awhfum!"
America always seemed to forget when he had things in his mouth to obstruct his speech...
Translation: Thank you, Arthur! It's gonna be awesome!
When America realised that none of what he had just said was possible to understand he simply winked at England before dragging the brain-dead-nation to his living room, somehow managing to flick light switches and open doors with his elbow and foot on the way. Rather clumsily though.
Once they got to the couch he knew he could drop everything he was holding.
Ah.
Well maybe he should have thought that through. Letting go of Arthur's wrist wasn't a problem. That was the easy part. But dropping the ice-cream tub on the floor where it toppled over sideways, allowing melted ice-cream to crawl onto the carpet, and dropping the DVD from his mouth to his foot proved quite painful and perhaps not as simple as he first thought.
It didn't matter cause a hero could cope with such pain! And the room was a mess anyway...
Alfred saved the ice-cream before much more of the delicious food was lost and dumped it into Arthur's arms.
Right, now he didn't need to multitask it made it all so much more simpler.
Alfred put the DVD in to the player and flicked the large flat-screen TV (a must have for a movie-addict and gamer!) to the appropriate channel before sitting onto the couch with remote in hand.
"Um, even Kiku said he found this slightly scary, so it's okay Arthur if you do too!"
Maybe he was just hoping that Arthur would say the same to him to make him feel better about a Hero turning out to be so screamish. Cause he certainly wasn't good at fooling anyone, not even Tony, that he could handle scary movies.

Unexpectedly, I held you tight. That all of a sudden! Eh?

Arthur shook his head at the incoherent mumble of gratitude that beamed from the American. After years of listening to the same stuffed voice, he could pretty much work out what he meant. A yelp, similar to the one he had let out previously that evening, involuntarily leapt out of Arthur's mouth as he was pulled out of his seat, almost falling to the floor before managing to stumble to his feet and catch up with Alfred. He frowned as America awkwardly transported the DVD and ice-cream while pushing them through to the living room.

"Bloody hell Alfred, you know it would have been easier if you didn't try and take them all at once..."
Once in the bomb-site that was the living room, Arthur felt his wrist being released, and he flumped onto the comfortably inviting sofa. But his comfort was short-lived as he watched Alfred make an utter mess, dropping the ice-cream everywhere (to which Arthur brought his knees up onto the couch, to avoid touching the cold stuff), and effectively attacking himself with the DVD box. He sighed, but restrained a laugh, falling sideways into a pillow and mumbling into it.
"Serves you right, stupid."
He said through a grin. As Alfred joined him on the couch he stayed where he was; lying sideways, his head on the other side of the couch to Alfred. He blushed lightly.
You gonna want me to move closer or what?
A little pout formed momentarily.
"Um, even Kiku said he found this slightly scary, so it's okay Arthur if you do too!"
Arthur laughed.
"Oh, don't worry about me, I don't get scared easily." He remarked smugly with a smirk, giving Alfred a little jab in the leg with his foot. As he flipped the channels, Arthur looked up.
"You're not going to leave the light on are you? What's a scary movie, without it being dark? And besides, my head till hurts, and the light's not helping."

America pouted when he heard Arthur call him stupid but his eyes were firmly fixed to the TV screen as he pressed buttons hoping for an outcome of some sort.
"I'm not that stupid!"
Okay, maybe a bit...
Alfred seemed to have successfully been able to bring up the menu of the DVD, where there were short clips of the movie played repeatedly with creepy music and the occasional scream.
Was it bad that Alfred was already scared?
"Turn the light off? Ah, uh, no way! It's scarier in the dark!"
Alfred turned to Arthur with a somewhat desperate expression on his face.
But, it's what you do when you watch scary movies.
"And besides, my head till hurts, and the light's not helping."
"But, I'll be fine! A hero can cope in these kinda situations, and it's his job to make sure everyone is happy! Well apart from the bad guys cause ya know they don't deserve happiness and stuff. But Justice will always prevail!"
You knew it was coming so you had a few seconds to brace yourself. The typically cheesy wink and thumbs up seemed to be America's form of punctuation.
Reluctantly America got up to turn the light off. On his way back, he stumbled back into the couch and into Arthur, since he had already forgotten the path around the mess on the floor.
"Ah! I'm sorry Arthur!"
Once Alfred managed to feel his way to a seat he pressed play on the remote from the armrest.
Hey, this ain't so bad. Looks like a nice place to live in with a cute family.
It was only 5 minutes into the movie though.

"Uwaa! What's that in the reflection?! Is that a ghost? Oh my god! It's the ghost of the little girl isn't it!?"
It wasn't anything significant but Alfred was already freaked out that it didn't take much.
"Artie... Sit up properly..."

Darkness quickly shrouded the room after Alfred had stopped his irrelevant rambling and Arthur immediately felt the stinging at the back of his brain lull. Albeit the glow from the TV set, of course, but that wasn't so bad, the film seemed to be pretty dark anyway, even from the Menu screen, and the sounds of industrial grinding, clanking, wispy eerie music and screams never seemed to phase the Englishman... His eyes slipped shut momentarily as the lights vanished, but they snapped open again as a lumbering America crashed into him. Thank God the lights were off, there was no way that he would have been able to hide that blush.
Arthur groaned, and sort of held Alfred lightly before pushing him off.
"You're such a clumsy..."
He insulted through a well-hidden grin, using 'clumsy' as a noun... It was late, he was tired, he didn't care.
"Ah! I'm sorry Arthur!"
Don't apologise, idiot.

The film began. Arthur wriggled comfortably on his side, rolling his eyes at the frustratingly pointless and predictable scene of events. Creepy girl, clearly dead, that's obviously her ghost, family's gonna die, one parent might survive, it's all the same...
But it seemed Alfred didn't think that way.
"Uwaa! What's that in the reflection?! Is that a ghost? Oh my god! It's the ghost of the little girl isn't it!?"

"Alfred, be quiet and just watch. Pay attention, then maybe it won't be so scary."
Eh, he felt a little bad for being so harsh. Alfred was clearly freaked out of his head already. But hey, he was lying there and it was like he didn't even care.
But then the request came. Well, it was more like a sheepish demand, but whatever, it was good enough for Arthur. He let out a whine and moaned that he was comfortable where he was, but flopped up to Alfred's side anyway, dropping his head on his shoulder.

"Awww, what's the matter? So scared already Alfred~?"
He teased, poking Alfred.

"Alfred, be quiet and just watch. Pay attention, then maybe it won't be so scary."
But the more Alfred watched of the film the more scary it became!
If Alfred had a choice then he wouldn't watch it, but it was a test of bravery! He had to try!
America felt England's head on his shoulder and managed to ease up a little. Having Arthur closer to him was reassuring.
I'll be fine cause I have Arthur, right?
"Of course I'm not scared! It takes more than that to get a hero shaking!"
But he was shaking.
The woman in the film had just broken away from the rest of the group, you knew that meant trouble, especially when they were in a dark abandoned building. Then the masked figure lurking in the shadows dragging a hack-saw along the walls.
Alfred jumped and then tensed again, his hand shifting to the jumper Arthur had on and clinged to it.
America turned away from the screen just in time for the girl to meet an inevitably gory end. Instead, Alfred kept his eyes on Arthur, watching him in awe.
How the hell does Arthur do it?
The English gentleman appeared to be more bored than anything. With the usual frown, those beautiful green eyes whi-
The scream rang through the room. The American instinctively grabbed Arthur's arm tightly with both hands, shutting his eyes.

"Don't tease, Arthur!"
He knew if he hadn't said that England would probably start mocking him with his bitter sarcasm.

Goodness gracious, he really was scared out of his wits. Arthur felt a grip on his hoodie and it grew tighter as the predictable scene unfolded. He sighed and slinked an arm around the quivering nation, drawing him in closer to the comfort of the jumper.

"You're no hero, dumbarse. You're shaking like a leaf!"
The film made its twist, splattering gore and innards and across the barren building, enveloping the mise-en-scene in a deep red. A blood-curdling scream rang out, just as Arthur felt the grip grow even tighter, feeling Alfred's head bury into his arm.

"Don't tease, Arthur!"
"I'm not teasing. Why are you so scared? You're the one who wanted to watch it. You're older now, you should be able to handle this, right?"
Arthur sighed. If he was so scared, why did he even put it on? It was just one of those films that completely loses its story halfway through when the directors realise how much fun playing with fake blood is. That's all it was, really, lots and lots of blood. Nothing new. Okay, so the little girl was slightly creepier than films he'd seen before, but nothing overkill. Another of the characters got caught, fighting for her life to escape the clutches of the insane torture she was about to endure. The little girl appeared in front of the captive, a rusty file and lighter in hand.
"Let's play a game, shall we~?"
"No, no, NO!"

Inventive dialogue... Arthur rolled his eyes. But he knew this slow torture would be too much for Alfred to take as the little girl held up the lighter to the victim's eye, watching it burn and bleed as the screams filled the scene. Arthur glanced a look at Alfred.

"... We can turn this off if you want, y'know."

It was true that even though Alfred had grown up to be bigger and stronger than England that it hadn't stopped him from being as scared as he used to be when he was called 'little brother'. He hadn't changed much.
No way! I have changed! I'm not Arthur's little brother anymore! And I don't want to be...
America refused to move from the comfortable position he was in and continued to cling tightly to England. He knew that the worst of the film wasn't anywhere near over so he kept his face burried in the jumper. It might have been Alfred's jumper but he could still smell the familiar smell of Arthur through the fabric.
He's so warm...
Alfred smiled. The film might be really scary but it managed to get him so close to England. He could barely remember the last time he was able to do this.
I don't want to ever let go. Don't make me Arthur.
The strange feeling in his chest seemed to have caused him to forget about how freaky the movie was. America gave a slight glance at the screen and the gory images, hiding behind the folds of the jumper.

"N-no, you're right, Arthur. I'm old enough now, I should be able to handle this!"
He was 19, now.
Arthur couldn't see Alfred's eyes from that position, so how was he to know he wasn't watching a thing that showed on the TV screen? He sat with his eyes closed, ear to Arthur's chest now...

"Ha, I can hear your heartbeat!"
...Yes it was clear that he wasn't paying any attention to the film now.

Unexpectedly, I held you tight. That all of a sudden! Eh?

The movie was only going from bad to worse, each death more gruesome and cringeworthy than the preceding one, the hope of a happy ending slipping away fast. Even Arthur screwed his face up at a few of the scenes. It was all a bit too overdone for his liking. All the while he held the terrified Alfred, barely paying attention to the movie, instead reveling in this closeness. Since Alfred had become all independent, it was like Arthur was suddenly second rate, and he hated it. He began to act bitter towards America, but he knew he kid everyone but himself. The grips got tighter and the American got closer, Arthur heating up with every moment they stayed like this.
"Ha, I can hear your heartbeat!"
It's a good thing the screen turned red again, he could blame the tinge in the cheeks on the glow from the TV. His statement only made his heart beat faster, knowing that Alfred would have been able to hear it racing as fast as it was a second ago.
Damnit... He must think I'm nervous, or something.

"Why is that funny? You never heard a heartbeat before?"
He shifted a little, wriggling further down into the sofa a little more, sort of forcing Alfred closer, more onto his chest.
Tell me what you're thinking... You never do.

America grinned.
Wow, his heartbeat was beating fast!
America assumed it was becuase of the movie, it seemed like Arthur was actually watching it.
I mean, it couldn't be my fault. Could it?
Alfred pulled away from Arthur's chest just to get a good look at Arthur's face.
He's not...?
His smile only broadened as the young nation saw the older's cheeks were now with an added pink tint to them. Maybe Alfred had more of an effect than he thought.
"It's not that funny. But it's strange how powerful your heart is beating."
But, am I not just an annoying little brother to you?
Arthur was always mean to Alfred. There was no way - ... It must have been the red from the TV screen which made Alfred think he was blushing...
Maybe there isn't any other way to find out...
America leant over England and pulled him in closer to him till their lips met.
Please don't tell me I got this wrong.
